850mhz 3g confirmed working on i9000t with jpy - Galaxy S I9000 General

Here are the steps i did and proof.
I first flashed jp2 or the full name is I9000TDOJP2
Here is a thread about it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=851043
I flashed via odin.
If you flash via odin immediately after do a factory reset.
Also dont panic when the first time it boots up it hangs on the S.. It is rebuilding the dalvik cache files which takes a few minutes.. DONT panic and pull battery, just wait.
Now after factory reset. You have froyo and now want to go to 2.2.1.
Also this probably will work on an i9000M (you could also use jl2) IF you HAVE ENOUGH BALLS.. mine is currently in the shop which is why I picked up the i9000T (load off my back not to have to worry about SD card failures!!!!!)
Now you need to download heimdal and install (Note read the readme.txt. there is a driver that needs to be installed b4 it works)
Link is here.
http://www.glassechidna.com.au/products/heimdall/
Note this is necessary as no one has created yet an unbundled version of JPY (ie separate modem, csc, pda etc.)
You run heimdal and flash the factoryfs.rfs zimage param.lfs and cache.rfs
as csc.
You can get jpy from normal place here:
http://www.samfirmware.com/apps/auth/login?why=pw&try=1&wp=1&next=WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm
Note to unpack jpy you need gnu or some other tar: the command is as follows:
C:\galaxy\I9000XXJPY\I9000XXJPY>tar -xvf JPY_JPY_JPY.tar
tar: blocksize = 20
x modem.bin, 12582912 bytes, 24576 tape blocks
x param.lfs, 655360 bytes, 1280 tape blocks
x zImage, 4838208 bytes, 9450 tape blocks
x cache.rfs, 1392640 bytes, 2720 tape blocks
x factoryfs.rfs, 286584832 bytes, 559736 tape blocks
Note: that i AM using the csc from jpy...See the discussion below as to why the csc from jp2 did not work.
------------------------------
i tried to keep the jp2 csc also but when i installed jpy on top of jp2 using heimdal and skipping csc first time when it rebooted it was ok, but system info reported no csc, and indeed there was no csc directory on phone.
So then i tried using heimdal and select the cache/csc from jp2 and it rejected the csc saying firmware was for i9000 and csc was i9000t (not exact message but you get the idea).
oh yes and to get paid/apps etc back in market i had to edit the build.prop.. here is my modified build.prop. you need to be rooted and copy over the one in system with root explorer. Modified to look like jpo 2.2 to market.
-----------------------------------
Once you flash this you now have 2.2.1 on top of 850 mhz 3g jp1 modem.
Again this would probably work for jl2 bell modem as well.. either one is probably fine but I haven't tested that one.
Next some tweeks:
I tested and we now still have 2e and 3e boot loaders and 3 button still worked, BUT we are unable to install update.zip (ie clockwork mod etc.)
So, now i applied the CF root/kernel which gave me root, busybox (i installed the busybox from titanium later anyway), and most importantly you can installed unsigned .zip packages (ie clockwork mod).
the link is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
the file i used was:
CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPY-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1.zip (5.93 MB, 2378 views)
This is flashed again with odin as a pda.
Note: Interestingly the first time it failed...
Unplugged usb and plugged back in and it worked 2nd time (a little high tension there)
Now i got the app csc reset and after booting reset my csc from KOR to XEU
Do this NOW as later it does a reset and you will loose all installed apps.
link is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9316558
or you alternative can use code with imei to do this.
Now i used my backup pro and titanium and restored apps (BUT do not restore apps + data) not recommended as some will screw up your phone.
Finally i had to take build.prop off of phone and change so i could see my paid/protected apps in the market place. I think there are some apps to dol this but not sure exactly what they do or what version they put in build.prop because you want it to look like froyo not eclair. I change mine to look like ver 2.2 JP0.
see attachment for my build.prop
I used root explorer to copy over the one in system: (need to change to r/w access in root explorer b4 copy works).
Here are some screen shots showing version: and that 850mhz 3g is in fact working. I did not have to change any phone control settings.
GPS is also working great (I did change this to cold start as I prefer this)

good luck!!!
NOTE: you can see in the pictures a different battery icon.. That is because I slightly change the framework to give me a few more colorfull battery icons and percentages and transparent bar, but they are only in 20 percent increments.. When I tried a fully modified framework The icons were blank even after clearing dalvik cache.. oh well!

Could i just flash the jl2 modem on top of a 2.2.1 rom? I'm on darkyy's 7.0 and lost 850
Sent from my GT-I9000

Yes you can use tar to extract modem from archive and flash modem.bin with odin. No pit reparation or anything else. Since posting this I have switched to newer jl2 modem as well, better battery life. You probably still will have to use sgs info app and go on and enable 850 Hz frequencies.

Thanks for the reply. From what you reckon, is the jl2 modem the most recent 850 based one?

yep.. same approach for everything works for i9000 but you dont have to replace modem as you dont need 850 mhz 3g.
(note if you were thinking you would get 3g 850mhz with stock i9000 sorry. hardware is different).

i9000t and i9000m will not work correctly on 850mhz without the correct regional modem.. so yes it will not work .. this is for froyo.
in addition for eclair it needed the correct modem AND csc to work.

I have tried both darkys roms and insanity(currwntly trying insanity) and i have xxpy modem on my i9000T and it is working perfectly 3g and everything i would expect from the 850 band

Yes, but 850MHZ is 3.5G. Do you see 'H' in your status bar?

Yep of course thats hspda.or.something like that i see it here is the screenshot
This is screenie of phone
As you can see both H and using 850 band now the screen shot of about phone
It appears as i9000 but from the screenshot before this one you can see it is i9000t because of the 850 band. Im also running insanity 0.23 i will update to 0.24 tonight but i expwct the same results a working i9000t with 850 band running on a xxjpy modem
Edit: cant post links i will pm you

jl2 replace one of the bootloaders that wont let you flash other roms.. you will have to flash an alternate kernel.. ie speedmod or i use bln kernel.. then try to reflash jpy ...
to other guy he wants the latest jl2 is not froyo 2.2.1 but 2.2 whereas jpy is latest.

Hi, I have a problem with my I9000M running JL2 : voice calls and mobile network aren't working with my videotron sim card!
I guess I need to change the HSPA/UMTS frequecies of the phone from 850/1900/2100 Mhz to Videotron frequencies (1700/2100 MHz --> Band I (2100); Band IV (1700); Band II (1900)
From what I've read in the forums, I have to flash a modem file using Odin in order to change the phone frequencies.
The T-Mobile Vibrant uses 1700/2100 MHz bands... but I'm not sure JL2 has been released in the US, so not sure i can find a compatible modem file...
Well, I'm not too sure how to solve this, if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

XXJMF Modem / Baseband download

Here is the latest (at time of writing) XXJMF Modem / Baseband file (tested on my Euro Tab - flash with care). To be flashed via Odin / Heimdall.
XXJMF - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid Load Balancing) - MD5: cd4061a61e409c45a9e6ee6c8fcb0370
P
This version is in the JMG ROM that's been available for a few days so people who have updated to JMG already have the JMF baseband version and don't need to make any changes.
This works with your MoDaCo Beta ROM?
Which section do I put the file under in the Heimdal GUI (OSX)?
Does this have the same WCDMA capabilities as the Bell I9000 modem (I9000UGJK3) that has served AT&T Tab users well?
If so, is it better?
Edit: I did some research and it seems that the Bell I9000 modem is not the only one that will work for AT&T Tab users (giving 850MHz UMTS along with the rest).
See:

I loaded this radio--T959TLJL3, along with Roto-JMI-v1--and confirmed that it does work on 850MHz on an AT&T Tab.
Now my question is, what differentiates I9000UGJK3 from I9000UGJK4, T959TLJL3, and XXJMF? How can I tell what the differences are between these radio/baseband/modem versions for EDGE/3G/UMTS, WiFi, BT, GPS?

The i9000 and T959 radios are for other samsung galaxy s phones. The JM* is for samsung tabs. Since they have the same hardware they can be used on AT&T or T-mobile tabs respectively.

This question bothers me as well. I tried quite a few modem firmwares on my US Tmobile Tab and was not able to get 3G with none of them except original stock version.
We have to consider another variable: hardware version of the Tab. It seems that they don't support frequencies of competitive carrier. I had success with Tmo Vibrant. It works on both Tmobile and ATT 3G with proper Sim, of course. Same modem file that worked on Vibrant did not provide 3G on ATT meaning that either software stack or hardware not compatible.
To my knowledge the source code of phone software is not available for public and thus not much we can do about it.
mmmm, there is something strange in the way this tar is compressed,
if you try to unzip it using 7zip (i know there is NO need to unzip it but i do it as usual to check files integrity)it gives an error...
so I think it's better to stay away even if it works it may got some broken bit.
this is the error it gives:
"There i no correct record at the end of archive"
I tried downloading several times and end up with a tar around 500kb in size NOT 12Mb
Hope no one else tries flashing if it happens to them
can anyone who was able to get the entire 12Mb file, pls host it somwhere, as some people have posted, i was only able to download 1Mb file, even if it is zipped thats not going to inflate to 12Mb..
pls post if you were able to download the original 12Mb file.
Worked fine when I downloaded from the Tab lol

According to Samfirmware letter code, UB is Brasil.
http://samfirmware.com/samsunglettercode.htm
Well, it is not a I9000B, which I believe is the Brasil version of the SGS. This one is the I9000T, and it is for TTT which initilally I found was dor Trinidad and Tobago.
And yes upgrade through Kies.
I have a I9000T too, using 2.2.1 and it shows me new version available.
Finally Brazilian languague for Gingerbread.
Can somebody post update here. I also have 9000T, but since sitting on custom ROM, Kies will not show the update.
Thank a lot
You can use this software.
It's too complicated. I have to disable Lagfix, flash new CSC, etc. Better to use Odin and flash the ROM at once.
Cannot find this with FusDownload... What product code, pda, phone, etc?
I9000t has 850 umts correct?
can you post the modem.bin?
i9000T use 850, here in Panama it's distributed using Cable and Wireless and they are using 850. Would be very nice if somebody post this ROM here for Odin update. Will solve many problem with local provider.

I don't think our problem here is with our modems, I'm guessing is C&W itself. I've tested my SIM in different GT-I9000Ts with 2.2.1 and even Official 2.2.3 (and other SIMs in my SGS as well); the connectivity is still ****ty as hell. [i.e. today's ping is high as hell, download reporting +/- 400, up 1.2]
Since they went to "3.5G", we've been experiencing lots of issues. Blame it on their NW. Throw some tests late at night and you'll see how responsive is the NW. Though, it would be nice to have this update to make further tests

Official Brazilian GT-I9300 owners thread

Following the trends, here's an official thread for all Brazilian owners of the GT-I9300, aka Galaxy S III.
Just start, here's a pointer to download the official Brazilian ROMs using CheckFus downloader.
All ROMs provided by Samsung can be downloaded with CheckFus (http://fus.nanzen.se/), but the list presented by CheckFus doesn't include all of them.
The first thing you need to know are the CSC codes of the 4 operators Samsung works with in Brazil:
ZTA = Claro
ZTM = Tim
ZTV = Oi
ZVV = Vivo
ZTO = (none, unbranded, open)
CheckFus presents only ZTV, ZTM and ZTO, but any of them can be downloaded, following the procedures below, replacing <CSC code> with the 3-letter code above and no spaces before or after.
- Open CheckFus and in the firmware info pane, input the following:
Product code: GT-I9300MBD<CSC code>
PDA: I9300UBALE6
CSC: I9300<CSC code>ALE6
Phone: I9300UBLE6
Then click on "Check Firmware". If all data is corrent, it should look like this (using Claro - ZTA - as an example):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Click on Download and the original firmware should be downloaded to your PC. You can restore it to your phone - for warranty reasons, for example - using Odin3 or MobileOdin.
If the ROM is not found, instead of ALE6, try using ALE7 (as in ZTO) in the CSC.
Nice idea! Let's try to exchange some information about the phone and brazilian ROMs and softwares.
I have one question: Is the Brazilian GT-9300 based on the International Version or in the US version? Does it have the S4 or Equinox ?
I'm worried about using these ROMs with the wrong hardware.
Regards!
Thanks Simonetti,
I tried to do step by step to download the version "ZTO" but could not.
The only way I could get was with everything blank and select the device model.
Then it auto-filled fields with data
Product code: GT-I9300MBDZTO
PDA: I9300UBALE6
CSC: I9300ZTOALE7
Phone: I9300UBLE6
Dandare
Our model GT-I9300 is based on international model that only has access to HSDPA+, the model that comes with the Snapdragon processor S4 is the only one with access to LTE.
I believe this area of the forum is dedicated only to the international model, US-based models have other areas of the forum.
Doubt about firmware differences
What is the difference between CSC: I9300ZTOALE7 and CSC: I9300ZTAALE6?
I know the first is unbranded and the second belongs to Claro.
But the final ALE7 means that there are any improvements in the unbranded?

Usually (there are a few exceptions to the rule) yes: ALE7 is newer than ALE6.
But what really dictates the freshness of a build is the changelist number. while European versions are in the low 700K changelist, Brazilian ROMS are in the 500K range. The higher, the better.
Want to change my ROM to a more recently
Hi,
Where I can find the changelist number?
Can I install an European version in my GT-I9300 from Claro using Odin?
Do I need to root the phone?
Thanks
Does the Brazilian SGS3 has "S-Voice"? While I'm still happy with my S2 at least until Sammy release the SGS4, my brother just got a S3 from Oi (at first sight, it seems that it's unbranded), and it seems that there's S-Suggest, S-Notes, S-Planning (or whatever Sammy is now calling the calendar app), but no S-Voice... Would he need an European firmware in order to have the most commented novelty on his brand new Samsung flagship phone? It seems that S-Voice doesn't support Portuguese yet, even though Google voice search accuracy in Portuguese has improved dramatically in the last few months.

I've read a full review yesterday on the S3 (I don't remember where exactly, but I remember there was a link to it on UOL's technology section) that said that S-Voice was not installed in the brazilian S3 due to the fact that it doesn't support PT-BR yet (but, according to some high-level source on Samsung Brasil, it would be available eventually - I personally doubt it).
The review said, however, that one could actually download it from Samsung Apps - you have to manually search for it on the "Top Apps" area though, as it will not show up on the search area... Your brother could give it a try, but it will only talk to him in one of the supported languages (and by talk to it, I mean very clearly, almost fluently, just like in S2's VoiceTalk app).
Best regards, mate... It's good to see I'm not the only one fully satisfied with my S2 to the point of delaying its replacement (maybe for a future S4, whenever its released).

That is not true.
My S3 was bought from Claro, in Belo Horizonte, and it did come with all the S-apps, including S-Voice (which is, basically, Vlingo rebranded).
It doesn't matter anyway, because the application sucks. S-Voice is an over-rated bloatware that got uninstalled as soon as I rooted the S3.
One of the best features of the S2 was its ability to sync notes from Exchange, and that was removed in the S3. The S-Memo app (that replaced Notes) does NOT sync with Exchange.
Not many people here use their S2/3 for accessing corporate Exchange accounts, but for those who do, synching notes was a very useful feature that will be missed.

Yes, and you should, because all the European ROMs are a lot newer than the crappy Brazilian ROMs. If using Odin, you don't need root. You need root if you will be using MobileODIN.
I am in Belo Horizonte, and my S3 is featuring the German ROM (DBT), that is the newest there is. It works great and - regarding wi-fi networking and stability - it is a lot better than previous versions.
I used the original Brazilian version for 2 days tops. With it my S3 kept disconnecting from my home wi-fi network all the time (WPA2-PSK CCMP TKIP). With the German ROM it stays connected all the time.
I have made a post in the original ROMs teaching people how to download the German ROM using CheckFusDownloader through command line.
New ZTO ROM
Hi,
I´ve installed yesterday the Brazil unbranded version PDA: I9300UBALE6 and CSC: I9300ZTOALE7.
Today in the morning I was suprised by a message of new firmware update by FOTA.
When I finalized the update I got:
AP: I9300UBALF3
CP: I9300UBLF2
CSC: I9300ZTOALF1
When I installed the ZTO I lose all the Claro customizations what seems great.
But with this new firmware I´m getting poor 2G/3G reception.
Can I just upgrade my modem to another version? What is the best option for Claro carrier, I live in the Sao Paulo state.

Hi,
I´ve installed yesterday the Brazil unbranded version PDA: I9300UBALE6 and CSC: I9300ZTOALE7.
The German ROM that you are using has portuguese as a language to choose?
THank you.

I've had mine for a week, bought it straight from Samsung in my country, has 1 year warranty and was able to hand pick my phone and the color I wanted. Rooted it the first day and today there is an update (LE6). The only issue I have is that when I ask S-Voice for the weather it gives me the results of somewhere in Russia, lol. but I'm pretty happy with my mobile, even tho it has "the crappy camera" some people are whining.

Read my first post in this thread (the very first post). It will teach you how to download ANY official ROM you want.
If you want to download using the CheckFUS downloader command like utility, just follow this this:

but using the values I provided in this thread's 1st post.
Hey guys after last FOTA could keep root?
I can't install superSU by CVM anymore, and applying the CF-Root also does not work.
This FOTA really killed root...

You should never accept OTA upgrades if you're rooted. It will obviously overwrite your system partition, thus making you lose su.
You have to undergo the whol rooting process again.

S5360t roms and radios?

So I own the Telecom NZ version of the Galaxy Y. The only difference this phone has to the other version is that it supports the 850mhz 3G band in conjunction with the standard 2100mhz band.
I have managed to root the stock rom the phone came with (DOKK3 2.3.6), and I wanted to install Creeds Rom 3.5. I wiped the phone, flashed the rom and restarted, but my camera didn't work. I'm now back on stock DOKK3 (lucky I made a backup, because I can't find the original firmware anywhere else).
Is this because of the radio/baseband? It is currently DOKK3. Does it need to be anything specific? Would flashing an international radio disable the 850mhz 3G band?
Thank you for listening to all my questions

You're from Cologne! How cool. I'll check out that link, and yes, my phone is a prepaid carrier branded one. However I haven't read anything about roms for it because it's only sold in New Zealand and there are probably only like 10,000 of them out there.
Thanks!
Don't suppose you have a flashable version of your DOKK baseband I could download? I made the stupid mistake of flashing my phone with an international version after I bricked it and didn't make a backup. Now it's not showing the XT network anymore.

Hey Ketchup,
I also have the Telecom NZ galaxy y and have experienced the same issue regarding the camera, and the accelerometer is also out by 90 degrees. However I did not make a backup of the stock rom
Can you please please please upload your copy of the stock rom so that I can download it? It would be very much appreciated as right now my phone is nearly unusable :crying:
Thanks very much

Starweaver1 emailed me a link to a site where you can download the ODIN files for the original Telecom firmware. There has also been a revised firmware version released in September(?) of 2012 that features an updated lockscreen similar to the galaxy s3's. I might upload it here soon if you guys want.

[Guide] Cricket - Get Marshmallow! (6.0.1) - HTC 626s

Unfortunately, Cricket has apparently decided that our phone isn't worth an update. However, with a little knowledge, you can get it up and working in no time.
Thanks to @nightbreed813 for the original debloated MM ROM. Thanks also to @noaone for his tips. Without them, I'd still be on Lollipop.

Prerequisites:
You MUST have a custom recovery (preferably TWRP) installed. No ifs, ands or buts. If you don't currently meet this requirement, see this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-626/help/complete-detailed-step-step-root-t3217505
Easy method:
Download the modified zip from this post
Copy it to your device's internal storage
BACKUP YOUR CURRENT DATA. This should work, but you don't want to be caught off-guard. DO IT!
Remove the SIM card. Keep it removed until you have completed the setup process. Replacing it before then will screw Android up, and you'll have to reflash.
Wipe System, Data, DALVIK & Cache
Flash the file you downloaded from this post.
Reboot your phone and wait for it to start the setup process.
Bypassed hands-free activation. Tap 'Done' in Self Service and accept that there wasn't a network to register to.
You can reinsert your SD Card at this point. Cricket will now set the network up for you.
.
You should be done now. Enjoy Marshmallow.
Manual method (Long):
Download a zip from nightbreed813's post.
Open the zip (preferably with Windows File Explorer), and, without extracting, navigate to \META-INF\com\google\android\
Open updater-script with a text editor, preferably Notepad++
Change the first 2 lines to
HTML:
#ASSERT
unmount("/system");
, replacing what's there.
Save, and let Windows recompile the zip
This zip should now flash on your phone. Follow the Easy Method instructions (excluding step 1) to install.

**Bump**
Hi, thank you for providing the instuctions. I flashed the rom to my 626. Unfortunately I'm not able to connect to LTE on GSM band. I guess this is because it is a Sprint Rom that's designed for CDMA network technology ?

I see no reason why it shouldn't; Cricket is on AT&T's network. Still, make a TWRP backup just in case it doesn't work out, for whatever reason.

No, as long as you have a 626s on Cricket, it should work. (Besides, I think Cricket is running on CDMA anyhow, though I might be mistaken.)

It's actually a 625 from Cricket that I'm using but it's considered to be the same as the 626. Cricket is using ATT's GSM network. I really hope I can enable LTE connectivity.

Well, that's probably what your problem is. After following the instruction outlined in the post (on my HTC Desire 626s), I've not encountered this. If everything else is the same beyond that, it's the only option.
PLEASE check that you've followed the instructions perfectly, especially steps 4 &8.
If you're 100% sure that you have, it may just be that the 625 on Cricket is somehow incompatible here.
At any rate, I can only help with what I have, and I have a 626s. If the exact same methods that work with my 626s aren't working on your 625, I can't do too much. Sorry...
If I can help anyway otherwise, let me know.

I used a Cricket 625 with the 626 ROM. Worked fine with the AT&T (StraightTalk) SIM.
A word of caution: this phone has very little room for much of anything. The stock ROM completely fills up the phone after all of the updates download (under Lollipop). This ROM gives you a bit of extra room, but not much.
I'm very happy with my no-ad Moto G5+ from Amazon. At $219, it's an incredible value. The bootloader is unlockable, and it's fairly "current" with nougat on the phone. Oreo is already in the pipe, and you can always switch to more custom ROMs after the Oreo updates quit coming.
With all of security issues plaguing phone users, old phones that can't keep reasonably current need to gracefully fade away.
como consigo desabilitar simlock que ahora me dice que esta habilitada y no tengo red ni datos ahora tengo el 626s

Exactly the reason why I would like to run Android 6 on this phone so I can use adoptive storage
I also have trouble opening the APN settings after flashing this rom. Most of the times the phone shows me this "Select your carrier" screen. When I select my carrier (Telfort), internet works but after a reboot I have to choose my APN again. Anyone knows how to get rid of these preset apn settings ? (I tried these instructions for editing the build.prop to get full access to the APN settings. All suggestions are welcome, thank in advance !
I think I used a ROM called "AdvancedStock626_V5.zip". It's a bare-bones ROM, and I was able to manually set the APN.
You have unlocked your phone, right?

Whoops! I was wrong on which I flashed. My apologies....
I couldn't get the Advanced stock to "recover" with TWRP. Instead, I installed the debloated Sprint_Stock_MMDB from this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/de...-flashable-stock-htc-626s-debloated-t3293602/
I had LTE, or at least I thought I did. Everything seemed to work with my StraightTalk (AT&T) SIM.
Maybe this Sprint Rom doesn't support European LTE frequencie, I bought this 625 phone from Cricket last year when I was in the States. I see that I'm 3.5G now which is fine by me. One thing that concerns me is that the data roaming icon is greyed out. I'm flying to another EU country next week, does this mean I don't have internet abroad? I modified ro.com.android.dataroaming=false in build.prop into true, still can't select data roaming. Anyone know how to fix this ? Appreciate all the help!
