Has anyone got to record some 720p video without being so choppy and horrible looking? I tried many options and nothing looks even close to 720p. Everything looks choppy and grainy. When I use mediainfo for the file the highest resolution its taking is 640x480 and I have the setting set to 720p. What setting are you using with your streak that will give you some decent video. By the way the lighting in my room was bright. Another bug I might have found is when I chose custom in the quality settings the app freezes when I hit record. Then I will have to power down the phone to shut it down.

Hmm, i personally feel that the streak video recording for 720p was pretty good, it may not be the best quality but it doesn't seem that bad as you describe.
Having read your last sentence, i realized that you have not apply the 720p fix from Stephen that why you can't choose custom and record in true 720p....
This fix has been since 146
Here's the fix and you need to flash with fastboot
Flash this using the fastboot command fastboot -i 0x413c flash dsp1 dsp1.mbn

Update: I just set it to custom now its recording in 720p. Thanks for your help. What do u set the other settings to? I posted a pick of my results of my vid. The video still doesnt look that great but much better than before. I expected more from 720p video. Check out my results do they look normal. Thought the fps was rather low. Is this normal?

I've never been able to get anything higher than 18 fps and that was in the middle of the day, nice and sunny. The fps is always low.

I recorded a video and got about 6.7 fps as well. For the first time, at least. While stopping that recording my video camera FC'd and now I can't get it to give me 720 any more no matter what I do. I've tried reflashing to no avail
I take that back. I reset the settings to default and now I can do 30-seconds of 720p again. That'll do for tonight, I'll take my real camera I guess. Suckish tho
Someone help me video cameraplz

For a phone/pda/taoster device it has a decent camera. Here are a few pics I took in chicago while moving...in a truck, and I think they came out pretty good.

thanx nick , very decent picture, could you also tell me how's the video quality , is the video good , or does it skips ?
photo and video quality are good in outdoor / good lighting conditions (photos are not as good as but close to k750 quality, video is better) but at night and in dark places they are terrible.
Because the TyTN has onboard MPEG-4 hardware compression, the video comes out very smooth without any skipped frames. However, the compresion makes the video look kind of weird sometimes. Basically it looks as if you are looking up at the video from the bottom of a pool or something, with the image swimming around and looking very liquid. It's worse if you rotate the camera a bit while panning left-right.
@darky , at night I ain't expecting anything both in the photo mode and the video mode .
@rassah , will it be asking you too much to upload a small video if feasible , cause I cannot visualize the 'liquid' effect of yours ,though I am happy of to know atleast i doesn't skip
and o yes thanx u again

the video quality is ok its looks good and u only notice very little fussiness/graininess from the video, i would like to know what...
1- whats the recommended codec format
2- whats the recommended video bitrate
Well you can raise the bitrate a lot, at least 2000. 712 is more like the bitrate the HD likes. Keep raising it until your happy the quality, smoothness and files size are to your taste.
I believe you can turn CABAC on as well, the HD didnt like it but the HD2 seems ok with it, it should help quality.
I'd go with .mp4 since it's universal with iPods and such.
What's the resolutaion of your original source?

Is this some kind of a sport or are you guys really going to convert every single video to watch on your phone? I mean, you aren't going to use it as your primary video device, are you? And for occasional watching isn't this too much of a hassle?

If you spend 30sec and look carefully you can see a difference, seeing it for 1/30 second i doubt you would even notice. 2000 bitrate should easily be enough, bring the file size down too.
As a percentage, how much bigger is the 4000 bitrate file over the 712 one?

yes think 2000 is plent, size is
712b/rate = 15.3mb @ 02.33min lengh

Come on, it looks ok! I'd give it 7-8/10
It's clear and quite smooth, around 27/28fps, far better than it was before...
Was that with the BRAVIA engine on?
How do we know this was recorded using a Xperia Play?
Does it have option to record in 480p too?
Could you do a video example of the same thing in 480p and 720p to see how it improved?
How is it light compared to real life? We don't have the Exmor sensor
Hey,any improvementis good improvement.it looked quite crispy

(YOUTUBE)96EocxqNVGs(/YOUTUBE)
Use square brackets though.

On my free time I'll try to upload some vid with some of my fighting *****..
Ok, I'll take a video of something tomorrow in 480p and then 720p, and I'll edit them in side by side, and see what everyone thinks.
@Miles Wolf This was recorded on my Xperia Play, as I stated earlier...don't see why I would fake it?
not much difference from the old 480p with regards to picture quality and fps, though the increased resolution is something!
Awwww, how cute the dogs are.
Nice, buy they didn't change the interface of the camera, right?
But, is great

You realize you can't show off the quality of the display via a screen shot. This needs to be experienced first hand.
To my untrained eye the panel on my G3 looks good in general , too bad for the sharpening though which is noticeable in some cases.
Web video looks good in general, but I won't go as far as to say that a 1080p display would be very bad (thinking about the G2 for example). The best content on this phone was content that shipped (the sample videos) and I copied a random 4K sample on it for kicks.

I shot some video in standard HD and i'm surprised how bad the quality is due to compression artefacts. My S6 shoots way better video than S8.
This can't be possible.
Am I missing something? I can't find any settings for compression.
And there's no way such bad quality is the case when I've seen videos from other ppl and in reviews as well as Samsung's own advertisements/ showcase of camera & video shooting.
Help/ suggestions appreciated, thanks!
Wait so you are shooting in 720p and expecting good quality?

It's shot in FHD 1080p.
And I've had way better quality on my S6. Something can't be right.
Usually the video on these smartphones, at least since S6 is almost on par with DSLR video.
But now the videos I shot on my S8 are below acceptable. Extremely fuzzy and large compression artefacts that I have never seen before on a smartphone. Not even when I was still on my iPhone 4.
You can see other examples of videos on YouTube that people shot with S8 and on review videos, which is what I was expecting. But not extremely poor video quality.
And there's no settings at all for compression stuff. Any other ideas?
Here is also a screengrab of a part in the video.
It's a test video done in the kitchen. There was enough light, even bright lights on except in that part where it was a little darker but it should never be this harshly compressed even in somewhat darker or low light conditions.
I mean look at the image. You can barely notice any straight lines and the fridge corner, it's so extremely fuzzy breaking up any straight lines.

It would be better if there is dark in the darkness instead of this software-tuned ****.

Try this maybe
I have same problem too on low light, try to :
- Set to FHD or higher
- Dont use 60fps
- Disable stabilization
I tried that and seem fixed it
I'm having the same issue... But wondering why this isn't a widely reported issue?
Samsung paid for youtube reviews. Those videos were probably shot with thousand dollar dslr cameras. Wonder what the u 11 camera actually looks like. Hm. ?
