I soft bricked my s7 edge while trying to install TWRP, I rooted the phone and not reading *yes don't kill me* didn't realize the tmobile version has a locked bootloader, so here I am with a soft brick phone at work trying to fix it, it seems I need a stock image for me to put it back to stock, but if there is a stock rooted rom that would be better, can someone guide me in the right direction?

When you trying Odin back the firmware you need to make sure your not trying to downgrade if you updated from 4.3 or above. If you are on 4.3 or above make sure your either using the same firmware or a newer firmware. If you use an old firmware it will always fail. So downloading the newest firmware will be your best bet.

I am flashing NAE and NG2 firmware to the sprint s4 (no fails) but after the flash I am still only able to get to recovery and download mode. Side note: when trying to nandroid back up the phone reboots and will not create a backup. Please advise what if any fix I may look into.
Thank you,
Erik

check that out if you werent previously rooted if you were previously rooted then try this
Use Odin to flash the lollipop kernel you were using. Then go into the stock recovery (hold Home + Vol UP and Power) and clear the cache and reboot. If that doesn't work, go back into the stock recovery, clear cache and select factory reset, then reboot. That should allow MOAR (whatever rom you want i stole this post from one of my other topics about when i softbricked mine) to boot, then you can reinstall SafeStrap Lollipop.
If you're getting any kind of logo screen showing up on boot, you are only "soft" bricked (not "hard" or permanently bricked) and you can fix it easily.
If you're only getting a logo, try what Veid71 said in the post above mine. If that doesn't work, then worst case you just need to flash a factory restore image with Odin and start over.
A word of caution, though: if your firmware version was updated to BOE1, BOG5, BOK3, do NOT flash an earlier factory image or you will brick because after BOD the bootloader was locked and you can't downgrade it.

I get the logo screen like it is turning on then it goes to recovery mode options. I can get to Download mode and Odin has a blue port connection but my Win8 and Win7 PCs do not see the device at all, so I cant' flash in Odin. Background - I attempted to root using jrkruse method and got stuck and never rooted. Anyone know a way around this maybe using the external SD card?

When it boots into the recovery mode options, try clearing cache and then reboot. If that doesn't work, do it again, clearing cache and also factory reset. That may allow your phone to boot back up normally.
The SDcard Unbrick method is only needed if your phone cannot boot into Download mode. In this case, it wouldn't help you because your phone is functioning in that regard.
When you have the phone in Download mode, your computer won't show it as a device in "My Computer" because it's not connected as a media device., but software that knows how to look for it can see it. If Odin is lighting up blue in the first ID:COM box, it IS seeing the phone and you will be able to flash to it.
If you're to a point where you need to flash a factory restore image, click the "AP" button in Odin to select it. The image needs to be one that ends with a file extension "tar.md5", or Odin can't see it. If what you've downloaded is a zip archive, the image is inside that and you need to extract it first. Use the image in "step 2" of the root thread
I figured out what went wrong from your response thanks! I had saved the .tar.md5 on the external SD card rather than pc. Now attempting to re-root, .bat sees device but doesn't root.

Ok so I received my new carrier unlocked s5 phone today I tried the brick bug app it says its a 11 device, the android version is BPB1 = 5.0
what can I actually do with this device?
I went threw the setup wizard and then downloaded kingroot to the phone and ran the app and it did not work for rooting. says (root failed no strategy now)
so I was unable to root is this device even root-able. can I do anything to get a custom recovery I would prefer philz touch or Clockwork mod recovery should I just pitch this phone ?
feeling hopeless.
ok so since the kingroot app did not work I tried the method located here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370
rebooted the phone and then was stuck in a boot loop had to reflash to get it to boot back up still no root...
please help me I have no idea what to do now.
is this phone root able at all is any devs still working on this or no.
what do I do ?

yes It rebooted my phone and downloaded/flashed whatever u call it with Odin but after the phone rebooted it would not boot just was stick on the loading samsung screen for about 5 mins so it bricked on me I had to download the stock flash from the official website and re flash the AP to get the phone to even come back on as restoring it from the stock recovery did nothing.
It bricked after flashing NK2_kernel, correct?

No, that would disrupt the rooting process. Part of the rooting process is the phone getting softbricked.
Yes I tired phone was in download mode, debugging was on pc was set to remember, verify was unchecked. flashed via odin but the phone never reconnected after words
Idk why but that has happened to me before so yeah That can happen sometime
So flash nk2 kernel again and use root2 bat
Ok after about a hour or so I was fully able to do this on a 11 device using Kingroot/Safestrap .

Hello,
A few weeks ago I tried to root my old phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 4). I kinda completely failed it and I exedetly wiped my hole phone and not only the few things u were supposed to deleted if wanting to install a custom rom. Well now when I start my phone I get boot loop and can only go in download mode and the mode where u can delete stuff again. I would like to just reset the phone to normal without root and all that stuff because the phone of a friend broke down and I would borrow him my old phone but I need to get it back to normal.
Can anyone help me?
Download a stock ROM for your pjlhone, preferably a 6.0.1 ROM based on your variant (N910F,N910C,etc...)) And then flash it via Odin (put phone into download mode, then open Odin, and load the stock ROM from PDA/Ap tab) then connect ur phone and start process.

Flash firmware in odin and do wipe cache and factory reset from recovery right after flash. Download link below

I thought I could flash the China Qualcomm recovery version of TWRP recovery to my phone. After rooting and installing the official TWRP app, I flashed the heroqlte firmware img and rebooted. I then got the screen saying the phone was locked and to call my carrier.
I hard-shutdown the phone and booted back into the phone successfully. I have not yet tried booting into recovery.
Is there a way I can re-flash stock recovery?

It's (Surprisingly) not hard bricked, meaning you should be Able to get into download mode. If you're able to, just flash the stock firmware through Odin like normal.
The only thing is that this is an SM-G930AZ. I can't seem to find the stock firmware anywhere. I was able to at least get Odin to recognize the device, and even Kies can recognize it. It just sat at 0% for installing firmware in Kies.

My boy, doing a quick Google search brought me here. I don't know which firmware your phone was last on BUT, if it's wrong it will just fail to flash. Try the firmware posted here.

Thanks, good stuff. Could I get away with just flashing the BL part if I want to keep the current rom without starting fresh again?

Sorry to say but no. It all has to be re-flashed to become a clean OS. Hope it works for ya
Even if all I want is a stock recovery, it has to go back to full stock? Bleh.
Well, at least it's just a question of throwing time at it.
Thanks again!
