Is it difficult to port a i9000 rom to vibrant? The Darky's Gingerbread Rom looks really awesome!
It would be very great to have this rom ported to the vibrant.
Is there any advice or trick to do that?... Thanks!
check with jelllete or heathen at www.sxeweb.com he has ported darkys rom before

From what I've been told, you can use this ROM on your Vibrant, but don't expect the GPS to work at all.
I am also wondering this as well. I think, I would prefer to see this porting more than the oficial 2.2.
May be we need to bring this up in Dark's rom thread and orginize a donation from vibrant owners. I really feel like we should be able to get the same roms and mods like other sgs variants.

umm i have been running darkyys on my phone for quiet a while and it works
It's froyo w/ a ginger look. I think you should update the title so people don't get confused
Eugene's new kernel allows you to run i9000 ROMs, although I think Darky's ROMs already worked for the Vibrant, just with some bugs. What's the point of using it really, I mean, all the ROMs in their section are not that much different then what we currently have.

I've been meaming to install a Froyo based ROM for a while now. Since JPL came out yesterday, I've been thinking about flashing it. But I've heard a lot of nice things about the custom JPF ROMs.
I guess the real question is: Is there anything really useful of the new JPL ROM that makes it so much better over JPF? Because obviously between JPF and Krillios or Lesty's JPF there is really no contest.

Try a custom rom. JPL has not many differences from JPF!
Try it Kyrillos' ROM v2.3! Stable and fast.
Oh, and nice.
I use his ROMs a few weeks and I haven't got a problem.
I like it very much.

LOl, thanks Kyrillos. Any idea when you'd be done with 3.0? I might wait until then if it's a viable wait

v3.0 Its gonna take 1-2 weeks.
Hey Kyrillos, I finally have froyo on my galaxy 3, and I can't express how happy iam with the Rom you made for us.
I am using v2.3 and this was very easy to install for a newbie like me.
However I wanted to ask you one question what exactly does the "Select_this_in_CSC" do, I got the desktop after loading PDA after JPF
then why we needed CSC,
please don't get angry with newbie question, this is first time I fingered my android.
Many thanks.

Just to ask you, did yu try JPL....??
today installed JPL and doesn't seem any problem with this firmware I'm not using GPS so cant say if there are any improvements
kyrillos roms are very nice... but the indroid rom seems to be nice to...
I used Lestatious v1.2 and works very good for me!
Kyrillos Rom is simply the best one it is super fast and smooth

Why don't you just flash each of those? It'll give you some much needed experience...
You don't need to setup the whole stuff you're about to use later. Just flash and play(tm)
happy flashing
I see that similar stuff is already posted in dev but maybe posting it here can speed up update
I have a problem with seach in Kyrillos 2.3
Long press on left do not open Search and from menu I get Search where I can not write anything. I was thinking that JPF search should still be there?
I have chosen Kyrillos ROM 3.0 beta. Not tried Lestatious, but tried Indroid 2.0. Indroid isn't for me so "polished" yet as Kyrillos ROM. And Kyrillos ROM is fast. very fast.
I tried Kyrillos' ROM v2.3 and i am very satisfied, i use this ROM from 2 days and is very very fast than JPF, my previous firmware on phone. In this weekend i will flash 3.0 Final version!
mmmm ... I am waiting for Kryillos 3 final version
guys any custom rom which has been made using current samsung 2.2 release
I'm waiting kyrillos 3.0 final release to flash my first custom rom, but I have a question (or a suggestion) for the developer. Is it possibile to add in 3.0 rom a feature to eliminate the rings or vibrations when the charge is complete?
thanks and good job, lots of people I'm talking with are very excited for your roms!
I am using Kyrillos 2.0 and its very stable, fast and cool. Just waiting for 3.0... maybe this week.
JPL..inDroid!!
yesterday, i flashed JPL firmware and i liked it better than any other past firmwares....yeah, better than JPF...
My Quadrant Results are :514... i know hard to believe but fact~~
Of course, u got bread with jam in ya plate.!!
Hi, is there such a ROM for wildfire?
thanks
CM7.

There's a little white box I like to use. It's called search.
Guys, comon...i just asked a simple question, i looked at all the awailable roms from the thread that has them all in one place but it's no longer supported, sorry but i couldn't find what o was looking for
And as for cm7, i find it so difficicult to understand what's working and what's not, it doesn't have a list of non working things in it's thread
Just please link me to the best 2.2 aosp rom with a camera and i'm good
Also if cm7 is fully operational, of course i'll try it
It's not for my phone, it's for a girl so things have to work without a hitch
Thanks for your understanding

Read my keyboard: CM7
Openfire might be what you are looking for. It's a 2.2 ROM, so in my opinion not as good as Cyanogen which is 2.3 but it is clean and fast. If you haven't already, try CyanogenMod. Latest nightly build is 2.3.4, very fast and a good ASOP ROM.

Nope, not unless anyone ported them over/upgraded them. Simply Honey 3.9 is a JVP based gingerbread rom, so the framework and app bases are different than froyo. Flashing a stock KB5 froyo theme over a gingerbread rom will guarantee you a trip to Odin.
Check out the themes section though, I'm sure there are a few themes compatible with simply honey that you might like.
Happy Hunting!
How about using metamorph is it possible? if not than thanx for the info I guest I'll wait to see if anyone will port a theme for it.
I was just wondering why there are no custom froyo roms, even know GB is coming out some time this month or next, but all gb roms that are out are betas.
I would like to see something stable from you awesome devs !
I have been using the Gingerbread ROM by KennethPenn and recently switched to Ninja.. Both have been extremely stable (Kenneth's one is a basically stock build with added speed hacks that he can't test, hence the beta) with minor bugs. I say keep developing for Gingerbread

+1 agreed.
What I've got running now is far smoother than anything Froyo.
ORFR234, deodexed, zipaligned, SD card hack, multi-touch enhancements, OC kernel with voltage profiles, etc, etc.
Haven't played with any ROMs because I honestly don't like themes. It's easy as heck to do as well. Just read all the guides and you can't go wrong
The reason that there aren't any Froyo roms being developed is that the Bootloader isn't unlockable with Froyo on it. You'd need to upgrade to Gingerbread to unlock the bootloader, so there's no real sense in trying to make a new rom for an outdated version of the operating system.
and If you go back to froyo with unlocked bootloader,You have a hard brick.
I am using cherryblur 1.3 with stock theme,so far I find it far better than froyo stock.
Its heating problem is solved and battery is pretty good for me.
only thing I am looking for is processor undervolting and profiles which will work with overclocked kernel .

Huh? Im unlocked with froyo. And I think froyo isn't going to be developed.for. because that would be like developing for windows 98 at this point.

Not true. Going back to froyo using sbf files *may* hard brick your phone. You can flash to froyo with fruit cake files with very little risk.

They are stable roms.
Close the thread.
Sorry for posting this, I've used the search function but I can't really find any current threads about this. My friend has this phone and its been really glitchy and it's been really bothering me. I want to put a custom rom on her phone, but I have no experience with any of the htc hero roms. Which one out there is the quickest but still relatively stable? She's got the sprint cdma htc hero. Since she is not too great with learning new things, a sense rom would probably be best, but she could probably get used to aosp too. Thanks for your input.
-_- i'd suggest cm7 imo, using the latest nightly #202 and jaybobs kernel v10
or kush's rom look in the developement thread.
Kush rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092332
jaybobs rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090234
cm7 nightly http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959080
Hi,
Ur best bet for a sense ROM would be liquid sense with a few tweaks like jaybobs kernel and Juwes optimization tweak and all that can be found towards the end of the forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=856099
But if u want a newer non sense stable ROM .... I'd recommend Hero Deck. All the kinks are gone from the start.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092332
Just make sure to make a lot of time to read the threads to fix any issues that u have.
A decent more commercial ROM is:
Cyanogen.com

I'd recommend CM6. Runs really fast and is really stable. Other than that, or if you're looking for a Gingerbread based build, go for Deck/aosp.
I'd go jay bobs. Just updated today and its wicked
