Flashed False Rom - G2 and Desire Z General

Hi,
I have following problem:
Yesterday i tryed to follow the unroot and S-on guide but it was late and i flashed the g2 rom to my Desire z.
Now i cant recover back to my stock sense rom. Every time i try, i am stuck at the htc splash screen.
I've tried serveral other e.g CM7 rc0, some Stock Htc roms, and 2 other rom.
The only Rom that is working is the virtuos rom, it showes me in Settings->Phone identity->Model Number "tmobile-g2" i think thats the problem why i cant flash back to another rom.
Can someone help mi please fix this?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english.

You can use any of the custom ROMs, doesn't matter if it is a G2 or DZ. Have you used all of the wipe functions in the recovery before flashing a new ROM?

Hi,
The problem was that i flashed the g2 stock rom...
I changed my clockwork recovery version from 3.0.0.0 to 2.5.1.1 and i was able to restore to my old backup.
But i have 3 more Problems now. I have no Settings and no on screen keyboard and can't root (every time i try sense restarts and then my phone crashes).
I am trying now to install a RUU to get everything back to stock.

Use a pc10img.zip to restore everything back to stock.

I've tried but hboot posts me "lack of heap!"

[Q] Return to Stock Settings

I have a BELL Desire Z which I rooted, S-Off and then flashed with the HTC Sense ROM from Paul O'brien. I am having more issues than anything so I want to know how I get back to the stock ROM.
I take it you dont have a nandroid backup? You could try that RUU method, it usually restores your self back to stock. I have my stock nandroid iimage lying around if ya need it.
Sent from HTC Desire Z using XDA App
The bell rom posted is .1, not the .5 version that's shipped.. so I don't think it's the same. So the RUU method wouldn't work..
I did a backup, but will it reset all my personal settings etc?
Is there a stock released ROM from HTC or bell or even an update on the way?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Be careful ! Do not try to flash an RUU that is older than the ROM you have, if you have S-OFF or you could end up bricking your phone - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838484
You can use the "debranding" guide in the dev forum to go back to an older ROM if you have S-OFF.
In about it says the software is 1.34.405.5
What do I need to do exactly to get back to stock safely.

If your current ROM is 1.34.405.5, then you should be able to safely use either the stock 1.34.405.5 RUU, or the ROM extracted from that.
It's if you're trying to flash a ROM with a lower version number than that you're already running, if you're S-OFF, that you'll run into problems.
Thanks for the info, is there anywhere to download the stock Bell ROM from? Alot of these threads are confusing for a n00b like myself with all the abbreviations and different versions.
I basically want to get back to stock, root the phone, delete the bloatware and overclock it.
I was wondering... if you made a nandroid backup after having done some app installations and such of the stock rom, and you flashed back to that backup, you'd have your original ROM with all the app installations and settings you set right? What happens if you then proceed to do a factory reset? Does the ROM revert back to stock? Or does it simply revert back to the state of the ROM when you made the backup?

Although several stock ROMs are on this forum, unfortunately it looks like the current Bell ROM isn't there, only an older one. It would obviously be very useful if someone could get hold of it and upload it.
You can do a factory reset to set everything back to how your ROM came initially, if it's still on the stock ROM. But if you want to delete the bloatware and overclock etc, you may well be better flashing a different ROM, have a look and see what ones sound good.
My question is sort of along the line of that of the OP, since I'm somewhat new to this process still I hope you'll humor me. I've done a ton of reading, but I still have a few q's I couldn't seem to find buried in my research...
I have a Bell Desire Z, unlocked, rooted, S-OFF. I installed ClockWork & flashed the recovery partition and did a nandroid backup of my stock Bell partition. I then did a wipe / install of the non-sense G2 ROM Paul put out and have been using it (and enjoying it) quite a bit.
I think I'd like to try a Cyanogen ROM now, is it really just as simple as flashing the RC3 (doing a complete wipe, obviously) and then I'm good to go? I can then just restore apps/settings with Titanium...
If I want to revert back to my original Bell ROM, do I just restore that ROM from the nandroid backup I made as soon as I installed ClockWork?
If I'm on Pauls G2 Rom (or Cyanogen's ROM), and I do a 'factory wipe', that just resets the factory settings of that particular ROM right? It wouldn't take me back to the stock Bell ROM would it? (very sorry if this seems noobish)
Thanks folks.
Anyone?

Yes, you can wipe and flash Cyanogen. Yes, you can restore apps with Titanium. However, I don't yet understand how this works with "system"-type apps. e.g. what if you are using a different SMS app in Cyanogen to the stock ROM, can you restore your messages ? Of course if you are restoring an app that you installed on your stock ROM, to the Cyanogen ROM then Titanium should do it fine.

Yes, it just takes you back to the factory settings for that ROM that you're currently on. It won't take you back to the original ROM that came with your phone if you've switched to something else.
thank-you very much steviewevie I was hoping you'd respond! I appreciate it. It was the vote of confidence I needed to proceed.

You're welcome. I was pretty confused by what Titanium did at first, until I actually came to use it (along with a Nandroid backup) to do a backup of all my stuff and restore (using Nandroid) after I'd temporarily reverted to an earlier ROM.
I need to revert back to the stock Bell Desire Z ROM as well but didn't make a backup.

sorry guys, i got it to work again, now i dont have the android market on my phone anymore, anyway to fix this??
You're in the themes/apps section, so you won't get a whole lot of exposure for your concern. CWM 3.0.0.5 is for Gingerbread, if you are going to stock you'll need to revert to CWM 2.x.
Are you reverting to a nandroid of the stock ROM or are you downloading a fresh version? Is the Market the ONLY Google app that is not working? What about gmail or gtalk?

You need to Fastboot flash the old recovery. The new recovery only works with 2.3 roms not 2.2 roms

use 3.0.0.6, from the development section, you can flash 2.2 and 2.3 roms.
You can find the google app to by instaling gapps which you will find on cyangenmod listed with the link to cm7, just flash it no wipes just drop it in and then when you reboot itll offer the option to setup market, do to some proprietary information rules or laws or whatever cm7 doesnt include it in the rom

[Q] Revert Hero to Stock 2.1 Rom from SalsaSense RC3 problem

Hi guys, I didn't want to post in the development thread, not to pollute it
So here is my situation, i currently have SalsaSense RC3 with Clockworkmod recovery. I tried to revert to stock rom RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_3.32.405.1_R_Radio_63.18.55.06P_6.35.15.11_release_signed
using the RUU process with the phone conected to the PC. When i try to do the procedure i says to get the right RUU for my phone. I have the GSM hero.
Any suggestions?
EDIT: Could i need a goldcard, cause my phone wasn't branded
Google Shipped ROM, can't remember the exact URL. And then just flash that in recovery.

Thanks JieeHD, actually I used a RUU from shipped roms, and it came up with error 155. BTW the Rom is awesome, and I plan to return to it. Keep up the good work
For any one else who has problems with error 155 when flashing a stock rom this is what i did
Create GoldCard (GoldCard Tool)
Extract rom from RUU
Rename rom.zip -> HEROIMG.zip (careful NOT to rename it to HEROIMG.zip.zip)
Flash through recovery (Reboot the phone while pressing Volume Down + Power On)
Enjoy
Thank you very much JieeHD for the beautiful Salsa port to our Hero, except for some lags it's a great ROM, can't wait for your next release

HTC Desire HD Restore Stock

Hey
I followed this method here to root, install cwm and then install custom rom. I have decided that I want to return my phone back to stock settings, how will I do this?
So far I have tried many methods online but to no avail. Each time something is wrong. Such as I cant update ota or the proximity sensor doesnt work on different roms etc but does on some.
I assume I need to turn s-on and radio-on, restore the cid to stock, restore the rom to stock, update to most recent (same as before I followed this procedure) replace the recovery image.
Is this true or am I making a mistake or misunderstanding something.
Please help
The phone is Orange Desire Hd which was previously at 2.3.3 please give me links to stock roms or procedures i need to follow
Cheers.
Tim
ps sorry if this is in wrong place
I also need to do this to return my phone as a fault has occurred with my mic. I have two orange ruu's one later than the other.
I have tried putting back to stock in the past and succeeded but wouldn't update OTA. so I'm wondering what i could have done wrong

Normally what I do is just flash the stock RUU and its done. Just download it from the HTC website and run it on your com with your phone plugged in. Did this twice. Of course if you want, you can s-off your device first as going back to stock would not s-on your device.
Refer to this thread to reverse your DHD back to stock rom unrooted.

wicked,thanks a lot
restoring my DHD
i bought my desire hd from my brother which was already rooted and is running on revolution hd 3.3 but now i want to bring it back to stock and then do it all over again myself and it seems so much of a confusion

No signal and Wi-Fi issues

Hi all,
I am in need of some help I had a Branded DHD on 3, which I unlocked for my DAD who is on Vodafone it was working for a good 3 weeks then either said no sim inserted or lost signal a simple power off and back on seemed to fix it.
However more recently it has given up all together no signal and now wi-fi issues.
The phone was rooted and running ICS The Collective rom , my Dad did not like it so I put on a sense 3.5 rom and as above was running no problem up until now can anyone advise me if indeed it does need a new radio or is there a simple fix?
I have searched long and hard for a solution but nothing if anyone could help it would be great !!:good:
Which radio do you have? Settings-About-Baseband version

Flash A new radio and see if that fixes it
Sent from my Desire HD using Swype beta for Android!
Cheers I will check the baseband and post, were is this new Radio? and also is there an easier way to flash a new radio on an already flashed DHD?
Thanks again
Radio's usually come I zip files. Just flash them like you would a new ROM (just wipe cache and Dalvik, not full wipe)

Hi the baseband I am currently on is 12.65.60.29U_26.14.04.28_M
I have tried to flash a radio with CWM but would say installation aborted? but knowing me I am a bit rusty with the DHD as now on an HTC One X.
If anyone can provide a link for flashable radios via CWM that wold be great the current rom that is installed is GingerSense4 v1.2.
Thanks again in advance:good:
You need to flash the new radio through bootloader, not cwm. You will need to plug it into your computer and follow the guide on how to flash radio somewhere in the forum
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
There are many guides to flash a radio here is one of them:

Out of curiosity I checked once I booted into HBOOT and this is what it says at the top??
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL

Does this mean its un rooted again? so I will now need to start again?
It's not un-rooted but S-ON means the security flag is ON. You need to use the AAHK to install an ENG H-Boot with S-OFF, if you want it. It's not really necessary though. The easiest way to flash a radio is through AAHK, if you have no experience of going it before. Read through the AAHK manual fully before doing it. You can't just flash radios in recovery.
It seems you already have the latest radio from the last world wide update for the DHD. I'm going to link you to a newer version, try that and tell me if it fixes your issues. If that doesn't work, I'll link you to an older version which might work. Radios work differently for everyone, depending on the frequencies used in their countries. So it's not a case of 'newer is better' for radios.
New radio (12.68.60.29_26.16.04.09_M) - http://goo.gl/V06BH
Old radio (12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19_M) - http://goo.gl/jnxBx
Just one thing, BEFORE you flash any of the above radios, just download the corresponding RIL for your 26.14.04.28 radio and flash it in recovery. Run your phone for some time and see if it makes a difference. If you're running a Sense ROM, you need to flash the corresponding RIL for a radio, not so for AOSP ROMs like CyanogenMod/AOKP. Similarly, if you flash any of the above radios, flash their corresponding RILs too (I can't find a link to the RIL for the newer radio, but you can flash one for the older radio). You can get RILs from the link below.

hi thanks very much! I booted into recovery earlier on today and it said ''Safe Mod''
I then flashed IceColdSandwich summer edition v8.2 because my phone would just sit with a black screen... and nothing still just sits on a black screen now flashed 3 roms still nothing.
I can go into recovery and boot loader but thats it and most of these procedures require the phone to be on I cant get to that stage :crying:
I have flashed many phones from HTC Hero, S2, HD2 etc I now own an HTC One X all find but this DHD is the first one I ever sim unlocked via unlockme.com (or something similar cannot remember)
So really at a loss now any suggestions anyone? :fingers-crossed:
Please help me sat down to fix this today .... I've boot this into Fastboot to find my boot into recovery is now missing so I can no way boot phone or into recovery (I think)
Can anyone give me a link etc to fix this? as most guides requires phone to be on??

What you are trying to ask is that you are unable to boot into recovery? have you lost your recovery? or you are not having an option in bootloader to go into recovery?
Have you done the superCID thing? I don't know how to do it exactly but there are guides. Search for them. I'm guessing that may be your issue.
