Finally its been a month and Christmas and New Years has been and gone, and I'll be getting my Tab back from the Repair Centre and it will feel all shiny and new!
I had to hand it in for repair due to me breaking the motherboard trying to flash firmware!
So the reason for this thread is to say hi again! and also is there any important updates been made in the past month?

Finally have my phone back

Hey all,
I broke my phone over 4 weeks ago now, it was sent off for repair on the 31st of August to the HTC repair center in the UK.
The screen was fine, however the LED underneath was broke and I couldnt see the screen (2 white lines on it). This cost me £120 to repair - where I was told in the vodafone shop by a woman (who didnt even know what the phone was) that it would probably cost £40 - I didnt get my hopes up on that though xD
Now exactly 4 weeks later it has arrived in perfect condition, it had a scratch on the back which seems to have been polished out as it is now barley visible which is nice of them.
So yeah, just a little bit of information for people sending their phones off
Now its time to install a rom
oh my god, it took a month for them to fix it?thats pretty shabby service, mine went last week, if it aint back by friday and i will be pissed and on the phone!
good to hear your phones in good shape but 4 WEEKS!!!, thats pretty piss poor service if you ask me. im in the same boat as OrionCarl, sent mine last monday and they recieved it tuesday, how long does it take to flash a phone...?. i've already been on the phone yesterday and was told to call again tomorrow if my ticket/tracking hasnt changed. really want my phone back.........
I got mine back last week after 2 months of repair. It got crushed in a car door and was actually bent, with cracked LCD and glass. The chap in the TMobile store actually laughed at me and said it was a hopeless case, but Fone Doctors on London Bridge Station came through. New LCD, Digitizer (and possibly mainboard) for £140.
The insurance companies must hate this.
£20-30 excess and brand new phone the next day.
HTC repair in the UK (not far from where I live) are unbelievably shabby, failed to notify me that they would charge me for a repair which should have been covered under warranty so that if I had just waited they'd have destroyed my phone, not return it but destroy it!
well i called back today, as told on monday and was told to call again on friday if the repair status doesnt change by then. the guy said there was a huge backlog of broken phones to fix. really crap service !!!
mine still says repair, service does seem shabby sadly, will ring tomorrow and have a moan, if I left my custmomers waiting for parts for a month, i wouldnt have a job!!!!
As stated in trading standards repair centers have 28 days to repair or replace a phone if it runs over this time scale then you have the right to demand a replacement handset 28days is deamed as reasonable time scale for a repair. If you got it from a network shop eg o2 there repair center will do it as quick as they can but if its not bk by 28 days you will be sent a refurbed handset which is sometimes better than a repair.

Bought a used Galaxy Tab. Dead pixels on screen...

Recently, I bought a used Verizon galaxy tab on ebay. I haven't gotten a chance to activate it but I've been using it for a couple of days and just noticed today there is something wrong with the screen on the upper left hand corner. It's really noticeable when the screen is black. It's some kind of dead pixel spot thing... The person said it was only a month old so I assume it is still under warranty. Can I take it somewhere to get a new one or get it fixed since it's obviously a hardware defect?
Check to see if the seller registered it. If he did, you will not be able to transfer the warranty. Might want to think about returning it... If the dead pixels were not mentioned in the auction notes, he'll Have to refund.

How do you register it? The guy that sold it to me was very nice and I'd rather not have to return it.
Head to Samsung website...also, maybe ask the seller for original receipt. If it's around a month old, you might be able to talk Samsung into an exchange for having a defective unit. (unit...hehe )

Thanks again for the info. The person hadn't registered it yet so I was able to register it and send it in for repair. Turns out it wasn't a cluster of dead pixels but instead a bleeding screen. Still waiting for it to come back. Does anyone whether they send a new one or do they just fix the old one?
Most times they try and repair the damaged / defective model. If it can't be repaired, they will replace it. Seems you might have lucked out in buying this used one. Prolly gonna end up with a brand spankin new Tab for cheap! Keep me posted, am curious to see what they do.
Sent it in a week and a half ago and am still waiting for it to come back. They received it last Thursday so I hope it comes back soon. I'll update the thread once it arrives. Has anyone else ever sent anything to Samsung for repair?

Yep. I sent in my Tab because it wouldn't wipe/reset properly. It took 4 days to get there, and then 8 days for it to ship back to me. Another 3 days to get it back. They covered everything (including the lousy ground shipping, Ugh) and it appears to work great; even a bit faster than before.

Awesome! Samsung just shipped it back today so it should be here in a few days. Can't wait! I wonder if it will be the same one I sent in or if it will be a new/refurbished one. I'll let you guys know when it arrives.
Got the Tab back a couple days ago. They sent me back the same one but they replaced the screen. The process took a while but I'm pleased with the outcome. Thanks for all the help guys!
^ coo good thing u weren't stuck with a defective tab

Just got my son´s X10i replaced by S/E.. :-)

Hi there...
My son have a X10i, that originally was branded with Danish 3...
Now at some point we decided to debrand it, root it and last but not least put in muiu and other roms and in the end the newest Android 2.3 from S/E...
Then the speaker died, and then the USB died...
I took it back to the store, and they send it, first to their own repair center, and then to a S/E repair center becource they could not repair it...
S/E decided then to replace the phone with a brand new one, and offcource with new warrnety...
The new phone he recived is a generic phone also with android 2.3.3...
So not allways when you root/debrand/whatever, the warrenty is lost...
last year my X10's USB broke...i called Orange and they said they asked couple of questions like did i had water spilled..etc etc and then they asked me to take the replacement phone after 3 days,,which i got...never gave the phone for repair or to sony centre...in 3 days it was replaced and ofcourse it was all rooted and modded.
I fear I am about to get into a heated discussion on this very topic tomorrow. Mine has been away for repair twice now. The second time it was sent to SE who decided to replace it. They have told me the IMEI number of the replacement phone (which will not arrive until tomorrow) and it corresponds to.....................................X10 Mini. WTF! North American spec apparently......if these IMEI analysis sites are to be believed.
I feel a small claims court case coming on.
Imagine taking your BMW in for a service. All done sir, here are the keys to your new Trabant!

ahahaah! hilarious, but these sites are not to be 100% trusted. and i dont think SE will make such a mistake (only on rare occasions)
Well, we shall see. The analysis of my other phones' IMEI numbers is spot on................................................make, model, age etc.
yeah i remember one guy was waiting for the replacement and he got an arc when he opened the box :O
yeah, if i still had warranty now they would replace it with the arc for me since my provider no longer sells x10's

getting brand new replacement

Today called up sony and asked them if they can change the 2 philips screws since original ones are damaged after repair. The woman puts me on hold and comes back saying I have spoken to the head of department and they will send you a replacement. So on tuesday the guy should be coming with my new phone and pciking up the old one. Im really surprised they rather change it over than provide me with new screws lol.

Did you sent it their ways in the first time when you say "original ones are damaged after repair" ??
I would understand why they would change it altogether instead of having you going through the whole getting it repaired situation again...
Else I might have some damaged screws as well
I first sent off my phone to get the crack repaired above the sensor and since then sent it again to get the touch screen repaired after it was going crazy when browsing. Today was cleaning my phone and realized the screws are all messed up. The lady told me someone will come and collect it. I told her its working perfectly fine but she insisted.

Need repair solution

Hi!
My Moto G4 plus fell on the road and was badly damaged (screen and rear camera lens cover shattered) so I got a new phone and decided to get this one repaired so I could use it as a backup. Thing is, when I took it to the service centre, they said that since it was rooted, they would not take it for repairs and that I would have to buy a new device.
I can't unroot it now since the display doesn't work, and I would prefer to have this fixed rather than get a new phone. I'd be really grateful if someone could help out with this. Thanks!
Update: Found a service called JustLikeNew through some facebook ad. They're quite good - I put in a request for repair online, a guy came over to pick up the phone the next day, and I had the phone ready and back with me in three working days. It's still working splendidly. Definitely recommended if you, like me, are frustrated with Motorola.
