the video quality is ok its looks good and u only notice very little fussiness/graininess from the video, i would like to know what...
1- whats the recommended codec format
2- whats the recommended video bitrate

Well you can raise the bitrate a lot, at least 2000. 712 is more like the bitrate the HD likes. Keep raising it until your happy the quality, smoothness and files size are to your taste.
I believe you can turn CABAC on as well, the HD didnt like it but the HD2 seems ok with it, it should help quality.

I'd go with .mp4 since it's universal with iPods and such.
What's the resolutaion of your original source?

will look into this now matey thanks

heres a sample ive done using same settings as in post one .m4v ipod format
different bitrates

Is this some kind of a sport or are you guys really going to convert every single video to watch on your phone? I mean, you aren't going to use it as your primary video device, are you? And for occasional watching isn't this too much of a hassle?

If you spend 30sec and look carefully you can see a difference, seeing it for 1/30 second i doubt you would even notice. 2000 bitrate should easily be enough, bring the file size down too.
As a percentage, how much bigger is the 4000 bitrate file over the 712 one?

yes think 2000 is plent, size is
712b/rate = 15.3mb @ 02.33min lengh
4000b/rate = 79.2mb @ 02.33min lengh

720p issues with froyo 1.5.1

Has anyone got to record some 720p video without being so choppy and horrible looking? I tried many options and nothing looks even close to 720p. Everything looks choppy and grainy. When I use mediainfo for the file the highest resolution its taking is 640x480 and I have the setting set to 720p. What setting are you using with your streak that will give you some decent video. By the way the lighting in my room was bright. Another bug I might have found is when I chose custom in the quality settings the app freezes when I hit record. Then I will have to power down the phone to shut it down.

Hmm, i personally feel that the streak video recording for 720p was pretty good, it may not be the best quality but it doesn't seem that bad as you describe.
Having read your last sentence, i realized that you have not apply the 720p fix from Stephen that why you can't choose custom and record in true 720p....
This fix has been since 146
Here's the fix and you need to flash with fastboot
Flash this using the fastboot command fastboot -i 0x413c flash dsp1 dsp1.mbn

Mine is
Video quality:720p
Video Encorder:MPEG4
And set to custom
720p,mpeg4 set to high.
Update: I just set it to custom now its recording in 720p. Thanks for your help. What do u set the other settings to? I posted a pick of my results of my vid. The video still doesnt look that great but much better than before. I expected more from 720p video. Check out my results do they look normal. Thought the fps was rather low. Is this normal?

I've never been able to get anything higher than 18 fps and that was in the middle of the day, nice and sunny. The fps is always low.

I recorded a video and got about 6.7 fps as well. For the first time, at least. While stopping that recording my video camera FC'd and now I can't get it to give me 720 any more no matter what I do. I've tried reflashing to no avail
I take that back. I reset the settings to default and now I can do 30-seconds of 720p again. That'll do for tonight, I'll take my real camera I guess. Suckish tho
Someone help me video cameraplz

BadaBoom2 - Convert Vids at 2x-5x Speed

Yes, this is yet another video conversion thread. Yea!
I just installed Badaboom2 and it seems to work very well for the Xoom. The original version of Badaboom was pretty buggy, but 2 seems to be much better.
Config is super simple; drop in a video file, select the Xoom under Output, click start.
Most importantly, it also supports Nvidia CUDA. If you have a compatible video card, it will offload most of the conversion overhead to the GPU.
I just converted a 5000 kbps MPEG4 video. Look at the CPU\GPU utilization and the frame rate.

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The frame rate is 27.xxx per second, but lets say it is 30.
155 FPS / 30 = @5x speed
Since most of the heavy lifting was pushed to the GPU, the machine was usable while converting. I wouldn't notice it was even running unless I looked at the GPU consumption in Aida64. That said, I wouldn't try to play Crysis 2 MP demo while converting either
Speaking of silly, here's my setup:
CPU: Intel 2600K [email protected] MHz
MB: Asus Maximus Extreme 4
Vid: Nvidia 580 GTX
OS Disk: 4x 60GB OCZ Vertex2 SSD's, RAID0 (Intel RAID)
Storage: 4x 2TB Seagate Barracuda's, RAID5 (Areca 1210 RAID Controller)
BR Drive: LG GGW-H20L
I also tried converting a M2TS file directly from a Blueray disc.
That's 2x. I copied the file off the disc to the OS drive and saw the same performance, so there isn't any gain moving the file to a faster medium. I use AnyDVD HD for ripping, if you are curious.
Note: some BR movies are spread across multiple files. Badaboom doesn't join them or allow you to convert an entire blueray movie. It may do DVD's but I haven't tried.
The default Xoom settings are: 1280x720 at 2500 kbps, 23 FPS and 125 kbps stereo audio. You can change this if you want, but the default works for me. The playback is completely smooth and very sharp.
I'm going to do more conversions before buying Badaboom, but I'm pretty happy right now. You can convert 30 videos on the demo, no watermarks.
The only complaint I have with that software is that it produces HUGE output files no matter what compared to solutions like handbrake.
looks quick but wow if I'm looking at it right 5 gigs for 1 movie is insane. I have 18 movies and still have 8gb of space and that's with apps, pics, and music too
What was the size of the input file compared to the output file? What does it rip the file into? [email protected] I'm guessing??
The defaults look to be baseline with the level set at auto. Not sure which it chooses in this mode, but you can set it from 1 thru 4.1
Can someone just release a batch program? I just want to convert all my High Profiles to identical Main Profiles. If I had an app that could do that I would be sitting pretty.

Standard, always.
Dynamic is too rich for me. Movie is, poor.
I actually prefer movie, apart from when I watch a movie, when I change to standard... Retarded right?

I use Dynamic. It's like a constant live HDR mode. This is the single reason why I return to stock each time I try a new CM7 nightly.
Movie. Switched to Standard for a day and got poor battery life so I put it back onto movie. Standard is a lot nicer picture though.
Dynamic!! The colours in dynamic mode make my eyes have orgasm. Yeah, I cry from happiness. PP
Dynamic has too much contrast, you will loose a lot of detail in shadows.
Standard, Dynamic offers too much saturation for my taste.
Dynamic ftw, specially if u have a screen protector on, they kinda level out one another

Movie is best. The other two are harsh and over saturated.
I am using standard, never played around with it really.
Used Standard for now but will try movie to see how much difference there is in battery life.
Dynamic is plain folly to use unless you have a very bad eye sight already.

Come on, it looks ok! I'd give it 7-8/10
It's clear and quite smooth, around 27/28fps, far better than it was before...
Was that with the BRAVIA engine on?
How do we know this was recorded using a Xperia Play?
Does it have option to record in 480p too?
Could you do a video example of the same thing in 480p and 720p to see how it improved?
How is it light compared to real life? We don't have the Exmor sensor
Hey,any improvementis good improvement.it looked quite crispy

(YOUTUBE)96EocxqNVGs(/YOUTUBE)
Use square brackets though.

I think its still the same, here's a clip from the last vid I recorded from my 2.3.3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16w8pVOwG2o
On my free time I'll try to upload some vid with some of my fighting *****..
Ok, I'll take a video of something tomorrow in 480p and then 720p, and I'll edit them in side by side, and see what everyone thinks.
@Miles Wolf This was recorded on my Xperia Play, as I stated earlier...don't see why I would fake it?
not much difference from the old 480p with regards to picture quality and fps, though the increased resolution is something!
Awwww, how cute the dogs are.
Nice, buy they didn't change the interface of the camera, right?
But, is great

You realize you can't show off the quality of the display via a screen shot. This needs to be experienced first hand.
To my untrained eye the panel on my G3 looks good in general , too bad for the sharpening though which is noticeable in some cases.
Web video looks good in general, but I won't go as far as to say that a 1080p display would be very bad (thinking about the G2 for example). The best content on this phone was content that shipped (the sample videos) and I copied a random 4K sample on it for kicks.
