I have a Galaxy Tab (T-Mobile version). At least a couple of times a day, at random, the Tab goes into "slow motion". It's like there's some process that has gone crazy and is eating up all the CPU time. This happens randomly....I don't see any particular pattern. When it happens, about all I can do is to do a force shutdown by holding the power button in for about 10 seconds and then re-start.
Anybody else seeing this happen? Any ideas? Troubleshooting thoughts?
Ken
Droid X
Samsung Galaxy Tab
press and hold the power till the airplane mode /data conection menu pops up then just back out of that menu and that should fix it.
If not root it using z4root and install One click lag fix (OCLF) for tab and get a task killer from the market.

My N7 was flawless until some days ago.
Usually to turn on, I had to press the power button for 4s and it would turn on, never ever failed. Also on the boot sequence (the X of nexus), it took relatively low time, even when I had all of my currents apps installed (nothing changed).
For the last days, it's happening that sometimes the device doesn't wake up after pressing the button. I've checked and I have to press it for 20-25s in order to see the "Google" logo and have it start booting.
Also, the nexus "X" boot animation also randomly takes like 4x longer, and it seems to not have any relation with the 20s pressing issue, since it happened me both with the 4s and 20s pressing power-on times.
But both of those issues came together.
Anyone else with the same issue? Would a factory reset solve the problem?
Thank you in advance.

How much memory is free on your N7? I've seen posts from people who have had similar issues when they came close to filling up the memory on their N7.

16 GB model, more than 6GB left.
It has been like that for the last 2 weeks.
It's bone stock. I haven't even bothered to root it yet. Recently in the last week or two, sometimes after I updated to the most recent update the phone has become sluggish. The keyboard will sometimes take a long time to pop up and then when it does it will be laggy to type. It reminds me of how the stock messaging app was which is why I installed Textra.
Hitting the home or power button doesn't always take it up, I've tried holding the home button and still doesn't seem to work, still just a black screen. Holding the power button down it will eventually bring up the menu with "power off, reboot" etc on it and then I can use the home button but still sluggish.
I tried booting into Safe Mode and that seems to make it work normally.
I can't remember installing anything new recently so I'm wondering what could have caused the issues I'm experiencing? I know the boards are mostly geared towards people that root their phone and install custom roms but this is driving me crazy.
I uninstalled Yahoo Weather. It had been acting weird lately anyway and it seems to have fixed things... no idea why. Very strange.
wow--weird, but glad you got it--:good:
if you reinstall yahoo weather try clearing data and cache for app in settings/apps and see if that helps

I have to press it 2-3 times before the phone powers on. It doesn't happen all the time. it's very intermittent, but it does happen. After doing a factory reset, the button still performs the same. This just stated happening 2 days ago. I didn't drop it or get it wet. Anyone else experiencing this or do I have a faulty power button? I also get a delay when using the home button to turn on the phone. The home button issue might be due to the SD card though. Really love this phone, but this issue is frustrating!
You have to press and hold the power button for a few seconds to turn the phone on from cold.
The home button is probably because of S Voice which is set to activate with a double click of it, so it'll wait to see if you click it twice before going to the home screen, you can disable this in S Voice's settings.

Sometimes I have to press the power button more than once to put the phone to sleep. Do you experience the same? Is this normal? I am coming from a GS2. This never happened. I purchased an unlocked phone from GSM Nation. I am past the 15 day window to return, so I don't know how they will proceed. If I send my phone to Samsung, I'll be without a phone.

To be honest, no, it goes 'to sleep' pretty instantly with one press on mine.

You might not be pressing the button deep enough. If pressed properly, it should go to sleep with just one press. Long press will pop up the shutdown/restart menu. If turned off, long press of 2 sec will power on the phone.

Yes, I'm having this problem and I think others are too. I've had 10-30 second wake up lags at times (I have one of them recorded for proof). I got a replacement phone yesterday and while I didn't use it long enough to experience all of the lags, it had a pretty constant 2 second wake up lag. I'm now using SoftLocker to prevent the phone from going into deep sleep and that's minimizing the lag.

I guess it depends on the RAM utilization. The delay happens to me when the RAM is highly utilized.
Does anyone who is having lag issues, have ART as their runtime? I had such nasty lag with ART that I almost took my phone back. Once I switched back to Dalvik, everything was really fast. If you don't know what ART or Dalvik is, then it's probably something else.

Long story short... did a full wipe and reinstall of 4.4.2 because after a couple updates on Next Launcher 3D, my phone was giving me nothing but grief with a variety of errors. Now with this fresh install and only the following apps installed:
Mi Xplorer
Titanium Backup
Puffin
MX Player
Groove IP
RingTo
CamScanner
Google Keep
App Hider
Sygic Maps
Poweramp
WeatherBug
aCalendar
Zello
My phone is freezing on me multiple times a day and I'm ready to throw it against the wall.
What I noticed is, that it seems to freeze after it sits idle for an hour or two... but runs fine as long as I am messing with it. I can literally tinker with the phone for hours and all is good, but as soon as I put it down and not touch it... FREEZE! When I am sleeping I always wake up like every 1 1/2 - 2 hrs and I check the time and over an 8 hour period, it will be frozen at least 3 out of 4 times.
Also noted is this when it freezes: I hit power/lock button to turn on screen and attempt to scroll and nothing... if I hit power/lock again to turn off screen... rehitting power/lock will not turn phone back on and will eventually reboot on it's own.
Noticed this when I have Lock Screen Turned off: If I turn on screen and hold down Home button it will still open and close Recent Apps but frozen on that screen and if I hold Home button to turn on and off the Recent Apps, after a couple times the WiFi icon will vanish and then eventually come back up and alakazam the phone is no longer frozen.
Anyone have a clue? Just guessing, but it almost seems to be a WiFi issue because why would the WiFi unfreeze the phone once it turns back on?
Appreciate all the suggestions and help... figured out what was causing the freezes and 2 days straight now freeze free.
I'm having the same problem. What worked for you? Thanks.
My phone was getting severe lag, so I hit restart. It's been frozen with the screen on for over 6hrs now. Has anyone else had this? How do I prevent it? What can I do right now? I don't understand how my battery isn't dead.
I've tried - holding the power button for an extended period, pressing buttons in different combos, plugging it in, removing the SIM card.
My phone:
No root
No mods
Minimal apps
Tons of memory
Less than 2 months old
I've had random lag and freezes every few days. A reboot always fixes it. Thoughts?

Holding the power button for 45 seconds should shut it off.

It's done it 2 more times now.
If you hold the power + vol up + vol down for ten seconds it will reboot. I did a factory reset. This is unacceptable. I'll be attempting to exchange this phone.
Unrelated is that WiFi calling sometimes works, sometimes not. Sometimes it's in the settings, other times not. The known issue with the fingerprint sensor is crap too. Been an Android guy since the beginning. Never been so disappointed I bought a phone.
If anyone else figures what this is from please share.

sounds like you got a dud, I'd return it ASAP for another one. The QA on these is so sketchy.

There is nothing wrong with your phone dude they all do that from time to time. It just happened to me (06/06/2018) a couple minutes ago...... press and hold the volume down and the power button for 10-15 seconds and it will reset the phone to the logo screen and you will be able to login. No need to wait until the battery dies.
