Impossible to launch Bootloader from Android, so i've no idea how you could acess to boot loader, the only one solution is that DFT release the V1.2 with bootloader option!
you are screwed. how do your buttons not work. if they are broken because of a hardware problem then why not just go ahead and get another phone why put up with that hassle forever

Hi all,
my HTC is broken as the vol down hardware button is not working. I was arguing is there's some way to enter bootloader without it. Please also note that I'm unable to start Windows Mobile as the phone is formatted.
Thank you !!

does your phone boot?
an easy way to get there is to start flashing a rom it will kick you to the boot loader ...
But there are some endkey replacements that have the option to restart in the boot loader ...

Hi,
thank you for your reply. Unfortunately the phone has been Task 29 Formatted so it's unable to boot to OS. These "End key Replacement" sounds good. What are they ment for?
I've disassembled the phone and found out that the flex cable of VOL Keys is broken. So NO VOL DOWN. Just ordered a new flex cable from China, but it will take ages to get to Italy.
Any help much appreciated
Endkey replacement: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=704631
Gaz Touch Tools
Using one of them you can go into bootloader mode.I prefer endkey.

well your phone has to boot to use the endkey replacements ...
even if it was task29 if you run the rom installer it it should kick you into the boot loader, but I am not sure about that, does the PC detect the phone over usb, or you could flash from the SD card ...

No USB detection... No Bootloader, No Reset, No OS.
I suppose that to flash from SD Card you need to get into the Bootloader, right?
Thanks (almost desperate)
Just Called HTC support... they say to leave the phone without battery for 2 hours and hope to spawn a hardware reset... will this work :/ ?
Waited 2 hours: NO JOY.

Not sure if it will work or but have you tried an app like everyWAN remote support personal edition?
It basically connects to phone and gives you a view of it via your PC I know you can reboot from pc etc and changes key preferences so maybe you could change the down key config
maybe wont work if you have no OS though but worth a shot the app i use is from sparus-software.com
hope that will help

I do not believe you need to enter the bootloader to flash from the SD card, search the forum for it but , If I remember use a fat32 formated sd card, use a 4 gig if you have an extra one, the ones that come with the phone seem to be flakey when it comes to flashing ..., and if memory serves me put the nbh in the root of the card and name it leoimg.nbh
Hi Thank you for your suggestions... unfortunately it seems the only way to flash for SD is with bootloader... just tested
I have a HTC HD2 running Desire Froyo 2.2. My volume down key is not working. I need to flash the Original WM 6.5 rom for warranty purpose. However to do this, i have to enter bootloader using volume down and power key. Now i am in a bind, I cant get the volume down key repaired until i flash OEM, and to flash OEM i need to use the volume down key. Is there anyway I can enter bootloader without the volume down+power key method.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
PS: There are other major issues with the phone (No GPS (Hardware Isssue), and many more to list), hence it is imperative that i send it for warranty repair.
No there is no way to enter bootloader.

maybee you can bend the power contacts or break the phone .. so it will not turn on
IF they can not turn it on .. they will not know its been hacked :/
I would rather get it fixed. If i break it, I dont think warranty covers it.
I think your best option is to take your phone to someone else and get the volume down key repaired, pay cash. Then take it to HTC for your warrenty repair for all the other problems.
I tried to get it fixed. They want a $120 for it. It may be the last resort. I am still keeping my fingers crossed, may be some solution will come to avail.

you can enter bootloader by holding the red "end call" key and select reboot, there you have the option of booting into bootloader..I dont know if the build you use have this option or not, but MDJ's 2.4 has this option.
Bootloader meaning the tri color screen... Not the magldr boot menu screen or clockwork recovery or menu thingie... Either way, without volume keys, either thing is useless to use or access.
yeah, i have the option in the shutdown menu, but it doesnt really load the bootloader. MAGDLR wont do it, I can get in to it.
I wonder if its possible to write code to enter bootloader?
This SD build by mdeejay has an option when you press reboot
it gives you the choice rebooting to bootloader.
Worth a try
A lot of builds have bootloader & recovery reboot options, unfortunately due to the hack-ish nature of our Android these never work.
I tried the SD version you suggested, it has the option, but it doesnt load the bootloader when selected. My nand rom also has that option, but doesnt work either.
Usually the RUU ROM flasher for windows mobile ROMs/Radios can load the bootloader with the phone on Windows Mobile... There should be a away to load the bootloader from Android too...
If you start to run any of the winmo RUU's it will unpack itself and one of the files is EnterBootloader.exe. Try copying this to your sd card and run it from there.
I have android running, so no activesync, hence, any ruu wont recognize the phone connected via usb.
Can I run EXE in android? How?
Nope, you can't run EXE files in Android. I think your only way to go is finding the cheapest repair center to fix that volume button of yours.

Wasn't sure if it would work, it did under winmo.
I just had to hit your thanks button because of your signature LOL
if you already have windows installed....than just plug-it in using activesync and run HSPL3... do not install it...before installing it will put ur phone in bootloader....than exit HSPL3 keep your phone pluged in and just flash wtever....radio,rom...etc....
no, dont have winmo running. I have gingerbread. Cant revert to winmo cause cant get into bootloader. catch 22.
I got this phone on Ebay because I am poor. It was a T Mobile unlocked that was changed to Android. I can't get rid of the old user name and don't have the password for the Android market account set up on this phone. I can't do a factory reset and I need help. I would prefer to put 7 on it but I would be happy putting 6.5 back. Android would do if I could reset the user account. I do hope someone can help me. I am not very technically gifted but I can follow easy instructions. Please help me.
Judy
Because you are new at this I suggest flashing the stock T Mobile from your SD card. It is the simplest and safest thing to do.
You may need the Serial and IMEI numbers located under the phones battery.
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32
2. Go to T Mobile web site and download the rom. It will ask for you IMEI number this makes sure the rom is for your mobile.
3. Unzip/unrar the downloaded file into a folder on your PC
4. Rename the RUU_signed.nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh
5. Copy the LEOIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
6. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
7. Reset the device while pressing the volume down button to enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
8. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
9. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device.
What if you want to flash it without using the SD card? I flashed android using NAND but I want to put WM 6.5 back.

I think doing it with the SD card is only way to get back to 6.5.
You could always boot into the boot loader by holding the up volume and power key then flash a 6.5 Rom.

Everyone has forgotten to find out what device this is, t mobile are all over the place and some ship 1024MB versions, don't flash anything until you work what you need, flashing incorrect tmobile roms could give you a really bad day and an expensive paperweight
I tried the data cable first and it won't sync with active sync because it is at this time android. It just isn't recognized as anything but a usb storage device. Then I tried the card. I put all the files on the card according to the directions and hit the volume down button and the power button and nothing happens. I then have to remove the battery to turn it back on. The screen that comes up when I first start the phone is dark forces team. There has to be a way to do this.
You have to be holding vol down before u even press the power button, then press the power button simultaneously. U should see a tri-color screen then connect your usb to pc and flash the 6.5 ROM
Make sure u start with the phone off

I had a few attempts before I got it so try again.
It worked for me with a 16GB card.
Turn off your mobile.
Hold the Volume Down and End Call (power) buttons at the same time.
When "Searching" appears on the screen, release the Volume Down button.
This guide may help. But ignore the things about custom ROM’s and HSPL for now.

ok, there are two versions of the HD2, one with 512MB one with 1024MB, some t-mobile US phones (TMOUS) have 1024MB, if you ge the wrong ROM you could potentially bugger your device
for instance, flash a ROM with a unsupported radio on your device than game over....potentially
if you have a TMOUS 1024MB HD2
flash to .51 radio an its screwed
flash to .50 radio an its ok, except 2.05.50.x radio which will screw it
and stick to TMOUS ROMS as well
if you have the regular world wide version we can flash to what ever we like
its important to find out what someone is using before recomending them to flash any WM6.5 ROM because if by chance that ROM contains an incorrect radio version for that hardware then its game over.

Try doing a reset to do this turn off your phone and then turn it back on but keep the power button pressed down until you see the main menu of MAGLDR come up and use the volume up and down buttons to scroll through the options and find recovery and select it with the send/call button. If you select the wrong option use the end button to back out of any submenu and get back to the main menu.
knows issue
Thanks for your answers
I don't have MAGLDR, i used to install SD Android ROM with Haret.exe directly from an Android dir on the SD.
Reading other forums it seems that it is a know issue: touch screen die after a while (generally close to the 1 year of waranty): starting with trouble more visible when screen is locked.
I will return it to for Repair.

Sorry man thought you meang you had a NAND Andriod ROM flashed via SD card. If you want you can perform a hard reset of your Windows Mobile While the phone is off hold both the volume up and down buttons down and the power button down until you see the multicolor screen come up and follow the on screen instructions. But this will delet any contacts, pictures, videos, documents, and etc so make sure you back up everything accordingly befor you do the reset. But if hou have a warranty I highly suveat you use it.
Hey guys.
I have a bricked HTC HD2 here. I installed Android 2.2 on it, and it ran fine for a long time. But a few days ago, it got stuck in a bootloop. It gets stuck on the Android logo and doesn't get past that point at all.
What I've tried (in chronological order):
1. AD Hardreset from aMAGLDR: erased all data, but didn't fix the problem. Kept going in bootloop.
2. AD Recovery: Failed. Doesn't get past the "GO GO GO!!"
3. Repair aMAGLDR using HD2 NAND toolkit: tried repairing (150MB partition size) and installing Clockwork Mod (150MB). Same exact results when trying to get into AD recover. Only diffrence is that I now don't have a ROM on my NAND anymore.
4. Install a diffrent rom: Tried a few of them, but they all keep getting stuck on their bootlogo (HTC, Android, ...).
5. Restore STOCK ROM WM6.5: I'd love to, but I can't get into the three-colors-bootscreen. It goes straight to aMAGLDR, even when I boot holding the right buttons (volume down + power [both short click and long hold]). I had set up the ROM files correctly on the SD card.
6. Install the STOCK ROM using the HD2 NAND TOOL: after going to USB Flash mode and installing the default microsoft drivers (it didn't want to accept the Google Android drivers or HTC drivers I downloaded earlier), the flash utility keeps getting stuck on ERROR 264: CONNECTION. The only thing I can do in the HD2 NAND UTILITY is repair aMAGLDR. Other options result in the same error. Task29 can't find the phone either.
Bottom line, I cannot (ABSOLUTELY not) get into the tri color boot screen. It sends me straight to magldr. Also, my volume buttons are working just fine.
I really don't know what to do anymore. I hope someone can help me, any help would be greatly appreciated
Did you try this?

- Take "RUU_signed.nbh" from an original ROM and copy it to your SD card.
- Rename to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset your device while pressing the volume down button

Did you even read the OP's post, clearly I think not. The OP says several times that they can not get the device to the multicolor WINCE bootloader.Without being ably to boot into the bootloader they can notflash via SD card.
At the OP you can stop trying to flash via USB flasher in MAGLDR, it is only for flashing Android RIMs, WP7 ROMs, and Custom Android recoveries. If you are positive your volume down button works then you probably have some bad NAND blocks, but that is just a guess, with out access to the bootloader you are pretty much only left with flashing Android or WP7 via USB flasher in MAGLDR.
That's problematic... The HD2 NAND utility can't flash any ROMs, since the utility can't find the device (error 264).
I've tried 8 diffrent ROMS (from http://android.hd2roms.com/) by putting them on the SD card and use the "AD SD boot" function, but none of them can get past their bootlogo... All ROMs keep hanging on HTC / Android logos. Some of them used to work in the past, I recall...
Here, try these fixes and read the WHOLE POST :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21725062&postcount=7
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, none of the solutions worked. The battery pins were indeed bent, but after putting them back in place, the problem persisted.
I left my phone powered down all night and tried booting it in bootloader this morning. It didn't work. So that rules out solution 3 awell.
I've even put it in the freezer for half an hour (solution 5), but nothing changed.. Browsed through the last thread aswell, but there was no stuff I haven't tried yet. I can't even start tetris, since it keeps hanging on a blank screen aswell
The guy in solution #4 was facing the same issue (I think).
Especially the second part of the solution, where he talks to the OP. Read it carefully, and check out the post and thread he referred to.

need information in case of not getting into the bootloader
how can I use the american android + USB flasher method to work for my hd2 if
I am not able to boot it,
can't soft/hard reset it,
can't get into the bootloader (using volume down + end key pressed).
I used android installed on SD card.
It is totally unresponsive for now. volumn keys worked perfectly when it is was working lastly !
Please tell what can bo done to it to get it working or where does the problem lies.
check your battery pins and also battery if it is charged.

Another solution?
I had the exact same problem. And I am under the impression that there is no solution for every case. But for me it worked to press the volume down button very softly. I tended to push the button as hard as I could, however when I only pressed the volume down button slightly it went straight to the triboot color.
Hopefully this works for some of you.
Can someone help?
Hi,I want to refresh post, becouse i have exact same problem - can't get to serial bootloader, and in MAGLDR i can use only the USB FLASHER option. If someone could tell me how to flash any new rom only through FLASHER ? Last thing i can say: my problem started from installing this app from google Play play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.livelogcat.lite (sry for that, but I can't post URL yet) it might messed up my kernel and i have no idea what to do.
