If, like me, you have problems while using your HD2 like a music player... Here is the solution: don't stop the phone...
What I'm telling here is simple: It seems that, when using the poweroff/sleep/red button, the phone goes into sleep a little to deeply to be able to play music. You'll have music break or just stopping at the end of the track.
My solution is to "just" lock the phone (Start => Lock) and then, in the pocket... It will sleep by it-self soon.
Another key feature I was unable to use if I "force sleep" my phone is to change the playing volume... Try by your self and tell me if it helps you too
no problem here playing music after pressing the red button to send to phone to sleep. music plays fine for hours.

Mine works also fine
Sorry for the bump but im having a different issue with the music tab, some1 might know a solution and i didnt feel like adding a new thread for something this 'small'
Well, i just today got my phone, and ive (obviouslly) been playing with it a bit, but something akward has happend, at first, when in the music tab, the side button controled the volume of the music, but now (hell idk what i did) it suddenlly changes the tracks when i press volume up/down.
(btw, did you guys get manuals? i just got a quick start wich doesnt cover half the tabs, including music tab)
I must have pushed something somewhere, but im clueless, anyone know what it could be?
I've never normally noticed any problems playing music with the phone on or in stand-by. Although when its plugged in and charging, FM radio does tend to freeze a few miliseconds every 30 seconds. But on battery power everything is just fine
don't have this problem :S
Actually, about my issue, i solved it, in a way you could say its a audio-plug-bug (like seen before in htc devices) i plugged in the headset and now its volume again, ive tried some stuff like unplugging while playing, on music or other tab, but wasnt able to reproduce yet, strange.

I've got no problems playing music and locking device. However, I have the volume key issue and the only thing that fixes it is a soft reset. I haven't been able to work out why it starts changing tracks instead of volume to start with. Anyone got any suggestions?

I had this issue just today, on top of the numerous other issues ive had. I did a soft reset and the volume buttons started behaving again.
However i noticed a different bug with the headphones. When i was listening to music on them and the phone locked, when i tried to unlock it by sliding the lock slider, i found the screen completely unresponsive. Unplug the phones and the screen responded. plug them back in, unresponsive. Maybe unplugging the phones would have solved the volume keys misbehaving as well, as it did for you. i dont think i tried that at the time.
This unit is so full of bugs, i have resigned myself to returning it overseas. A total pain at Xmas.
Man this is getting frustrating! My music player won't play any music from my microSDHC card now. It finds all of my songs, but I can only listen to about 10seconds before it locks up. I see the little circle-thingie in the left corner spinning and as soon as it stops the music player crashes.
same as above
I have the exact same problem as Toss3 above, couldn't describe it better.
It was working fine though, until i added some new folders. It always happens quite early in the song, so i tend to think that it's scanning the library in the background (the circle 'busy' animation) and it's encountering a corrupt file and is crashing (or at least a file the player considers as corrupt, because all those files work fine on my computer or iPod Classic).
So i'm really bothered, any help from you Toss3, if you find the solution, or from anybody else would be very appreciated.
This update for HTC HD2 HTC Sense enhances the stability of the music application so your enjoyment of your music is no longer interrupted by the player behaving unexpectedly.
Installation Instructions:
Note: This update is only applicable to ROM versions equal to 1.73.xxx.x, or lower.

Installed without problems. I had very few 'stability' issues with the music app to begin with, so it'll be a while before I'll be able to tell if it improved anything.
And yeah, dammit, you beat me by a minute!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=671207
what changes does this actually make, htc are always really vague saying what a patch does. does it by anychance fix the library reloading everytime
From time to time playback freezes for a few seconds - pretty rare but annoying - maybe this will be fixed.
Or maybe this is how HTC describe the annoying problem where Audio Booster does not automatically kick in when starting playback for the 1st time after a reboot?
the music player is always lag. unlike iphone player which is alot better
That's true, Music Player lags a lot... mainly after a couple of days without switching off the telephone and after an intense use of the player (2-3 hours)..
I hope this hotfix will solve those problems...
Does anyone has any feedback about it?
I wonder if there will be a hotfix for TMOUS, It lags so much i just dont even use that tab anymore

Not yet I'm afraid, but there are things you can do to help with the music tab, check out both of these threads:

Can someone post this cab, it dissapeared from HTC support site
using artemis v9 rom. 16gb card. much faster near instant load and scan of 12mb of music takes 20 secs from several minutes.
Whoooha - /WIN.
No lag (stop in music after every 10 seconds) any longer when putting device into sleep pushing power off once.
Old Work-around to push and hold power off and let it go to sleep from the screen with 'shut down' menu is now absolete.
After this fix just find your music, push play and one-hit power off to let it go to sleep and music plays perfectly.
Super upgrade - waaaaay to late - but glad its fixed!

Audio booster is still not working
As my title, the audio booster is still not working properly after this update. It seems to cut out every time there is a drop in network connectivity.
This is a great shame, because for me it prodcuces the best audio output when combined with SRS WOW.
I am using S2P until audio booster is fixed, because bass level-wise, it is the next best thing. I know it is an iphone-clone along with S2U2, but they both do what I want for this particulalar purpose, so who cares!
Maybe one of the things they have fixed is where non HTC (4-pole connector) headphones make the phone act oddly like randomly redialling the last number dialled and the volume rocker fast forwarding tracks instead of doing the volume...?
Breaks Bluetooth Audio
Hello all.
I installed this hotfix on to Artemis 8.0 ROM and it broke the streaming of music to my bluetooth headset. Tried re-pairing the headset etc. to no avail. Anyone know a quick fix to return the audio output to my BT headset?
Thanks...
Guys, it says for HTC Sense. But thoes this effect WMP at all? I never use Sense to play music. But I have seen that WMP just randomly stop playing my music etc.
Any idea?
This fix does nothing for me... i still get lag, the pauses every 20-30 seconds...
REALLY ANNOYING. Although it didnt do it before, it jsut started in the last couple days, after a hard reset. ????
Does anyone have a solid solution to this problem? i dont wanna have to go to the 3rd party program EVERY time i want to listen to music.

I have now stopped using S2U2 and S2P and now using CHT Lockscreen and HTC Music again. There is still the Audio Booster problem, but with SRS WOW and Audio Booster on "Normal" it seems to be fine. I think if you choose a setting that it different, or customised then you notice the cut out. Either way, the phone seems more stable using less third party tweaks and software.
Hello all,
Coming from an iphone 3gs, I've had a wonderful experience with the Galaxy S, thanks in large part to the XDA community - Supercurio in particular.
His EQ fix for eclair elevated the Galaxy S audio quality over the iphone 3gs (IMO) which i used as my main music player, and with Froyo the EQ problem was resolved completely.
However, for me, and for a few users as well, a very nasty bug persisted - mp3 files would skip and jitter every 2-3 minutes in every song, and this for an audiophile was unacceptable - and frustrating to the point where i had stopped using the Galaxy S as my main portable player.
Having tried a number of solutions (eliminating widgets, shifting songs to external sd, using a task-killer, bashing my head agaisnt the desk etc), only one worked to put the problem to a permanent end:
http://androidforums.com/captivate-...-playback-stock-player-samsung-captivate.html
pr0virus: "Its from the CPU throttling during playback.
I had the same problem until I noticed while looking at a system panel app that while music was playing my processor would down-clock to 200 sometimes as low as 100mhz.
Got setCPU, set the minimum it would throttle up to 400mhz, kept it on conservative and haven't had a problem. "
So there you have it - Root phone, Install setCPU, set minimum processor speed to 400 (200 works as good in my case) and voila, you have the best PMP on the market!
Also, remove weather and toggle widget as that causes the skipping too
Many thanks again to everyone involved!
I haven't really thought about this problem for awhile. I recently started using my Galaxy S as my primary music player, be it mp3, m4a or flac. The problem is that it always seems to have some issue with a song during playback (aka: a glitch). It is infrequent, but very annoying. My S9 never has an issue, nor did my Clix2. Regardless of file type, and maybe not often, but it happens.
Initial experience with Froyo (xfjp7) was good. Last night it reappeared during playback of an album. Last song and all of a sudden that brief but distracting "glitch."
Will definitely give your advice a try. Thanks,
El Mono
I have this issue with my phone as well, but not consistently.
It goes a step further, though. Half the time it starts skipping, a second later the phone will actually turn itself off. The only way to get it to turn back on is to hold the power button for a long 10 seconds.
Anyone else seen this?
Think the setCPU fix will resolve for me as well?
I've experienced this kind of glitch or lag maybe twice or three times at all with my phone, and it was because i was listening to music, using maps, youtube and internet. I put my songs on external sd card, which seems to be better. And i also use voodoo lagfix (i don't know if it changes something, but my audioplayer became much better).
Hope it helps someone!
Cheers!
@omersak i have been suffering with this problem intermittently, and it was really getting to me and ruining my morning run! after searching i realised it was wrong to blame poweramp or supercurio! i did exactly as you said, but set for 'On Demand' and 200mhz minimum. have not had A SINGLE glitch since!
excellent work! thanks so much, i highly recommend this to anyone with music glitches!
Use poweramp, u can change the buffer settings and audio is fantastic!

Hi all,
I've always felt that when playing music on my DHD that it's too quiet, when I've listened to music through my headphones I would say it's acceptable however when I've plugged my DHD into a HiFi or into my stereo in my car I could crank the volume to full control without it been deafening. I happen to find a fix yesterday by accident, I had my DHD plugged into my car stereo and the phone rang, I pulled the audio cable out and answered the phone, when I was done I put the cable back in and immediately I was like WTF just happened now, the music was much louder than what it was before I answered the phone, I would say it was about 30% louder.
I tested my theory by stopping the music and unplugging the cable, plugged the cable back in and started the music, while it was playing I opened the phone and simply dialled any random number and ended the call immediately, when it went back to the music it was most certainly much louder. I've tried it several times now and every time it makes it much louder than what it was before I make a call, I can now no longer turn the stereo full blast as it is simply too loud, just by turning it up to half way I would say it's the equivalent of what it was before when I had it turned up to the maximum.
I'm using Poweramp and I don't know if it's got anything to do with that, I will test it with the built in music player and see what it does. I originally downloaded Poweramp as I thought that the built in music player may be the problem.
i'll repet what you do and post some results... really want a louder volumen in headphones. I plugged my headphone in a Wildfire and it's incredible louder, no talking about an ipod! last week in a party i was ashamed when my friend put off his $50 cell phone and i plugged mine on stereo, so low volume....
wtf, that's true.. really don't understand what the phone turns on!! probably the same thing that volume boost turns on!!
Aha that actually works

Good news, it must be a software bug with the volume control.
works here too.. atleast on poweramp and soundcloud, didnt hear any difference on spotify

Haha! Tried it myself, and it works! Awesome!
I found using shazzam or sound hound while music was playing caused it to go louder. Seems to be when the mic is initialised. Noticed this two days ago

Interesting find.
I've noticed a couple of ROMS which suggest better audio volume by 20%.
For example this one. (Speaker Boost +20%)
So somehow, somewhere the bug or issue has been fixed or improved.

Not really, i'm using that rom right now, and what it makes is improve SPEAKER volume, not from headphone. I made my tests in Android Revolution rom and can confirm that headphone is as quiet as stock rom, and it is improved by the "call trick"!
Thanks for sharing! I was experimenting a bit, and it seems like the simplest way to boost the volume is to make a call while music is already playing. The call MUST connect though, or the volume will revert to normal levels. Tested with Winamp.
Maybe have one of the dev's ask to look into this.
If this is different from the already increased speaker volume output, it probably is a bug that can be fixed / feature that can be 'un-featured'
works fine
I had similar experience with my laptop. When listening a mp3 file, the sound coming out from my laptop seems like no effects, standard sound without bass and treble effect. Have to play a movie file first together and stop the.movie make the song hear with the effect.
I believe this issue coming from my sound driver. Using another OS in same laptop. The sound play normally with no issue.
For our Android, it's about the sound driver too?
well well, i just noticed that in the Android Revolution 4 (leaked gingerbread based), the sound is improved by default, no needing the call workaround, looks like HTC fixed the strange bug for the next version...
i just wanted to share!
edit: if someone could try to confirm it, i'll appreciate! =o)

I had the same problem, go to the Market and download "Volume Ace".
MarkieSA, you're an accident hero.
I noticed sometimes my DHD volume suddenly were loud . If I restart the phone, it will go low . I couldn't find out how to make it loud again until reading your post. I'm using PowerAmp too . I think it plays a role in this case.
Thank you for this great finding.
Really useful little trick for 2.2 users, especially for peeps using stock ROM's without the 20% boost via custom kernels. I had tried some of the volume boost type apps before rooting but all they do is invert the phase of one of the stereo channels. All this does is give you a very tinny mono output which is no use to say the least.

Then I have no idea, sorry. My other guess would be is that you're accidentally pressing the volume key in you pocket or something without realizing it. You could try factory resetting the phone. It can sometimes fox weird issued like yours.

have u check the adaptive option under the settings->sound->adapt sound?
Could it be that the adaptive sound is processing at certain point of time trying to give you the best sound that its think of?
Yes, I have experienced this under the following conditions:
-Phone just purchased, unrooted, completely stock. Playing music with PowerAmp with and without the EQ/Tone/Limit features, also happened with stock music app. The effect nearly blew out my eardrums once, but it happened several times. Music would play and very suddenly there would be a violent increase in sound, almost as if an EQ crashed. Sound went back to normal after I pressed the volume rocker in either direction. I am not so sure that this has to do with Adaptive Sound because I remember experiencing the same problem before and after i configured it. Overall, incredibly annoying and dangerous for my ears.
-Phone rooted, Viper4Android installed as a user app. The same problem happens using PowerAmp, Xenoamp and stock music app, but the increase is not so violent (not sure why, yet). Marginally tolerable, but still very annoying.
I have not found a fix yet, but still keeping an eye open.
That being said, my phone has music playing almost all day every day so I probably encounter the problem more often than others. I use earbuds, headphones and my car stereo. There is a Droid-Life.com review that mentions the issue and credits it to the phone's audio jack: http://www.droid-life.com/2013/10/01/samsung-galaxy-note-3-review/
See the subsection for Audio Jack Issues. Here is an excerpt:
"Then, after a few minutes without touching anything while at full volume, the volume just explodes and you are left deafened by the surprise volume attack."
I would be interested to see if anyone reports the problem when playing music via the phone's speaker.

[Update] Looks like this is not an isolated issue. My friend's wife also facing the same problem and she sent in to reflash the unit at Samsung Care Center and the problem just disappear. My friend told me factory reset doesn't help though.
I have exactly the same issue you have. Same XXUBMJ1 ans using the device for a month now. Unknown and just reported to Samsung and was asked to walk in to get advice.
