[Q] Android (NAND or SD) will not load on my HD2 - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello!
I have installed android on a few of my co-workers devices (both SD and NAND). One particular device, however, will not let me install it or get it to run.
When I try the NAND method, it freezes at the MAGLDR launch, no option choices, nothing.
When I try the SD method, it freezes at the launch of Haret.exe. It shows the first five lines of Commands and stops.
I've tried starting from scratch method, tried Task 29, and i've noticed that 90 percent of the custom roms ive tried keep freezing. I'm stuck on this one and i need some help!

Start again from scratch. Flash a stock ROM, flash the latest radio and the latest HSPL.

Just completed flashing HSPL3 after starting from scratch, i get the same result from both NAND boot and SD. (magldr launches with no options, Haret.exe doesnt get past the first 5 command lines

MAGLDR: Slow boot-up

Hello all.
I've been using MAGLDR since day one with Cotulla's first ROM and never had an issue until yesterday when I started using CMYLXGO's TopiaHD ROM. It would boot into MAGLDR, then it would say "Booting Android from NAND" in blue font, then "Android load at xxxxxxxxxxx", then "from NAND" in green. It will hang there for about 10-15 seconds before loading yaffs and whatnot. This wasn't happening before. This is the procedure I go through every time I flash a NAND ROM.
1. Reboot into phone's bootloader
2. Task29 w/ Radio 2.12.50.02_2
3. Install MAGLDR from phone's bootloader
4. MAGLDR loads and gives "Fail to load kernel" error (SD card is INSERTED; didn't cause an issue before) Then it brings up the 10-option menu
5. I flash the rom via "USB Flasher" (duh )
6. After installation finishes I leave USB plugged in and let the phone boot itself. This is where it gets caught at the spot above.
Even after the first initial boot (which takes about 3-4 minutes), I always do a soft reset to ensure everything works properly before using the phone. Normally, the 2nd boot-time should be cut by about 80%, but for me it hasn't been doing that. It still takes roughly 3-4 minutes to boot into NAND, and MAGLDR still hangs at "from NAND" for 10-15 seconds, EVERY TIME.
I'm so lost. I've tried a different radio and both MAGLDR v1.10 and v1.11; neither made any difference. Is MAGLDR lagging because of the build I flashed?
**ALSO**, I noticed that when flashing CMYLXGO's TopiaHD, it only wrote data to ONE partition, whereas when I flashed other ROM's, it would write a first, very small partition, then a second, larger one. Should this be happening?

I've tried cmylxgo's ROM, m-deejay's Revo HD ROM and Gauners ROM and all except the m-deejay ROM takes about 4 to 5 minutes to boot each time...no matter how long it's been installed or how many times it boots.
Currently I'm using the Gauner ROM and I have never seen the under-1 minute boot other speak of. If m-deejay had a stock DesireHD ROM, I would use it. But he doesn't and is not likely to put out strictly stock ROMs, for whatever reason.

Give us more information about your phone please.
What do you need?
It's a stock TMOUSA HD2.
My first HD2 broke, I just got this one today.
I put WP7 on the first one.
I was following the instructions here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971478
Note: It doesn't boot, so I can't check radio or anything like that.
The Bootloader should still be working, that's the most important thing now.
You must try to get the Spl on your device, for that just go to the Hspl installer and choose SPL the best should be 2.08 or 1.66.
Do a task 29 then.
After that you have a clean HD2, dont make the things complicated, flash a costum Rom that's the best at my opinion
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944995
If you need some help to flash ask youtube
Here a few examples for videos which could help you:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+install+wp7+on+hd2&aq=f
the first 4 results should be interesting for you
PS: For entering in Bootloader push Power button and hold the volume down button at the same time, until tri colour screen appears
Task 29?
What's that?
Task 29 basically formats NAND and leaves it completely blank, (think about formatting harddrive on your PC).
I would go into bootloader and flash a STOCK rom. Then flash a 576MB compatible radio. Then run Task 29. Then install magldr 1.13, then flash WP7.
That's the way I did it and have had no issues at all with WP7.

[Q] HELP!! Magldr v1.13 FatalHit Error T~T(Bricked Probably)

I've tried search engine, ive tried everything but my phone still wont boot up:
Im currently using HSPL2.08 and my phone was just fine installing Imilka's Desire HD Ram NAND version yesterday...Installed the rom via clockworkmod and it was just fine..but then yesterday my phone freeze so i pull out the battery..then when i started to boot up the phone again...at Magldr v1.13 the phone shows FatalHit error while loading ROM..Im using radio v2.15 btw
Stuff that I've tried to fix:
Tried Task29,Reflashed WinMo 6.5 stock rom v1.66,tried reinstall magldr v1.13 even tried v1.11 and tried using other radio, using 2 different sim cards and SD cards, tried flashing via USB(TriColour Boot) and SD...EVERYTHING!!
T~T I really dont know what to do...Please help...at this phone i just want my HD2 to be able to boot up again no matter what OS..just want my phone back..
more data needed.
it looks like you're saying it loads HSPL 2.08 then loads magldr then when it tries to load the ROM it gives the fatal thing right?
so what happens after you flash a winmo ROM? does it hang? where? what exactly happens when you turn on your phone? have you tried flashing stock WM6.5?
Yup the fatal error appear on magldr v.1.13
Ive tried task29..
Then when i tried install windows stock 6.5 it stuck on the white htc screen without any red letters on the bottom like usual..
It looks is a risk to do flashes, I have HTC HD2 and I'd lile to installa Android on Nand, but I'm scared by the possibles problems

I had the same problem. I tried every imaginable solution and nothing would work. I flashed WinMo from the bootloader screen, and SD card and it would sometimes load, but would freeze or hang up most of the time during boot. I tried flashing a DFT ROM, and it would boot about 20% of the time, and hang the rest. When it would boot, it would freeze once it got warm.
Luckily my phone was still under warranty.

The statistics are in your favor. If you were to compare all of the times that our HD2's have been flashed versus the amount that have been bricked, it would probably be less than 1% that have been bricked. IMO, Android is so much better than WinMo that it's well worth the risk.

I have the same problem. After trying everything, now it sometimes boots into windows but after a while it suddenly stops working and reboots and sucks on white htc screen....
Tomorrow it will go back for warranty...
does anyone knows how this fatal hit error happens? I used the phone without problems for over 2 weeks with android on nand, before the problems started.

I think that this is the problem that made us wait too long for MAGLDR.. cotulla thought that he fixed it but looks like he didin't... i think the bootloader has overwroten the SPL..
Can you guys give more details about your HD2s like "When have you bought it" "which screen you have" ?

It seems to me like many bad blocks on NAND...
How to verify that:
1) flash cLK (chose a partitioning your prefer)
2) via cmd run the following commands
Code:
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
If you have bad blocks it will show up in console of cLK
It will look like this
[6521] can't erase block @ 3424
[6521] bad block @ 3424 (or something like that)
You need to have adb drivers installed and fastboot.exe for the commands. If you don't have download them from here
Put the in a folder i.e. c:\android
navigate with cmd there and run the commands.
CWM can recognize bad blocks and skip them, therefore if you have many in each partition you can create larger partitions for /boot and /system and your phone will work properly until you decide to send it for repair.
If i remember well each block is 128KB

agree with that
Did a hd2 the other day. Fatal hit error popped up. Done hundreds of hd2s. Bricked 2. On the particular hd2 i booted into magldr and did a reset. Had to reboot bout 20x to finally work. When it finally booted the touch was unresponsive. After another 10 or so reboots it finally stuck. Easy phone to mod but highest brick rating for me. I flash phones for a living so i know what im doing. Ive bricked my own g1 learning back in 09 and bricked 2 hd2s in 2011. There must be certain hd2s that dont accept the flash. Ive noticed the hd2s with the dots in the screen have been the only ones that give a hard time. Are theres the euro version? I only flash android on them not keep up with its development.

[Solved] Problem flashing Android on HD2

Hey guys,
currently I´m trying to flash Android NAND on a HD2.
Apparently there are some problems with the bootloader.
I tried two different ways, which are explained in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060
First I tried to install MAGLDR 1.13. Here is the problem that MAGLDR 1.13 seems not to be properly installed because the phone wont boot in the MAGLDR bootloader. It just hangs at the green/white HTC bootscreen.
As second method I tried to flash cLK 1.4. Here the bootloader seems to be installed properly but it´s not possible to install the ClockworkMod Recovery. Every time I start the batch file it hangs on "waiting for device".
Since I tried some things I only can boot into the bootloader and no longer load Windows.
I´ve installed the latest radio (Radio Leo 2.15.50.14) and HSPL (3.03).
Any ideas what I can do know?
when you install magldr it wipes windows off the deivce, you are aware of that?
when you start the device with magldr you need to hold the power off button til you get the menu up then you can use the usb flasher if it is a daf installer or you need to install CWM recovery and install a rom that way
either way windows will no longer be on your device
Yeah I know this. But the problem is that the magldr bootloader is not booting. It hangs on the white HTC screen. Without any other reaction.

what version of android did you install? you need HSPL 2.08 or it will not work anways
if all you done was install magldr without install anything else it will do exactly as you have described because there is nothing for it to load up
I think you misunderstood me
Normally if magldr was installed correctly I should see a screen like this (http://www.xda-developers.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/MAGLDR-boot-menu.jpg), when I boot with hold power button+left arrow key.
But when I press this combination it does not boot to this screen. It just does nothing. And this is why I can´t proceed with any instruction, because I need a working magldr.

I'm new to all this too so bare with me.
I think you may have installed the wrong HSPL. This is from the HSPL thread.
Android / WP7 / MAGLDR don't support HSPL3.03/OSPL3.03.
You need HSPL2.08 to run Android / WP7 / MAGLDR
When you installed HSPL you chose the wrong option. Someone more knowlegable will hopefully come along and tell you how to fix it.
After destroying and downgrading of HSPL with an original HTC Win Rom I could install a new HSPL again...
Don´t ask me how I´ve done this, but it worked
So thanks to all!

Stuck At 'Go Go Go' & "nand kernel open failed" Errors

Earlier today my custom ROM froze. I rebooted the phone by taking the battery out and the phone would only go as far as the Magldr screen where it says "Go Go Go", no matter how many times I tried, the ROM wouldn't boot.
So I wiped my phone with Task29 (even tried installing an original WM6.5 ROM), and tried to reinstall Magldr and a new ROM. However, after I run Task29 and Magldr and turn the phone on, only the white HTC screen displays. I could not get the phone to display the Magldr menu.
Finally after repeating the above a couple of times, I managed to get the Magldr menu to display, but once I install the CM Recovery and enter AD Recovery to install the new ROM, Magldr again gets stuck after displaying 'Go Go Go!'.
I also note that as the phone boots up into Magldr, one of the lines say "nand kernel open failed".
Any idea what is happening and why I cannot boot into Ad Recovery (or my ROM) and always get stuck on 'Go Go Go!'?
it could be a corrupted NAND ic?

if that is the case it seems like your nand is OK or there could be just soem bad blocks(i'm just guessing here)
how about giving this a try then run an SD version before going to NAND version
.. run HD2 toolkit
...bootloader
- HSPL 2.08
- Task 29
- Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14 >>> not necessary if you have it already
- MagLDR
- MagLDR Repartition 300/ 45
...boot to magldr
- Magldr
- Service
- Boot source > ad sd
