quite, dear sir, quite.
i never liked them..
Why on earth did the Incredible S get 8 points and the Arc 7? Same chips, Arc has a bigger and better screen, better camera, looks great and sleek, comes with 2.3 already (!), only has less RAM. And did they even mention sound/call quality?
Engadget is a bad joke.

But I do agree with them that the videocam is terrible ! I hope they can fix that.
Personally I'd give it 8 out of 10 but that comes from a guy who just ordered one today and cant wait to get it on friday. Guess I "want" it to be 8/10.
Ah what the hell, its gonna be awesome
I love how they wouldnt stop talking about how thin the iphone 4 was but it was barely mentioned in the Arc review and when it was, it was shown in a negative light. The iphone 4 should have gotten a 7 just for the fact that the screen is so bloody small.
Horrible Engadget horrible.
Theres another review over at What Mobile, quite thorough and seems generally positive. They gave the phone a 5 out of 5
Sadly i cant paste links yet, but google sony ericsson arc review and you should see it, or go to What Mobile's site
The only downside to the Arc's buttonry is one we spotted with the Xperia Play as well -- there's no illumination for the key labels in the dark. You get a pair of lights marking the division between each key, but their purpose is basically indecipherable when the phone's used in the dark

I do not bother visiting Engadget any more as they are only positive with Apple products. Time to clean out the reviewers I think and get some fresh faces there that will give us unbiased opinions on new technology from non fan boys.
I was hopping the camera was as good as they were making out it was going to be in there advertising lets hope there can be a software update to improve the quality a little.
Engadget is a good source for review
You can check also CNet UK which give good review
(http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/sony-ericsson-xperia-arc-review-50002090/)
The point is that SE saves money where they should not
Giving little RAM make no sense
It makes the machine slow when running new games or multi-tasking and this is not what the end user want
It is difficult enough to compete with dual-cores so at least give us 512mb or 768mb - this is also probably the reason why the camera video is jerky
Camera also not as good as advertised since small sensor
Nice. I have a feeling that a Factory unlocked Xperia ARC will be my next device . IF the unlock bootlader thing comes out first!
Positive review on Pocket Lint as well.

It's far better than the iPhone 4 camera. I have both.
And the advertisement was mainly in the low light capabilities, where it's FAR better than the iPhone.

1) arc has 512 ram. all new xperias have 512 ram
2) the camera is awsome, for a phone. there are comparison vids between iphone4 and arc.. you see the difference lol
3) camera is not jerky cuz of low ram. lol. or am i wrong here? but still if it can be, they must have had a ton of apps in the background, since 300+ mb of user available ram is MORE than enough for a friggin camera lol.
Even while multitask-gaming (multiple games open at once) and listening to music and just using my Arc for general stuff, I haven't dropped below 80MB free RAM. And I do not use task killers or kill processes. RAM is really not a problem ATM.
The camera is really, really good for a phone. Only the Nokia N8 has a better camera. Especially in low light, the photos might not be really really good, but they're still by far the best of all mobile phone cameras. In such a small and slim device it's impossible to fit a larger sensor, so it's impossible to get a much better camera anyway.
Camera video jerky? There's a small bug that makes video hang for half a second when switching between very dark and very light images, but that is the only thing I've noticed, and it happens very rarely.

It should be clear by now that this review article, outlived in a day, was a mere April's Fools Day joke. We have a proper Arc review up online, so you should refer to that instead. We're glad you saw the funny side of it. If you are interested, you can find more about the Lorem ipsum dolor text here. To see more of our 1st April's spirit, check out our Genesis tablet.

Yup, Arpil fool. They have a real review up but i can't link it.
The lorem ipsum dolor text is an old Microsoft joke used to display how fonts appear in Word to give the user an idea which font to choose. The text means nothing, it's a bunch of words sounding Latin and therefore important and smart.

REALLY blurry photos unfortunately
It has "cyber-shot" on the front (where Xperia is for our X10). This would be great for those of us that are looking for a great shooter on Android phones. I think part of the whole cyber shot branding is that it would use Carl Zeiss lenses (oh, K790, for 3.2 megapixels you took great shots).
From what else I could see, it seems that it retains the newer SE 3 button layout with the back button on the left side and menu button on the right. Instead of 3 horizontal chrome buttons, it appears to circular buttons with chrome edges that run to the edges of the phone.
I might take the images to photoshop later in order to more accurately 'guesstimate' the screen size, but offhand it looks like it uses the 4.2" screen from the Arc (just by looking at the overall dimensions of the phone and estimating the bezel)
As for what sensor it might use...
Maybe it will use the 16 mp sensor of what's found in the Arc? (IMX081PQ, Exmor-R, 16 mp 0.31" area) (The Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot S006 uses this sensor). So I take back the Carl Zeiss comment earlier since the S006 is branded as a cyber-shot phone and doesn't use any higher quality lenses. But I think it's a strong probability that we'll see an Android SE with 16 mp.
hmm...interesting.
bro its fake!those are just concepts sony would never bring us those features!
thx for the share
I'm done with sonyericsson phones until I see evidence that they're not still just out to screw their customers for every cent they can and not follow up with good support.

For me the x10 can be seen as 9/11 "never forget"
I don't like the the stock ROMS on Xperia X10, hence I use only XDA ROMS. I quite like the MIUI roms from TRINRAVER, and for that reason alone I am willing to use a SE phone.
Otherwise, when talking stock ROMS and support, SE.. never again. Probably next would be HTC.
most new android phones now have got better hardware than arc or any other SE new phones
except the design , SE is suprior in this , but that alone wont help
my next buy will HTC , never again SE
I'll wait for the official Gingerbread Update, then i will decide.
The specs of the SGS 2 / LG Optimus Speed are quite good, handling of an iphone 4 really smooth too. There are many good Phones.
@jojo1212: You're right, but too much plastic. Yesterday i held the iphone 4 in my hands, no comparison to the x10, but double the price
Unfortunately, the new Xperia phones just don't have the hardware to compete with the likes of the Galaxy S II, which will be my next phone unless SE releases a powerful Xperia Play 2 this year.

The SGS2 is seriously not the ultimate big baddy of all phones.
Tegra2 anyone?
Main thing I will been choosing SE or other is that it is a device that can be bootloader unlocked. simple! remove the stress of always wanting the latest update.
although i have been a SE man my entire life, my next phone is definitely going to me the SGS2, hands down.
Its currently THE BEST android phone money can buy. 1.2GHz Dual Core processor, 1 GB RAM, 16 or 32gb INTERNAL (with external microsd slot, so an additional 32gb can be added). 4.3" Super AMOLED screen, 8mp camera with 1080p video recording, worlds thinnest smartphone, etc etc...
nothing but good reviews all over the net. cant go wrong.
although no other line of phones look as SEXY as the Xperia's (X10 and Arc to be more specific)
i want that phonee!

I found it the other way around.. SGS II display is a bit dark, but maybe that's all the video camera's fault too.

No it look like that on the camera. i also had that when making a movie of the screen between lcd and amoled. Amoled looked always better but in reality they where the same. and sometime the arc screen was better (playing movie).
so don't be mislead with what you see on camera

I had both phones and the main reason I stayed with Arc is because of display. GS2 colors are way-off from reality. Darks look very dark. For example, my contacts photo looked terrible when they had shadows on their face while on Arc, they looked like they looked on my PC LCD Monitor.
Arc color with Bravia Engine looks very natural where SG2 looks very artificial. I like Arc's display the most.
speed aside, arc wins over sgs2 hands down and the stock home launcher is actually the prettiest-looking among other manufacturer IMO
The speed difference is NOTHING for real usage.
In reverse Samsung looks like cheap **** and Arc looks like a masterpiece.
It's design is real. Samsung is just disgusting. The same with UI.
(My opinions).
And one very important thing:
Arc may be tad slower sometimes but do you see HOW MUCH LAG SGSII has EACH time coming back to homescreen?! Outrageous considering it's DOUBLE POWER.
And besides that SGSII has some serious flaws like NO multiple email delete (!!!).
Those things are "kindly" omitted BTW in Eldars review proving again that he's manipulator and cheater.
C'mon guys. Double core will be something next year. Now it's just a gimmick.
OK, go look at 1st video:
- at 6:20 :
See how well-lit the left wall and the ground on SE Arc, while GS II display really dark color
- at 6:29 :
The surrounding around 2 pillars are still well-lit on SE arc, not so much in GS II
- Rotating planet at 6:35:
SE arc shows a nice blue space on the background, while in SGS II, it's darker. You can also see the total-roundness of the orange planet, while in SGS II you don't see it.
From the video, that's what I noticed in display.
EDIT:
Although at 6:44, the rotating DNA animation, the blue displayed in Arc is a bit more cyan-ish, while in SGS II display a deep blue. Which one is the correct one? idk.
Im still happy with the arc i dont give a crap!

arc just beats the crap out of galaxy s2.. sony is sony.. sony means style, sony means design.. no one can reach up to it.. s2 is nothing but a big brick..
arc nails in terms of design and style.. performence is just behind a fraction of seconds.. who cares about that.. if that little fraction of second is what the advantage of a dual core device.. then **** it..
i still have an x10.. and after using it.. all other phones just look crap.. styleless.. if thats a word..lol

Wow, that looks sexy. Altough I know it isn't official I like it. I also hope that the 4.5 inch will go to 4.3 inch or lower. It's to big! Defintely my next phone. It something ''original'' instead of copied.
Top part does look like a HTC, whole thing looks fake.
What are the chances of Sony Ericsson using ST-Ericsson processors for their upcoming dual core phones? Apparently the U8500 and the NovaThor Processors are pretty powerful and very power efficient.
Looks ugly.
I have always hated how SE moved the 'XPERIA' wording from below the LCD screen (X10) to below the hardware buttons (Arc), it just doesn't look right.
The proportions of the 'Duo' look messed up.
intersdating...........
seems fake & ugly

Wow!that's cool!how many months have past since the arc is out?now we are getting a new xperia!!haha SE is getting really ridiculous! Would be better for them if they recall the arc totally and keep investing on the x10 till this "duo" is coming out! I foresee a really short lifespan for the arc!

whoever design this, they better sent this design back to drawing board or facing the consequences of low sales for this phone
If this is to be x8 segment price I still can understand, but for dual core flagship smartphone, it made lg optimus 2x looks like a state of the art design.
I think the design is pretty good. I mean how many ways can you design a phone that's basically made up of entirely of a touch screen? There is a new pic going around with the Duo right next to the Arc that can be found at the bottom of this link:
http://www.brightsideofnews.com/new...-preps-a-dual-core-smartphone-xperia-duo.aspx
From the looks of things, it might still have an "arc" form factor.

I agree. We need to see the back of it to make the decision on whether or not it looks ugly. I'm hoping it doesn't follow the htc battery cover design choices....

I read that the Ray features the good old Snapdragon at 1Ghz, 3.3 inch screen, an 8MP Exmor camera and the usual 854*480 resolution.
The Active having the same Snapdragon, 3 inch screen, 320*480 resolution, the same camera.

And how do you know it's a mid-range? 1ghz is no mid-range phone. However if the phone is very cheap, it's mid-range as you say.
Arc has a screen 1 inch bigger than the Ray, and that's a big deal. And I gotta say 1Ghz phone is becoming very mid range by today's standards (it's a 2 and a half years old chip, remember?).

Tell me how many phones are clocked above 1ghz. Not much, so you can definetely not call 1ghz phones mid-range. As I early said, only when they are very cheap.
For me, a 350€ phone is the top of the mid range prices, Xperia Neo costs 350€ free, and I bet Ray is gonna cost the same, if not less than 350€.
Hell, even SE X10 costs like 249€ sim free nowadays and that's a very mid range price.

Yes the SEX10 is for sure mid-range, because hardware became old. And with old I mean, there is are phones with more efficient hardware. (More battery saving etc...)
Why is everyone so quick to knock the x10. It is still a very competitive phone and still has one of the top cameras in the market. The new line up is kind of interesting. I rather like the ray as it is exactly a mini Arc and is very nice looking. As for the Active its kind of a neat idea. an android phone (on 2.3.3) designed for people with an active lifestyle i.e.jogging,working out, exercise, and its water resistant to boot. Up to 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes. If i was in the market for a smaller phone I would definitely go for the ray. 1Ghz is still plenty of power for a device in your pocket don't ya think. It wasn't all that long ago our home computers were running those speeds and now its in our pockets. We won't see any real powerhouse cpu's in phones for sometime. GS2 is 1.2 dual core, so not much faster just one more processor. If you really wanna get hyped up check out the Sony Xperia Leon.
SEX X10 is still one the best phone in market-
just a look at the features if people forgot:
8 megapixel cam with HD recording
4 inch touchscreen
1500 mhz battery
1 ghz processor
stylish(than any other CURRENT HTC and samsung)
Gingerbread
what else do 1 need from a phone and that too at this price
X10 is STILL being sold as main phone from SE in many countries
Yeah just the same old thing. The 3 classic buttons, arc's theme and launcher and the blue background. They have released like 6 xperias like that. It's getting boring...
