Just curious, as that is why I am not putting the latest FreshToast v1 on my phone - I use the camera every day...
So, are there any overclocked ROMs with the camera?? That would be great!

OK, so I am supposed to read 10,000 pages of random comments about the custom ROMs instead of asking?
I have searched by the way, and found no definitive answer. If it's obvious and you know the answer, why not post "no" or "yes" instead of the wise-ass reply?
And if the answer is not obvious - well, that's why I posed the question.

WOW! That must be new.... there is a search on here?
putting it simply, if there was an overclocked rom with working camera, everyone would copy that and have the same thing. then it would be easy to find one. did you see any roms on the front page with working camera and overclock?
ill hijack this thread...id like to see a stable 2.1 rom with everything working but stripped of sense totally, can it happen?
Only if you run a 1.5 rom.
I released a modified boot.img and wlan.ko that you can patch gumbo 1.5c rom with.
you can find it here http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-hero-roms-hacks/10138-gumbo-1-5c-overclock.html
I made it for my own personal use and just put it out there for anyone who might want it. All I did was apply the patch to the boot.img from gumbo 1.5c tweaker edition then flashed it to my phone. I was already running gumbo 1.5c tweaker edition so it has only been tested to work flashed over that.
It most likely would flash just fine over any 1.5 rom, but it will add gumbos custom low memory killer and a script that modifies the cpu scaling. If you use it you can't use setcpu. The rom already does what setcpu does.
If you do want it, flash at your own risk, and make sure to backup first.
I could release an overclocked 1.5 kernel that does not use gumbo, or is based off another rom if there is any demand for it, but I think with 2.1 around the corner, and so many almost fully functional 2.1 roms out there, the only people that would even be interested are those who can't run a 2.1 rom due to audio loss issues. that is not too many.
I heard the iAndroid 4G was found left in a bar incognito... I want one!

id buy a "cough" iphone if it were running a fully working port of android.
no, it won't happen till htc releases the .29 kernel source. though you could overclock and have it on 1.5 working, i'm pretty sure.
and for you guys who keep telling him to search, at least give him an answer. i understand how anoying it is to see all these threads... but really. at least still help out.

im pretty sure pancake 1.5 is already tweaked with gbhil's custom kernel. you can also use autokiller on extreme mode and make that rom fly!
im running it and i love it, best rom ive used so far.

I compiled the oc patch into a 1.5 boot.img based off of gumbo 1.5c tweaker. Post #9 in this thread!
I am getting similar benchmarks as a OC 2.1 rom w/o JIT.
3.1 MFLOPS on linpack
28-29 fps on neocore not killing any tasks
6535 ms on benchmark Pi.
Stock 1.5 rom was
26 fps with all tasks killed
2.36 MFLOPs linpack
10635 ms benchmark pi
Thanks for the info obelisk, justin and obchaos.
Now, was that so hard? ;-)
For the rest of you, just because the search function does not yield an answer does not mean the answer is not out there, now does it?
I had better not see any of you ever posting a question on here ;-)
In any case, I remember 2.1 did not have the camera working for a while, then someone fixed it, right? So it seems that this is not a crazy question to ask.

i dunno about overclocked ones. you could use autokiller off the market to free up a ton of ram. i know setcpu does not work on 2.1
I've been browsing around the site lately on which roms are good, which kernels to use, etc. and still I'm a little confused.
I'm pretty new to Droid phones and this is my first. I've rooted my finances Droid 2 just for custom themes, but for my phone I want a little more. Anyone have any suggestions on Roman and kernels to use?
I like the SenseUI, so I'm not really looking to change that, just wanna get more battery life and have remove some of the bloat ware like Skype.

I would recommend Myn's Warm Two Point Two RLS4, or SkyRaider 3.3.3 (or 3.3.4 if you don't want OTA updates ever again). Quality roms right there. If you're going to use Myn's rom, I wouldn't change the kernel that came with it. Runs good for me. For SkyRaider, I would recommend KingKlicks BFS6 kernel, that also ran good for me. To remove bloatware, you can buy root explorer and delete the .apks you don't want, or buy Titanium Backup and uninstall whatever you want. Not sure if you can do that without buying it though, but I would recommend buying it anyways to support the dev. Theres also a way to delete whatever app you want from adb, but I'm not exactly sure how to do that. I believe its rm system/app/whateveryouwant.apk, after you enter su, but I'm not certain. I'm sure a quick Google search would help straighten that out. I hope I helped ya out

I'm running Ziggys kernel made just for RLS4, nice and smooth like butter. I also tried HTCs .17 kernel, but that was on SkyRaider. I seemed to get better battery with Kings BFS6. I'm considering trying chads kernel cause, well, why not? Lol

Speaking of Unrevoked....I dunno if it's just me, but when I try to go to their twitter, it's not showing anymore, but just shows some Blogger site...looks like Twitter got hacked to me. Anyone else see it? Nevermind, found the problem...
Sorry for the double post. Didn't want to re-edit my previous post, as I finally got impatiant with waiting and sucessfully downgraded my SLCD DInc and rooted.
I think I'm going to give Virtous ROM and Kernel a try with SetCPU. I might go wiht Chads Kernel and SkyRaider 3.3.4 eventually, but I figure I'd start out with something more suble with Virtous before going into more modified ROMs and Kernels....at least untill I learn more about it all.
Another question though. What is the benefit of changing the radio, if any? I know that if you flash the wrong one, then you end up with a nice expensive mp3 player that you can't use as a phone, but other than revision numbers, whats the difference with modified radios?

kernels can be subjective not all electronic componets are not equal, so some people get better results with agggressive HAVS and some get better with not HAVS and so forth.
Best way to do is try try different variants of types, and always nandroid before flashing. Also CFS kernels are typically for SEnse based ROMS and BFS are reserved for AOSP
Check out the Snap Kernel, that's supposed to be pretty good with CM. I agree with BrianDigital too, every evo is different. Some peoples EVO will do well with a kernel that someone else's did poorly with. Just try different ones, do a lot of reading, and find the ones that you like the most.
ok thanks guys is there a site that tell me which kernals support which roms?

it will be under the android development sub section of the our evo forums.
The header for the thread should state its a kernal and what varient it is. if your really unsure there is alot of text in there just make sure it is for either a sense based rom or AOSP and backup before flashing. I have flashed tons of them without reading the whole opening post but YMMV

i have found the kernel that ships with CM6 is one of the best, followed by Zendroid 1.0.2 BFS-AVS, each kernel can have different effects on different devices, just make sure whatever kernel you try is for AOSP based roms.
also, watch out for the kernels with SBC (battery charging mod) built in, there are reports of battery issues. just something to keep in mind. some people are ok and some people are having their battery overheat.
I have been looking into 2.3 Rom and there are few out there as of today that include gingerbread. I am not sure which is best, what would be recommended by users experience.
I did take a look at the Wiki Page about roms and browsed through the pages.
I would like to get some feedback from you guys that already updated their roms to what would you recommend and pros and cons that you found.
Thank you
Cyanogenmod 7 is the undisputable best. No other ROM will work as flawlessy. A manufacturer could not have written a better ROM. It's perfect in every aspect. If it's your first time messing with ROMs then I would suggest this one because otherwise you will have issues with other ROMs. Besides every function works for CM7. GPS, camera, 4g, etc...
Deck's or Salvage mod are the way to go.

Depends on your preference. Sense or aosp? A lot of them still have some bugs but if you search the forums you can find fixes. Just make sure to make a backup before you flash! What may work great for you might not for someone else due to different hardware and what not. Trial and error is the only way!

if you like to tinker and update and check in on responses about issues on a daily basis, a AOSP rom like cm7 is the way to go.

Its not drastic. If at all. Only because it is, essentially, CM7 minus some 'system bloat.' Don't believe the night and day hype.

I've exclusively used CM7 for quite some time now...just switched over to evodeck and it's been a flawless experience. CM7 has given me random issues here and there. If someone asked me which one I would recommend between the two? evodeck for sure as of now. You also get 2.3.4 with evodeck instead of 2.3.3 with CM7.

if that was the case you would see stable releases once in a blue moon.
im running UD ROM which is a variant of CM7. i got most things operational but get glitches every now and then, but i know my way enough to figure it out so it dont efffect me much... but for someone inquiring about flashing AOSP i was just voicing my opinion and merely stating that if you are the type to get involved and join in to discuss what can help with the advancement of CM and AOSP, as pros and cons as asked by OP...

My aosp daily is Kings out of this world and my daily sense is Evolvedrom shifted. I second JRE77 though. My phone doesn't like certain roms that work great on another phone. Just use RA recovery, have a good working backup, wipe everything and flash away. You'll find one. Half the fun of being rooted is trying a bunch a different roms. Lord knows I have and still do even though I have my daily drivers
If your new to roms I would try CM7 first. I personally prefer myn's stuff because I like sense better.

I already have Cyanogen on my little old G ( version 6 ) And it looks pretty cool.
Any suggestion? i want a stable ROM where i can Install the apps without problems, or having any kinda of signal problem, or networks ( g, 3G, HSPA) problems
Thanks for your Suggestions!
Daniel
If you like sense, evil d's virtuous fusion. I use to hate sense roms but I've been rockin it as a d'd for a while now. Battery life was horrible at first but with faux's low voltage kernel and juice defender, I've gotten surprisingly good battery life. Sense 3.0 features are elegant and functional. Way faster and stable than any other sense roms I used.
I use royal ginger for aosp Rom. Phenomenal battery life speed and stability.

The point was people can give opinions, but you won't know what works for you until you try it yourself. He/she can listen to a suggestion just to found out they don't like it and flash another.
^^ That should have been obvious without me having to elaborate.
I switched to meXdroid a couple days ago and love it. It's really fast, battery is good looks great and everything works ( except your upside down in the front facing camera) but I can live with that. You can also download it through Rom Manager
