Heya,
First things first, thanks for all the devs whom are working hard, for us to have android on our devices!.
And Now, to my question.
I'm new to Android, and HD2 as well, but after lurking around these forums checking on the various builds and what not, I Still can't figure some stuff out,
I See all these builds sporting "Froyostone" "NexusLeo" "FroYo" "With Sense",
I Don't get it, I Know "Froyo" is the new version on Android OS but what the heck is Froyostone? and does NexusLeo use Froyo as well? or is it Eclair?
Please please please help me make order out of this mess
Thanks a lot!,
Hopefully we'll have A working perfect build in the months to come! .
froyo stone is froyo rom(maybe incorrect term here) developed by blackstone they are all mostly just names of liberty. need to read the info to find out what version android they are, whether the have sense or not etc
Froyo as you stated is the latest version of Android. Darkstone is the chef of the FroyoStone hence the Stone in the name. Chefs name the builds anything they want as it's there version with certain tweaks. I personally use FroyoStone v1 and it seems to be the best and most stable I've found. In order to use any of these builds properly I suggest you drop a custom rom on your HD2 before messing with any of these builds. Reading up on the stickies in the HD2 rom developing section should help you with that. Once your ready to go you can check out the stickies in the HD2 Android development on how to get going on Android. Note: Read Read Read and make sure you understand everything as flashing a rom to your phone could easily damage your device if not done right. Hope this helps.

Every Rom is like a different flavor of ice cream. Some like fast and no extra features (vanilla), some like Rocky road. Any ROM you choose will give you a taste of android, however they're are 4 basic types in my opinion.
Vanilla style: No extras, just stock android
[BUILD] [18.08.2010] [darkstone HD2Froyo V2.1]
[BUILD][14.08.2010][Xcelsior's Android FroYo V1.00
Sense Vanilla style: No extras, just stock android using htc sense
[BUILD][07.08.2010][FroyoStone Series - V1
Then the feature versions. As in more functionality, based on the Cooker's preferences.
my persona fav- [BUILD][16.08.2010][shubCRAFT CM6RC3
[BUILD][17.08.2010][mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.5b
Thanks a lot you guys! I'm a bit wiser now
I Remember last year when I Had my Diamond, development just started, and now not only is it possible, it's even stable, back when I Tried it, it was all bits and pieces
Now I Have the iPhone and I Really do love it, it's good and simple, but last week I Saw my fathers HD2 running Froyostone and that finally convinced me to get the HD2, which by itself is a good phone, but with android support it's one of the best phones i've seen in awhile, probably even better then my beloved iPhone
Thanks a lot for you kind help!

probably??????? how dare you....how very dare you!
I saw my brothers new iphone4 the other day, played with it for 10 minutes (i know its not long enough to properly gauge how 'good' it is )...... SOOOO glad I got the HD2 instead of the iPhone 3GS I almost bought instead.
If you get/got yourself an hd2 AND get android installed too... i dont think it will be long before you KNOW the HD2 kicks the iphones' arse IMHO
Enjoy your new phone...enjoy it even more with the little green robot installed
***smilies all over the place, calrsberg special brew will do that to a man***
but you know there working on android for iphone 3gs its already avalible for 3g and 2g .....just a fyi

Haha Seriously? I didnt think the two would be compatible whatsoever. The iPhones hardware is pretty lame and lacking isnt it?

I did not know that cheers.
But yeah as the guy above hinted at.... iphone <4 tech doesnt compare to the HD2 IMO.... Plus I got my HD2 for quite a bit less than I could have got even a 3gs for. Im happy with my decision.... hell I was happy with the HD2 pre android lol
...Cheers for the info though, I'll let my brother know but I think he likes OS4, I thought it was OK but nothing special.... android would make that phone pretty decent I reckon.

how very dare you! (the british comedy right?)
I would've dropped that iphone on hard surface-and pretend that i dropped it by accident...
Now i've been on this forum a while tho i've not posted much thats because i actually use the search button lol
but now im just after peoples opinions.
What should i go for the Desire or the HD2 with a Froyo Port on it
Firstly im buying the phone outright no contract i prefer sim only and im used to flashing phones I've been doing my TYTN II for years now so that's not a put off in fact is it only me that gets existed when a new build comes out from the developer lol
but im more interested how the hd2 handles with android from you people that use it and batter life too i would like to know real peoples opinions on that.
anyway thanks for taking the time to read
Regards
Wappy
note: i was going for a desire but i decided to look at the builds for the HD2 and they have come along way, so its thrown in a lot of confusion again lol
I would say if android is top of your list, then go for an android device. I think the android ports on here are great, I play about with the 2.2 froyo build of darkstones, but only really to get an android fix and just because i can really lol but i still like windows 6.5 to use everyday.
There are still bugs to be ironed out and the battery life isn't great at all yet on the hd2 android builds (don't get me wrong though is brilliant whats been achieved so far!)
I would advise you to have a look at the Samsung galaxy S if your after an android device as this is sort of the closest thing to hd2 sort of layout, just not as good quality.
It is a tough one though mate because the HD2 is a cracking device to run either platform!
hello every one i just got a tmobile hd2 real cheap...and began testing on it...i tested linux on it with a class 6 card...pretty good....now im running different programs to see what is possible on this...i got many many plans for this phone ....im starting testing with android....and wow...a lot of flavors 2 choose from....can u guys recommend a android thats real fast...nothing else matters just speed..no lag...closest thing to normal speed...like if it was off nand....and a another one with usability....everything or almost everything working..the most features working...3g,blueooth,etc......ive read a lot of good things with darkstone...but i dont want to miss anything else out there......thank u guys

I only started running Android on my HD2 over the weekend. The only build I've tried so far has been very good:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=791835
My main concern with this build is battery life and the voice mail notification doesn't work. But overall, the build is fast and stable.
well from what im reading about it this build is probalty faster then darkstones....thank you so much....does sense make android slower?
No sense doesn't make Android slower . It's proven by the quadrant scores . But sense is an acquired taste imo . While it defiantly brings eye candy to android I feel like a vanilla version is a lot easier to customize .

Greets All,
I currently have an HD2 unlocked and being used on AT&T. Love the phone, and since adding Android, Loving Android very much so. Kudos to everyone that made this happen.
Now before anyone jumps the gun and starts with the typical answers.
I am currently using the Moto234_Evo_Carbon_Remix Rom. One of the reason why I chose this was because I was setting up a Sprint EVO for a client, and it look very similar to the HD2 and the specs for the most part, and I liked the feel. By picking the rom I said I like it, but I was wondering if there is a better Android to work with the HD2 to try (Not ROM), Other then the EVO based one which I assume based on the name the one I am using is based on.
I know there are different types, like nexus, and droid, but I am just wondering if the evo base is a good selection, or if there is one that might fit better the HD2.
*Bump*
Anyone? Again, I am not asking whos rom is better, I am merely asking which Android OS would be the best fit for the HD2? If this is an opinion question, please base it off the OS and not the ROM someone made.

Everyone get's different results with different builds, unfortunately. Anything I suggest to you could run like absolute **** on your phone but be smooth as silk on mine. It's a case of try them and see. The worst you'll do is lose a few hours swapping and configuring builds. Just back up all your data (data.img) first and you'll be fine.
best evo build is mdeejays 2.3 revolution
then upgrade to mdeejays 4.4 desire hd build , update with kernel mdjs8
but first, why not update your winmo rom to 3.14?

Your right about that, thats why I was asking what would be the best fit, true that anything you suggest may run like crap, but since there are different droid builds from different type of phones, I was just trying to narrow down which would be the best fit for the HD2.
I just got the HTC Aria, and going to at least root it for now, and then see if I want to keep whats in there or upgraded/change it to another version.

I guess since I just got the phone and coming from the comfort of the Tilt 2 I dont want to brick it lol, but I took the plunge and updated it to 3.14. And thanks, will look into your suggestion.
every mdeejay build i ever tried back in my hd2 days were fantastic definitely look into them.
Im new to all this. Its taken me about 3hours to get one version on andriod working on my HD2.
Managed to get Hyperdriod 1.6 working. But was wondering if there are any better versions of any of the ROM's? as there seems to be so many.
thanks again
beauty is in the eyes of the beholder so what i might like and suggest you may hate. i would check out this website. it a much easier way to find android roms for our hd2 that are posted here on XDA.
