[Q] Using ad-hoc networks on Huawei U8150 - Networking

Hi guys,
as you know, Android doesn't like ad-hoc wifi networks.
I tried out the hack suggested by blackplatipus but it doesn't work with my device http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754961
I have Huawei Ideos U8150 with Froyo 2.2.
Is there a kind developer that can tell me what I have to change into the wpa_supplicant to get it work?
I attach the original /system/bin/wpa_supplicant take into my android.
Thanks,
Andrea

Do you have the ability to edit that type of file? I have my original wpa_supplicant and a modified version that gave me access to ADHOC networks (and the market). Normally, I'll load them both into Meld and see what needed to be changed on yours, but it looks like they'd have to be decompiled and recompiled (Meld says they are binary), so I don't know where to go from there. I'd be happy to post the files though, if it would help.
Billy
EDIT - sorry, I should have made it clear... this is on a different Froyo tablet (eLocity A7).

the IDEOS U8150 use the 0.6.10 wpa_supplicant, and I have tried the 0.6.X hack but it doesn't work also.

Hello all,
I have the same device U8150 and I am really interested in connecting to ad-hoc networks, does anyone managed to make it work?
(I downloaded a patch here but since the ideos use the 0.6.10 wpa_supplicant, I guess it will not work with that patch, right?)
Thanks in advance

I do not have Huawei Ideos U8150 but I did have a similar problem with my Samsung Transform (Froyo 2.2) which also uses 0.6.10 wpa_supplicant. I used blackplatypus's wpa_supplicant modified file for 0.6.X version but it didn't work. As a test, I tried his original v0.5.x and it worked! My suggestion is to try both.

[FIX] Wifi Tether on Eclair now WORKS!

Don't think anyone has posted this yet, but we got now wireless tether on Eclair!
I can confirm that this is working (MCR 3.1), and you need of course root to tether
Instead of part 1 and 2, just download the fw_bcm4329.bin from this link (credits to seaders). You don't need to do part 5 since the file has already been renamed.
http://www.multiupload.com/XVP8WH5MZU
EDIT: For those who didn't manage to find the latest wifi tether, http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list

You guys might have noticed that we had exactly the same issue on the htc evo 4g. And
... yeah, we found a workaround for it ( issue 362 ).
It seems that the wifi-firmware is responsible for this weird behavior. This
workaround did the trick:
See: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/issues/detail?id=362#c59
So what you guys could try now:
1) Download a HTC Evo 4g system-dump (use google search - I bet you will find one)
2) Extract a file named fw_bcm4329_ap.bin (located in /system/etc/firmware)
3) Mount your sdcard
4) Create a directory named "android.tether" (without quotes)
5) Open this directory and copy fw_bcm4329_ap.bin into it.
6) Rename fw_bcm4329_ap.bin to fw_bcm4329.bin
7) Uninstall old versions of "wireless tether"
8) Install the latest 2.0.2-pre release.
If you open "Show log" you should see a log-entry (first one) similar to this
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/issues/detail?id=362#c59 here
"
Credits to the developers of the app, and seaders for uploading the fw_bcm4329.bin

Fantastic... works a treat!!!
Hallelujah, been waiting for an easy, hassle free way to tether. Amazing!
works for me too, does ad-hoc only support 11mbit or is it working in 802.11b mode for some reason? No biggie with the bandwidth avaliable via 3g but curious all the same.
Great work getting this working, have a fallback if the mifi battery dies or I don't have signal now
works thanks on rooted 121 rom

not sure but on my stock jpy it is .6.1 and i'd rather stick with a modified version of the same one.. rather than trying to guess that that is the issue if later on something isnt working.

Got myself one of those AR Drones, so keen to get this up and running
Applied the 6.1 version to my phone and it just reboots constantly, so I gave up!
Anyone got an updated version?
i use a 2.3.3 origin NS, and has rooted.
but if i put 6.1 wpa_supp to phone, it won't find any wifi for me.
so i roll back to origin.....
i searched for wap_supp, always 0.6.10, with
MD5: 0B726E45AF6E90BC442A9AF5A9642472
SHA1: 5581981584E2C64DF3471AAC1E61EAFCCAE77748
i tried to edit conf file in data/misc/wifi, no use.
so what can i do next?
wpa_suuplicant for Android 2.2.1 (Samsung Galaxy POP)
I have used the above wpa_supplicant file. It shows the available ad hoc networks but when I want to connect then it displays..."Obtaining IP address and then disconnected." Sometime it automatically turned off the wifi connection.
Please help me. I am in the middle of the sea.
Thanks in advance.

[REQ] 3.2 System Dump

There are some Galaxy Tab 10.1 floating around with 3.2 on them (i.e. Korean, some repaired ones, etc) I thought it would be helpful if we can get a system dump to the great developers on this forum. So, here is what to do:
1. Check what version you have:
Settings - About Tablet
Look for Android Version 3.2
What build number are you on?
2. If you have Android version 3.2:
Install the android SDK (developers.android.com)
Start CMD
On your tablet: Setting -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging (Check)
Connect your tablet with your pc
Let windows find your tablet
Back to cmd console: adb pull /system
The full system dump shall be in YOUR_SDK_FOLDER\tools\system
3. Post to Mega Upload, Dropbox, etc (I would suggest just providing the link to developers. i.e. ask them to PM you for the link)
Thanks!!!
Well, mine is out for service right now so if they're doing it in the U.S. I'll have it next week (I hope). I'm all over it.
I believe Task already got the dump from advocator

If so, that's a good news. Maybe we can see a 3.2 rom tomorrow.
hahaha, I would assume it would take more time than that. Can anyone else confirm this? I wouldn't mind messing around with the dump as I learn more about rom development.
T mobile US galaxy tab is released with Android 3.2 and i think it can be flashed normally to the GT-p7500 so does any one have the tmobile us tab ?

Thanks brother, but no need, Task 650 released his 3.2 rom in the development section. But for future reference, nandroid contains all your data as well as the system. A system dump only contains the system information that can be used to build a rom.

Does anyone know if the firmware is compatible with European 3G tabs? Task only has wifi firmware, so this is still interesting for the ones who have 3G tabs.
If you could check two files for me, maybe we can get the firmware from Samsung servers.
Please post the contents of:
system\CSCVersion.txt
system\csc\customer.xml only this line <SalesCode>?</SalesCode>
And from Settings > About
Baseband version and Build number.
will thatrom work with the tmobile galaxy tab 10.1? i havent found anyroms that work with the tmobile version
Hi,
There are some more thread opened about this 3.2 (P7500 / P7510) !
Don't you think we could get it with FUS ?
Can you please share HIDSWVER.
- connect tab to KIES
- With regedit check HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB\7
- share Model Name, ProductCode and HIDSWVER
Moreover, what do you think about openning a new thread where everybody share Model Name, ProductCode and HIDSWVER ?

I did try this yesterday, I got the required information from Tasks P7510jkkj1 Rom but it didn't find anything on Samsung servers. So either Task changed the information in Rom or this firmware is not on Samsung servers.
There reportedly is also a P7500 dump, but the source doesn't want to share it with me. I also asked for the required information but he didn't want to share that either.
Overcome Rom developer has this dump also, but he also doesn't want to share it. I guess they just want to be the first ones who release it, to get all the fame, that's why they don't want to share it, so we just have to wait.

[Q] Help porting some rom...

Hi everyone!
I wanted to ask someone who knows and is accustomed to porting roms might bring a rom type ICS or Jelly Bean for the U8800 (not pro).
But in a special way, I have had problems on all roms because of the wi-fi, the one where the wi-fi works is the Xperia Style and opened the zip and found that there was one thing that none of the other roms had - one folder to say wifi.
I wanted to ask someone who can make or bring a folder with the rom that has wifi and wpa this rom, because I think so now will give wifi ...
(I used Google Translator)

Different ROMs have different way to load and run wifi. Doing what you say is possible through the source code, but it is a lengthy process; modifying all of the wifi configuration files.

But if someone did it when ported the Xperia Style, why don't do the same for another rom like CyanogenMod or other?
Can you send me a link to find some roms of Honor?

[Q] [Help][EAP-SIM] upgrade wpa_supplicant

hi everybody !
I need a working EAP-SIM auth on wifi. So i modified wpa_supplicant.conf, like described here but it doesn't work. I found that the problem seems to be that the version of wpa_supplicant (0.6.x) in many Roms doesn't support EAP-SIM (I'm on Cyanogenmod 7.2). I would like to know if its possible to upgrade wpa_supplicant to 0.8 or patch it. If it's not possible is there a rom out there where wpa_supplicant v0.8 is implemented. It seems to work with freemobile stock rom S5360XXLK3_S5360FRELI1_S5360XXLK3_HOME, but i'd like to stay on AOSP Rom's.
Sorry for my bad english.
