Sorry if a thread already exists but have done a search and keep finding irrelevant info with the keywords ive used.
It seems for some reason that the launcher doesn't load up and im left with a black screen.
I can however pull down notification bar and that seems to run fine although I cant get access to any menu's to install/activate launcher. I also tried putting a apk of a launcher in the AndroidApps directory to see if it would auto install it but it didnt so im assuming that it only works on first boot.
This has happened twice now on 2 different builds as far as I know and cant pin down what causes it as it seems random to me.
Has anybody had similar issue and know how to fix it by putting launcher back in offline maybe.
Did you uninstall all launchers you have or it's happening for no reason ?
Also, When on the black screen try pressing the Home button as it lets you choose a launcher whenever nothing is running.
No its just happening randomly, Im not installing or installing any launchers. Yes bud, I tried pressing home button as its the most obviously thing to try and nothing happened.
Its as if the launcher programs are not loading or are not there.
I ended up moving onto MDJ's Gingerbread now anyway but would still like it if somebody could shed some light on problem if poss.

I encountered a weird bug. If you open the properties button on the Launcher at top of screen and then click the "notification" tab, the tab pops up but never goes away. Click the Launcher setting tab again and nothing happens. At this point I rebooted the tablet to get the notification dialog box to go away.
Any ideas?
Hit the back arrow...
I tried that but did not work. All menus lock up after that. Reboot works.
Wow, that's definitely a bug - got the same thing with Launcher Pro when I clicked on Notifications. Needed to power down the device as it was (almost) frozen.
Anyone know if this occurs in builds before the 2.03 (performance pack)? I'm just wondering if this is the PP at work, or if this has been around since the first TnT Lite builds.

Roebeet, thanks for all your hard work
I can confirm the same results with 2.2.0 and launcher pro...almost frozen and my keyboard would not open.
Added to my Caveats section, just now. Thanks for catching this, smakcc!
Np. I really enjoy beta testing stuff.

I can confirm this on TnT Lite 2.00.
EDIT: I found that if I tap on the battery or wifi indicator, it resets the notifications, and the problem goes away after that.
Just wanted to confirm the same thing. I'll tap on the battery twice and that makes it go away. Glad I bought this thing, I love the feeling of discovery I'm getting from testing different apps and firmwares, haven't had this much fun since I hacked my first PSP!
Same Issue w/ ADW Launcher
I have encountered the same issue but only with ADW Launcher. Everytime I try it it eventually freezes with a white notification tab open. Launcer Pro and the standard launcher works fine. I have tried reinstalling ADW 3 different times and same results. I am running TnT Lite 2.2
I've had it happen with ADW and the swipe down action configured to pop up the notification panel. I never identified the actions it took to actually get it closed again, but I've been able to recover without having to reboot. 2.20 here for me also.

Wifi sleep policy does not work
Anybody else has this problem? My wifi immediately switches off if I put tab to sleep via power button, despite the fact that I put policy to never sleep.
If I'm understanding everyone here, when you swipe up or down on the home screen the battery notification bubble pops up and the controls on the top freeze? I fixed this by going into ADW's settings and disabled swipe up and down.
ETA it wasn't the battery bubble, it was notification bubble. My fix woiks - lol.
Tapping the wifi or battery icons does reset the notification dialog box. It would be nice not to have to do this though.

I found this to be a problem when you have gestures activated in ADW. I don't make my notification bar disappear, so I disabled gestures and the launcher notification bug went away. Of course, this does take away the gesture functionality, but it's something I only accidentally did anyway.
Ehun,
On a different note, thanks for your awe review of the g-tablet, made me go out and buy one!
You mention that it was hard to see buttons in the dark, I worked aroundit but using the buttons on launcher pro. If Only there was an app to poweroff the device it would be great.
Thanks.
I have this issue also. Mine comes from opening. FROM HOMSCREEN (LAUNCHER PRO) > MENU> NOTIFCATIONS.. when opened my window feezes and I reboot to correct...

Click on the actual notification bar and it should clear it out. It seems to be a screen glitche where the pop up ends up on the left side of the screen and slightly off screen.
Thanks for the reply. I will try as specified. you do a great job with the support! Thanks!
"Quick Boot (Reboot)" from Sirius Applications Ltd on the market will let you reboot, power off, or boot into recovery. It's free and it works since you've more than likely got root. Be careful though: it does have a 29.18kb footprint if you're short on space. B)
So I'm having a rather annoying issue with the icons on my device. In order to save space I moved all my games and large programs i only use rarely to the sd card. i'm trying to keep more space for running programs and such (which is another issue i'm having, seems my phone wont keep more than 100mb running space without me constantly hitting the kill button. and even then its annoying that at start up i have 180mb running space, but quickly loose 100mb and can't get it back till i reboot).
anyway, seems that all the programs i've moved to the storage card only show the generic android icon rather than their icons. this is only on my home screen tho. the programs show the correct icons in the program menu. is there a way to refresh the home screen after boot to fix this? or anything i can do other than putting them back onto my phone?
You could force stop the launcher by going into manage applications. That'd refresh it.

i don't see any process called "launcher" or any with that in the name either.

Sorry, you didn't specify which launcher you are using. If it's stock then it's called Sense. Or you could've downloaded one from the Market such as Launcher Pro Plus, ADW, ADW Ex or Zeam (my personal preference).

yeah, I'm still on sense. for now i like it, will branch out and see what others offer eventually.
so if i kill it? then what? will it auto restart or something?

Yup. When you press the Home key.

cool, thanks. seemed to have solved it, mostly. a few of the apps are still stuck with the default android icon, but the rest are now displaying correctly. guess its a side effect of installing apps to the sd card?
Not sure... I've seen apps on SD take a moment to show after a boot but they always show up for me. Unless the the app is no longer actually installed.

I had this issue repeatedly with angrybirds when it was in a homescreen folder. Since I moved it out of the folder it hasn't done it.

seems that is where this problem happens the most. i made folders and put my short cuts in there to help minimize the number of icons on the desktop. was under the impression that it'd help ever so slightly in making it quicker (device wise). but i'm starting to think it doesn't matter that much...
Hi all, a noobie here, I have a DZ running 2.3.3, although I had this problem before the OTA update. When I press the home button, on what is becoming annoying frequently, it crashes, the screen goes white with HTC in green, then the home screen appears, greyed out, with loading in the centre, for 15 to 30 seconds. I have tried uninstalling various apps, to see if they are the cause but it seems to make no difference. Any ideas to at least try and find out what is causing this? I have thought of doing a factory reset but would rather not if there is an easier way.
I have the same problem, It's annoying every now and again, but i've tried a factory reset which hasn't helped in anyway.
I'm not impressed with the 2.3.3 ROM..
It sounds like the launcher is closing itself to save memory. You probably have a memory-hogging app constantly running in the background. You could try force-closing the app in the App Settings menu, or you could install an alternative launcher such as LauncherPro (link) off the Market.
Just trying launcherpro now, so far so good, as stated earlier, I'm a join, would I be correct, from what I have seen so far using it, that I am no longer using HTC Sense?

Your ROM is still HTC Sense. You're just using a new launcher.
Hi all,
Having followed the instructions I now have a non-bricked NST with NookManager and ReLaunch. I now have two fairly irritating problems, probably due to me poking around in the settings menu a bit too hard.
PROBLEM THE FIRST
In ReLaunch, my Settings gear does nothing. I press it and the screen flicks and then goes back to ReLaunch (exactly where I was in the first place). This makes my inner tinkerer sad and also makes it more than a little difficult to try and fix the issue with:
PROBLEM THE SECOND
If I go to the Nook e-book reading mode and then take myself back to ReLaunch (I'd bound it to long-press of the hardware n key before my Settings button stopped working), the entire bottom bar has vanished. Which means no Applications button, which means I can't really get to launching any of my apps, which means I have... an ebook reader. The only way I can restore it is by rebooting the NST and selecting ReLaunch from the launcher menu at startup.
Any clues?

You say you cannot access apps, so figure you have Android Market installed? You could try this - Install launcher 7, once installed, you can 'open' it from the notification. You should then be able to access your apps. Make your first port of call the Nook Touch Mod Manager.
Or you could reset the settings in ReLaunch
I have the same problem.

I even unrooted my Nook and rooted it back to fix his. Unfortunately after one use of settings, this problem occured again. Would anyone help?
Undoubtedly it hit an error and died.
What error? Look at the logcat and see.
You need ADB to see logcat.

I have the same exact problem. Could anyone please help fixing this?
I searched XDA and Google like crazy before finally deciding to post this thread. I can find things that seem similar, but not at the same time. If I missed something, please point me in the right direction..
Most of what I'm reading recommends a different launcher to help with the lag of the stock launcher. I do not have an issue with a laggy stock launcher. Instead I'm having issues with EVERY other launcher I have tried, and believe me I'm pretty sure I've almost tried all of them.
After a few minutes of playing around on my G2, when I hit the home button, or just back all the way out to it, my home screen seems to jump around and my wallpaper appears to resize itself a few times. The soft keys will appear, disappear, and reappear again causing the whole screen to make a kind of up/down shuffle. It also does this when turning on the screen.
It's more annoying than an actual problem, I could just stick with the stock launcher, but I'm not a fan of the icons/folders. I'm not sure if this is the home screen redraw I keep seeing people talk about or what. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Right now I'm using Apex and have it set to stay in memory. Thought that might help, but no.
