Hotmail / MSN POP3 settings

It seems that this is a little known fact that msn / Hotmail pop3 access can be gained using these settings.
I find that K9 Mail works better than the standard email app.
Incoming:
Username: [email protected]
Password: your password
POP server: pop3.live.com
Port: 995
Security type: SSL (always)
Outgoing:
SMTP server: smtp.live.com
Port: 25 / 587
Security type: TLS (always)
Username: [email protected]
Password: your password
When i first set an account up it brings back some blank mail, which i delete after that it works fine.

Saved just in case
not sure if this still works but back in december you could get your existing hotmail.com account linked by changing your location to Australia and using default settings.
I just set it up as an account to import from on my GMail and its working great so far. Over 10k messages imported and now I have a decent junk mail filter and can see when I get an email in a timely fashion rather than having to remember to login to hotmail every once in a while.
i'm in US..it worked good. thanx for tip
Thread revival! I've put in the above settings but my phone doesn't seem to want to connect with the hotmail account. Yet its accepted the settings. I go to launch the mail app, the little refresh icon spins but no emails come up (even though I know I have unread emails waiting for me). Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Just had the same issue with my Hotmail.co.uk in K9, everything had been working up until the last couple of days, no changes had been made.
I had tried re-entering the fetching mail details, which it accepted, but still no mail was being fetched.
I managed to fix it by:
- From the account summary page, tap & hold on the account
- Choose 'Advanced'
- Choose 'Recreate data (last resort)'
NOTE: This will wipe any existing mails from the chosen K9 account & recreate the account profile.
All my emails then came flooding in
works!!! thanx

[Working settings] Yahoo Mail + Hotmail IMAP settings / Froyo 2.2 unified email inbox

Hi guys,
It took a lot of forums research in order to find a solution to working Yahoo Mail in the unified inbox for Android Froyo 2.2. This is tested and 100% working, both over WIFI & 3G.
If you want to have imap yahoo mail in Froyo, these are the settings:
Incoming settings:
IMAP Server: android.imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 993
Security type: SSL
IMAP Path prefix: [leave this blank]
Outgoing settings:
SMTP Server: android.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 465
Security type: SSL
Make sure the box is ticked for 'Require sign-in'
Also, if you use the default setup for your hotmail account you will not be getting push email or IMAP, just POP3 email which is annoying for some people.
In order to get true push email + IMAP for HOTMAIL use this settings:
Incoming settings:
Enter your email account and password
Do no hit next, instead click Manual Setup
Chose Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
In the Domain\Username field: delete everything and enter your email address
In the Server field: enter m.hotmail.com
Keep the box ticked for 'Use secure connection (SSL)' and keep the box unticked for 'Accept all SSL certificates'
Hit Next

Anyone know how to add Yahoo email on "Email" app

Does anybody know how to add Yahoo email account default email app??? Ive tried manuel way but still no luck.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I'd try using the official Yahoo e-mail application in the Android Market. If you don't want to use that try using your gmail account settings as the outgoing server.
yahoo mail doesnt support pop access unless you have signed up for yahoo plus.
the yahoo mail app in the marketplace works pretty well .
one thing that sucks about the regular mail app is that you can't search emails which is a major omission in my opinion.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I'd rather have everything in one app. I know when i was using Samsung Vibrant it was possible by setting up manuelly

it worked on my iphone as well but I don't think it was pop based..

ive discovered a new backdoor method after a bit of web searching. basically if you change your account settings in yahoo mail settings to say you are yahoo asia (not usa) then pop forwarding becomes configurable even though you don't have a plus account.
worked well for me. it's under account settings, set language, site, time zone.

Outlook.com by Microsoft and Nexus7

Hey guys just started testing an email addy @outlook.com
Question: How do I set it up with my nexus 7? I read it uses exchange server. So I go to E-mail enter in my username/pw and it takes me to the account setup screen. And when I click next again it keeps saying "Username or password incorrect."
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Have a look at this.
Try to set it up as an Exchange account with the following settings;
Domain\Username: [email protected]
Password: ********
Server: snt-m.hotmail.com
This worked for me, however I migrated my account from hotmail to outlook, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

for anyone else struggling, as the link says , go to Advanced settings and...
"Change the Server Address from m.hotmail.com to blu-m.hotmail.com, dub-m.hotmail.com, stn.hotmail.com, bay-m.hotmail.com or snt-m.hotmail.com"
TIP: If you want to know which server to use (as it takes a couple of minutes for each to fail), log into your hotmail webmail in a browser and once you are in your inbox, look at the URL in the address bar.
If it looks like "https://snt123.mail.live.com/default.aspx?rru=inbox" then use snt-m.hotmail.com
If it looks like "https://blu123.mail.live.com/default.aspx?rru=inbox" then use blu-m.hotmail.com
etc etc

Set up outlook in the android default email app?

Has anyone had success trying to set up their outlook account with the stock email app ? How did you do it
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
By outlook do you mean exchange account? If so you need to open outlook and edit accounts. Copy settings into the mail account setup fields on N4. Its pretty straight forward.

By outlook i mean the "new" service microsoft rolled out as the sucessor of hotmail, I dont know if outlook its exchange, it should be since microsoft made it right? or maybe imap?
In the email app, enter your username/password, select exchange, and then on your comp log into your outlook account, then on the top right corner select options, then select 'see all options.'
Once you're there select 'Settings for POP, IMAP, and SMTP access' a little window should pop up.
Back on the phone. What you do is enter your email again where it says username and password.
On the server blank field copy the server under 'pop setting' in the little window.
Then hit next and follow the directions after.
Shouldn't even need to do that. Once you type in your email address it should auto populate just like if you do an @live.com or @Hotmail.com. That's the autodiscover service on an Exchange server which is usually at https://autodiscover.outlook.com (or.live.com or whatever).
I fill out with my outlook address , then select exchange, and on the next screen it auto populates but when i press next it says username or password incorrect, and i'm sure its the right password :/

You mean in outlook choose more mail settings ? once im there there's no "Settings for POP, IMAP, and SMTP access" , are you talking about the microsoft outlook app? im talking about the outlook website, i dont use the app on my computer
I think what you are looking for is here:

I only put exchange server and on server field I had to manually add mail. (at the beginning)

Don't manually click manual setup, just click next and the email client will run off to the autodiscovery server and get the proper settings.
I haven't tested it with Outlook.com emails but with Live.com it works just fine.
if you do manual it should be:
\[email protected]
password
the server can be a few different ones but generally m.hotmail.com
SSL should be enabled.
I put my username / password then exchange server, then it goes:
domain/user
server
(here I added at the beginning "mail.")

just do add account, fill in your account and password then click next. don't check manual.. it'll sort itself out. I did that just now with my hotmail account and it found the settings itself and just went ahead and set it up. don't choose exchange or corporate. just choose new account.

Maybe it works automatically for hotmail but not for outlook. trust me im not choosing manual settings i just fill out my mail and password and press continue and then it asks me which type of account it is :crying:

There's no "options" just the settings icon and then when i press it, all that resembles see all options is "more mail settings" and inside "more mail settings" there's no "'Settings for POP, IMAP, and SMTP access'" option
hmm that is weird. I just found this page: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/outlook-to-go#1TC=t1 and under android it has either.. get the hotmail app or visit the website. that doesn't seem to suggest there are some settings does it? weird. I hope it is supported natively as that sucks if not.
not a heck of a lot of help from me on this sorry, but good luck.. sure there must be a work around
I set it up the following way by manual:
Domain\Username: \[email protected]
Password: obvious
Server: col-m.hotmail.com
Use secure connection (SSL): Mark
Accept all SSL certificates: Not marked
Client certificate: None
Port: 443
For an MSN account which I used with my own domain (not live.com, hotmail.com or outlook.com email)

Thanks, this worked for me also.
Update: It worked on my Motorola razr xt910, running Android 4.0.4, but the setup isn't working on my Cube U9GT2 tablet running Android 4.1.1. I tried most everything else suggested here on the Cube, and nothing has worked so far. I don't know how significant the ICS vs JB is, but the problem also could be related to the obscure Renegade rom I am running on the Cube tablet.
These also work fine with an outlook.com address...

Why has no one answered the question directly yet? As from what I've played with, I can't figure how to make it the default mail app on your phone. It would be nice to be able to use one, easy mail service for ALL your emails rather than the stock email service, gmail, ymail app, and be limited in those apps. I know what you're saying, but it doesn't sound like anyone else in the comment thread does.
