Hi,
I have an odd issue. I got a Legend as a loaner for my samsung SGS i9000m (don't get it...).
Anyhow the phone died from low battery last night and now when I turn it on I get the lockscreen fine (screen in full colour etc etc) but when I unlock it the screen goes black. I cann't get any menu to come up either unless I've used a program that I have accessed some other way. For example I can access e-mail if a notification shows up but I can't use it on its own because I cannot get to any home pages and I can access search from the buttons and the keyboard from the buttons but nothing else.
I've tried a battery/sd card/sim out reboot but no dice. I'll try another sd card in a bit but it seems like the sense ui is not loading or something.
Any thoughts or suggestions. I can't access market or any apps so please keep that in mind with suggestions. It was not rooted or modified in any way as its just a loaner.
Thanks, G
If somehow you can get access to "manage application", you could try doing a clear data/clear on HTC Sense and see if that brings back the home screen.
Or go to http://market.android.com and get ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro (remote Install)
And/or try to do a factory reset?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply but its now in a bag waiting to go to the post office. I told them not to bother and send another. I tried to get to the menus but no dice, and since I could not use the dialer, even any phone line commands I think would not have worked.
I had thought about looking into a remote install but thats too much effort to learn for a phone I was only going to have for a few weeks and it may not have worked still. Went back to just a plain old cell for now....

1. Go to market.android.com
2. Find LauncherPro/ADWLauncher.
3. Click install.
Was it really that hard? |:
At the most all you have to do is login to your GMail account.
Ohh- right from the phone, Duh!
Yeah that might have worked but I was thinking on the PC and then having to push it to the phone somehow.
Yeah could have tried that but its in an envelope now...

I recently got my HD and need to figure out which auto-rotator is better. Also would like some instructions on how to install. THANK YOU!!!
Hi,
I use Flip it by Wild Berry team, its much simpler to use and configure than the two you mentioned.
http://rapidshare.com/files/172926970/Flip_IT_by_WildBerry_Team.cab
Simply copy the cab to your phone and run the cab. Cant for the life of me remember if it needs a soft reset but if its not working then do one.

I did use gyrater but stopped and now use AEButton Plus. I don't now use an automatic rotate app.
AEB+ has a screen rotate function. I have assigned this function to a double press on the OK button.
This allows me to rotate quickly when I want and not automatically. This is my preference since I don't always want the screen rotated.
Find it here: http://ae.inc.ru
I also use it to map the volume up/down to actual up/down and double press for volume control and long press up gives a flash lamp (plamp) and long press down gives auto record on Resco recorder.
AEB+ is shareware but has virtually all the functions available in the unregistered state.
Worked through of few rotational apps but now staying with ChangeScreen. Very easy to use and exclude programmmes (just type in the name). Am finding my list of exclusions keeps growing and wondered whether it is mainly a gimmick.
I think this is because, unless the app is full screen, in widescreen you end up with a long header and footer plate and a lot less screen doing the real business.
Anyway try ChangeScreen .

Hello nogs,
I did 2 times an reboot, but still it don't works.
Do you have any idea.
btw i have a HTC HD
Personally I'd recommend either Changescreen or FlipIt. Both easy to set up and both work a charm!!
anybody got a clue how to totally remove flip it? ive tried with touch flo on and off and just normally remove and removing through activ sync but it still remains in the list of programs and also when i go to start/settings/menus its in there and the box is checked and when i try to uncheck the box it says "cannot move that item",only other way i can think to get rid of it totally is to reflash the rom ag ain which seems a bit extreme to remove an app.

Some roms have apps embedded into them so you cannot remove them unfortunately

It is a tiny app, just turn it off in preferences and ignore it!

OK so I just got my D2 last week, and I have to admit its kind of a grows on ya thing. I also have an hd2 as my personal phone so im spoiled with the giant screen. D2 is much more responsive then my hd2 and dont get me started windows lame OS.
BUT....
Why is there no built in "home" key? when Im browsing there doesn't seem to be any way to get back to the desktop of my phone with out hitting the return button and exiting all applications.
Very annoying. And the whole bajillion apps running that can't be shut off. I bought an app that "freezes" them, so far so good. Why do I have to buy an app to open the cmd prompt?
and the searchsoft key. wtf nothing happens.
IS there any way I can hack and re-assign my keys to different functions?
I would like the search key (magnifying glass) to bring up google search any time i hit it, and my home key to always go back to the homescreen.
is this just me being a noob and cant git' r' done or is this a D2/android thing? THis is only my first week with the android operating system, I realy love it, really makes WM look like a pos. yeah and windows 7? it just ads more ghey to the old wm. stil sucks.
Any help would be nice thanks!
Are you using the stock ROM and launcher? or do you use launcher pro or ADW?
the home key should already be assigned to go back to the desktop as far as I know.
Hi yes I still have stock rom. Also my lockscreen doesn't work and when I push the keylock\power button it doesn't fully lock the screen as if I push the volume button the screen turns on. So im not sure what's up. Homekey as I said doesn't work anymore as well.isn't there someway to hack the phone to re assign keypad softkey function? Also none of these keys work on th KB as well. I still havnt upgraded to 2.3 yet. Seems like a hassle to unroot delete every thing and start over. Yes I have clockwork also TI backup pro
Any suggestions would be great

I don't use the stock launcher anymore. ADW and from what I hear LauncherPro both have preferences that change the home key assignment. I would upgrade to 2.3.20 though it's not a big of a hassle as you would think. I've sbf'd my phone twice and factory reseted everytime I upgrade a ROM. It doesn't take that long as long as you know what you are doing and you have backed up what you need. Google will remember your contacts and apps and settings if you tell it to. The only thing I have to setup are my non gmail email and a few apps that I have login info for. You don't have to unroot. You can just flash the new sbf and then re-root and you'll be updated (always flash with a full or near full battery) and I wouldn't be surprised if it fixed the problem. I've never heard of the soft key's not working on the stock ROM. They worked when I used it before we even had root.
The only way I can get my phone to wake with the volume button is to use "no lock" to turn of the lock screen. But if the lock screen is in place the only way to wake the phone is to press power and then use the sliders.
I did some reading and decided to get SPB Shell 3D. I installed it and set it as default over my Helauncher. When I pressed home all I saw was a black screen and the top status bar. I tried rebooting the phone but it then took a longer time to get past the boot screen. The screen just stayed black, when i received a call the phone lit up and i was able to take the call.
So I can view:
The lockscreen
Phone Call
GO Sms
I can access things from my status bar if it pops up.
press menu and go to applications> and delete the default in spd shell.then press ur home button and select previous one

If you have a back up of the .apk, send via Gmail, install again, and this time, don't select SPB Shell (Always Use This) ... instead, select your normal shell (HTC Sense in my case), then do what namila007 says.
Same thing happened to me.. kept getting black screen, but it would give me option to select SPB or HTC Sense.. finally, like a fool, I selected SPB Always Use This.. and then I couldn't get into my phone at all.. I could view notifications.
I tried to install 1.0.1 but that didn't work. Reinstalled 1.0 on top of 1.0 and it "removed" the "always use this" *flag*, and gave me the option for SBP or HTC Sense again.. I selected HTC Sense and uninstalled SPB.. bleh.
I was trying to avoid a reset.
Good luck!
Namilla007- I cant even see the screen to even go to applications, thats the problem
Easyeee- Yeah I was in your boat, it kept giving me the option between Helauncher or Spb shell. But it gave me black screen when i selected spb shell 3d, and like an idiot i made spb shell 3d default. Ill try the email thing you said, thanks!
I was almost about to flash a new NAND ROM on my hd2. such an annoying folly i caused
Just for info. I had it work as the default on NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.5 and CMYLXGO's Stock Desire HD(2) NAND ROM [v1.1.10n].
What I did was I launch Shell3d once without making it a default. It takes a while to load the first time. Then I move around the screens a few times and hit the home two or three more times each time hitting shell3d. Then hit home one more time and set shell3d as the default.
I am no longer running the program however as it those not work my Lotus notes calender and SPB gave me a refund.
I guessing your not able to see the manage AP because Shell3d hooks into that to allow easy uninstall.
You may need to reset your phone data to fix the issue.
I have just finishied charging my phone and the touch buttons at the bottom just stopped working. I can slide the slider to unlock the phone but where the 4 icons and menu buttons are they dont work.
Please can anyone help me as i can not make a phone call out.

Go to settings, then applications, then click manage applications, find your launcher in the list, click on it, and go to clear data. This will only clear the data for the launcher, and reset it to default settings.

Hi again..
I seem to have set the Nook ST glowlight to go to relaunch instead of the B&N homepage . Now when I click on 'n' and 'Home', it goes to the Relauncher instead.
Is there a way to reset this so it goes to the B&N page again?
I *think* that if you just install another launcher (anything from the market) you will be presented with the possible choices again when you try to access "Home". Then you can select the default B&N Home screen and later uninstall the added launcher.
Yeah, I installed Launcher 8 recently and this didn't trigger that option again. It is there when I do some things, but I think I asked it to remember my choice for the Home button. I am used to Windows OS and when you do something like that, you can always rectify it, by using either default programs or file associations etc. Android must have something similar, no?
When you make a default choice there is a message that tells you where you can reset the option but it seems to refer to a utility that is not accessible the way the Nook is configured. Can't remember exactly what it says but I've run into the problem before and what I offered seemed to work for me. Did you reboot after installing the additional launcher? I guess the other alternative is to UNinstall all of the Android launchers you've added and reboot. Then there would be no alternative to the Nook "Home". Assuming that works you could then reinstall your launcher of choice. It's a pain, I know. I've "rebuilt" my Nook many times while trying to get over the learning curve. Finally bought an additional SD card so I could save a backup every so often when I'm trying out something new. That's come in handy.
No, it's not like Windows at all (which some people would probably say is a good thing).
No need to uninstall anything. With reLaunch go to the app "nook touch mod". Using this app you can map the nook button to anything you want including the B&N Home page.
Unfortunately this doesn't work either. You can set the 'n button' to do anything but bring up the small taskbar at the bottom, which then takes you to the Home page you have set up.
What I wanted back was the ability to hit the n button, and then be offered the choice of relaunch or B&N home. I can still get to the B&N homepage when the unit starts from being powered down. It's not the end of the world, but a little frustrating.
I haven't even tried to sideload apps or anything yet. And my one attempt to download a book ended when it seems my download location is set as an SD card.. I used to think I was tech savvy. It's only going to get worse. :silly:

There is a Android App "Default App Manager" on Google play that may work.

I had a vague notion that NookTouchModManager didn't work with Glowlight, but I might be wrong. If it does work, then you don't want to set the "N" button to bring up Home. Rather you want to set the QuickNav Home button to "default". That's going to get you the B&N page you seek. But that means you will need a way to access your app drawer/launcher as well. For that purpose either one of the other QuickNav buttons could be reassigned OR you could assign a long press of the "N" button to initiate the launcher.
If NTMM doesn't work with Glowlight then I stand by the original idea: uninstall any launchers and reboot. With no alternative, you should get the B&N Home screen unless you have in some other way reassigned the QuickNav Home button.
Don't get discouraged. As a noob (still...) I had to start over quite a few times and there were times I was sure I had bricked my Nook. But I didn't.
