Not yet there have been talks of Angdroid trying to get his hands on an M2 to develop Fission for it but there aren't any ROMs specific for the M2 that I know of here.
You can find Angdroid's thread here to express your interest..

For those who want to help Angdroid (or an other dev) getting a milestone 2, i've created this form to know how much we can gather.
walter79 found a NANDROID Milestone 2 backup. He managed to flash it on the Motorola Defy But if it helps you, here's the original thread + direct links to the NANDROID. All credits go to walter79

I don't see how flashing a MS2 nandroid backup to a Defy is relevant to this thread... ?

The Question was, if there's a ROM available....and I gave links to a ROM + a link to the source. You don't need to know how I flash it to my lil defy but when I post links, I always add the source.
If you don't need it, I can delete my post...
considering the milestone 2 shares a whole lot with the original milestone, do you guys think it would be possible to just go ahead and apply a MS rom on MS2?

It doesn't share much at all. The battery and the screen maybe. Do not apply a MS rom on MS2.
Moved to general as not android development
Sorry for ressurecting an old thread, but I wanted to say thanks to Sqoerk for the link to the 2.2 Nandroid backup.
I had to downgrade from GB to Froyo, to return the phone to the previous owner, and I was able to do so using the method described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497263
I wonder if there are any 2.2.2 or 2.2.1 nandroid backups around.

Hello,
I want to install a MIUI Rom and before I do it, i have a couple questions:
1) If I do evil's MIUI Rom or the QnD I seen on his site, I just wipe the phone, nanbackup, then flash the new rom? I'm coming from Ice Glacier 1.1.6 themed with gorilla OC kernal.
A) Do I need a different kernal?
B) Do I need do setup ext4 on my sdcard?
2) Any suggestions which MIUI is the best?
Thanks for any help.
Kei
P.S. I did a search via Google, found info for other devices. I also looked at suggested threads above. I apologize of it has been asked before, I'm at work so I didn't get a chance to dive deep into search. :-(

Oops. My apologies!! Can a mod please move this correct forum. Sorry again.
when installing CM9 to your defy is it the same process for flashing CM7 or is there a slight variation or something?
Now why would you open a new thread for this question?
i realised that i could've directly asked on the actual CM9 thread, only after i'd just posted this thread, sorry.

The original thread was Dev based, about the ROM being released and how stable it is as released. This thread was noob based about how to flash said ROM and if it is different from another, very similar ROM.
Why clutter one thread when you can have two?
Anyway, to answer the question instead of of questioning the question, Yes the basic principle is the same. Once you have the System Recovery installed, it's a case of copying the CM9 zip file to your SD card and flashing the same as CM7, although the way I've personally done it is using Multiboot, so that I can normally use CM7 for "production" but can have a go and see how CM9 is progressing for a few minutes or so.
The Multiboot thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364659
Have fun.

And to get back to CM7 from CM9, you only have to flash the CM7 zip?

Reboot and press vol- when you seen blue light. You'll be taken to the bootmenu. It's stated in there version of your current bootmenu.
And yes you need to change it speaking of compatibility..

Absolutely not. You don't need to mess around with bootmenu versions and other stuff. Just read the thread i pointed to above, it works, proven by people following it with succes, and no need to change bootmenus

Hi Guys!
I just saw the latest nightly but I'm afraid to flash since kernel will be change and I might not be able to downgrade to stock 2.2.2. May I know if there is a way to flash the latest nightly but also being able to downgrade to stock 2.2.2? I'm currently using CM7 stable ROM
Thanks!
Yes you can downgrade it using your stock 2.2 sbf.

I flashed stock full sbf 2.2.2
Rooted using superoneclick
Installed scndInitvs2.0 which gave an option of installing either 0.6.5 or 1.0.7 bootmenu. So chose 1.0.7
Rebooted a couple of times.
Did factory reset , cleared cache and cleared dalvik cache in that order.
applied 12-07 CM9 zip
and rebooted
but my phone is stuck on the M logo!
Thanks! As I want to try the Dec. 7 nightly just for testing purposes. Thanks again!

Hi, I'm a noob just bought a new Defy (my first Android device)
I know this will annoy most of you here, but I have been reading this forum for past few days but couldn't come to a conclusion. So thought of posting a new thead.
I have a Defy running on Eclair and wanted to upgrade to 2.3 or to some custom ROMS, but I got too much confused reading all about Stock ROMS, CM7, CM9, MIUI and other Custom ROMS.
I just want to upgrade my phone from 2.1 and I desire a ROM which will give me Great Performance and Good Battery Life.
Can anyone here be kind enough and give me a simple explanation of what should I do.
You can post a wacky caption as well.
Thank for any help.

Thanka for your time.

Don't have time to give instructions now, but DO NOT flash a full 2.3.6 sbf/upgrade to 2.3.6! Stay on froyo. It is possible to run all custom roms with this as base, also the newest 2.3.6 gingerbread ROMs. Someone please specify for the guy^^

Okay thanks mate for that info.
Currently i'm on Eclair so i think first of all i have to upgrade to froyo then i can think of going to cm7 and othet custom roms, right?
As you all would have played with lot of custom roms, can anyone suggest me which one should i go with?
Sent from my MB525 using XDA
It's really just a matter of taste. Here are some of the main categories of custom roms:
MIUI
CM7
Modified stock roms
CM9 and CM9 based ICS roms (that's ICS, android 4 . Not stable yet, maybe never 100% without unlocked bootloader )
There are many different flavours to choose from within most of these categories, but there are already a lot of threads about this. You need to read, read, read before you start flashing custom roms. Have you read the All-in-One Defy Beginner's guide? Every defy user should read it. Every single day a noob starts a new thread about a bricked defy: "please help me, my father will kill me if he finds out about my defy", etc, etc. These questions have ben answered 1,000,000 times already, so use the search function before posting!
By the way this thread should be moved to the Q&A section. Moderator will take care of that when it's reported...
Questions go in the Q&A section
I installed a Full Gingerbread SBF, and also got rid of it following the guide here. In the same thread, I can see that installing CM7 can be done. Is it the same with CM9 and ICS, or other custom ROMs such as WIUI?
It is my only phone, so I am looking to learn from others' experience before doing it.
Thanks people!

I am a red lens Defy user, who flashed a Gingerbread SBF, and I am currently running the Fixed SBF (Froyo) from the above mentioned thread. Do you think I can go on and flash CM9, or does my SBF might mess with compatibility?
UPDATE
Turns out you can follow the instructions in the link I provided earlier and flash any Cyanogenmod ROM. I am actually sending this message from my Defy running a Quarx CM10 ROM with no problems at all. Furthermore my system is fully update-capable. I have flashed almost all nightly builds of the Quarx CM10 mod, and the whole process has been super smooth.
Hi! A friend left me his Defy so I could so I can put it on steroids as it's working really slow. It's still on Android 2.1 (Vodafone Spain) and never touched. I've read all the necessary stuff for beginners and understood everything (I'm not new to rooting and flashing, I've a fully hacked Desi), but I want to know a few things.
First of all, should I stay on 2.1 as base or is it better to upgrade to Froyo, in which case what is the preferred SBF?
As this is for a friend and I'm not gonna have access to his phone everyday I need a really stable rom. Are the latest CM roms stable enough?
And at last, I've read that some of this roms come with the kernel, what does that mean?
Thanks in advance for all the info.
1) You can upgrade to Froyo, or stay as it is(will not really affect performance) although people report Froyo to be a bit smoother
2)CM7 is very stable and fast( you may use maniacs or other builds)
3)I think you are referring to the 2ndboot ROMs which include a custom kernel. Though I personally use them, they may not be stable/fast enough for everyone
I would suggest trying cm7,9,10 and check how it works out for you

Yes, isn't that 2ndboot thing necessary to be able to boot any custom rom? So now if I would like to install a custom rom I should (update to Froyo,) root, install 2nd init and then flash the rom and recover the nandroid for that build?

Yes that's right, but what nandroid do you mean? Usually you don't have to recover nandroid. For CM7,9,10 you should just flash .zip from cwm. For ms2ginger you have to follow the instructions in op (there you have to use a nand backup)

No, there are ROMs without custom kernel as well. Cm7 and all miui builds are based on stock kernel ( all GB ROMs). JB is available in both, so is ICS, and only a couple of ROMs are nandroid backups, rest are zips. Remember to wipe data as well while flashing builds

Ok, so now I'm into work. I've already rooted and installed 2init. Nest step is to install a custom rom but I can't decide from this three: Epsylon3's CM9.1 Android 4.0.4, [email protected]'s CM10 Moto Ice Gun Edition or Quarx's CM10 Android 4.1.2. What would you recommend if looking for stability?

Sorry, as you see in the sticky in this very section, asking which is ROM is best in any category (stability, speed, whatever) is strictly against forum rules. Thanks for your cooperation.
