Just curious, as that is why I am not putting the latest FreshToast v1 on my phone - I use the camera every day...
So, are there any overclocked ROMs with the camera?? That would be great!

OK, so I am supposed to read 10,000 pages of random comments about the custom ROMs instead of asking?
I have searched by the way, and found no definitive answer. If it's obvious and you know the answer, why not post "no" or "yes" instead of the wise-ass reply?
And if the answer is not obvious - well, that's why I posed the question.

WOW! That must be new.... there is a search on here?
putting it simply, if there was an overclocked rom with working camera, everyone would copy that and have the same thing. then it would be easy to find one. did you see any roms on the front page with working camera and overclock?
ill hijack this thread...id like to see a stable 2.1 rom with everything working but stripped of sense totally, can it happen?
Only if you run a 1.5 rom.
I released a modified boot.img and wlan.ko that you can patch gumbo 1.5c rom with.
you can find it here http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-hero-roms-hacks/10138-gumbo-1-5c-overclock.html
I made it for my own personal use and just put it out there for anyone who might want it. All I did was apply the patch to the boot.img from gumbo 1.5c tweaker edition then flashed it to my phone. I was already running gumbo 1.5c tweaker edition so it has only been tested to work flashed over that.
It most likely would flash just fine over any 1.5 rom, but it will add gumbos custom low memory killer and a script that modifies the cpu scaling. If you use it you can't use setcpu. The rom already does what setcpu does.
If you do want it, flash at your own risk, and make sure to backup first.
I could release an overclocked 1.5 kernel that does not use gumbo, or is based off another rom if there is any demand for it, but I think with 2.1 around the corner, and so many almost fully functional 2.1 roms out there, the only people that would even be interested are those who can't run a 2.1 rom due to audio loss issues. that is not too many.
I heard the iAndroid 4G was found left in a bar incognito... I want one!

id buy a "cough" iphone if it were running a fully working port of android.
no, it won't happen till htc releases the .29 kernel source. though you could overclock and have it on 1.5 working, i'm pretty sure.
and for you guys who keep telling him to search, at least give him an answer. i understand how anoying it is to see all these threads... but really. at least still help out.

im pretty sure pancake 1.5 is already tweaked with gbhil's custom kernel. you can also use autokiller on extreme mode and make that rom fly!
im running it and i love it, best rom ive used so far.

I compiled the oc patch into a 1.5 boot.img based off of gumbo 1.5c tweaker. Post #9 in this thread!
I am getting similar benchmarks as a OC 2.1 rom w/o JIT.
3.1 MFLOPS on linpack
28-29 fps on neocore not killing any tasks
6535 ms on benchmark Pi.
Stock 1.5 rom was
26 fps with all tasks killed
2.36 MFLOPs linpack
10635 ms benchmark pi
Thanks for the info obelisk, justin and obchaos.
Now, was that so hard? ;-)
For the rest of you, just because the search function does not yield an answer does not mean the answer is not out there, now does it?
I had better not see any of you ever posting a question on here ;-)
In any case, I remember 2.1 did not have the camera working for a while, then someone fixed it, right? So it seems that this is not a crazy question to ask.

i dunno about overclocked ones. you could use autokiller off the market to free up a ton of ram. i know setcpu does not work on 2.1
What are the odds that we can get this working on the Droid X? That benchmark speaks for itself. Input?
Holy crap!! Is that benchmark for show? Or is performance really boosted?
Supposedly really boosted. Now imagine overclocked. I'm just as excited.

Odds seem bad. I am not an expert by any means but glancing at one of the tutorials it requires a kernel that supports data2EXT. I'm going to guess that it won't be possible without a custom kernel.
I hope I am wrong though
I was under the impression that quadrant scores can be rigged, or not have real world value, and shouldn't be a standard for testing.
There are oc'd x screenshots of 27+, but some roms score low, yet perform very fast for real world usage.

Actually flashing custom kernels on the droid x is possible right now. Pay attention to matts epic rom and the rom group CVPCS.

I have yet to hear anything about custom kernels being being booted! And that post to droid2169 is more than likely about his samsung rom he has been working on. Matt is making an AOSP rom based on the work done by cvpcs work but neither of those roms use a custom rom...

The source roms currently in development use the moto kernel. If they were able to load custom kernels, they'd have been completed months ago.
The DJ05 reference is to Drod's fascinate project.
In other words, no custom kernels.
I was thinking of this thread from a few days back. After going through it again your right he was not able to get a custom rom loaded. Duh moment on my part. Did moto ever release the source code to the kernel? If so, using that hijack method it should be theoretically possible to load a custom kernel.

I believe he talking about the Fascinate there and he is developing for it too.
Custom kernels are not possible on the DX. There have been custom kernels loaded via kexec (google it if you're not sure what it does) but you lose all data and service connection.
Someone could probably port this over and implement it as a kernel extension.

According to Cyanogen (I think it was him that tweeted it), it's not worth it anyways. Via twitter he stated it's just another quadrant inflamation.

I thought it might be, although the desire devs swear by it. Maybe they see a performance increase because their phones are outdated or something like that.
There's a reason Cyanogen isn't going to support and I'm sure it's a good reason.

Your will probably get more responses if you read up on myns board and ask your question over there, since the vast majority of the responses are from those who use that rom. Good luck

Both are great rims. You can't go wrong with either
Sent from my Evo while i should be working
OK thanks guys.
Myn's should be fine with that kernel, but how well a kernel/ROM combo works varies from phone to phone. Just try it out and if it doesn't play nice, try an older version or play around with havs more/ havs less, etc. Or you could try Ziggy's kernels. Just depends on what works for you.
As far as MikFroyo, it's one of my fav sense ROMs. Very nice and everything should work.
Awhile ago I rooted my phone and played with a few ROMs. I was using Superclean 2.0 (I think), and PWGB to name a couple. Recently I went and tried SuperClean3 v.5 and it didn't go so well. Not to fault SC3, it was lovely until I tried to reinstall my apps from Titanium Backup. Anyway because of the difficulties I went back to stock, and OTA updated to Verizon's 2.3.5.
Now I am wondering why I Rooted in the first place. I swear my battery lasts longer and I have learned to ignore the bloatware. I originally rooted to get rid of the bloatware because I thought it was slowing down my phone. Maybe it's because I am using Verizon's Gingerbread vs. Verizon's Eclair, but it seems to be a lot better. There are some shiny new phones out there and I will up on my contract soon, but I don't see anything that makes me want to get rid of my Fascinate. The Razr is cool, Galaxy SII is cool, and the new Nexus is Cool, but I think I'll keep my Fascinate.
Don't give up until you've tried some of the other ROMs, kernels and themes here... Performance is only one potential benefit to rooting. Better customization and functionality are the best benefits imo. For starters, why not try Superclean 3 V0.5 with the TW4 addons nitsuj17 posted in the development section, along with comradesven's KGB kernel (of course, if Soviet paratroopers invade a certain Colorado High School as a result, nitsuj17 said you could blame him).
Nitsuj17 also will eventually post a new version of TSM Resurrection in which you can really customize your phone and find functionality you never knew was there. I personally use TSM Pool Party, an excellent AOSP ROM by the same team that makes Resurrection for TouchWiz. It's just one of many different ROMs you can try to unlock your phone's potential. There is also PWGB, which I see you're familiar with, and GeeWiz which I understand brings a more stock experience. Cyanogenmod 7.1 is probably the most popular Android ROM of them all, and MIUI offers a very unique user experience, and all of these can be found here. As for my initial suggestion, the KGB kernel I mentioned might pick up your phone's performance if you go back to Superclean 3.

Edit: Lol, nevermind I didnt realize it could be in ROM manager, I was checking at Rootzwiki. Cant confirm though cause ROM manager is detecting my fascinate as a epic4g or a i9000 on SC 0.5 when confirming to flash CWR and don't want to chance borking anything. How is though droidstyle? Is it beta or still alpha stage?

when you restored your apps did you also restore data? If so, that would likely be the source of the "difficulties". Just a hunch since you weren't real specific about difficulties. If you were coming from froyo or eclair to GB restoring data with apps would most certainly make life hell.

Well Jt is not really advertising the latest release, but if you look thru the last 2 pages or so in the alphalulz thread on rootz, you will see his "stealthmode" post of a new release and patch with pull down menu widgets. Camcorder, mms send still are broke, but alot of tweaks have been done. I can now run a live wallpaper and the launcher is smoother than v3 was with a regular wallpaper. Launcher settings aew enabled, home screen rotates, galaxy s settings work for controlling bln, usb mass storage woeks and a few other things im missing. But its a daily driver for sure....very smooth now. Quadrant around 2200 compared to 1800 before for me. So the hardware acceleration must be tweaked in some aswell.

im still skeptical about moving on to ICS for the vibrant just bc i need a phone that works 100% correctly all the time... so im still on froyo.
currently running bionix fishman mod final2 w/ bali-x @ 1.2ghz
essentially froyo tweaked in many ways w/ the appwidgetpicker
along with the miui camera, s.gps2 for gps fix, setcpu, and bln
is anyone else flashing any additional necessary files when they flash their roms??

Fishman is good. My needs are different. I need a Rom that is atleast 2.2.1. So the capacitive buttons dont blind me on each screen press. I'd recommend ultimate rom or biwinning with the sense or sgs2 theme. I also use Bali undervolt kernel. If you haven't already test out the modems for your area. For instance for me its KB1.

I was on ICS Passion and 100% functionality is a stretch. Browsing through the thread reveals that damn near everyone else has problems too. I have issue with these devs that claim everything works when it's clearly a lie.
I'm using Fishman's 2.2 rom right now. No need to flash any other files for my needs. So far it's been pretty good.

CM9's 16B is so functional that I put it on my Dad's phone, and he says it's running much better than it did before on Bionix. The only issue he and I have been having is the GPS, which never has worked from the beginning for us anyways, and very minor things (like the menu for toggle widgets is called lockscreens or something).
ICS is pretty awesome. You may want to give it a shot... I recommend the Icy Glitch kernel to go with CM9.

when you say never worked, do you mean it as GPS ideally should? or even to the low standards of how the vibrant's GPS is supposed to work?
personally since everything works 100% as best as it possibly can right now on my vibrant with bionix fishman mod without a hardware gps fix, i'm very reluctant to move onto ICS if the GPS wont even lock within around 30 secs or so like i can get it to do with froyo especially if it is something i need eventually
minor things like menu names i can definitely deal with, but if froyo's GPS works better overall compared to an ICS rom, i see absolutely no reason to make the switch with this phone. if i need ICS that badly, i will get a new phone
