Hi guys...i try to root my phone with Unrevoked 3.21..
I download the usb drivers and the Unrevoked 3.21 for Windows(My OS)
in step 3:
"On your phone, you will have to select HBOOT USB at that menu by pressing volume down four times, then power. Wait until the screen flashes through an “SD Checking” message before pressing buttons; otherwise, the phone will ignore keypresses."
it doesen't apears to me tis option!!!"HBOOT USB"
it has only: HBOOT
<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item
FASTBOOT

CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
Please give me some advise what to do!!!!
Is your phone connected to usb haha and usb debugging enabled?

In newest boot rom you don't have to select hboot mode, it enables automatically when the phone is connected to pc (and drivers are installed), if i'am wrong, please correct.
btw, if you are using newest boot rom, then i understand you have Android 2.2.1, froyo, so you CAN'T root it yet, use search.
I have 2.2.1 update..I can't root it yet???
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Oh now I know why, you can't root official froyo , so many threads on this, learn to search..
Official froyo can't be rooted???I am new in android...
:S so am I, this is my first android phone, I only got it for 3 months lol.
Do you know if any other official update coming???

Is it hard? No.
Download 1.13
Put your phone bootloader (tricolor screen)
Connect to pc
Run romupdate exe
Read onscreen guides, make choice
Done
Enjoy your new MAGLDR

me too have the same problem
I solved that. First you need to install HTC Sync for all HTC Android Phones (i cant post hyperlinks if you want i will send you link via DM ) and after you will can to upgrade MAGLDR
You don't need to install anything, just turn off phone, then turn back on holding down volume down button until you see tri-colour bootloader.
At the bottom you will see the word serial then plug into PC, thenafter a few seconds you'll see it change to usb, then flash 1.13.
Hope this helps
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
You don't need ActiveSync.
The ROM Update Utility .exe will recognize and skip to step starting with the tricolored screen (hold vol down and power on). Ie. it will recognize your phone from there on.
You can do this to update anything from NAND Rom, Radio, MAGLDR etc. once you are no longer tied to Windows Mobile (activesync). The ROM updater skips those steps.
Did it just now.
does it erase the setup you have on your phone? or can you just upgrade with no issues?
I'm interested, too, if there's any data loss.
I read somewhere something that after upgrade the android needs to be flashed again.

No, flashing from 1.11 to 1.13 does not result in data loss (normally - to be safe I'd suggest taking a backup though)

does updating MAGLDR 1.11 to 1.13 make u lose ur warenty. And does someone know when there is gonna be a new MAGLDR 1.14(?) on the market and will this be better then 1.13?
warranty? I think you can reverse and go back to stock for warranty. you already lose your warranty once you flash hspl anyways.

magldr 1.11 to 1.13
I'm trying to update from magldr 1.11 to 1.13 but every time I run the ROM update utility I get "Error [260]: Connection" & "the Update Utility cannot connect to your PDA phone." I have the tri-color bootloader screen, as well as USB on it. I'm already running a NAND Froyo build, just trying to switch to Gingerbread. I've tried searching this forum & the web for help without any success. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

he doesnt really mean 'root', he means how to flash it.
@OP
step by step (ill let you look up the details)
into bootloader (do all your flashing from here) connect usb and wait for 'serial' --> 'USB'
*at each step when the phone reboots, immediately hold vol down to re enter bootloader*
hspl4.exe (see my sig) - choose 2.08.hspl
bootloader
if you have a regular hd2 flash a radio, 2.11.50.x or higher.
If you have a tmous you can skip the radio step.
bootloader
flash magldr
when phone restarts, press and hold end key till magldr menu appears
(you can actually start pressing the end key just before the first boot logo vanishes, save 5 seconds wear and tear on the end key, hehe)
You are now ready to flash android roms, in several ways, (nand via daf.exe, nand via clockwork zip, you can flash wp7 using magldr, use magldr to boot to android on teh sd card, etc etc). Far too many variants to cover in a simple 123.

Do you still have the original vodafone ruu? Just install it again.
Did your handset ship with Gingerbread on it? HTC Firmware > 2.36.xxx.x?
If so there have been reports of newer hardware having issues with the older HBOOT (ENG S-OFF). This can be identified by very long boot up times 15-20+ minutes.
Try leaving your handset on to see if this is indeed the case. If so this can be fixed.

Now im gonna try this method from this site but another thread.
-download this with ur pc and rename it a PB99IMG.zip (not PB99IMG.zip.zip ok?)
-then put it on the root of ur sdcard (not in some folder) through an sd card reader
-ensure the battery is charged much than 30%..better more
-with the phone off (remove battery and put again) press and HOLD the volume down key and press (still holding the volume down key) and hold the power button..hold both and wait to enter in the hboot
-there wait a bit, and it will ask to u if u want apply the update, select yes with the volume keys and confirm with power button

Sounds like you are in a bootloop good sir, have you rooted your phone before? If not your going to have to to get out of this. First things first though. Pull out that battery on your phone. Plug it back in, HOLD DOWN VOLUME DOWN and power until the phone boots into the boot loader. Tell me the information it says, will say hboot + numbers (important) and s-off or s-on. Ignore the rest I'll be up all night so hopefully we can get you sorted asap

- Extract the ROM.zip from the RUU, if you are unable to install it over USB. There is a guide here:
http://lukasz.szmit.eu/2010/04/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-android.html
- Once you have that ROM.zip, rename it to PC49IMG.zip, place this ZIP file on your SDCard
- Reboot phone in HBoot Mode (i.e. Start using Vol Down + Power Key). Installation of the ROM should start.

OK so s-on means security on. When on the phones nand (the hardware) is protected and cannot be written to. S-off means that the security is off and you have total control of your device. Boot loader and hboot are the same thing, they are what enforces the security, loads the phones rom into the ram to be used. The rom is essentially the android operating system and the recovery is a recovery. People on this forum usually want to s-off their device so they can put on custom roms and recovery also root = administration permissions. Usually needed to do system things and all requests for root are handled by the super user App need to know anymore?
Oh and glad you got your phone sorted pal

Welcome. I have a problem with HTC Magic, and so I'm on my phone after installing rom could not enter recovery mode. On the phone was the rom install ROM Manager app, so I used it and installed Rogers recovery or something like that. Phone came after restarting in recovery mode, but I could not after him navigate, so I turned on the phone again, ROM Manager installed ClockworkMod recovery. After installing CWM's phone starts up, it appears a few seconds to sign the HTC Magic and the phone restarts. Recovery mode does not work and fastboot. computer sees the phone for a while until I will not start again. Thanks in advance for your help. I'm sorry for text, i use google translate
someone can help me.?

Do you have fastboot? If so, install a compatible recovery with your magic. Watch out if it is a 32A or 32B

Calm down...this is not a big problem and it can be fixed.
Enter in Fastboot Mode by pressing the back key + power on.
If you have unlocked your hboot.
Download RA-Hero 1.6 recovery and flash it with this command
Code:
fastboot flash recovery /location/name of the img .img
If you have a Locked hboot.
If your phone is Europe then download this RUU
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...Europe_3.05.401.3_release_signed_NoDriver.exe
If your phone is Rogers Download this Zip
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...8.55.06Q_6.35.16.19_release_144134_signed.zip
If not then search http://www.shipped-roms.com for a suitable RUU
For europe just open your phone in Fastboot and start the RUU(this will format everything on your phone)
For Rogers copy the zip to your SDCard and rename it SAPPIMG.zip, enter in hboot (VolDown + powerkey) and let it scan the zip.

Try to use RUU to downgrade to 1.5 by using one of the apps from here, after this you may enter in hboot normally. then try to change the spl and radio as you wish. this operation works for me everytime i "smash" my magic
@george.wgx
I can not do the RUU downgrade the firmware because the computer detects the phone and after 3-4 seconds of losing contact with him.
i run magic today. if someone have this same problem, you must install a recovery by RecoverX
