Notion Ink Adam - FAQ - Adam General

All,
As some of you may know the Admin of NotionInkHacks.com (Andy Smith - Me) has had the opportunity to do e-mail interviews with Rohan (CEO) of Notion Ink. The people over and notionaddicts.com started help guide on google documents with frequently asked questions about the Adam. I offered to help and suggested that we turn it into a wiki instead. This guide has tons of information about the Adam. Please check it out at
notioninkhacks.com/wiki/
Also, please keep up the good work with this community. The more of these we have the better chances for success with the Adam and future products of Notion Ink. The community that follows the device is just as important as the device itself.
Thanks,
Andy

Thoughts for IRC discussion place

A thought occurred to me here while just browsing the forums.
If it doesn't already exist, I'm wondering how many senior members as well as new members might be interested in having a place where live dialog could be done. Many a time I could see threads and posts by people looking for help or just making a simple query out of curiosity waited days or weeks before seeing a resolve or no answer at all on ones which the answer was easy. I've taken a few that looked like no answers that I was reasonably sure I was correct and posted an answer to and thusly those people probably at least if they did get a resolve went away thinking at leastsomeone was watching wanting to share knowledge and experience. Now while I know it could not replace the overall usefullness of a forum, as with a forum the answer is only a search away. Some answers could be resolved without saying "search the forum" or more degrading and sarcastic answers like "Why don't people just learn to use google to search" coming from an It support background I understand there are people that don't fully understand search engines or forums but are very good at following step by step instruction or pointing directly to a link to a post on the forum.
So my idea is a reasonably setup irc server with channels named properly to reflect the device of interest "Blue Angel" "Hermes" "Elf" "Universal" etc. where a person could go for quick explination or direction. and talk live to other members.
also a general discussion area for say windows mobile in general, or even just general rant about achievements or development feedback and idea sharing with more experienced developers who want to join in.
I don't know if this I already available as I haven't seen any that relate to this forum. But I think it would be a good resoure to both new and more senior and experienced users to have available.
Please feel free to give your feedback on this idea, but as I know how forums can be.
Please keep your feedback constructive and professional like the intelligent and respectful people I've seen so far.
Thanks
Note: yes to answer this ahead of time I'm thinking about starting up something like this or would be willing to help set it up if the owners of this forum would be interested. feel free to move this thread to a more proper section as you see fit
You are right it requires a lot

Introducing Forum Specific Mod

Hi everybody,
Let me introduce myself. I'm M_T_M , your new forum mod for the HTC Wallaby.
I've been on xda-developers for over a year now. Mostly visiting the devices I own and supporting other forums with the experince I've gathered on this great site. Maybe some of you have seen me lately in the forums helping a little.
Now, I'm happy and honored to be appointed to the HTC Wallaby forums to provide mod assistance to all of you in the best way I can to this great community.
I'm here to help you and I expect the same from all of you .
If you experience any other way of approach from members, feel free to contact me through PM, or report the post by using the "!" button in the post.
Additionally, I want to let you know that I'll be doing some forum maintenance (cleaning threads addressing an already discussed topic or an off topic, moving threads or posts to proper sections) for making it easier to all of you get the information you are seeking and keeping the forum clean.
Cheers

developers needed for an open source, non-profit project

Hi Everyone! I'm launching a non-profit organization that aims to provide big data analysis for the good of humanity rather than targeted marketing. To start with, we'll need app developers, web developers, and beta testers willing to help us with bug reports. To see what it's all about, check out the project description here - theGOODforyou.org
Contact us through the aforementioned site if you'd like to help, or subscribe to our newsletter to stay in the loop and see how it's all going.
Our github page for the current (alpha) app is here - github.com/dickmacinnis/theGOODforyou-journal
sorry for not being able to link, but as a new user here I currentlly can't make proper links.
You can ask for developers here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43215793
Good luck.

Welcome & Introduction

To all forum readers and lurkers, welcome to a new and experimental section of the forums! The PC Hardware forums are part of our expansion into a limited discussion of PC hardware for our enthusiasts and developers. So while the normal forum rules apply you may notice that things here will be slightly different and a work in progress.
Here's what you can expect in each of the forums within here:
PC Hardware Portal Article Discussion is where the portal team will be posting a new thread for each article on the category. While Disqus isn't a bad option it's also a very limited one in comparison to our forum membership - and so we'd like to try moving some of that discussion here. It also gives us the ability to give some behind-the-scenes updates and additional content that may not fit the Portal well, such as build logs and photos of projects we're working on for Portal articles.
Forum members are more than welcome to continue the discussion but new threads will only be created by us here. If you want to carry on a discussion of a different topic, we have you covered.
The PC Hardware For Linux Developers section is ideally for continuing the discussion and talking about topics near and dear to our developers' hearts. Whether you're just starting out and want to know how to build your own kernel/ROM, set up a kitchen to theme, or something more advanced... if it's about Linux this is the place to talk about it!
While the name doesn't call it out specifically it's well known that a subset of developers use Mac OS X instead - feel free to post in here too on your topics. To help clarify we ask that the prefix [OSX] be used so readers know this deals with a Mac-specific topic.
Lastly our PC Hardware General is for all other discussions under the sun and related to the topic. We're not looking to replace your go-to sites but rather foster a conversation in addition to that. And while we certainly understand that these discussions can get "heated" we ask that people treat each other with the same civility and respect as you would anywhere else on the XDA forums.
Your moderation team can be found in the upper right hand corner under "Moderators." Please feel free to contact us if there are any questions/concerns. In addition you will likely find me around here quite often - part of my job as PC Hardware Editor is to help foster those discussions. And we'll be watching to see how this develops - if we need to split this up further you may see additional forums being added or moved here to better keep the related discussions together!
Thank you for your continued time and support of XDA!
Excited...!!!
