Official Brazilian GT-I9300 owners thread - Galaxy S III General

Following the trends, here's an official thread for all Brazilian owners of the GT-I9300, aka Galaxy S III.
Just start, here's a pointer to download the official Brazilian ROMs using CheckFus downloader.
All ROMs provided by Samsung can be downloaded with CheckFus (http://fus.nanzen.se/), but the list presented by CheckFus doesn't include all of them.
The first thing you need to know are the CSC codes of the 4 operators Samsung works with in Brazil:
ZTA = Claro
ZTM = Tim
ZTV = Oi
ZVV = Vivo
ZTO = (none, unbranded, open)
CheckFus presents only ZTV, ZTM and ZTO, but any of them can be downloaded, following the procedures below, replacing <CSC code> with the 3-letter code above and no spaces before or after.
- Open CheckFus and in the firmware info pane, input the following:
Product code: GT-I9300MBD<CSC code>
PDA: I9300UBALE6
CSC: I9300<CSC code>ALE6
Phone: I9300UBLE6
Then click on "Check Firmware". If all data is corrent, it should look like this (using Claro - ZTA - as an example):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Click on Download and the original firmware should be downloaded to your PC. You can restore it to your phone - for warranty reasons, for example - using Odin3 or MobileOdin.
If the ROM is not found, instead of ALE6, try using ALE7 (as in ZTO) in the CSC.

Nice idea! Let's try to exchange some information about the phone and brazilian ROMs and softwares.
I have one question: Is the Brazilian GT-9300 based on the International Version or in the US version? Does it have the S4 or Equinox ?
I'm worried about using these ROMs with the wrong hardware.
Regards!

Thanks Simonetti,
I tried to do step by step to download the version "ZTO" but could not.
The only way I could get was with everything blank and select the device model.
Then it auto-filled fields with data
Product code: GT-I9300MBDZTO
PDA: I9300UBALE6
CSC: I9300ZTOALE7
Phone: I9300UBLE6
Dandare
Our model GT-I9300 is based on international model that only has access to HSDPA+, the model that comes with the Snapdragon processor S4 is the only one with access to LTE.
I believe this area of the forum is dedicated only to the international model, US-based models have other areas of the forum.

Doubt about firmware differences
What is the difference between CSC: I9300ZTOALE7 and CSC: I9300ZTAALE6?
I know the first is unbranded and the second belongs to Claro.
But the final ALE7 means that there are any improvements in the unbranded?

Usually (there are a few exceptions to the rule) yes: ALE7 is newer than ALE6.
But what really dictates the freshness of a build is the changelist number. while European versions are in the low 700K changelist, Brazilian ROMS are in the 500K range. The higher, the better.

Want to change my ROM to a more recently
Hi,
Where I can find the changelist number?
Can I install an European version in my GT-I9300 from Claro using Odin?
Do I need to root the phone?
Thanks

Does the Brazilian SGS3 has "S-Voice"? While I'm still happy with my S2 at least until Sammy release the SGS4, my brother just got a S3 from Oi (at first sight, it seems that it's unbranded), and it seems that there's S-Suggest, S-Notes, S-Planning (or whatever Sammy is now calling the calendar app), but no S-Voice... Would he need an European firmware in order to have the most commented novelty on his brand new Samsung flagship phone? It seems that S-Voice doesn't support Portuguese yet, even though Google voice search accuracy in Portuguese has improved dramatically in the last few months.

I've read a full review yesterday on the S3 (I don't remember where exactly, but I remember there was a link to it on UOL's technology section) that said that S-Voice was not installed in the brazilian S3 due to the fact that it doesn't support PT-BR yet (but, according to some high-level source on Samsung Brasil, it would be available eventually - I personally doubt it).
The review said, however, that one could actually download it from Samsung Apps - you have to manually search for it on the "Top Apps" area though, as it will not show up on the search area... Your brother could give it a try, but it will only talk to him in one of the supported languages (and by talk to it, I mean very clearly, almost fluently, just like in S2's VoiceTalk app).
Best regards, mate... It's good to see I'm not the only one fully satisfied with my S2 to the point of delaying its replacement (maybe for a future S4, whenever its released).

Cheers mate, that's very helpful indeed. I'll advise him to download "S-Voice" from Samsung Apps and use it in English. I'm very keen to see by myself how better it is compared to VLingo's "Voice Talk" shipped with the S2.

That is not true.
My S3 was bought from Claro, in Belo Horizonte, and it did come with all the S-apps, including S-Voice (which is, basically, Vlingo rebranded).
It doesn't matter anyway, because the application sucks. S-Voice is an over-rated bloatware that got uninstalled as soon as I rooted the S3.
One of the best features of the S2 was its ability to sync notes from Exchange, and that was removed in the S3. The S-Memo app (that replaced Notes) does NOT sync with Exchange.
Not many people here use their S2/3 for accessing corporate Exchange accounts, but for those who do, synching notes was a very useful feature that will be missed.

Yes, and you should, because all the European ROMs are a lot newer than the crappy Brazilian ROMs. If using Odin, you don't need root. You need root if you will be using MobileODIN.
I am in Belo Horizonte, and my S3 is featuring the German ROM (DBT), that is the newest there is. It works great and - regarding wi-fi networking and stability - it is a lot better than previous versions.
I used the original Brazilian version for 2 days tops. With it my S3 kept disconnecting from my home wi-fi network all the time (WPA2-PSK CCMP TKIP). With the German ROM it stays connected all the time.
I have made a post in the original ROMs teaching people how to download the German ROM using CheckFusDownloader through command line.

New ZTO ROM
Hi,
I´ve installed yesterday the Brazil unbranded version PDA: I9300UBALE6 and CSC: I9300ZTOALE7.
Today in the morning I was suprised by a message of new firmware update by FOTA.
When I finalized the update I got:
AP: I9300UBALF3
CP: I9300UBLF2
CSC: I9300ZTOALF1
When I installed the ZTO I lose all the Claro customizations what seems great.
But with this new firmware I´m getting poor 2G/3G reception.
Can I just upgrade my modem to another version? What is the best option for Claro carrier, I live in the Sao Paulo state.
The German ROM that you are using has portuguese as a language to choose?
THank you.

I've had mine for a week, bought it straight from Samsung in my country, has 1 year warranty and was able to hand pick my phone and the color I wanted. Rooted it the first day and today there is an update (LE6). The only issue I have is that when I ask S-Voice for the weather it gives me the results of somewhere in Russia, lol. but I'm pretty happy with my mobile, even tho it has "the crappy camera" some people are whining.

Read my first post in this thread (the very first post). It will teach you how to download ANY official ROM you want.
If you want to download using the CheckFUS downloader command like utility, just follow this this:

but using the values I provided in this thread's 1st post.

Hey guys after last FOTA could keep root?

You should never accept OTA upgrades if you're rooted. It will obviously overwrite your system partition, thus making you lose su.
You have to undergo the whol rooting process again.

No update available

I'm not getting this new OTA update for my note. I thought it's been released for Europe. I'm pretty sure my note is unlocked, there is no carrier bloatware or O2 crap on it anyway. Is anyone else in the UK having this problem, has anyone got they're note to update yet?

T-Mobile Netherlands contract renewal, no lock and no t-mobile apps. When i bought the phone it was on KJ4 and updated to KKA with Kies.
I got mine from yesAsia but I think it was a Polish one (could be wrong) but have flashed with uk carphone warehouse rom (no carrier affiliation I think) no update and that stupid kies software tells me to put my phone in kies mode to connect.......there is no kies mode! Anyhoo hoping I still get the update
Although after my nexus s what I really want is a plain ics rom with no Samsung overlay

I'm not getting the update on the phone, haven't tried via kies cause can't get it to recognise my phone. I'm on KKA and the XEH region whatever that means I'm in the uk too, but bought online so not quite sure where the phone was sourced from.
No update for me, I have UK note
If you can't get kies to work with your phone, what worked for me was to use error solving mode (or something like that) in kies. That reinstalled some drivers. I think that did the trick. Else try toggling USB debugging mode on the phone.
But even with kies working you will probably find that there is still no update and that you have to do the hardest thing in life: be patient.

no update for me , SLovakia Orange.
Same here, no update , Serbia VIP network
i think Samsung and other manufactures will do the updates one or couple of countries at the time, and the new countries will be in two weeks time.
Motorola with the update for the Xoom was scheduled tow week per continent.
no updates in scandinavia either
i live in finland with elisa/saunalahti as a carrier, called the samsung helpcenter here and asked about the upcoming updates they had no idea what i was talking about :/
so i updated to the stock al4 via ODIN and it works fine,
only problem is that kies doesnt "support" updating my phone trough it everything else works photosharing and so on..
but i think the problem is that i now have a german stock rom and the county sales code (csc) is NEE when i propably would have to change it to something else to get the kies upade mode to work..
any suggestions about what the right csc would be?
could try them all one at a time but changing CSC factory resets your phone every time u change it so any help could be useful!
no Kies connection

no dont change the sales code.. then kies wont recognise ur phone if u do that!
the newest update is propably just not available in ur country yet.
it must always be the, lets say.. german rom and german country sales code
or scandinavian rom for scandinavian csc, u get the idea..
try a custom rom while waiting for the ICS, choose one with the latest update integrated then u dont have to wait..
criskelo has one out with a nice ics theme and latest available update

Differences between Hong Kong and UK models?

Any hardware differences between HK and UK versions of the 7.7?
I've got a Hong Kong version (16 gig, 3G enabled) and was wondering if there would be any pitfalls to flashing it with UK firmware when available.
TIA
I also have a Hong Kong 7.7 3g model and live in the UK and I flashed it with the Open Austria firmware because it covers the UK region and had no problems.

The Open Austria ROM comes with an installation of swype that does not include Chinese input, unlike the Hong Kong ROM. You also lose the DioPen Chinese input. But other than that, I can't see much else of a difference. (I have successfully flashed the Open Austria ROM on my HK device and gotten around the input options issue by other means.)
Thanks - sounds like I can go ahead and change to UK ROM then. I'm in the UK so not too worried about any loss of Chinese input options.

You wouldn't miss DioPen once you have tried Go Chinese input method. It's designed specifically for tablets, so that you can have a bigger (with more keys) keyboard layout when you installed the right plugin.
I list below those packages you needed to install for use in Hong Kong:
GO輸入法中國香港倉頡\速成\筆劃詞庫包
GO輸入法Pad插件
GO輸入法國際版 <=== install it first
GO輸入法國際版中文手寫插件 <==== only if you want handwriting, I use 倉頡 anyway.
The only downside is that you lost the Voice input key in the new keyboard layout, but that is something I wouldn't really use too frequently anyway.
Ty lots guys <3

Add me to the list of people who have the Hong Kong version but flashed the Austrian ICS update with no issues.
I have galaxy tab 7.7 hongkong version too,
I did upgrade to ics Austria version...
I can say , almost everything is fine ... only a few minor thing missing ...
1. like people said before chinese keyboard is missing
2. Ebook reader (stock form samsung) ... if I click this one ... i got message "service will be available soon" but I don't care ... many ebook reader can be downloaded.
3. Kies warning "Your Device does not support software Upgrading via Kies"
I am afraid because csc change from hongkong to austria ...
My question is : if ICS Hongkong version release , Can I re flash again with Hongkong version ???

I am in the same boat. HK tab 7.7 in the UK.
At the beginning I was thinking of changing CSC to UK or EU, but then I somehow realized that CSC only make a difference for KIES software, but not to anything else. Google market does not have a concept of CSC. Cyanogen ROMs do not have a concept of CSC. There are no restrictions or differences whatsoever apart from KIES.
I have tried KIES couple of times and that was enough. I will never touch it with a barge pole. I always hated iTunes, but KIES is a total joke! If I were Tim Cook, I would buy a Samsung tab and posted Youtube videos of my actual experiences with KIES. That would be enough to eliminate all but hardcore customers!
So why should I even be bothered to think of CSC? Hardware is exactly the same. I can install any UK or European Samsung ROM and it will work exactly the same on HK tab. When decent CM9/CM10 come out I would give it a try.
In other words I see no advantages of a UK Tab 7.7 vs HK Tab 7.7.
But I see one very important disadvantage and you know what it is.

Model Number SM-N9000Q

Hi I just bougt Note 3 in Turkey. We have Exynos Octa version. But model number in Turkey is a little different. AFAIK model number for Exynos version should be N900 but when i look at the model number it says N9000Q. What is this model? Is this different from other exynos models or this naming is used for marketing purposes only?
it seems its just a high level naming. When i enter download mode model number reads as sm-n900
Edit: N9000Q and N900 are identical according to Samsung's mail to FCC.

if i remember correctly it took 1 month for them to release n8005 rom. i am sure at the end we will have stock rom at sammobile but i hope samsung didn't left us to our destiny like they did with n8005. while all n80xx models gets periodic updates n8005 never updated. also n7000 never got the last update for Turkey . I am afraid we will have to void our knox warranty to keep up with software and firmware updates with our beloved n9000q.
Finally Turkish N9000Q is in queue in sammobile. Will be ready to download in couple of hours.

Great news! Thanks for the update Even though i have sammobile premium mobile app it was this thread i got the news first somehow
I can't find the updated Ota rom for my note3 Turkish version. Rom details are as below:
AP: N9000QXXUBMJ1
CP: N9000QJVUBMI2
CSC: N9000QTURBMI3
Sammobile has been really fast on previous Samsung devices. I remember those old happy days when sammobile used to release new roms even before Ota updates.

hi everyone, would you please share some latest information on rooting our n9000q phones ? how would that be possible ? have you tried ?
I just got my Note3 today and would like to root this after my retired Note2...
can you share some more information and share some links if possible please..
Also one more thing, I would like to install one of the ROMs in this forum.. like the one I used to use with my Note2 was "Omega Rom". So omega continued development in Note3 also. And i would very like to download and install this rom.. Any help would be appreciated.

Confused :( :( Best English Official ROM and Modem Firmware for SM-N910U ??

Hi All,
I have an SM-N910U HK. Edition (Honkong edition) with a baseband of N910UXXU1ANL4 and build number KTU84P. N910UXXU1ANL4 with rooted official android 4.4.4 , due to its rooted , i never able to update the phone as well, so ;
1- The phone’s Default primary keyboard language is in chinese , and i am unable to remove or delete it , so i need an Default primary keyboard language to be in English prefered ( very important for me) at least and i never use and need chinese language support , but i just confused (please see the attached picture) , which one do i need to select ?? , i prefer the latest dates as updated as “2015-03-01” but pure english language support is more important for me
2- Many of advice New Zealand rom (for english support) but what about Baseband (PDA and CSC) ?? can i use any country of ROM ?? i live in Cyprus , does Baseband or country code affect the phone modem working as better or worst ??
3- What about others ?? like Taiwan and Panama roms ?? are they also chinese like Honkong or they are English only as well like New Zealand ?? because they seems as more updated like “2015-03-01” if so , can i use them instead of New Zealand ??
4- My phone Signal drops frequently as dramatically (2G/3G) , and lots of time it is continuously switching betwen H and H+ and signal bars frequently drops from full to one or two line on even when my mote 4 standing on my desk (my previous Note 2 or S3 never droped like that, and also my GSM operator has no coverage issiues) , so are there any modem firm that i can update ?? (for U series only) or other country code (for U series only) Roms like New Zealand , Panama or Taiwan can also change the modem firm automatically from Honkong as well during the flashing process ??
So , following the above conditions and by checking the attached picture, please help and advise me an updated best official working ROM for my SM-N910U , thanks for helps

I'm not sure, But I always used to go with BTU or DBT (UK/Germany) Roms, as in earlier Galaxy S (i9000) days, These CSC used to have all apps available in Playstore rather than the rest. Still I go with these CSC.
DBT will come with some bloatware which you can remove easily with root.

1) You need to select Samsung Keyboard as your primary keyboard and set the English as the primary language.
2) You can flash any ROMs made for your specific model number SM-N910U. Flashing other country's roms are not going to affect your phone in any way.
3) From my experience, Taiwan releases updates for their Samsung flagship devices every 2-3 months. This is faster than average release of updates.
4) Signal drop is a known issue for the SM-N910U regardless of what ROM or Modem you are running. SM-N910U is equipped with Intel XMM 7260 LTE modem and Intel has not fully integrated its kernel and drivers for the device. I personally own two SM-N910U models, one for Taiwan and one for New Zealand. They both experience signal drops.

I would also like to add that spamming the forum will not get you the answer faster. There are other people that has the same urgency to get responses and put rest to their questions. Just keep that in mind please.

Dear friend ,
Thanks for your helpfull answer but , i still some confused , so what i understand your answers is that , signal problem is a comon on U series , thats ok , and you mean , flashing different countries does not affect to modem firmware ?? is that correct ? , if so we will just wait a good working kernel and firmware for the intel modem, later?? and my second problem is that , (please see the attached picture as well) when i first setup the note 4 , or if i factory reset the note 4 the default language is chinese and it is untickable or unmovable (like in the picture attached) , but then you can add english later , but i dont want to be the primary language chinese , i want only in english (primary default) and if possible then turkish (secondary add on language) , so the taiwan rom is like HK. rom ?? (like first language chinese and unmovable) or the primary language is in english ?? , if not so , what about the other Roms ?? , or may i switch to New Zealand rom ?? ( i am just asking it for only about primary default language, updates my second preference but , i want to switch the updated english one , not chinese )
thanks again

Flashing different country's roms are not going to fix the ungoing issue of signal disconnecting. We'll need to wait until a new update is released.
Chinese IME is not removable, but your default keyboard is Samsung Keyboard, which means the Chinese IME is disabled. You can click the Samsung keyboard settings to change your input language.
Taiwan rom is 99% similar to Hong Kong version. The HK version has a newer baseband, but the rom content is the same. If you switch your rom to NZ version, you will have English as your default language and the Chinese IME will not be installed on your device.
Or you could flash THIS if you want the latest firmware with lots of features
You can also install a third party keyboard like THIS
In short and what has already been said; you can use any other firmware for the N910U from any region without issue. Only thing is some have chinese writing and others don't. It sounds like you don't want it so you should be fine.
Newer firmware has newer modem and it may be better for your region. I haven't had any signal issues with my N910U and I'm from Australia where this version isn't sold (we have N910G).

Best Note 5 port?

I see the Kyubi rom, de bloated Kyubi, light debloated Kyubi and others.
Which Note 5 ported Rom is the best right now? Most stable, less bugs etc. I see the Kyubi roms has bugs with the screen off memo app.
I also happen to like the Samsung apps and touchwiz so i would like to keep those too. Please like me to which one you think is best at the moment. My goal is to have a Note 5 experience that is as close to the original as possible. No custom skins features etc...
Thanks!

I dont know if it is available for Snapdragon verison.
I m using exynos
I´m using SIXPERIENCE Rom v2 and in my N910U and is AWESOME!!
Currently dn5 is only available for the N910C exynos variant. Best so far for the N910F is kyubi rom n5 v1. Bear in mind it is the first release so there may be a few small things to iron out with some updates but I've been running it and testing it all day and so far the only things I have found are very minor. It is smooth, has superb battery life and is a good solid rom. I do have the blue bars on the sides of the screen off memo however that doesn't bother me too much. It works as it should so why complain. Echoe rom is another option however I gave up using it after a day as there were too many bugs. Kyubi n5 v1 is the best I have found so far
I have n910w8. Looks like there is no rom compatible with this version. It's a Rogers phone and rogers hasn't updated past 5.0.1 and never will as per their page. All other Canadian carriers are on 5.1.1. I don't understand why samsung phone require 5.1.1 already installed to use a 5.1.1 rom... i thought the whole point of custom roms was to install version and updates outside the normal schedule. On my HTC One i was able to install the latest version of android even tho my carrier didnt have it yet.. why are samsung phones any different?
I looked everywhere online and cant find modem or bootloaders for 5.1.1 other than 910f which obviously failed to install on my devices. Im so bumed right now, i even voided my warranty by rooting just to find out my phone cant install any roms at all.

Flash with odin.
Been using kyubi since note 5 rom was uploaded and I have not found any bugs what so ever. No fc's. It's smooth and fast and very stable.
I see many moaning about many different problems but I can assure you there issues are on there side and not the rom.

I saw that already. My phone is N910w8 and it looks like the other carriers in Canada are also N910W8. That link you sent me is for Bell, you think it's safe to install on mine even tho its from a different carrier? I've also read that the N910T is the same phone too and has the exact same hardware version.

As long as it's the same phone, it should be safe to flash.
Manual Camera
in these roms, the note 5 camera allow to use it with pro features?
i want to use manual control with this camera
i know that stock camera apk haven't speed shutter, but with other app as "manual camera" or "Camera FV-5", it's possible to use all control (on samsung s6, s6 edge and i think note 5).
Thanks!

Yes it is safe to flash. All Canadian Note 4's are N910W8 and exactly the same except for carriers firmware is just a matter of the bloatware they individually pre-install, otherwise everything else is the same. I have a Rogers Note 4 now running the Bell 5.1.1 firmware and it works just fine. You can also change your phones CSC code to any of the other Canadian carriers no matter which firmware you have meaning they are all the same except for the bloatware.
I am also curious if the camera app has been ported. I could care less about the other stuff.
I actually going back to the note 4. I have a S6 now and can't stand the battery life. With the note 4 before I would get easy 4.5 hours screen on time and now with the s6 I get only 2.5 and that sucks.
But the camera app is much better.
