In my attempt to run Android I think I accidentally bricked my phone/
Couple weeks ago I installed HSPL3 in my phone, after this I installed Chucky GTX ROM and also I installed Radio 2.12 then I installed HTC Sense Desire Build but Android wasnt running fine at all.
Ok last week unistall Chucky ROM and installed Energy.Leo.COM2.Barebones WM Build.For.Android, I changed the the radio to 2.15 and I installed MCCM SE V3.4 FroyoStone Sense which it ran great and did not had any problem with it. But about two days ago I would try to unlock the screen but the screen would not respond at all so, I thought it w9s just android so I turned the phone off and boot into windows but the touch screen was unresponsive also. Usually it would come back to normal where the phone would work just fine but today it did it and the phone completely stopped working.
I thought if I change the ROM it would fix it, so I change the ROM and Radio but with no success, in my desperation trying to fix it I googled the problem and I read that if I execute Task 29 that might would fix it, so I did but it only stays on the boot screen (it has ENERGY Boot loader) and it does not show at the bottom Radio, ROM or anything that it usually shows.
The last thing that I did was try to hard reset it but it did not work, I really would like someone to help me with this if there is anything I can do to fix my phone, please, please I would really appreciate it. Thanks before hand
...your phone isn't bricked. Task 29 erases your ROM from your phone. I wish people would stop recommending Task 29 because people who don't read don't understand what it does. Anyways, you need to load another ROM onto your phone now and see if the screen works...more than likely, it won't. This is a known problem with the HD2 running Android from the SD card and we are still not quite sure of the cause or of a fix other than sending the phone back to HTC for repair, which costs around 125USD if your device is not under warranty.

Here is the ittle issue I have I plug my phone to my computer (the phone is off) and when I try to turn it on the phone does not cuts on at all. I took the battery off the phone and turn it on and it actually cuts on, then I plug it to my computer but the light on the phone is not on. Is there anything you could recommend me to do. Thanks again.

What do you mean by "cuts in?" If you tasked 29 your phone you gotta hold down the volume down toggle and at the same time turn you phone on to access your bootloader. Then plug it into the computer and it'll say usb, blah, blah, blash, and flash a rom.

Hello.
First post here and hoping someone out there has a solution for my issue.
My HD2 gets stuck on the "quietly brilliant" screen every time I try to boot it. The only thing which happened directly before was that the battery was low and it switched off. This has happened before, but usually when I plug it in to charge it can just turn back on, or if not plugged in then tries to turn on but turns off again. The amber light comes on when it's plugged in to the charger, and it has been charged for enough time that it should turn on as normal.
I'm not as tech-minded as most of you so I'm kinda fumbling around trying to make something work.
I have tried:
Soft reset (multiple times, at different points in the loading (ie when it has the red writing bottom left before freezing, during "quietly brilliant" animation, and after freezing.
Turning on with memory card out.
Turning on with sim card out.
Turning on while plugged into charger.
Turning on when plugged into usb.
The phone will not:
Boot fully
register when plugged into PC
But it will enter bootloader mode (did I get the right terminology? With the Colour banding?)
When in this mode it either displays "Serial" or "USB" (if connected to PC)
I'm desperately trying to avoid a hard-reset as I've spent quite a long time manually entering contacts etc which aren't backed up (all would be lost ) and getting twitter/youtube/facebook all that jazz set up, along with programs and BSB tweaks, Dutty's task manager etc etc set up.
Have also spent time changing the theme with HDWall, and removing curtains/backgrounds etc with the TOUCH X tweaks. I've finally got my phone just how I want it...the biggest thing, of course is losing all of my contacts though.
I just have a HTC rom installed (can't remember what it was called, but nothing fancy, just the normal one to replace my TMobile rom).
Would really appreciate some advice/insight into what is going on and what I can do to sort it. Please help!
N
p.s. yes, I realise it was very stupid to not back up contacts...really really stupid. That will be the first thing I do once this is sorted!!
Oh and it won't turn off using the hang-up button when it's frozen-I have to remove the battery.

If you use Exchange, all your contacts are stored in Exchange...which has the immediate benefit of backing them up, and the other benefit of making them sync with Outlook/OWA.

Hi there,
Thank you for your reply, I'll bear that in mind next time. But for now - how would I be able to check this? I'm really not sure if I set this up. Can I check it on my PC? I have Office 2007.
N
Ok...so I've found some of my contacts in my Outlook. Guess they weren't updated very recently but at least some are there. I can do a hard reset if I MUST...but please does anyone know of anything else I can try?
And if I leave it overnight is it best to leave it frozen/switched off/charging/battery out?
Will head off to bed soon as it's nearly midnight here and I've got work tomorrow.
N
Try to flash with another radio, you don´t miss your contacts if you do.
Some roms block with some radios.
hope it solves your problem
Ok, I'm going to try it. Found the old .nbh file and it was the 1.66 rom. So just trying to find the right radio one now. Thank you for the tip
Have tried 2 different Radio versions now and still sticks on the same screen on satrtup...is it hard reset time?
Feel like I'm speaking to myself here!! Ah well!...an update. DId a hard reset, and my lovely HD2 is alive and well (albeit looking far too "fresh out of the box"). While I'm at it with nothing back...is there a "better" standard ROM than 1.66 to be using? Anything newer? I'm never sure about these things.
Thanks for your patience and consideration guys...I'm a bit of a noob girl when it comes to these things!
Sound like you've installed a customized ROM. If its the case try to find out what is the best Radio for that ROM and re-install it.
I think my phone might be fudged. I have been running android fine for the last few weeks until it crashed, I removed the battery to reset but the phone wouldn’t turn back on. However I could boot to the tri-color screen so I tried putting windows 6.5 back on the phone, the installation finished but the phone still wouldn’t boot the OS. I can still get the tri-color screen and have tried re-installing the radio/magdlr but they stick on 0%. Also my battery at best probably has 20-30% of juice left (it won’t charge either).
Anyone know what the cause of the problem is and if there is a way it can be fixed?
thanks in advance!

Try doing a Task29 then flash a compatible Radio then flash MAGLDR.. and lets see what happens
You will need to charge your battery. If it dies during a flash then you will have an even bigger problem to sort out.
If its less than 50% this is probably why its sticking at 0%.
Is your HSPL still intact and which radio are you using?

lower than 50% doesn't really matter from the bootloader, only RUU.
It sounds like hardware problem, or something fishy going on in NAND, I'd do task29 followed by ROM/Radio
thanks for the responses. I still have hspl, I manged to successfully install task 29 after that I tried flashing a windows 6.5 rom, once again phone won't start up after 100% all i can do is get to the 4 colored screen.
is there anything else I can try? considering my battery must be really low and I have no way of charging it.

If you got 100% when you flashed the Windows Mobile ROM and your HD2 rebooted itself, then you sucessfuly flashed the ROM.
Did it boot up to the bootloader or the first splash screen (Stick Together or white HTC screen depending on which HD2 you have)?
If it booted to the first splashscreen it could be the processor having troubles or possible bad blocked incthe NAND memory.
If it boots straight to bootloader then you have a bad NAND memory.
It doesn't reboot to either screen, it simply turns off after the rom is finished installing and doesn't start back up again. The only thing I can do is press volume down and red button to boot the 4 colored screen. When I press the power button all that happens is the phone sometimes makes a tiny vibration.

Yeah sounds like you probably have a internal problem with hardware. But it might could because software related issue, but I highly doubt it. The only software problem you could have that I can think of is a problem with your SPL or HSPL which ever one you have, but you should have HSPL cause you where running Android.
Would a corrupt bootsplash do this?

If you are asking if a currupt splash screen could cause your issue, I would have to say it could be possible, but I do not know enough to say for sure, sorry. You can put this to a test though and flash another splash screen, but the ROM should have flashed a splash screen. Maybe the splash screen it flashed was currupted or had a bad flash. Go to this link to get a splash screen and learn how to flash one.
I've said this a lot in other threads, but create a gold card SD. This will allow you to flash ALL the necessary components from the SD card. Then report back with your experience...
I think here might be something wrong with the htc sense, but the thing is, that my hd2 touchscreen wont respond to my touch. When i'm at the unlock screen, i cant slide it to open up. This wont change after reboot either.
So eventually i set a hard-reset on the phone, but it didn't work after that either. I tried three times, no respond. Without the sim and with it in.
I cant recive calls or text messages, because i cant tap my PIN in, neither i could open or answer. I'm f***ed.
Okay, the next day i do my fourth hard-reset, and it starts working again, but after a time of use, it will start getting slow with the touch again, and then it will stop responding again. So I don't now what to do. There is now warranty time left, so i want to see what i can do my self before taking it to a repairing place and pay 100 € for it.
This is my everyday phone, and i would like to get it back to normal state as soon as possible, so many many many thanks to all who try to help me out of this
Cheers,
Nother

Have you flashed HSPL on it or this is all stock ROM?
honestly it looks like a hardware issue to me.
well i looked at the stats, and seems like i have HSPL on it, but it's not bought from a reseller, it was bought second-hand. it has worked perfectly until a few days ago, then the freezing started.

ok if it has HSPL on there that means someone flashed something on there.
I would flash task29, then flash the ROM of your choice and see if it still does it.
If the ROM is the problem a hard-reset won't fix it, so let's try this and see what happens.
Okay thanks for the help
the only problem is that i'm running on a mac, and i cant find any software to flash the hd2 on a mac..? Do you now any?
and could you link me a thread or a tutorial to how to flash 'cause i'm quite new with this anyway.
Thanks!

There is no way to do this on a mac, find a PC.
ok, here's the quick version.
1) download the attached file from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5848003&postcount=19
2) turn your phone off, then turn it back on while holding the vol-down arrow, this will bring you to a tri color screen. Make sure you are plugged in via USB.
(you could do this via activesync, but I want to avoid the freeze so this gets you right into bootloader)
3) unzip the file and run it, follow the on-screen instructions, it will flash task 29, which is basically a good reformat.
4) if you are fast, hold the vol down arrow when it reaches 100% and don't let go till you're back at the tri-color screen. If it goes to the splash screen it will stay there forever (because there is nothing flashed on your phone now). You have to do a battery pull or press the reset button. In this case hold the vol-down arrow again and power on the device to get you into the tri-color screen again.
5) Download the ROM of your choice from this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=534
They are all custom ROMs, my favorite is the this one currently:
http://hotfile.com/dl/117879873/9b01b43/Energy.Leo.29020.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.sencity.May.14.7z.html
It was taken from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
and is the awesome one with big finger friendly buttons as well as that awesome blackish theme (Sencity)
If you don't want a custom ROM then go to the HTC support site and find your stock ROM, download and flash that via SD card (I am assuming you have an international HD2 and not a TMOUS one).
If for some reason you have a TMOUS one DO NOT GO THRU HTC BUT USE TMOBILE'S SUPPORT SITE.
Let's get you rocking and rolling!
Thank you very much for your help, i'm very grateful
I'm going to run W7 virtually, just to be quick.
And I was thinking to flash straight to Android, is that possible? Like android 2.3 or something.
Cheers!
sorry if I made you unhappy, but my phone is now in a technic service due to same problem, it never fixed with a rom update, day by day your problem will appear more frequently, this is a hardware issue, maybe digitizer maybe hardware buttons block your touch screen.. I will see what will happen after my phone come to my hands again..
Okay thanks.
I will see what the reflashing will do. Then if it doesn't work, i will take it to repairing.
Thanks!

best regards from me
My HD2 had been working fine for the 14 months Iv had it, woke up this morning to find the touch screen would not respond, tried taking the battery out and rebooting, still didnt work. So I plugged it into my computer to back up, and guess what the screen workks.
Take the usb out of the phone and it will work fine, untill you lock the phone and then it wont unlock again. PLug it back into the computer and I can unlock the phone and use it.
Any Ideas. Deperate for help as im away from home on business.
Similar problem here, except part with computer. Since yesterday, I can't unlock it When I turn it on, first time unlock works, and everything is perfect, but when I lock it, it can't be unlocked without pulling the battery out and restarting it. I tried reinstalling system, even removing hspl, and getting back to windows 6.5, but it's the same
Anyone have any idea what is the problem??
Thanks in advance
As far as I'm familiar with this problem it is the hardware problem. If you guys still have your warranties send your HD2s to HTC and they will surely repair it
If you're running Android or WP7 or only have HSPL on your devices make sure to get back to stock rom
Just found it in another thread try this: http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3-PNYwpYeI
Hello,
This night, i have flashed my HD2 with Android using this tutorial :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
Everything was Ok. I followed the tutorial, finally i flashed the device.
My phone started with new Android system, i setup my Wifi connections, operator config....
Suddenly when i pushed the power button, my screen becames black.
Now when i remove the battery and power on the HD2. I can hear the sound of "HTC Quielty brillant" 's screen, a sound when Android looks to start. Finally my ativity LED turn Green (Stay green). The screen stay black. But the button and the backlight works fine. If i try to power on with Volume down, my screen still stay black to but i can't hear sounds of HTC (It looks like boot is working but no diplay :l )
So there is my question :
Do you think my HD2 is bricked ? I don't think cause i can hear sounds but in your opinion ?
Maybe it's my screen which is broken ? But exactly when i used my Android ROM for the 1st time ! Strange ?! :l
Maybe it's a way to fix it ? I missed something ?!
Please help me My Chrismas presents was HD2, clothes, clothes, clothes .... If I bricked my new smartphone ... I d'ont' care about clothes :S
It might be a hardware problem, it is a known problem that HD2s have their screen cables under the power button. So it might be that.
But 1 question: when you say the backlight is working, do you mean that the screen is light up, but with black color, nothing showing? - in this case, your hardware is OK. If so, then you should try getting into bootloader and install another different ROM.
Or you mean only that the buttons are lit up? In that case I'd say that the hardware is the problem.
In that case you'll have to return it for warranty... But you'll have to get the stick ROM on it back again... Thats gonna be another problem.
Lots of problems, sorry to hear that...
Thank you for your help
This is the video of what happens when i turn it ON. lol

It looks to be this case.
But when i boot my phone with Vol.Down pressed.
It don't start same way. But there is nothing displayed ...
Is it possible that the way i flashed the phone is making that the screen don't work ? (With the version on Radio or something about flashing ?!)
The person which gave me the phone, stop warranty to put it on his newone
So i'll must to find a solution in every cases or accept defeat
Ok, from what I see, it must be software problem, because there is backlight after turn on, so the screen works.
now, have you flashed clk or magldr?
If clk, then try after turning on the phone holding the home button. That should start the clockwork mod recovery. Maybe it will start.
However, you should try connecting the phone to your computer and seeing if the PC loads the phone?
If so, you should download hd2 toolkit (search for it) and run task29 on it (that will erase the nand memory completely).
Then flash the bootloader again, then continue with ROM installation as before.
Hopefully after task29 it should start working.
But 1 warning! After task29, you must install bootloader immediately, BEFORE disconnecting the phone or restarting it. If you don't, you'll brick your phone. Bootloader must be installed before restarting/ rebooting the phone.
I'm no expert in all this, I recommend to do a lot of reading before attempting all this.
Good luck mate!
Thats not right, you can flash everytime after you used task 29, you just need HSPL.
Also the phone restarts by itself after using task 29...

I hoped someone would correct me i dont use task 29 from hd2 toolkit often, i'm on clk, so everything done through cwm.
Finally I tried what you recommend. To make a Task29. And it looks to work but my screen still stay black... I think there is a problem with the data connection between the phone and the screen... the connector must be badly connected or a little bit destroyed something like this... :l
What do you think about this ?
Thanks for your help. Sorry for the time between my answers.
I have written a clk guide that will make this process much easier for you. I'm on my phone and the YouTube video isn't working. I will update this post more once I watch video.
But as of right now it sounds like you need a new rom
Edit:
I've read more, and somethings wrong with your screen. Your screen can be broken and the back light still work. In fact, it sounds like everything works fine except the screen. I think you need to flash back to windows mobile and send it in for a warranty repair.
