Goodbye iPhone 3GS...HELLO SHEXY HTC HD2! - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Getting rid of the old ball & chains, the iPhone 3GS (psh!), my sister passed her old phone on to me, a Stock HTC HD2.
So I was wondering what the gurus suggest to do first. I was thinking Android software should be a good start. But I'd like to figure out how to unlock the Leo first. Where do I start? Newbish, I know...but I hope to be a big contributor to the community one day.

Sticky threads, worth it!

Dump winmo, flash magldr, then flash cwm. After that have a field day picking from evo roms, my touch roms, etc. heck you could swap and have a new one every day

Hadn't realized there were any evo roms, only desire and desire hd. Although I would love some evo roms, those always worked best for me on the sd card

Htc hd2 vs samsung vibrant

So I've been using my hd2 for about 2 months now and I hate windows so I've been trying out all the android builds which I love. I'm currently using darkstone froyostone w/o sense and before this I was running his other build froyohd2..and since I'm running chuckydroidrom I don't even see windows anymore. But today I went into tmobile and I saw the vibrant and its absolutely beautiul.. very fast and android is native. So I need some input.. what do you guys think? Any pros and cons for both phones any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!!

I have both and constantly find myself switching up.i like the vibrant for the screen clarity but the I like the hd2 for the screen size but I think once android is completely stable for the hd2 and is able to be flashed on nand it will be my daily phone and I'll probably wind up selling the vibrant.so I say keep the hd2 and wait just a little longer for a good android build

I had my HD2 for about two weeks. I tried a few android builds, and they mostly worked, but there were little quirks about them that bugged me. One didnt have bluetooth, one only seemed to work with a specific radio, etc...
I really liked the big screen of the HD2, and the metal back made it feel really sturdy, but I native android beat out that.
I like my vibrant. The back feels a little slick, but its also lighter. While the screen on the HD2 was bigger, I dont miss it much.
I'm sure as time goes on android for the HD2 will get better, so it's really a matter of if you want to wait or not.
Damn idk ill prolly just wait it out and see how far android could go on my hd2

Try the new FroyoStone Android build with Sense, it's amazing and the most stable build as of yet. I use it as my dailey OS and it works great =D
yeah im running froyostone with sense but using launcherpro with beautiful widgets.. its running great except for the fact that u cant touch on the screen freezes and i get ocassional dark blank screens
Wait it out with the HD2.
If you really want to abandon the HD2, rumors speculate an HTC Android phone equipped with a dual-core processor heading to T-Mobile in Q4. If anything, wait for that, rather than getting the Galaxy S [now].

I don't get those with my setup. I think launcherpro is what's causing the current issues in the Android builds.
hmm ill try running sense then and wait it out till q4 thx for the update

If you want more behind-the-scenes-type info (rumor or not) specifically for T-Mobile, check out TmoNews. The leaked roadmap for T-Mobile devices for the rest of the year is somewhere there.

It is a nice phone i just dont like samsung software...also the camera does not have flash...and as we all know the screen is bigger on the hd2...but the hummingbird processor that samsung has is quick then the hd2's snapdragon...it all depends on what you like. Also you have to give the devs a little more time with android on hd 2...they are almost there the hd2 will be worth it in the long run until somwthing much better will come out in a couple of months...

Wich is the best Android ROM for HTC HD2

Hi
I'm looking for the best Android ROM for HTC HD2?
A plain and simple ROM, much like HTC Desire.
me2 ............
Open up your phone. There should be a scavenger hunt map on how to find one. N when u find it. Make sure u throw your phone against the wall cuz it'll make it run faster.
the best rom is the one that will serve your needs better.
but you'll only know which is the one after your try some.
lucky you, there are lots of android ports here, ready to be downloaded for free.
by the way, very smart question. you're the first one to post it here, nobody never thought of it, so the search button would be useless for you anyway.
yeah me too,
and while I'm here, which is the best Winmo ROM, oh and should I sell my HD2 to buy a lawnmower? if so which lawnmower should I buy....
finally, and I'm sorry if this is in the WRONG SECTION, but which flavour ice cream should I have for dessert? sorry if you think my questions are a WASTE OF TIME.

At the moment im using.. The New Nexus One Android 2,2 Build.. and the Hd2 Cell Evo Rom V3.1(Beta)
Check my sig for more details on the Evo Rom.
HI TRY MIRI'S ROM. ITS VERY FAST AND VERY MUCH RESPONSIVE. DOESNT GET STUCK TO MUCH. Its suitable for ur hd2. I also use it on my hd2

Well this can be easily answered roms with the latest michelparamy kernel or darkstone kernel from froyostone v2. That ones use graphics patch by darkstone wich make the rom much faster.
Hands down
Get MATT C Froyo version of Android. is the most complete, stable and updated.

Dual Boot WP7 and Android on HTC Vision?

(Yap, the green smiley face again)
Envy HD2 owners that able to run BOTH Windows Phone 7 and Android their device?
Anybody here wish that it's available for our G2/DZ too?
but technically, is it even possible?
Let's give your opinion.
Get the HD2 then
Is WP7 really nice that you want to run on a G2/DZ? Personally, I don't like the interface of WP7, but I must admit that if that were possible, I would give it a try and install. Just because I'm a curious cat. LOL.

Me too, not so interest with WP7.
But for the sake of my "geek-ness", I want ALL that, in my phone.
I have both the HD2 and the G2. I run WP7 on the HD. it is flawless. would love to try on thwe vision. however i beleive that the HD2 is the only non-wp7 that has the hardware to run it... if the vision had a stock clock spd of 1GHZ then maybe.....but it does not...no matter it can be overclocked....that is prob the nail in the coffin, plus the button layout is very important... i hope im wrong. but i do love having both..hehe....u can get a HD2' for $29.99 on contract or new line if u can find one

So why WP7 is in HD2?
eadams1975: do check on my flag again. I'm not in US dude.
and the POWER in HD2 is not as good as HTC Vision. :d
did not look at your flag..oops. i have no doubts of potential with the G2 thats why i picked one up for my new mod toy
I have a HD2 too and had installed dual boot WM/Android but I never would have installed WP7. Yerk. And definitely don't want it on my Z!

Do we need a thread about this every week because someone does not understand how to search? NO YOU CANT WP7 IS NOT OPEN SOURCE.
Isn't the only reason WP7 is sort-of on the HD2 that Microsoft/HTC themselves ported it before the other HTC WP7 phones were released ? Maybe I'm wrong but that is my assumption.
WP7 isn't going to happen on the Vision because the necessary drivers will be missing, and without source code it would be a huge job to fix this.

First, thanks for your hard time to remind people to "search before you post".
It's just a GENERAL DISCUSSION on "ENVYING the HD2 owners able to dual boot WP7 and Android".
If in some way, this thread made you feel that it's a request/demand/question, then I'm sorry.
The task would be mammoth, and there's no hardware drivers etc, and not much info on WP7, so not likely to happen. Closing, as this will likely become another flame war

HTC Sense 4 on Htc HD2 ?

I've seen a news about Htc Sense 4 .
Come it on Htc Hd2 ?
I hope ?

HTC One X kicks HD2 very deeply in the ass. Sense will never work on HD2 smoothly like on HTC One X. Go find some work, earn money and buy a good phone.

Why reopen an old thread unnecessarily in order to post a rather stupid response (buy a new phone is hardly useful to him, the first part might have been but there's no need to be a twat about it) and clutter up the forum?

i think maybe. As we can see, rightnow, with sense 3.5 tweak, HD2 work fine. And i think sense 4.0 is work as well. But the thing is we need time to make it work fast and perfect Just wait, maybe next month.

I already stated this just a few posts above, but please don't unnecessarily reopen old threads, even if you're trying to get 10 posts. Try wherever possible to use your knowledge to help people with problems they have right now, rather than ones solved months ago
Install "Go Launcher EX".
Go and search "HTC Sense 4" in market (Play Store).
Enjoy.
It's not sure yet. DEVs are working on this. Hope they will pass some basic hurdle. But yes it's booting you can find ICS sense 4 in DEV section. It's not for daily use but you can flash it and see how it looks.
Helpe!

[Memories] The nostalgic thread

Do you remember the good old Sense 2.1 times?
I used it for about three days and then went onto custom ROMs. I've tried many flavors (CM, MIUI) but I always went back to Sense ROMs.
I've never really been over the good old time when Sense 2.1 was all I had...
I'm somehow missing this. I want it back. But I also love Sense 3.x...
So this is just a thread to remember the old times...
If you have any screenshot, please post it. I want to get this old feeling back.
I'm also always looking at the front of my DHD package, looking on the screen and trying to touch it...
And I know I'm not the only one!
So, let's talk about the DHD beginnings, the old software, the old times.
And for the really nostalgic guys (I'm also thinking 'bout this): look in the DHD development section. There is a sticky with many ROMs listed. Also the good old 2.1 is under them.
I hope you understand me and I'm not the only one.
Thanks for reading.

I liked the more 2D weather animations in Sense 2.x, also the scrolling wallpaper as you change screens left/right. Maybe you can run the old ROM in an emulator in future...
One thing I did not like as much was the call answer screen controlls, especially whilst the phone was in pocket. Sense 3.x got it right now.

Sense 2 was very nice, less cluttered than Sense 3.x, but Sense 4.0 should change all of that back.
