So I uninstalled the launcher on my phone and inadvertently exited market before I downloaded/installed another one. Now all I have is a notification bar and black screen.
Is there a way to install apk's through CWM? I'm sure there is, I just need to get launcher pro back on my phone. I don't want to revert back to my last backup because it's kind of old.
Thanks guys
Edit: Sorry wrong forum, please move to general.
maybe hold the 'home' button - see if it gives you Market as recently used apps, and d/l a launcher.
I knew the solution would be simple. Thank you very much sir
hehe no prob. glad that worked before u got flash-happy.

I just downloaded diniks taskbar and it really messed up my phone, first there's no icons at the top just the time and start. But when I press start nothing happens my phone is freezing bad I can't even go to the file explorer, I removed the taskbar through pc. Please help me my phone isn't working right at all.
Ok my phone isn't freezing up anymore and I have removed the program through my pc, finally went to file explorer and it's not showing up on there so what I want to know is why don't I have my icons back at the top, why can't I have my phone back like it was before I installed the taskbar 1.5. I still can't go to the start screen when I press it and when I get a call or text the icons show, the icons that show are the ones that I wanted in the begining(dinik anastasia taskbar) why are they showing if I removed it?
I encountered this before and I tried real hard trying to find out what caused it. After you installed the application, did you reboot your phone? It could be other programs having compatibility issues with it. I just ended up hard resetting my phone. The lesson I learned is to make notes after each installation and do a tideous test if I can of the functionality of the phone just to make sure everything is working properly before I install another app again.
Hopefully someone else has a better solution.
I just got it fixed someone from another site helped me out, I had to install one more thing to make it work right. I feel better now lol...

What exactly did it take? It would help others dealing with it if you posted what you found.
I know what you did
You forgot to insall he skcert.cam. I know this because I just did this last night. I figured out that my bottom home menue still worked though. I scrolled all the way to settings and removed the task bar.
I thought that once you installed it once you wouldnt have to install it again when you wanted to change your task bar. I was wrong. Each time you uninstall a task bar and want to install another one you must run the cert file.

That's what I forgot to do install skcert.cam, but what was freaking me out is why my phone was freezing up really bad.

I too had to learn this the hard way. I did not need a hard reset just moved the slider to remove programs and restarted and it was fine. I had to use the updated skcert cab though the first one did not work at all. But now I am styling with the dinink taskbar

I don't mind learning lessons the hard way. As long as they don't brick my phone. LOL. That is what is stopping me from flashing a rom. I am scared of messing it up. one little mistake and its back to my old beat up blackberry LOL>
Sorry if a thread already exists but have done a search and keep finding irrelevant info with the keywords ive used.
It seems for some reason that the launcher doesn't load up and im left with a black screen.
I can however pull down notification bar and that seems to run fine although I cant get access to any menu's to install/activate launcher. I also tried putting a apk of a launcher in the AndroidApps directory to see if it would auto install it but it didnt so im assuming that it only works on first boot.
This has happened twice now on 2 different builds as far as I know and cant pin down what causes it as it seems random to me.
Has anybody had similar issue and know how to fix it by putting launcher back in offline maybe.
Did you uninstall all launchers you have or it's happening for no reason ?
Also, When on the black screen try pressing the Home button as it lets you choose a launcher whenever nothing is running.
No its just happening randomly, Im not installing or installing any launchers. Yes bud, I tried pressing home button as its the most obviously thing to try and nothing happened.
Its as if the launcher programs are not loading or are not there.
I ended up moving onto MDJ's Gingerbread now anyway but would still like it if somebody could shed some light on problem if poss.
Hi,
I have an odd issue. I got a Legend as a loaner for my samsung SGS i9000m (don't get it...).
Anyhow the phone died from low battery last night and now when I turn it on I get the lockscreen fine (screen in full colour etc etc) but when I unlock it the screen goes black. I cann't get any menu to come up either unless I've used a program that I have accessed some other way. For example I can access e-mail if a notification shows up but I can't use it on its own because I cannot get to any home pages and I can access search from the buttons and the keyboard from the buttons but nothing else.
I've tried a battery/sd card/sim out reboot but no dice. I'll try another sd card in a bit but it seems like the sense ui is not loading or something.
Any thoughts or suggestions. I can't access market or any apps so please keep that in mind with suggestions. It was not rooted or modified in any way as its just a loaner.
Thanks, G
If somehow you can get access to "manage application", you could try doing a clear data/clear on HTC Sense and see if that brings back the home screen.
Or go to http://market.android.com and get ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro (remote Install)
And/or try to do a factory reset?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply but its now in a bag waiting to go to the post office. I told them not to bother and send another. I tried to get to the menus but no dice, and since I could not use the dialer, even any phone line commands I think would not have worked.
I had thought about looking into a remote install but thats too much effort to learn for a phone I was only going to have for a few weeks and it may not have worked still. Went back to just a plain old cell for now....

1. Go to market.android.com
2. Find LauncherPro/ADWLauncher.
3. Click install.
Was it really that hard? |:
At the most all you have to do is login to your GMail account.
Ohh- right from the phone, Duh!
Yeah that might have worked but I was thinking on the PC and then having to push it to the phone somehow.
Yeah could have tried that but its in an envelope now...
Hi,
this is not the first time that it happens, in the past to solve I had to reinstall the whole firmware, but honestly is a waste of time reinstall all the apps and restore their data. My problem is that sometimes when I quit from some apps (generally games) the buttons of phone, address book and sms disappears from launcher bar (as you can see in attached photo). Probably the question is stupid but... have you any hint on how to reconfigure the launcher?
TIA
just enter menu... then press soft key... then press edit... and then just drag phone, messages and contacts back to the drawer...
Mmmmhhhhh no way, from menu->edit I can only add and remove homepages.
i got that sometimes roght after restart when the phone is still loading ... either that is it or if it will not apear after like 15 seconds you can clear tw cache/data in settings/aplications/manage aplications/ALL - find tw launcher (sometimes in some languages it is called network) anyways youre looking for such icon there on list
Tank you $omator, this resolve my issue
FYI my application is called 'Home'
depends on translation in Polish it is Sieć and that means Network
anyways gg
why don't like you go launcher ex? =)
thanks again $omator
your trick has worked also for me!
btw in french it's "acceuil"

i like simple tw3 look for example modified a bit to fit my needs,
ofc they can always install alternative launcher BUT HOW IS THAT FIXING THE MISSING ICON PROBLEM?
it is not, and that is not this thread topic (what launcher do i use)
but how to solve particular issue
you should move the apps in your dock to the app menu before using a new launcher
I am far from an expert with this stuff, but since I can read and follow basic instructions, I was able to root the Nook Color (from stock 1.3) that I got several months ago. But, now I had the 1.4.1 update pushed through and root is been broken.
The thing is that I am happy with everything that is there, and I don't feel like I need to get the market back because all of the apps I have loaded before work, I just can't get to them. The "home screen" (sorry if that isn't the right word) I had been using only loads when I start up, and now when I press "n" it takes me back to the B&N stock home screen. Is there a way I can change this so I can make it go back to the screen I had been using with root, instead of having to restart everytime I want to get to it? Or, will I have to go through the trouble of re-rooting and reloading all of my apps?
I hope my question makes sense and I thank you for taking the time with someone who is not an expert on this stuff...
I've posted a howto with everything I know about rooting 1.4.1. The community here at XDA is fantastic, and they've made doing this much easier.
The key to happy rooting is to disable automatic OTA updates. There are instructions for doing this in the howto. Don't update until you're sure root and 3rd party apps are available.
If you're really happy with it the way it is, and just want a way to get to the Android launcher, you can install Button Savior, Virtual Button Bar or something equivalent to give you the Android buttons on-screen along one edge, including a Home key. Be sure to set the Android launcher you use as your default home.
Alternately, you could use Folder Organizer and put a shortcut to your launcher in the Notifications group and turn on that feature.
Of course, now you need to figure out HOW to load one of these! Sideloading should work.
