Hi,
I have installed NAND Android on my "Singaporean" HD2. After installing just few applications i got a message about low space and U found that the internal storage is 150MB only!!! How come?
I tried App2SD but still nothing happened since most imortant apps LOVE the internal storage.
Is it possible in anyway to install a new & larger internal storage?
Is it possible in anyway to install Android into the SD without having anything in the internal storage (Without having WinMo)?
Thanks,
Mohammad
Try one of these NAND builds:
RAFDROID HD or imilkas' HD2Z NAND
These builds will store the data.img on SDCard. If you use the same type of build (stock, desire, desire hd,cyanogen..), it is possible that your old data.img from sd build will working. If you have problems, put a new data.img on sd and restore your apps/settings with Titanium Backup or HTC/Google Sync.
So you mean these build put all my stuff in the SD?
if so then this is great!!
Thanks
Mohammad
Yes, your stuff will be in the data.img on sd, the system is in nand. Because these builds have more space in the Nand, some of them has completely deoxed all system files, so you can customize it with special icons or languages. The deoxed RAFDROID HD rom has for example battery icons with percentage counter.

It's fully DEODEXED so you can theme it as you want.
I tried also to keep most of the apps, background and other stuff in it.
But most important it uses DATA.IMG on SDCARD so you dont have to worry about storage limite on LEO512

I have found another build with this feature, a MIUI Build.
Advantages of such builds:
- easier backup of complete userdata
- theoretically unlimited userspace (see 4GB working)
- faster write speed at userdata (but slower access time)
Disadvantages:
- slower read speed and higher battery drain at userdata
- battery drain should be between a complete nand and sd
I dont have tested such a rom, I have the Nand gauner build. It has 184MB userspace at start, it is enough for me and works top after some reboot's.
I have enough space left and my big apps have the MoveToSD option, but still not applied.

I installed Cyanogen Rom v4.0.1 and successfully partition sd card with fat32/ext4/swap. Afterward, I realize there are over 300MB in the /data/.
It seems like for normal usage (not excess # of app installed), It doesn't really need to use App2SD and the internal memory should be sufficient space. That should make the phone more stable and speeder since it doesn't depend on the sdcard at all. I dont' plan to install Hero since i won't need the /swap.
What do you think?
going from using no apps to sd to using apps to sd I find that everything seems to run faster for me. Yes i tested it.
That is very interesting. I wonder why app2sd to faster? I mean the sd card IS slower than the internal flash memory.
It's not necessary for Magic/MyTouch3g. It was designed for HTC Dream which has a small amount of storage for apps, Magic does not have that problem.
im running qtek hero rom...how could i disable/remove a2sd?

The easiest way is to fastboot Amon_RA's recovery.img, there is an option in there to create and format the partitions, you just select it with the trackball.

For some reason I don't have much memory left in my internal storage.
Already moved almost every app to SD.
What do i do?
Get a TMO US 1024 HD2
What rom are you running? Many of the later builds now incorporate a2sd+ or data2ext which frees up more space. This however involves having to partition your sd card. Check the threads out that have these terms in their titles.

2.2 NAND.
What is TMO US 1024 HD2?
This is getting pretty annoying though. Moved every app to SD, can't install a game because the internal storage is low.
I found a thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908528
But what are they? Noob here, don't know anything about such things... Is it a rom? Is it as stable as Android nand 2.2? Do I need to start from scratch to install it?

2.2 NAND, but which one? There are many roms using 2.2 NAND.
There are 2 types of HD2, the standard one had 512mb memory and there is a T Mobile USA HD2 which has double ie 1024mb memory.
Yes, that rom is a 2.2 NAND rom (based on Desire HD build). Read the instructions carefully on the first post of that thread and you will have plenty of onboard memory left. You can also try the rom linked in my signature. I still have about 700mb left (I have a 1gb partition on my sd card for the data and apps) after installing a heap of apps.
You will need to start again as that rom uses a different installation method ie CWM instead of using daf.exe to flash via usb.

So I lose all my apps that are installed on the SD currently?
Apparently the internal memory on my HD2 is 119 Mb.
I'm surprised that it only has 119 mb total though. It is showing that on Titanium backup. Can't view the total internal storage size normally. Or did this happen due to that rom?
Weird stuff...

Hi,
No, its not weird. Since european HD2 has only 512MB internal memory, so if you flash a rom it takes about half of your internal storage (depend on a rom you will use). In my case I had only 150mb after flash a rom and partition layout for CWM. That is why I use app2sd+ and installed all apps to sd card's extended partition and moved dalvik cache also to sd and now I have over 160MB free and all apps installed, including some games as well. If you are low on internal storage, you should try that.

That is the very first NAND rom that was released and was more of a poc than anything else. Yes, it is probably normal after installing that rom that there is little space for apps on internal memory. Even if you use an app like App2sd, you are limited in terms of what can be moved. Try one of the more recent roms which allow you to partition your sd card and have that recognised by the rom as internal memory. That way you can have 1gb memory and no more problems. You can take a backup of your apps and restore them (apps only) after flashing the new rom.

Use Titanium Backup or My Backup Root (both available from the market). If your rom is not rooted you will need to use z4root to root the rom first.
Hello everyone,
is it possible to partition the MAIN memory (I mean the phone memory, not sd card) to fit the build I'm using perfectly? Like setting best size for boot partition, for system partition etc..., in order to have more space available for data internal partition?
I've found http://www.enfeuman.com/2011/06/01/how-to-fix-abnormal-internal-storage-space-on-htc-hd2/
but I really couldn't find an option in CMR to partition main memory.
If this is possible, can anyone tell me how? (I'd like it for my NAND ACA GB2.3.7 build)
And is it necessary to wipe the whole phone and do (flash) everything over again?

Wipe data
to set the partition sizes, try clk 1.6 and use fastboot commands to resize the partitions.
When you do this, you will have to re flash the rom.
Thanks, ill try that.

hi guys new user of HTC HD2 here (previous motorola defy user)
so I got this phone yesterday thru swapping, and this phone is awesome, but I was rather disappointed with the internal memory. Mines got 186mb of application space so I always get memory full prompts. I know there is a mod to increase the size.
I flashed paranoid android this morning and boy is it good looking
I just want to increase my internal memory and Id be happy with it
what's the maximum I can a lot to it?

OK first things first,
Are you familiar with the 'stuff' of the HD2? MAGLDR bootloader, ClockworkMod Recovery(CWM)? sd-ext partitions?
well I'm trying to learn this terms but this is gonna take a while I think,
the Previous owner has installed magdlr 1.13 and clockworkmod and I have flashed paranoid android rom this morning. So I do have a recovery
sd-ext partion not so much
**okay okay, you will need to do a lot of research about your device and using it to its full potential; too much that it can't be explained within one post **
but here is a method I found in xda of performing a sd-ext partition within cwm:
> GO to advance and then partition SD card
> Remember this will wipe the sd card so back everything up if need be
> Choose how much space you want, 1024mb is recommended, on the partition then then choose 0MB for swap
>PLEASE NOTE PARTITIONING WILL WIPE THE SD CARD!
>and hey presto your done
> from here you can install link2sd and your set to go. -note, you will need to read about link2sd before use. just search it
There are many benifits of this using EXT-Partition such as you apps will automatically transfer to your partition meaning you will free space on your internal storage!
apologies if there's any misinformation there, quite tired :$
Sent from space..
ah I see, so basically the sd card will be detected as and internal card and I won't face memory full errors whenever uninstalling?
but I can just use link2sd app to transfer apps to sd card manually right?
I was wondering why I only have 186mb of internal memory wherein in GSM arena it says at least 512mb.
what I want to do is a phone modification to increase it, just in case the sd card was corrupted, I still have my apps on the phone memory
thanks for the reply though, if you can add something feel free :victory:

It says 186Mb because when you flash CWM, you also partition your NAND to run Android. Essentially, the storage you get is 512Mb-CWM partition size, although normally it's lower as there are probably things other than this installed to the NAND.
Thank you

Well it depends on the partition size you're currently using. If it's already the minimum for your ROM then no you can't increase the storage by repartitioning the NAND, but if it's any more than the minimum then you can increase this, by reflashing recovery with the correct size. Make a full backup in CWM first though.
so I reflashed 150MB recovery partition and flashed AOKP build by xylograph
now I have 217MB of internal memory
what should I flash so I can have more space?
the less is your recovery partition - more internal memory you get. Minimal recovery partition can be about 100 mb for some light roms I belive. So you can get 50 more mb than you hav now.
You've mentioned 300mb earlier, even if you get your desired 300mb it's gonna get filled up very soon.
I would advise you as was mentioned above to borrow 1gb from your sd card for sd-ext partition. Most of the roms support from the box (without intsalling any additional apps or scripts) sd-ext partition and install apps by default on that partiotion, Paranoid Android does, for instance, actually 80% of the roms do as well...
I don't know if it means anything, but you could look into a US HD2. Its got 1024 mb internal memory! That's double!
ok maybe ill experiment with this sd-ext partition
never had to deal with tgis when I was on defy
try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661892
I installed AOKP in NAND & had only a few 100mb's available, I just used Link2SD & moved most apps/ games to SD. SD has no ext. part. yet. will do it latter when i get a 32gig card, now just testing a 4gig SD
Like everyone here, I have the famous HTC Leo. A friend installed Android on NAND, the 2.3.4 with the mod-HyperDroid CM7-v2.1.0.
This is a great device, but the more I use it, the more I have less internal memory.
At first, I installed a lot of applications, I was full of things and I ended up filling the internal memory. I moved the more applications possible on the SD card, but the internal memory ended up being full. So I uninstalled applications not too useful, and applications more useful, clean caches, remove data, but it is still too small. My system tells me that I only have 217.3 Mb total internal memory and while I hardly more than application system installed, I only have 21.3 MB available. Now, I know that this model has double.
I do not understand: what is this devilry? Where is my memory? How can I resume normal operation until all the memory is gone and my phone becomes unusable?
I can't be the only one to whom it happens, right?
only the data partition counts as internal memory, the rest is taken by the system, boot and recovery partitions, so your200+ sounds about right.
read up on creating an ext partition on your sd card, and either flash a rom that supports it already, or add a script to your current rom, , then, instead of using the data partition on the nand the system will use the sd-ext partition as if it were nand. (This is NOT the same as choosing 'move to sd' in the apps config screens, that moves it to the fat partition, and some apps wont work from there, , , all apps will work from the ext partition, and faster than the fat partition.)
There are two sets of scripts, some move the whole data partition to ext, meaning of course you are not using the 200+ mb on the nand, so for me i prefer the scripts that move only the apps to the ext partition, and keeps your actual data (txts, contacts, stuff like that) on the regular nand data partition, thus spreading the useage.
look out for keywords like 'app2sd+' 'data2ext' 'dataonext', , stuff like that when you're searching.

So, I don't really need to use this. I just can install a new ROM on my NAND after making extending place on my SD for the 'dataonext', can't I?
I have to choose a dataonext ROM (with french version) and make new partition on my CD card. I'm saving all the SD card data's just now (with luckyBackup, because I'm on ubuntu PC).
My problem is find a good ROM for my needs. So, I have HSPL 2.0.8 and MAGLDR. How can I find the rom radio number? I need this information to choose the good ROM. Any advices about good ROM for my needs?
r no need to change the radio,,, if magldr works then the radio is fine.

I bought a new 16 GB SD card to try the method of post 1843062. I am trying to format as it should, and tonight or tomorrow, I'm trying to see if I can install the script without too much risk, I am not a very experienced user of ROM for HD2 and, in addition, as I'm 100% Linux Ubuntu, I saw that many procedures are more complicated or impossible to run from a Linux desktop.
Thank you for all your help and I'll let you know.
I need to understand.
I have a EU HD2 with HyperDroid CM7 installed on it.
Like many people here, my memory became too small over time. So I look for a solution and I was guided to this thread. While speaking, I read everything I could understand (and frankly there really is too much to read and understand, here ) and I ended up deciding to adopt the solution Kokotas.
So I bought a new SD card (16GB class 10 Duracell - I know, Duracell is a brand of batteries ...) and I formatted properly Gparted as shown, with one primary partition of 12 GB fat32 I named /données (French for datas) and a second primary partition 4 GB Ext4 I named /data.
Then I primed to install the script Kokotas (but I have not yet done so, this is the trick!) And there: surprise!
I suddenly 4 times more free memory internally (from 20 MB to 80 MB), but it is still the same overall size!
I wonder how it is done, because it's been months that I want to release the NAND memory, I deleted almost all my applications downloaded without great effect and there, before installing the solution Kokotas, hop, I have the place!
I run Nautilus on my HD2 connected via USB and what do I see? in the partition /data in ext4, records were Cres /app /app-private and /dalvik-cache.
What does that mean? My ROM can do one DATAtoEXT 2011 alone, when she sees a partition SD / data?
Do I install the script Kokotas or it is not worth it?
Do I flash a new ROM (I thought MIUI-MIX_3.3.1, but I'm not sure it's a good idea) without risk, in short I need to understand what happens with my phone.
Thank you.
(Sorry for my english : this is the fault of Google translation )
You might also consider just running an SD build instead of NAND. You can get a 2GB "internal storage" system.img and you don't risk getting bad blocks on nand by constantly flashing things. In my use of both I didn't really see any great speed increase or advantage in using NAND other than boot-up time is a bit less, but does that really matter?
Just another thought on this.
