How are you guys liking bionix? whether it be trinity or not?

Love it. I come from a Vibrant so got really used to their work. This rom looks just like stock but runs like a banshee. The only thing you really need to know is coming from stock or any other rom make sure you clear everything to insure you don't introduce any bugs. The Trinity kernel seems rock solid, but if you need to use bluetooth don't install until it gets repaired.

I'm really liking the bionix rom. very smooth and fast. however, I'm one of those guys that thinks quadrant scores don't mean ****.

I love the Bionix NS1 ROM for the Nexus S. It's fast, very responsive and there is NO lag to report of. Paired with the Trinity Kernel, it's smokin fast. I haven't really seen much of a battery hit either, which is surprising. It's worth a shot. Go for it.

I guess ill be rolling CM7, with Trinity when CM hits the nightly stage

loving bionix... 3500 baby...and 4G

How about battery life? Any significant drop?

Battery seems the same as it did at stock. I really haven't seen a huge drop as one might expect. As for quadrant scores I too believe feel is far more important than numbers and with my current setup (Bionix w/Trinity14bv3) this no longer "feels" like a phone. It feels more like a rocket covered in melted butter shooting across teflon.

N1 running CM7 nightly #7. Keep in mind the kernel that comes with the N1 version of CM7 is more optimized than the NS version and is over clocked to 1113mHz. N1 also has no SIM card so non-wifi services.
NS running CM7 nightly #5.
Each phone benchmarked several times. Highest scores below.
Quadrant Pro:
N1: 1527
NS: 2448

Same phone setup as listed above but with Smartbench:
N1:
Productivity Index: 1197
Game Index: 1288
NS:
Productivity Index: 1238
Game Index: 3196

cm7 nightly #8 and trinity14b cm7 kernel

one more. this one is also my highest score yet, getting close to the 4000 mark

Whats the fastest ROM currently available?

I'm running fresh 2.0d right now, but it seems to be a bit laggy..which ROM will give me the best performance/stability?
Thanks guys, love these forums
Um....hmm, can't really answer that one. I've tried like all of the roms out there, though I've never really had the same experience twice. I would just nandroid backup and spend time with all of them until you find the one that works best...

True, but I'm just looking for ROMs that people recommend/use daily that work well. I'm gonna try DamageR right now, I've already tried DamageControl and Flipz, so I'm gonna try some other ones and see how it goes.

SEARCH AND READ...that's seems to be the answer to every single post being made today. It's all here in black and white. One search I recommend in all honesty is search the word:
"BENCHMARK" and read the thread started by flipzmode. It's a really good read.

I just spit coke all over the computer at school...thanks Kbizz.
RegawMOD is pretty good and the new FreshToast is also fast once it's setup right... I've tried just about every 2.1 rom available on this site and those are the ones I like the most.
I know it benchmarked the worst but as far as regular use RegawMOD 2.1 is the best and fastest running rom in my experience, that is also on the .29 kernel...
If you search for flipzmode benchmark you will see that all 2.1 rom all run about the same speed.
Other then flip/toast OC rom should run the fastest and its the only rom that will actually show a big difference in benchmarks.
Water it down like all the other "fast" roms and youll have one that is actually fast do to overclocked processor.
Its not made for everyone, and the camera isnt working yet (i have a feeling its not far away).

Hey no problem!! Bout choked myself when I first read it.. My favorite rom name to date!! Wish I could cook.....
This is hardly a scientific analysis, but I have been running DC, flipz, and Regaw's roms interchangably for the past few weeks, and today switched from Sense to the Helix launcher.
The biggest difference in UI performance came from ditching Sense...it was actually a noticeable difference in responsiveness
That being said, I don't think you'll notice a whole lot of difference between the individual ROMs with Sense, so base your choice on what programs/features each ROM has versus which is fastest...in everyday use, you won't be able to tell a difference, IMHO.
So I got DarchVanilla, and I really like it, but the market doesn't have all my apps.. Is there a fix for this yet?? I really like this one, it's very responsive and close to lag free.

+1 The reason I chose RegawMOD is because it was basically a stripped down rom. It allowed me the room to load the programs that I wanted without having to strip useless (for me) programs from the rom. Very nice, stable.
I've found that using Ic3Rom with some apps removed from it, the old OpenGL restored on it, and Launcher2 installed, it's incredibly fast. It looks like AOSP, but has the current stability and function of a HTC ROM. Give it a shot if you haven't
I've used almost all of the roms available out there I thing fresh works better, if u don't want lag you would hve to use aosp

+1 for RegawMOD being the best of the ones currently available that gives me what I want. I really like fresh 2.0d except that is was really laggy IMO too. I can't handle laggy, and RegawMOD doesn't appear to have any of that lag, and so far everything I need and want works just fine on it, including googlevoice, but I only use googlevoice for my voicemail, no idea about sending and receiving calls with it.

Q: Rooted phone. Now what?

Okay, so I rooted my phone and updated to the latest SprintLovers ROM. It's nice but, I would like a nice non-senseui ROM. Either that, or a FAST senseui ROM. I think it just slows down my phone. I purchased ADW Launcher-EX for my rooted Nook and would like to find a ROM that I could possibly use that on. The best solution would be a ROM that maybe has sense but allows it to be deselected. With most sense based ROMs, sense stays running in the background even if you use something else.
Also, I would like to try overclocking my phone. I see some of the kernels in the wiki but, how so I flash? I currently use AR recovery but, I would prefer to use Clockworks for Rom Manager (since it is required). I purchased the license for Rom Manager but, it just errors.
Also, what are other good tools to use. I purchased SetCPU and ROM Manager. Are there other tools for rooted phones that are as important as those two?
Please forgive the noob style questions. I finally decided to root my phone even though I got it the day they were released. I am trying to get a little more life out of it, while I wait for Sprint to releaser the "next best thing".
IMHO CM7 nighties is by far the best no sense rom
CM6 is a stable release but CM7 (to me) kicks azz --- check it out & enjoy
Tools... everybody has what they like best. I can say as a 2 month (or so) rooted evo owner. Trial and error is the best way to learn. After that, everything you read starts to make sense!
you can always find help in the forums if somthing goes wrong
I personally like the Azreal X 4.0 rom which is a sprint like sense rom. and the SBC kernel. Which allows for over clocking. Look at my signature and search in xda for download.
MIUI is my favorite AOSP ROM. It's got the performance of CM, without the blandness.

It requires AOSP kernels, like any AOSP ROM. The one that it comes with is pretty damn good though, I have found no reason to use any other one. It's stable, I have had ZERO reboots, and fast as hell. 1700+ quadrant scores with no overclocking.

I went to the download like and they said something about the cameras. Are they working in 1.2.4?
I'm on 1.1.28 and my camera works fine. I have never had any camera issues with any of the builds that I've tried. I have an older 003 evo though, I'm not sure about 004s.
I've tried Cm7 and 6 and to me 6 is quicker and more stable. Paired with savaged kernel v5 and you can't go wrong

I tried it. My quadrant score was only 1100 with it. I noticed that the kernel was overclocked in it but, setcpu was set to 1Ghz from my titanium backup. Maybe that's why. I didn't like the iPhone look-and-feel of it though. I went to warm twopoint and like it. I may play around with this one for a while.

Did you wipe the handset prior to flashing. I'm coming from Cyanogen(mod) CM7 nightly and eViL's Sense 3.0 is as about as smooth as you can get...
What is slow for you?
Well, everything is smooth. But i can tell its a little bit more slower than MIUI with 1.2 ghz overclocked.
Like it takes forever or longer than usual to load my Gallery. Or open up an Application..i can tell a difference...but maybe thats just mine :?

MiUi is AOSP based. It's a super lightweight UI. And you're overclocked. so it's going to be blazing fast.
I've said it before and i'm sure i'll say it again. Sense is a Sumo Wrestler in a room full of Super Models. It's a bloated OS, and that will slow things down naturally. Plus the fact that we are only running at 1.0Ghz will slow it down some more. If you've flashed everything and you have a decent amount of memory left. You are about as fast as one can get. I'm using the 3.0 Sense 1.0 and i'm pleased with it. It's not Cyanogen when it comes to speed but the smoothness has won me over. It's kinda like going from Porsche to Lincoln. the performance is lower but it make the ride alot more enjoyable.

LOL Seeing you stand up for a non-AOSP ROM is little weird. I feel like it's April Fool's or something. Anyway, to the OP, eventually a stable OC kernel will be made, but you'll lose some battery life. To me, the extra couple milliseconds to open apps is worth it. Let's face it, this is basically an Alpha port, and my goodness it's sweet already. Damn fine job they did. Other than the weird choppy application launcher, I couldn't be more pleased.

Dont forget 3.0 is meant for the 1GHz or 1.2GHz "Dual-core" phones, so it probably would be kinda slow on the MT4G, the 2nd gen dragon isn't very old though like the hummingbird.

KP's Beta #4 vs Ninja vs Red Pill

I figured since there are 3 really good ROMs out right now, but I don't have the time to really test them out, I figure I would ask the question here.
Kenneth's Beta #4
vs
Dorian's Red Pill
vs
Sam's Ninja
What are the pros and cons of each that you guys have noticed? I'm looking to jump to one, but don't have all the time in the world. I've left out CherryBlur since it's based off of 4.5.2 and I would like to use themes Nottach has created.

your asking about personal preference which can be dangerous since people want to believe they are always right lol so be wary im using ken's rom and its pretty stock to what was released is really fast nice ui and can be flashed back, all these roms run well so its all a matter of which ui appeals to you if you like the new version of motoblur then thats mostly kens if u want a gingerbread(black and green) thats ninja although im not sure if the dock is on gb yet and im not aware of what red pill looks like but to be straight forward so far the two ive run sams and kens both run great its a ui preference.
I run Cherryblur and its my favorite so far, then I say Kenns since its just a stock ATT rom which is why it has the least amount of bugs.

kenns and navalynts are also great works. but they have different goals.
once im done working on cm7 and gentop ninja will be compile from source. based off aosp.

Oh. I'm an idiot. I've been gone too long. Getting thrown into this after GB and the rush of ROMs and kernel being created is bogging down on me...I apologize to the community.
I have been using CherryBlur v0.5 with faux123's latest kernel and Mattedblues theme. Battery life seems pretty good, speed is wonderful and everything just works. I haven't tried any of the other ROM's because I have everything setup like I want it and just don't feel like setting up again. I will not run the later CherryBlur ROM's because the themes will not work with them. Right now I believe all of the ROM's should perform pretty similar since they are all based off of the same source(except for CherryBlur v1+).

DHD ROM Benchmark Test [UPDATE Sept 12]

Hi!
I did a little ROM test.
Test requirements:
dhd rom
stable rom
all important function working
release date or last new version in this year (2012)
the development or the support is not discontinued.
Test process:
full wipe
clean install, themes, mods no installed
after the 1st boot, set up the wifi and add the google account
download benchmark from the market
wait 5 mins and restart
wait 10 mins and run the test
The results see here: http://hotlinx.net/rom-benchmark
Important! This is not a professional test. Only a little help
Wow... Thanks for the effort you put in this comprehensive test. The comparative results are interesting even though somewhat expected I guess.
But from what I've read they're not really a definitive indicator of the rom's overall performance.
Is it true that with little modifications to the rom you can double the test score without extreme overclocking and without any real performance improvements?
Wow this is awesome. Thank you. Gonna try out GB MIUI again. Numbers don't lie!

I didn't change anything (widgets, options, programs cpu etc.). All rom tested in original "virgin" status.
Of course you can change many things, but that's an another test.
It's interesting. I know "feeling" isn't exactly a science but i left cyanogenmod 7.2 to go to ice cold and there was a substantial improvement in speed with ice cold sandwich. So much so that I was willing to give up cyanogenmod which i loved, had all features working perfect, and of coarse 720 camcorder.
I've definitely contemplated going back on numerous occasions so my phone doesn't feel "half baked" with the graphical glitches, camera, some message notifications not showing up, etc. But the speed just feels so good...
Oh yea but the interesting part is it showed a lot lower in the benchmark scores.

My personal experience is the numbers sometimes don't show everything.
Example: MikRunny performance is only medium, but the feeling... very smooth, no lag.. perfect. Feel as fast as a MIUI or CM.

Im a sucker for free ram though. I always preach in the Atrix forum that benchmarks dont mean anything. People hate that.

I've used both of them (before the test) and I could feel the difference. The specific numbers shocked me, but the conclusion doesn't surprise me..
Otherwise, you're right! It's the feeling that matters, not the numbers
Seems like CM 7.2 is on the top.

But I see, that the RD-Miui is one the top.
Any chance of doing existz AOSPX build in the inspire section?
Good work on the testing tho.
Good to see all non sense roms on GB average over 2000. Where all Sense roms are below.

CM 7.2 scored the highest. I meant the score and not the position

highest point: RD-MIUI (2 223)
best average: RD-MIUI (2 194)
best deviation: RCMix Energized & MIUI & CM9 (27)
RD-MIUI is GB right? I'm looking for a nice ROM for a daily driver and for heavy gaming on my DHD. ICS ROMs are out due to problems with GPU drivers.

Yes.
Edit: absolution and blackice are good roms. Rd-miui used to be my daily until I switched over to blackice. But almost all Gb roms are good.
