NAND EVO Build Why Not? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Okay I have asked this question in the Android Q & A but no one answered, so I am going to try here.
How come no one is making a NAND Rom based on the EVO? I would have thought that the EVO is very close to specs as the HD2 as well as the desire that everyone talks about. So can anyone say why there is no build?
Motoman you can chime in here too since It seems your the only one that did make one for the SD version.

The HD2 is a lot more like the desire hardware-wise than the Evo. The Evo is CDMA and has all that WiMax stuff going on, and doesn't really offer anything that the desire port doesn't. What are you looking to gain from an Evo port? A bunch of 4G settings you can't use? Sprint crapware? I can't really see any pros.

Some people say the evo runs smoother, at least on sd build

it all depends on the kernel you're using, I've run an Evo ROM from SD and didn't notice it any smoother or faster than a desire port, both using hastarin kernel.

Actually thats part of the reason, I used the SD version and it did seem to run a bit smoother and transitioning between menus or section felt less laggy, not saying that the dft nand rom is slugish, but feels different. And while on the topic, what is the real advantage between the desire and the desire hd? I see that as a topic as well and reading that the desire hd would run slower, whats its major difference or gain of the HD?
And no not trying to get get all the 4g stuff since obviously that wont work on ATT, but when the android was running from SD I tried many but always found myself going back to motomans carbon evo remix.

Htc hd2 vs samsung vibrant

So I've been using my hd2 for about 2 months now and I hate windows so I've been trying out all the android builds which I love. I'm currently using darkstone froyostone w/o sense and before this I was running his other build froyohd2..and since I'm running chuckydroidrom I don't even see windows anymore. But today I went into tmobile and I saw the vibrant and its absolutely beautiul.. very fast and android is native. So I need some input.. what do you guys think? Any pros and cons for both phones any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!!

I have both and constantly find myself switching up.i like the vibrant for the screen clarity but the I like the hd2 for the screen size but I think once android is completely stable for the hd2 and is able to be flashed on nand it will be my daily phone and I'll probably wind up selling the vibrant.so I say keep the hd2 and wait just a little longer for a good android build

I had my HD2 for about two weeks. I tried a few android builds, and they mostly worked, but there were little quirks about them that bugged me. One didnt have bluetooth, one only seemed to work with a specific radio, etc...
I really liked the big screen of the HD2, and the metal back made it feel really sturdy, but I native android beat out that.
I like my vibrant. The back feels a little slick, but its also lighter. While the screen on the HD2 was bigger, I dont miss it much.
I'm sure as time goes on android for the HD2 will get better, so it's really a matter of if you want to wait or not.
Damn idk ill prolly just wait it out and see how far android could go on my hd2

Try the new FroyoStone Android build with Sense, it's amazing and the most stable build as of yet. I use it as my dailey OS and it works great =D
yeah im running froyostone with sense but using launcherpro with beautiful widgets.. its running great except for the fact that u cant touch on the screen freezes and i get ocassional dark blank screens
Wait it out with the HD2.
If you really want to abandon the HD2, rumors speculate an HTC Android phone equipped with a dual-core processor heading to T-Mobile in Q4. If anything, wait for that, rather than getting the Galaxy S [now].

I don't get those with my setup. I think launcherpro is what's causing the current issues in the Android builds.
hmm ill try running sense then and wait it out till q4 thx for the update

If you want more behind-the-scenes-type info (rumor or not) specifically for T-Mobile, check out TmoNews. The leaked roadmap for T-Mobile devices for the rest of the year is somewhere there.

It is a nice phone i just dont like samsung software...also the camera does not have flash...and as we all know the screen is bigger on the hd2...but the hummingbird processor that samsung has is quick then the hd2's snapdragon...it all depends on what you like. Also you have to give the devs a little more time with android on hd 2...they are almost there the hd2 will be worth it in the long run until somwthing much better will come out in a couple of months...

Goodbye iPhone 3GS...HELLO SHEXY HTC HD2!

Getting rid of the old ball & chains, the iPhone 3GS (psh!), my sister passed her old phone on to me, a Stock HTC HD2.
So I was wondering what the gurus suggest to do first. I was thinking Android software should be a good start. But I'd like to figure out how to unlock the Leo first. Where do I start? Newbish, I know...but I hope to be a big contributor to the community one day.
Sticky threads, worth it!

desire hd or gingerbread heellppp

Hi guys need some help I really cart choose between desire be or gingerbread builds I was wondering if someone could tell me a few advantages about either of them to sway me to one or the other is they much difference apart from sense what has gingerbread got over desire hd things like that any info would be a help lol thanks
Why don't you just try both?
Sent from my JawsMIUI HD2 using XDA App
That's the problem I have lol that's why I looking for someone to sway me to one lol with reasons ha ha ha
Well go for what you prefer. Afterall, it's YOUR phone. ;-)
i need answer to thesame question to..
You know in all this time you could have just tried them both.
OMG REALLY?! I never knew that!
So I spent all this time waiting for an answer where I could have just tried them out? REALLY?! OMG!
No harsh feelings. Reasons being I believe no one can tell you what you will like or not, for we are not you.
The only reason that anyone will go for the ddesire hd build is sense 2. If you feel that you simply cannot go without sense, by all means, desire hd. Just so to note that sense is also sense.com experience and all those.
gingerbread is nice, I am using it now, and seriously, not missing much of sense.
Also, stock GB will probably gives you more space compared to Desire HD as Desire HD build comes with sense, and that takes up space.
But end of the day, try both and decide for yourself as both build is rather mature till date.
If it was 2 months ago, I will suggest to go with a Desire HD as there were still a few things that are missing from the GB port.
i personally love the stock builds and dislike the sense ones but its all depends on what you want ... just make a list of good things and bad things which ever has the most good things wins ???
Hi guys thanks for comments trouble is I have tried them both and carnt decide so I was wondering what advantages one has over other so I can say yea that's for me lol must say at moment only thing I miss in gingerbread is the desire hd camera

[Q] Coming from Samsung Vibrant...Media Hub question

Hello. I have recently acquired an HD2 that I am currently dual booting with WM6.5 and AmericanAndroid from my SD, and I absolutely love it. The question I have is this...I also have a Samsung Vibrant that I also like very well, with the Samsung Media Hub app installed on it. I have several movies that I have purchased for that app, and was wondering if it would be possible for me to install that apk onto my HD2 Android ROM. Just wondering if anyone has tried it or if there are any obvious complications I should avoid. Thanks in advance for any input.

Speed
Can you guys tell me how is the speed on the Hd2 running android compared to the vibrant? I'm planning on buying an hd2 and use android on it until wp7 gets better (in terms of features), but I'm concerned that it will be a lot slower than native android devices. I know that the vibrant uses a different soc, but if the hd2 is just a tiny bit slower or something like that, then I feel I should go for it.
Sorry for offtopic.
I can only say from my limited experience with my hd2, but lots of experience with my vibrant. The 2.3.2 rom is butter smooth and have had very few problems. As far as speed, it is at least equal to my Vibrant, if not a bit snappier. I am only going by feel as I do not put too much stock in quadrant scores. In my opinion being able to dual boot winmo also, makes this superior, at least until they end up with a stable 2.3 port to the Vibrant.
Hope this helped.

I think quadrant is useless anyway.Thank you very much for your answer!

I had a vibrant and a hd2 and i sold the vibrant last month. For me, android on hd2 is near perfect. I bet the HTC guy that decided to put Win 6.5 on the hd2 was drunk at that time.

Hey, thanks for the effort. No big deal. So far that's the only drawback i've found to this setup, if you could call it that. I'm really loving this phone. I don't see my Vibrant getting too much use in the future except for flashing new builds just to see how they are.

Best myTouch 4g Rom

What's the best mytouch 4g rom right now? Ive tried all the obvious ones; iced, cyanogen, muiu, hd sense. Just wondered if there was something else out there, something better, or different. Getting a little bored with the obvious, like to test new things.
Any thoughts?

think your only option would be to wait until the devs get honeycomb or liquid metal going for our phone
Ice is good~~Without the sound of Camara so you can do some evil things~

I digging it too. Had to switch the font, but otherwise, TB is hella responsive. We'll see how the battery life is after a full drain and recharge.
IMO Its all about preference. You gotta ask yourself if y like stock android or sense (among other overlays)
Personally. I havent experienced a rom smoother than Ice Glacier yet. I was surprised since CM7 was less than half the size but smoothness was way behind Ice. IMO Sense roms are more optimized for our chipsets since thats what HTC works on most so im Sense all the way
It really is all personal preference. Especially with a phone like this with so many options the differences in performance are going to be nominal. I personally love CM so that's what I am running. There are people that love sense and there are ROMs out there for that. A better thread for you would have been things you are looking for and we could suggest the best ROM suited for your needs.
is it me or has rom production almost come to a halt. i mean with GB ready to go whats the deal? or are all the devs working on HC and done with GB

Well as you know Sense based rom specially IG is not actually full rom as it just modified and comparing to current CM7(AOSP2.3.X:GB) its 1/3rd of the port size. But as IG heavily depends on Sense based framework it will be little smoother but you can make CM7 smooth also IDK what people talking about it lags as if I even run at 368mhz(max)/245(min)/ondemand (gov) I get NO lag.

Last I heard the CM updater for Rom Manager Premium wasnt updating for some reason but it could be fixed by now. That was yesterday. Unfortunatly I only have the free version and it only allows for DL of CM7 RC1 so i cant confirm if the other is working again.
Lol that's what he was talking about? How hard is it to grab the current build from CM repository, it takes just 1 sec. I have cURL.d setup on my server it grabs it automatically within 1min as I set the eCrawler auto updated every min.

Really depends on how you want to style your phone. Do you like Sense? Do you want a vanilla flavored rom?

+1 / with carlos2384 ... Jaywan's Nexus S is hands down my favorite ROM so far on this device. Jaywan - udaman! I'm pumped about v2.2 for Nexus S !!
...I did just flash the new Liquid Metal port (RoyalLiquid) and it's quiiiiiite interesting and unique....since it appears it's froyo based, I'm not sure it's gonna steal my heart long term from the Nexus S ROM but at least for now, it's REALLY nice to have options!! (especially when they're as cool as this)
Thanks again Jaywan, Royalknight6190, and TeamRoyal !
I am currently trying ThunderBolt. I like it. I came from Iced which was giving me all sorts of funny business.
