[Q] can i tether a droid to a gtablet ? - Networking

Hey all,
Super noob here. I'd like to use my Droid as a modem for my gtablet. The Droid is bone stock and the tab is a day old. I'm not too afraid to modify them if I have to. Thanks.

[Q] Upgrading...

Hey everyone, couple of simple questions.
So I have the droid 2 (Duh) and I want to upgrade to 2.3.20 (yes i haven't yet) and I'm pretty sure that once i upgrade I'll lose root. So do I just upgrade and reroot or is there an easier way to go about all of this?
Also, am i better off getting a rom and using that firmware instead? I haven't done a whole lot of anything with my droid recently and not too sure where to start =P
Thanks in advance.

[Q] I need help!

Hello everyone, I'm somewhat of a novice still to rooting android phones. I had the Samsung Fascinate previously, and it was a really simple process..but I had returned it for a Droid 2 R2D2 edition a week or so afterwards. Ever since then I've had the desire to root it and install a custom rom (something vanilla gingerbread or equivalent) to it, but I've been so confused about the differences between the Droid 2 R2D2 edition from the regular Droid 2 that I've been too intimidated to venture into world of it. But tomorrow I'm getting the Droid X2 probably (unless someone here would like to suggest a different phone) and I'm willing to experiment
So my question is..can someone give me a general idea of the process I need to take for my Droid 2 R2D2 from rooting to the rom I should use? Thanks guys!
Use z4 root
It is the easiest way.
It may not work first time, just reboot the phone if it doesn't and it should work the second time.
Search for the latest z4root apk on google (I don't know if its in the market)
As for roms, I have no idea if d2 roms will work with the r2d2. Check out fission rom at teamdefuse.net
Contact one of the developers and ask them

Also remember before flashing any roms, you must install the droid 2 bootstrap application (because of the locked bootloader)
This can be found on the market

[Q] Help installing Bumblebee 2.4?

Hi. I want to download a ROM of Bumblebee 2.4 onto my newly rooted Droid X, but I can't find anything on any website. The closest I came to getting it was this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053842
The trouble is, I can't understand it, because I'm new to rooting, and I don't even know if it'll work on the Droid X. Can someone help me out here?
That is not a Droid X rom.
You can find roms made for the Droid X in the Development section over on Rootzwiki.

Some questions about working on the droid x

Hello all,
So I rooted my buddies droid X and sideloaded wi-fi tether app to get his tether going but it turns on the verizon hotspot and tries to get us to subscribe. I am quickly finding out that it's not quite what I'm used to when rooting a phone. I've rooted my old hero, my gf's evo and my evo 3d all well and good. clockwork recoveries, custom roms and kernels, tethers etc. I'm a midlevel root user but on HTC phones and on sprint. Here I'm feeling like a noob (I did check the noob guide for answers but am not finding what I'm looking for same with search function).
Now that I'm rooted on this phone how do I install a recovery so I can install a custom rom? Is there a link to a tutorial? Will a custom rom have tether working the free way? I figure once I install a rooted or custom rom the tether should work the way I'm used to an not try to take me to verizon and I also am reading that there is a new OTA pushing and dont want to lose root. I've been looking on this forum for a solution and am not quite finding my answer and it seems to be because things are listed a bit different than they are on the EVO forums on XDA. I thank anyone ahead of time and am sorry for the questions.
Disregard. Finally figured out that I need the Droid 2 bootstrap rather than the droid x to get into recovery and it's all gravy now.
Check my sig if you need more help.
You can use Droid X bootstrap as long as you have USB debugging turned off.
