I'd try using the official Yahoo e-mail application in the Android Market. If you don't want to use that try using your gmail account settings as the outgoing server.

yahoo mail doesnt support pop access unless you have signed up for yahoo plus.
the yahoo mail app in the marketplace works pretty well .
one thing that sucks about the regular mail app is that you can't search emails which is a major omission in my opinion.

I'd rather have everything in one app. I know when i was using Samsung Vibrant it was possible by setting up manuelly

it worked on my iphone as well but I don't think it was pop based..

ive discovered a new backdoor method after a bit of web searching. basically if you change your account settings in yahoo mail settings to say you are yahoo asia (not usa) then pop forwarding becomes configurable even though you don't have a plus account.
worked well for me. it's under account settings, set language, site, time zone.

Are you talking about Gmail or some other email provider?
If other than Gmail then try setting the SMTP server port to 587 instead of the default of 25.
Joe
Sounds like you need to check the SMTP server. Make sure it's appropriate for the ISP you're using or make sure that your email provider supports remote SMTP.

[Q] Using Mobile Me on the Arc

Loving my new Arc, much more fun than the iphone4
One issue though is using my Apple Mobile Me email account - this account is my main personal email account so I need to access it from the Arc.
Does anyone have the correct Incoming & Outgoing servers setting for this on the Arc..
I can receive emails but cant send? I get a "Connection error" message when trying to send..
I am using these setting under IMAP
Incoming Server
mail.mac.com
Port 994
username: your email
Pass:
Check Use secure connection
Outgoing server
smtp.mac.com
port 25
dont check use secure connection
Tks
I do not if it is always true, it was in the past.
Some operators force you to use their smtp server and not yours.

Are you trying to enter the pop and imap settings? Only use the pop and smtp settings...not the imap.
When my school went to live I set mine up with exchange. I emailed the I.T. people and they told me what I needed

Not sure what are the automatic settings, but I have the following:

Works for me

Default email app - server unavailable while on wifi

I got 3 email accounts under the default email app
1 exchange
1 gmail (imap) i like everything in 1 app.
1 other (imap)
Both the imap give "server unavailable" when i reconnect to the same wifi point where I added them. I also can't re-add them anymore. If I use 4G it always works. The exchange account always works on wifi and 4G.
The gmail account is added through the wizard which redirects to a google login during setup. So there can't be a wrong setting.
Server: imap.gmail.com
Type: imap4 (cannot be changed)
Security: SSL
Port: 993
