This is for those who aren't with T-Mobile and only have the AT&T, Australia, etc HD2s not the 1024.
dharvey4651 isn't the only one with a request! Looking for someone to build us a Desire HD NAND ROM that is as 100% Generic and Stock as you can possibly make it.
What it needs to be:
No applications, images, functions, media removed.
No custom applications added, no non default applications added.
Voice control on keyboard must work.
Camera works. Camcorder = Don't care.
GPS Fix?? If possible that is.
Rooted + Superuser installed.
WiFi + Bluetooth working. (MAC addresses)
HTC WiFi Hotspot most work
Default applications work precisely.
All functions must work.
English (United States) as default language. I only speak English, therefore I'm biased and don't care about other languages
Must work on the NON T-MOBILE HTC HD2s
NO CUSTOM CRAP. I want EVERYTHING stock. That means: NO custom boot-screens, themes, icons, etc. It must be stock, you can add your copyright under About under settings.
NO Carrier specific software. Generic ONLY.
App2SD must work.
Basically want a default Desire HD NAND ROM that feels like the real Desire HD ROM that you'd get if you picked up a HTC Desire HD. I want it as stock as you can make it, not customized. If I or any other users want it custom, we can do it ourselves after.
Example ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857261
Like Harvey, I will pay $50 (VIA PAYPAL) to whoever releases the NAND ROM meeting my requirements above.
(NOTE: This is for your time and services only. It is NOT for the ROM as that would be a violation of Xda rules and the Android GPL)
If you got any features you want, post.
Same from here.
Bump.

I think your specs might be unrealistic.....not squashed...nothing removed....tmobile users could get away with this because they had twice the rom.
I have a tmous. Just want to add/tell ya.. Rom should be zip aligned for performance.. And if your thinking of theming it, it would have to be deodexed which will make the rom bigger..

I just removed the squashed bit. Nothing has to be removed, I've seen it worked on NAND without being removed.
To the top.
Please have working camera effects as well....

Sorry for another noob question, but i own a blackstone for 2 weeks now and
i'm trying to realize why there are so many different ROMs out there.
* i'm not asking a "which rom question", just trying to learn more.
So.. i have a new blackstone with WM6.1 and TF3d. why do i need to install
a ROM anyway? i know i don't have to, but i see many people talking about it
and i feel that i'm missing something.
I would say... if you are happy with your ROM, there's no reason to change. In general, the usual reasons are:
- Your ROM is branded (Orange, T-Mobile...) and you don't need the 'extras' that your carrier has included in default ROM.
- You want to make some 'tuning' or your device and someone has cooked a ROM which includes all the patches, tricks and regisitry changes that will make your device better
- There are new versions of TF3D, camera program, or any other default program and HTC does not offer these updates to you, are only included in a new device; however you will always find a cooked ROM where these updates are included.
- Customization: Some cooked ROMs include nice TF3D customization, wallpapers, and a set of finger-friendly applications pre-installed. If you are bored with default settings and you don't like to spend much time downloading & trying things, a new ROM could be an option.
I'm still using the ROM that came with my unit.
My personal reason to flash a new (custom) rom, is to get more out of the HD then HTC give me originally. I just knew it had more potential (and I was right ). Plus, I like to play around with PC's, gadgets etc.
What's all this about newer radio versions?
Why do people rebuild old cars? why add 4-barrel carb and headers ect. Many reasons many cooked roms preform better than stock. other include apps in the rom not included by your vender. Others flash just to tinker, its fun to try the newest latest. Mosttly its to customize what you have and make it diffrent from the 100,000 other HDs
I would be very cautious about flashing your device with unofficial ROMs. While making a few improvements they carry a potentially large number of glitches. So if you're an adventurous type, go for it. Otherwise stick to the official ROM.

Link to new radio's thread here and flashing radio's in wiki here
The radio provides improvements on the GSM radio stack and this has effect on the GSM signal, AT command interface, GSM data modem (3G, GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, etc...) functionality that is controlled by the Radio Interface Layer (RIL). The radio stack has nothing to do with WiFi or bluetooth -- it is only for the GSM/WCDMA(3G) part of the device.
Newer radio's our released which may improve GSM signal, although certain radio's work better for different countries/areas.
Ok now i get it.
I have the original ROM that came with my device and after i've found out why
people change their ROMs i think it doesn't really worth it.
The only thing i've found useful is changing my radio version, which works really
good. so now i have radio v1.12 installed.
Of course i like to tweak my device and configure it to my own needs, but for
this reason i've installed many apps without flashing a cooked ROM.

What a warm welcome that guy got.
It answered most of the question I have about using cooked (non-official) roms too.
If we are using non official ROMs can we still change the TF3D theme's and look of the Touch HD?
I am having trouble finding the best set of applications to replace the calendar, mail, SMS etc etc... I guess this is a regular question, BUT any suggestions?

Not to make you feel left out....Welcome to xda developers!!
There are numerous different themes and applications you can use to change your phones appearance. They can all be found in the applications forum located here. Do a general search for what you are looking for i.e. themes or calendar and see what threads aleady exist before creating any new ones. An example of a thread is this one Customizing TF3D - The Collection!
Hope this helps

Good day,
Sorry sorry sorry in advanced if this has been asked before.
I did not find it using the search (the search does not like me)
I used to have windows mobile phones.
And i flashed roms every week.
but on my android, i have done nothing yet.
Because i am pretty happy with it the way it is.
the only thing at this moment i can think of what would be nice, if is it would be a little bit faster.
So i,m just wondering.
If i flash a different rom.
What will change for me.
I read that there are different roms that differ in the "Google experience"
So what will happen for me in the android market, will i have it, and will i see the same apps i am seeing now.
What are the other advantages of flashing?
I don't want to end up with a rom that does not give me what i gave now + more.
so basically... is it worth it?
i have the B version.
htc magic from vodafone Netherlands.
This is what I know:
After get the root and flash, you will have everything has normally you have with the exception of the updates for android (for example, if you root, I think you will not have the option to update the android cupkake to donut) but most probably that you will be able to update it any way using the info in the forum...
From that, market and everything will work exactally the same as it's working for you right now...
The other difference will be the "the google experience"... There are actually 2 kind of Magics (Sapphires) devices... the "vodafone" one (google experience) and the HTC one (just HTC experience xD)...
The main difference is that the vodafone one has less ram than the htc (192 against 288 or something like that) and the vodafone uses only the android that google gives you, instead, the HTC one will have the HTC Sense (the same desktop that is using the HTC Hero right now) and you will be able to use the donut as well...
So I think the main advantage goes to the HTC Magic (HTC Magic is 32A, the Vodafone one is 32B board)...
I have rooted my phone (HTC Magic 32A) and I'm able to use any 32A rom I like and I have everything enabled (market, google maps, etc...)
It works like a charm =D...
PD: sorry if my english is not so good, I speak spanish and even I can understand english sometimes I can't write it or speak it very well...
Hi
I have a rooted HTC Hero (from Telus, Canada)
I installed Villainrom 10.3.2, but I don't like Sense that much, so I tought of changing to a vanilla ROM. Especially, I would like to have the application "contact" instead of "people" and the vanilla google phone. I don't care that much about facebook integration and I don't tweet. I simply want something fast and usable.
I can't figure what the main differences between ezHero and VanillaEclair are? Which one is more popular? I saw there is also SuperHero which is supposed to be a mix of sense and vanilla.
Any recommendation?
I also have telus hero,i use ezhero, I've gone though them all, love vanilla roms this is the best I've come across... If you don't like android keyboard, swype and htc_ime keyboards can be found with a quick google search
Sent from my EzHero using XDA App
thanks
I tried it and it works well so far.
Only downside, when I select the French Canada locale, the keyboard is in AZERTY mode (as most French speakers use, but we in Canada use QWERTY).
But I don't know any ROM which has it fine, except the original canadian ROMs.
I found a workarround: install the anykeyboard app.
Next thing I would like to know, is there a way, when changing of ROM, to do not loose all my settings and installed apps?
I heard that ez hero is fabulous!
what is the most vanilla ROM? I prefer adding apps myself, most ROMS here seems to be really customized and it seems to add bugs.
Hello,
I'm finally buying the HD2 that I should of bought when i got my nokia N97.
It's the T-Mobile flavor by design as i intend to use it on iWireless 3g which is an affiliate and uses the same 1700/2100 3g.
I intend to unlock it via code and then plan to unbrand it via firmware and via facia replacement.
I'm looking for the latest unbranded/streamlined/stable T-Mobile USA rom that is out??
suggestions???
also, will i need to replace the boot splash or is that included in the rom?
Thank you
main suggestion is go to the tmous (t mo us) specific section and look there.
less risk of flashing the wrong thing.

The U.S. HD2 has smaller physical dimensions than international HD2s.
well the front facia is specifically for T-mobile hd2(but unbranded) so i still fail to see the problem..
I unlocked it, hspl3, and flashed 3 diff roms so far.
kumar, energy and now laurentius v4 which im extremely happy with.
So basically a done deal.
unlocked, debranded, and now using iwireless 3g 1700/2100
within an hour of receiving it thanks to this website.
So whats up with the screen position??
my n97 changes the orientation as i turn the phone from up to landscape and back..the hd2 seems to only do this in certain apps and menu items?
is this a hardware issue or win mobile?
I guess im just a little confused about this..

The screen rotation is only enabled in certain apps, yes. The easiest way to enable it in a program that doesn't have it already, is to download and install BSB tweaks, which has an option to let you asign auto-rotation abilities to virtually any program that you can install on your device.
Thank you.

New Question
Ok,
Things are going great...love the phone. blows away the N97 in most regards...
I Really like it.
MMS & WAP all configured on the phone which is running "unlimited - 3G Talk Text Data" Pay In Advance with iWireless(T-Mobile affiliate)...3G working Great..etc..
The Question I have now is can i run a T-Mobile Rom and enter my own mms settings? or will it just default to the locked down tmobile mms setting on the stock rom? Is there a new version of a connection wizard-tool-setup that has Iwireless prepaid and actually will work with a T-Mobile Rom?
I'm using the cracing Rom at the moment and really like it but I also like the idea of using the stock T-Mobile roms...even though iWireless is a T-Mobile affiliate they do not share the same mms settings...
LIL HELP?
is there a config tool to do this for me or a reg hack?
my current rom has a great "Connection Setup" app which works great..
I'm beginning to ramble so i will just leave it at that and I hope someone Can help with this...I presume someone else has been in this situation..??
the connection app you refer to is 'connectionsetup' which all roms except tmous have as standard.
Do a search for connectionsetup.cab, its available in several threads. Plus, since its a cab install, you can install it, it runs automatically at restart, sets up your connection, then you can uninstall it, saving 12meg.
yup, i found like 6 of them and found a couple that work quite well.
I have a new question...I'm having problems with icons being jagged on apps that are installed after the flash...
Is there an icon rebuild app or something to remedy this?
rebooting doesnt fix it..
its driving me nuts..
I have a nice looking list of apps etc and then these straglers that look oddly out of place due to their resolution...
there is i think an icon cache which you can clear, but ive never dealt with it so dont know where it is. Look in the hints and tips threasd maybe.
Introduction:
I have been around for a few years "cooking" Windows Mobile ROMs for various CDMA devices from the Titan and ending with the Rhodium. I took a break form Windows Mobile and bought an EVO and had cook a few android ROMS, but had gotten very bored with the lack of internal customization of Android, so I decided to buy another WM 6.5 phone and restart my favorite pass-time hobby.
Concept:
The "concept" of this ROM is based off of what HTC did with its Sense interface and how deeply HTC embedded Sense within the Android OS. I like using Sense on Windows Mobile and wanted to do the same with what I believe HTC should have done with WM 6.5.3, so this ROM is alot different from your normal ROM as it is solely based and dependant on Sense.
Features:
This is not a "feature" ROM in fact most of your normal Sense features like Facebook intergration, Twitter, and Footprints have been disabled and removed for the time being since those are services that I do not heavily rely on, however if interest persist I may add Twitter and Facebook intergration later. The ROM does contain most of HTC's common Sense software such as Audio Booster to the Voice Recorder with the removal of the "bloat" software such as the WorldCard Business Card Reader, Java Blend, and JetCet Printing.
Summary:
This basis of this is to remove as much un-neccessary parts of the WM 6.5.3 OS to replace it with Sense to make Sense as much of the main OS as possible.
Instructions for flashing:
Code:
This ROM is compatible with all HD2 devices manufactured by HTC.
If you're a beginner, please read as there's a few things you need to do first.
•You need to install a modified SPL on your device that allows installation of custom ROMs such as this one. It's called a Hard SPL and it's here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433.
•You need to install a compatible radio that works with this ROM. The radios that work with this ROM all have ".50" in their name.
If you have a TMobile USA branded device, then you don't need to flash a radio. The ROM will work just fine with it. However, if you own an asian or european HD2 then you NEED to flash a .50 radio.
* :HSPL 1.66 Minimum recommended.
* :No Radio is included in this release.
* :Correct radio needed to enable 576 ram for NON-T-Mous HD2 users.
* :Please hard reset after flashing.
Info about the ROM:
* Base official T-Mous stock 3.14.531 (T-Mobile US HD2 and HTC HD2 EU compatible)
* MS build 23152 WM6.5.3
*Only compatible with radio version: 2.xx.50.xx
Available memory:
Storage: over 750 mb
Program: over 300 mb
576mb ram enabled
It's a very light rom with all of the HTC "stock" look, there is no user customization built in

TESTING THE ROM FOR PERFORMANCE
* Flash the ROM
* Hard reset after ROM Flash orTask 29 before Flashing ROM either choice
* DO NOT INSTALL ANY 3RD PARTY APPS UNTIL TRYING THE ROM FIRST AND READING IF YOUR SOFTWARE IS COMPATIBLE WITH WM6.5.3, This will help to give you the experience of the base ROM
* I dont use 3rd party apps or tweak since my rom is tweaked how i use it daily.
* After testing the rom and your'e happy, Install your software one at a time then soft reset and try the device to see if anything any bugs occur.
Disclaimer:
This is a ROM that I created for myself with me in mind, that I am sharing with the XDA community. If enough general interest is surfaces any feature that is not present or that should be remove will be taken into consideration in future ROMS.

cabs are silly for simple registry tweaks.
Since you did not get an answer raven, the entries are listed below. Change them to 0 or delete them if you want the stock 6.5.x interface.
