Does anybody know sone work around regarding this? Because its starting to annoy me, have you ever experienced when you are using your device, the battery warning suddenly pops up and says that you must charge already and the battery percentage suddenly changes to 3% eventhough awhile ago there is still 50% left, but when you reboot it chages back to 50%, what could be a possible culprit, this happens a few times to me a day and im tired of rebooting everytimethe warning pos up.
Any advice is appreaciated
Same experience. I posted this a while ago but no solution.

well this isnt an acutal solution but have you tried actually draining your battery down to 3% recently? By doing that you are "calibrating" the battery life sensor and maybe that will cause this issue to occur less frequently?
This happened to me once so I did that and havent had a problem since. Hopefully it works for you!
but how do you power it on if thinks the battery is critical
Somehow if ido a reboot it just goes back to normal..maybesomething is messing up with the battery sensors,i did let it drain but some how it still the same, i had read on a similar thread about a bump charge or something maybe i could try that and lets see from there
on verizon tab SCH-I800 - does the same thing ... mine seems to happen around 33% though. (i thought it was something with the 33% .. since it would drop down to 3%) ..
i think samsung should really push out an update to address some of the glitches in these tabs..
Tried the recalibration thing. Problem still exists.

thats a similar issue i get,. Yes i tried the recalibration charge also and still having the problem, i did a factory reset also and it did nothing.. Im really desperate for some fixes..
Mine jumps from 15% to 3%. Quite annoying, I assumed that it is because it is poorly calibrated and so it doesn't realise its actually critical until its 15%.
I tried calibrating it by running it until it switches off, and then fully charging. However, that didn't work.
If in reality the battery is at 15%, then its a pretty bad software bug.
Maybe deleting the battery stats solves the problem?
I think its getting worse on mine now after a full charge after i remoce the charge around 2min. It says 3% again what the heck?

Tried flashing with another rom but no help. Start to wonder if this is hardware related....

try to flash it with rotohammer rom JHA/JMC it might fix the issue. My problem with GT was battery draining too quickly but after flashing it's much better now.

This worked for me too, however I had to do it 2 or 3 times. I haven't had any problems since.
I think i sorted it out also by calibrating battery,i removed the battery stats using the root explorer, now im still observing the progress

I also have a sprint tab and it is three months old. I have not put another rom on it, only rooted it. It also has developed this battery problem recently. It will go from 53 to 3 all of the sudden.

Not too sure what's the issue but it does sound like a program consuming too much CPU or the battery calibration issue.
Two Active topics discussing the same..... Anyway, I posted in the other topic my answer.

Severe battery drain problem happening to my Galaxy 3 in recent days whatever ROM or kernel I use.
Still under warranty for 6 months +. So I given to Service Centre.
At first they just formatted and reloaded with DDJP2.
Then I argued to provide a new battery and convinced from my side that the battery is the culprit.
And wow, they convinced and promised me to give a new battery in next week as they are out of stock now.
But my doubt is...
The problem is as follows:
The cell fully charges, indicated that the battery is fully charged.
When I unplug the charger, the battery indicator comes immediately to zero from 100 within 2 minutes with minimal phone or data usage. And it automatically switches off.
If I switch it on again even without charging, it again shows 100% charge.
So the question is, Is it the damaged battery the culprit is? Or some motherboard problem or what?
I am unable to judge the problem!!!
As it is proved that the service centre people are real dumb Is it time to switching to newly announced Symbian or only Galaxy 3 sucks!!!
Had similar problem with my Nokia which made me switch to Galaxy 3 few months back
When i had that kinda problem with Nokia the battery was sort of swelled and was deformed here and there. So i was sure my battery's dead.
If your battery looks good as new then the problem is with the chip.
Same prob I m having.. U need to do sum cycles to get Ur battery wrkin fine as said by rob_gangte ..

Drain the battery completely. If it switches off by itself, try to switch on and repeat this until it is completely drained. Switch off ur mobile. Wipe battery stats in cwm. Do not switch on and charge it for atleast 2hrs. Then switch on and repeat this for few cycles
This has been happening to ur phone since u bought it or after previous flashing...
If after some recent flashing then u hav ur answer (revert back to eclair then reflash) !!!
I have LG GT540 with android 2.3.4 cyanogen and the battery is just getting drain to fast ( its new battery) .when i go to battery use i saids that android system use 99-100% of battery waht its not normal ( my friend has about 7-8% use) and she last for 1-1.5 hours with normal work ,in idle about 4 hours till battery drops dead. Phone is getting to hot , i tryed to put others 2.3.7 and its same again what sholud i do.
solution i tryed: wipe battery stats -didnt help
going from 2.3.4 to 2.3.7 -didn help
PM me to see pic cuz i am new here so i cant post outside links at the moment.
Did you wipe data when updating to 2.3.7? If not, try it (maybe also without restoring stuff from backup, if wiping+restore does not help)
yes i always wipe data/cache/dalvik cache so tahts not issue, can i format SD card is she a problem maybe?
yeah same for me i am also using a rather new battery
The battery level stays on some percentages longer than others.

This may sound stupid but works
Charge it to 100% wipe the battery stats let it drain out then recharge it to 100 let it drain out again and then carry on as normal i do this before and after each rom and clear the stats etc before releasing each softmod my battery lasts on average 2-3days thats texting and 4-7 phone calls maybe abit of radio and checking email 4-5 times

1-2 is realy extrime, try wiping data and see how long it last without anything installed. If it still 1-2, there is hardver problem.
Hot phone can be inditcator of cpu or motherboard problem. :-\

First of all swiftdroids battery is only supposed to last 1 day.. so use a differnet rom. Secondly check that ur CPU is on ondemand not performance .. cause sometimes u get the rom like that.

what worked for me
Hi
I wanted to thank for Zoe Rom on its thread, but i cant write on developer's threads yet (altough i clicked thanks button there).
Im glad i finally got rid of my memory hogging default rom and now i have a properly working phone again!
Also i wanted to reply there (to some people also complaining about battery endurance on GT540 on Zoe Rom) how i fixed my battery main problem.
Pic of current battery drain:
http://postimage.org/image/d8o8uusd7/
As you can see i am aproximatelly at 50% battery after 1day and 11h of not charging.
I had 2 problems:
1- Battery lasted aproximatelly 5 hours on standby (and i mean i wouldnt even touch the phone and the battery was gonne after that time)
2- During intense battery drain usage, the battery was reporting to have less energy than what it actually has.
1st problem solved by simply turning off the wireless after im done with using it. No idea how could that be taking away so much energy, but it was. Somewhere during the period i was using my default rom i got used to have wireless always on, and my battery on the later times was going away faster than normal (i also like to listen to music on the phone). At the time i didnt correlate the 2 things, and i just put in my head that it probably was the battery dieing on me. It wasnt! The wireless (i suppose because of the Sync function also being on) has been draining my battery like mad between charges.
2nd problem persists. As you can see on the pic, those 2 spikes down correspond 2 diferent aproximatelly 1 GB file wireless transfers with Wifi File Browser app. This transfers (PC->Phone) make the phone CPU have to unzip the two 1GB files to the SD, so they are very CPU and SD card read/write intensive (i can force this battery drops with other instense battery use like playing a 3D game for example). The thing is if during that temporarly drop on the battery level measurement, the level hits 5%, the phone will shutdown. But to be honest, this problem is minor comparing to the 1st one.
There is one other minor problem with my battery, wich is the reading being inconsistent (drops 10%, then gains 15% then drops 5% again etc), but is this a problem at all?
I read a post of a guy that had made extensive testing to his battery cycles, providing loads of graph of battery levels (cant find link) . I didnt read through all of it, but i remember the guy saying something in the end like "Dont be too paranoid with your battery levels, as they arent accurate. Instead use your phone normally and you will gain an idea of how long will it last with certain types of usage"
By the way, he also said for people to just charge their battery whenever they could/wanted as it has no negative impact on battery life. I also read a bit of a paper on lithium-ion batteries stating the same, so no more forcing full-discharges for me!
One last thing! Deleting the batterystats file is as simple as disconnecting your phone from the charger. Why? because that file serves solely the purpose of suplying the UI with info of the battery drain usage on the current battery cycle.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/google-engineer-debunks-myth-wiping-battery-stats-does-not-improve-battery-life/
And you can confirm this if you unplug your phone while looking at yout battery stats.
I hope this helps
PS: pls notice that it could have been not the wireless itself that causes the battery drain, but some service using the wireless. Finding this would require more extensive testing.

Some people says that this does not work, but it worked for me. This procedure extended m battery life from 5h to 2 days..
Update
Hello again
I just wanted to give an update on the situation since i noticed this post is linked from the Zoe Rom thread.
Two days ago i bought a new battery, an unbranded one (cost me 15€ here in Portugal). The shop had a legit LG battery for 37.50€ but i tought it wasnt worth the money. This battery has the same specs as the original, except it is 1300mAh compared to the 1500mAh of the original.
I dont have any battery related problem any more. Yesterday i woke up (100% battery), unplugged the phone, let the wireless on all morning, listened to 2-3 hours worth of tunes, browsed the web a bit, tested some messaging apps etc. Today i woke up, didnt charge during the night, and im sitting on 45% battery. Wish i had gotten a new battery sooner lol
With my old battery the phone wouldnt shutdown. It would always automatically restart. I had no ideia a malfunctioning battery could cause this.
I've have had similar problems with the battery on my GT540 with all cyanogenmods - 2.3.7, 4.0.4, 4.1.2. There were no such problems with original 2.1 I think it is the price for the newer versions, I can live with that, I don't have to buy new phone

Hi
I ve got LG GT OPTIMUS 540 android version- 2.1 and i have the same problem. If i dont use my phone batery can be dead in 5 hrs but if i use it 2-3hrs...my phone battery usage says android system eats 95%...is it norm or bad?
Hi, I'm running CM10.2 in my Defy, and the battery has some big ass drops, and then keeps working at 1% for a long time. Is it possible that I need new battd files? I've read the Battery Drops Explained Thread, but I didn't quite understand how to fix it. Can anyone help, please?
Anyone can help, please? Not even with a new battery this issue got fixed :/
I think i can help you..download xposed module and then use disable critical battery shutdown..

if this happens on ur new battery , the then below reply is from my experience which i posted to another thread...
----
Dont worry . this happens to me also.. im too bought a battery of 600rs from ebay and battery stays 1 % for a day...
For an investigation i checked the battery voltage (at 100% charge voltage will be 4.2) when it drops to 1%, its nearly 3.9 and phone will keep working till voltage reduces to 3.5... im getting 2 days minimum backup of moderate use...
now to explain why 1% , this is an answer i gt from FB group .. "dnt expect Original battery at 600rs wen its actually cost 1200rs, they are actually replica of real and the so battery circuit send false info to phone, and phone calculates percentage remaining on this "
i tried to switch some cm7 version but in all battery drop at 1% happens.... so i ignored it and my defy still rocks in daily usage after 3 years ...
hi guys , i have galaxy s7 edge for a year and 3 months now , can someone help me please ?
the thing is from 100% to 15% the battery is super fine it endure like 20 h to 1 day of use , but once he hits 15% in matter of seconds the phone turns off
any solution please ? my phone isn't rooted
Welcome to XDA,
Li batteries suck when they are very high or very low. Between 100 and 90, it will drain fast too. This is a little fast though. How long has the problem been there for? Did anything happen around the onset?
Without a timeframe of the problem, my current recommendation: Try charging it to 100% and see if the problem persists. A full charge recalibrates the battery (dont believe other weird and wonderful ways of calibrating, google has confirmed them all to be false). If that doesnt work, it could be a battery or other hardware issue. If your phone is still under warranty, then you can let the Samsung guys look at it - maybe just a battery fault.

hi thank you for the respond , i had this problem for 1 week now and sadly the phone isn't under warranty anymore :/ well i tried the 100%charge method yesterday and now i'm waiting to see what will happen once it hit 15%
Let us know how it goes. If that doesnt work, then it sounds like it would be hardware related to me.
edit - I saw that a dude booted into safe mode and it solved the phone telling wrong percentages - maybe try that?
