Here's a link that explains the differences, but basically DesireHD is almost exactly like the HD2...if has a 4.3" screen and similar body style. The DesireZ has a 3.7" screen and a slide out keyboard. Both Android versions are basically the same, though. At least in my experience with the MDJ DesireHD and the dandiest DesireZ builds, I see no difference other than the dandiest build being faster and smoother and almost perfect.
DesireHD vs. DesireZ

what about landscape Sense? does Desire Z have it?

dan's desire z build is faster coz its overclocked.
you'll need to do a side by side comparison on both being overclocked to the same speed to really see.
that being said,i've tried dan's build.its smooth and faster.less glitchy.but i didn't overclock mdj's DHD build,so i cannot say for sure if it will be the same on the same clockspeed.

Yes it does have landscape sense with g sensor

Personal experience: ced's Desire HD2's keyboard has directional buttons, whereas dan's Desire Z counterpart hasn't got those...

Well....maybe you want to specify in a little bit more details, what your requirements are.
Do you need a keyboard, do you want performance, does size matter, etc...?

I dont like desire Z due to its mechanical design for the flip..its look like easy to break after u use to flip it many time..i use to have N95 nokia which flip type..after 1 year use it, the reben wiring below display had tear off..even after change new reben, its only can last for 6 month for its to tear off again..twice change reben same problem..that reason i dont like mechanical design..i now use dhd n really satistify with it

desire z
pros
better screen not so washed out
can overclock to1.9ghz but i think dhd can do that in no time
better battery life ( i think)
Cons
hinge problem although not everyone is having this problem
desire HD
Pros
bigge screen
more popular than desire z in my opinion so will have more custom roms
Cons
washed out screen
battery life

Are you sure about the desire Z being overclocked to 1.9ghz as it has only got a 800mhz processor to start with instead of the 1ghz in the dhd?
Its true,
The difference is noone has tried to push the DHD into "dangerous" voltages yet.
Probably due to the price.
Amazing!! I wouldnt have thought that was possible on the face of it!
Tell ya what, it looks like as ones get a bit more adventurous with the dhd we will have a lot to look forward to development and overclocking wise!
I have an HD but played with the Z keyboard for a short time and was really impressed with it. The best physical keyboard I have ever used on a smartphone. It made me realise the limitations of soft keyboards - even the excellent soft keyboard on the HD. It looked a nice piece of kit too. Can't comment on its battery but I can confirm that the HD's battery is utter ****e.

Better Android ROM with sense??

I'm currently running the desire hd Rom on my hd2. It's CMYLXGO's Desire HD NAND. I liked it, but now it seems sluggish and unstable. It freezes a lot and runs very slow. Any ideas on a better ROM with the Sense feature? It would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
IMO CMYLXGO's roms are the best, sorry really can't speak for any others...
If you want a fast sense rom, go with desire builds or desire z builds. Both are faster but desire is fastest of them all, comparable to even the speed of non sense builds.
Thanks to you both, I do like the desire builds, I'll try some z builds.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
RAFDROID HD best
dude, there is certainly something wrong with you're installation...CMYLXGO's builds are one of the smoothest build w/ full desire HD Sense

Opinion on your thoughts

I want to know whats your opinion is on the most stable, reliable and speedy Nand ROM for the HD2?
This is for my sisters phone. Currently she's running CoreDroid 1.5 and it reboots like crazy. Not very stable yet. Any help would be appreciated. Its driving her nuts lol.
ATT Inspire 4G/Desire HD
CoreDroid V4.6 HD
ive never had any issues with rafpigna or imilkas hd builds
If she does not need cutting edge (I mean gingerbread rom), then I had very good experience with Frankinstine 1.8 (it's based on Desire rom, NOT Desire HD). It's fast, stable and low battery drain.
If she needs rom based on Desire HD's then maybe Rafpigna's.
since i used JDMS the first time, i never changed to another dev.
try The Ultimate Droid 3.1.x, those roms are crazy
Sent from my HD2.
Why don't you try a CM7 ROM? They're definitely the fastest and most stable IMO.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Thanks guys, ill give those roms a try. Mainly looking for stability and speed.
AT&T U.S. Rooted
CoreDroid v4.6 HD

Desire HD ROM?

Is there a Desire HD Rom anywhere for the G2?? I know there is a Desire S ROM.. but I would imagine that's not about the same as the HD rom?

There is absolutely no need to be a ****. Did you get this far (in your apparent superior knowledge) without ever asking a question? And have you as a human being ever asked a stupid question? Id bet money you have. And to my knowledge there is no Desire HD rom out currently. cheers!

I might be wrong here, but I thought the Desire Z and Desire HD stock ROMs were identical (from a features viewpoint). I've got the Desire Z and my friend has a Desire HD and whilst I'm now on CM7, her HD looks/feels exactly like my Z did (well a little bit quicker probably because of the bigger CPU)
They launched about the same time and were both originally the only ones which could use htcsense.com as well so realistically if you're just looking for a Sense ROM for your G2 I would just suggest Virtuous (which to me felt like the stock ROM, but a million times better) or one of the other DZ ROMs. Hope this is of some help!
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
What diff in HD rom?
Well it might be the same sense but you would still need to port it. Remember Disire Z has a keyboard and HD does not.

Desire S is Gingerbread.
there is a desire hd gingerbread sense rom, but its exactly the same as the desire s rom. no point in porting it.

So the DHD got it before the Vision did? Dammit!

Please Port this AWESOME ROM!

I was using a htc desire before moving on to the desire z a few weeks ago, the rom I used before I moved to the desire z is Runnymede by Sebastian15, This rom is pretty awesome, it actually runs as good or better then any sense 3.5 roms ever made for the desire z.
Desire - 1.2ghz
Desire Z - 1.5Ghz
(desire z is faster)
Desire- 576 mb ram
Desire z - 512mb ram (but i think the desire z's ram is faster)
(desire z has 64 mb less ram, not a big difference)
Desire - Adreno 200
Desire Z- Adreno 205
(Big difference, desire z is much faster)
Desire- 512 mb rom
Desire Z 1.5gb rom
(No need for ext4 partition for system apps, therefore, desire z is faster)
Please port this rom as i know it will be superfast, runs great without swap, make a big impact on sense 3.5 roms for our device.

Thanks, I think the port of this rom will change how people view sense 3.5 as "smooth and fast"
all im saying is, this is hard haha, might take a while
How about a touchwiz 4.0 or miui rom (themed). I mean we already got so many sense and stock/cm7 roms. I think a change will be good. And touchwiz is a good second to sense. And if u do it thanks.
I have never heard anything good about touch wiz. I could be wrong but a lot of people on g+ loathe it.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
touchwiz? Are u serious bro? I bought the desire z cuz I don't want touchwiz. What's good bout touchwiz anyway?
plenty of great Runnymede ports for G2/Desire-Z already, such as:
Virtuous Affinity 1.48.0 based on Runnymede
BinDroid RUNMED2.5 V1.1 [Sense3.5] [Unity Kernel]
RunnyDrOiD v2.1 By PVTEAM | Ultrafast & Smooth | 2.3.5 | Sense 3.5
MikRunny v1.01 - [ Sense 3.5 | 2.3.5 | Tweaks | Odex/Deodex ]
RCMix3d Runny v4.0 [Official runnymede sense 3.5 Android 2.3.5][OC]
Vision-RunnyMede-Sense 3.5| (2.3.5) ||v1.3||

Not really "faster"........Just better.
Porting a ROM is not all that difficult. Just takes time. If you want to port it, you most likely are going to have to do it yourself as the original creator probably only has a Desire to test it out with, which is the biggest part when porting/AOSP.
woot! woot!

Lol u think this one isn't difficult? You have to make sure the HBOOT isn't touched (because the rom automatically changes it to a desire one, which would brick), make sure ext4 isn't used for sd apps, instead system is, make sure all symlinks are right, data is correctly formatted, the right libs are swapped, the architecture files are changed, then it not booting even though logcat is fine?

I meant overclocked, desire z runs 1.5ghz safely, desire 1.2ghz safely.
Desire Z - 45nm
Desire - 65nm
So our CPU is much faster then the desire's

You follow the SAME steps done in the original ROM. If it works, simple porting. If it doesnt THEN it gets intresting. But post ports have 50% of the work already done.

When a ROM is created (or ported) overclocking speeds are NEVER taken in consideration. It must work from a phone that comes out of factory.
If a modder based his ROMs on overclocked devices (hell, if any software developer based their work on overclocked devices) we would have so much incompatibility.......
infact, sorry, im not going to port it. instead, im gunna make my own rom, with similar customisations

It turns out that the reason their roms are so fast, is because they have GPU+, which means that its kind of overclocked, and results in a >21% increase in 3D performance. If we could do this too, our sense3.5 would be much better
