[PRJ][LNX] openmoko on opal - update! - Touch Viva, MDA Basic ROM Development

using haret and the wing linux kernel an openmoko image boot on opal!!
i find all on open-nandra web site
but using an ext2 partition don't boot
you must make an ext3 partition
thanks a lot to marek(open nandra) and the wing linux team
how to:
Your SD card should have 2 partitions:
- fat
- ext3
extract the attached haret.7z to FAT partition of SD card
extract rootfs to ext3 partition
run haret.exe and wait some time (you should see angstrom splash screen)
do the screen calibration (if the phone freeze soft reset it relaunch haret)
now you are in openmoko
thanks to open-nandra and winglinux team

Hi... great news. Do you know what works with this OS in opal? Wifi, sound, etc ...?

I can't find, how to split sd cart to partitions! Did U get that?

thanks friend
here's a totarial for making the memory sd to 2 partitions
get this app to make ur sd, 2partitions:
MiniTool Partition Wizard Professional Edition 5.2
password is: " pirate.scar "
then see this video to understand how to work with that:
Video download link
in this step i used a linux os on pc because windows doesn't support ext format
if you couldn't past anything on ext format then format that part again in linux with EXT3 format
follow gp.triple totarial.....
enjoy

the function are the same of winglinux (no audo - no wifi - no bt - etc...) becouse the kernel is the same
for making a partition you can use a live cd of linux like ubuntu
and yes i test it on my opal and its work
for booting it you must keep the default txt and change the mtipe
and use the zimage of winglinux package
tomorrow i'll upload a zip whit haret default and zimage

Mistery!
did all that from the description! however, did not get it to life!
I create partitions with that mini tool. Copy all of that files what i need! Windows 7 can see fat partition and i can do with it what i want, but in my WinMob device HTC Touch Viva((opal) using Jogan2 EVO-B rom) sd card is invisible!
Linux see all of partitions.
Why Win7 see that card but WINMOB don't?

[Q] Failed to get ext2 partition in any way i tried!

I have tried all kinds of ways to partition my sd card to get data2ext to work on b 0.5.
- Partitioning through rom manager
- Partitioning through paragon partition manager (didn't even work)
- Manually partitioning by running commands through terminal emulator
I manage to get the linux swap and fat32 partition but no matter which method i tried, i just can't get the ext2 partition. On the emulator, it asked if my file system was an ext2 system.
By the way, i am using an 8gb sd card that came with Nokia 5800. Is this the cause of not being able to create the ext2 partition?
Easiest way I can think of is to use the live distro of Gparted.
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php
Awesome partitioning tool and has a gui anyone can follow.
E.E.
i just partioned my 8gb yesterday with paragon, no problems. what kind of problem did you have?
@eepunk I will try that later... i'll see if there is any solution in the current software(s) i have...
@haha123 the problem i'm facing is i cannot see the sd card when i click format partition... Maybe i'm doing it wrong. Here is how i do..
1. Plug my phone into USB and click Disk Drive
2. Open up Paragon Partition Manager 11 Personal
3. Click on Partition Manager on the left tabs and launch the partition manager
4. At the bottom, click on Basic Hard Disk (HTC Android Phone USB Device)
5. Click on Format Partition in the Disk View tab.
The problem is when i click format partition. It just shows the hard disk in my PC but not the HTC Android phone USB Device.
I even tried skipping the format partition to try creating a partition but i still cannot see the HTC Android Phone USB Device.
The Error i get is "The disk already contains four primary partitions. Basic hard disks can contain only four primary partitions, including extended one.
Eh...
Why not just boot into Clockwork and use the Partition menu

Hi,
Windows 7 cannot create EXT4 (or any EXT for that matter) on its own.
You can use tools like GParted.
Here is a guide that will explain what you need to do:

[Tutorial] How to part your micro SD card into ext4 using GParted Live CD?

[Tutorial] How to part your micro SD card into ext4 using GParted Live CD?
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for dead micro SD. Please do it at your own risk
Hello All,
Please find the below tutorial to part your micro SD card into ext4.
Required:
• Micro SD card
• Card Reader/Micro SD card Adaptor (Make sure drivers are already installed)
• GParted live CD (Download: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php)
• Image Burner Software
• Another computer or screenshot to read this tutorial as you cannot use your computer while partition
• Take backup of all your data in your SD card.
Ok that’s all…. Let’s start now.
• Burn the downloaded GParted live (GPL) CD using any image burner (I used Roxio to burn image) to CD
• Once completed, insert your card reader/MSD Adaptor and check drivers installed. (Don’t remove your card reader/MSD Adaptor)
• Insert GPL CD (burned CD) and reboot your PC and get into boot mode F12 in W7.
• Now you will see GPL boot screen. Select GPL default. (Some codes will be appearing for few mins)
• Then a small screen will appear (Configuring console data). Hit escape and see below to select language. Enter 33 for US English and Enter 0 (Continue to start X to use GP automatically)
• New screen will appear. See right corner of the box to select your memory card (Very important step: make sure you haven’t selected your PC’s hard disk)
• Now you will see your memory card in the middle of the screen with the total memory and partition (if any). Right click and delete the existing format for all partitions.
• Now you will see the entire memory card space as unallocated. Right click and select new (New box will open) Select as below mentioned.
Create as “Primary Partition”
File System “Fat32”
Free Space following (MIB) XXXX (This free space will be your ext4 allocate accordingly) E.g. ext 4 required 2GB then enter 2048MB
• Now GPL will throw you back to main screen. Right click on unallocated space and select new.
Create as “Primary Partition”
File System “ext4”
• Select “Apply” in main screen. Wait for few mins.
Congratulations!!!! You have successfully parted your SD card.
Is it the same as partitioning thru CWM4? If we partition via CWM4 the result is EXT4, A2sd can run with it. Why the long process? Just want a clarification is it really different?

Hi,
I tried doing partition using CWM4 which resulted in ext3 and not ext4. Hence I created this long process partition.
Just create a 2 partition using cwm then install link2sd from market . Using link2SD make a partition into ext 4
i think its more easy and safe to use minitool partition manager. no need to burn, boot livecd whatsoever.. and gparted livecd can become a dangerous tool in wrong hands. linux livecd is not something to be played around just to partition sdcard. just a simple wrong click and ur windows partition would be trashed.
Just a little advise.. if you really want to use gparted better you do that in linux enviroment such as ubuntu etc..but if you are windows user then use mini partision home 6..its more easy n safe..Cmiiw

I also got the same problem.
Seems like miniTool is messing up..
I partitioned my 8GB sd card to 600MB ext4 and the rest FAT32.
But now not only the phone but even gparted(live usb/from linux) also cannot see ext4 partition.
I can only see it as 7.4 MB....
Not sure what exactly happened.
Edit: working now. after delete & partition again.

Set-up micdoSD for Android Partition ext3 - Help Pleease.

Hi,
how are you today? For me good, thanks for asking, ha ha ha hanb
It's alredy my second thread for today, all problems, wow.
So I will try to explain, like in the thread before, I got HTC HD2 and I have Mdeejay eVo on my sd card and I launch Android from WM6.5.
The Android which I use have already the data_1024 folder, inside data.IMG file which it use for storage the Androids apps, but from my research I find the news to some how edit my microsd card and set-up a Partition which be the sobstitute of the data_1024.
I will be glad to know HOW?
Like I said, I got my Android on sd and I try for a week to find the solution with no success, I try to make a ext3 partition on sd of 2048mb but the android do not see that partition. I can't flash anything because on my ROM is WM 6.5.
I also will be glad to make another data_2048 folder with inside data.IMG file, if the Partition can't be done.
Please guys let me know how do I have set-up the partition for the Android?
Thanks.

before post here I already saw your thread and like I said I do not have MALGDR on my phone or CWM, also I don't know which type of partition need my Android but I am sure is not the last type of Androids which they have the folders; kernel, META-INF, sdcard (inside NativeSD) and system folder. My Android is whit rootfs.img with external data_1024 folder for storage system.
I used Gparted live and I made a partition of 2048mb of ext3 partition but the Android do not see the partition because somehow I can't make a link to it.
I want more storage for my Android and delete data_1024 folder so I try to figure out, with some help, how to do that?
Any ideas?
Use toporesize app on pc to expand your present data img size without losing present data. . To get more space. .No need for ext 3 and all
Search for topo resize
If youwant to use apps 2 sd or link 2sd app from market to use ext 3.. Then you can move apps to sd ... That is for nand installs. . You don't need that on sd builds. ...
You try native sd builds. . Fastest ever.sd builds. . You can boot from wm also . You need ext4 partition for it. ..

So I do not need a special partition for my android, good to know.
I know the last Nand Androids are good but I have old phone with old Android and he work fine, I try to put Native SD Android on my sd but too complicated and I do not have so much time. At the moment I find Mdeejay very fast and good, I tryed AmeriCan Android, CM7 and 10 and really I am not comfortable with them like with Mdeejay, so it's ok like that. ! problem solver, I just try to update my kernel - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1976835 - and I am ok.

End of the Party, Guys, I was happy to soon!
I used toposize to made data.img for my android but I got problems.
If I resize data.img system partition, first of all, I got the error on e2fsck (see the pic) and i have to click ok to compleate the operation and after that I put the data.img into Anrdoid forlder and I replace the original (backups before) but the Android do not turn on, he stuck in HTC Logo.
If I made a clean data.img with ext3 system partition and I replace the data.img into the Android folder, he do not turn on and he stuck in Android logo.
If I use the original data.img from the package the Android turn on normally.
Do I forgot to do something? Do I missing something?

you are keeping data .img in a folder?...data.img should be in android folder..no further subfolders...and delete that stupid ext3 partition..you dont need it.
try native sd..it is very simple (for you to dual boot with windows mobile):
you need ext4 partition..use minitool partition manager to create it
then put selected rom zip (like pacman hd2 rom..."the best rom") on sd card
put 4ext recovery folder on sd card..open it , click clcrad and haret inside...follow screen instructions to install rom
Reboot and boot the ROM by executing the usual clcrad and haret stuff inside the NativeSD folder.
thats it.

ohh, well, yes, the data.img is in Android folder, not subfolders or external folders, I said so because in my package of Mdeejay are 2 folders, Android and data_1024. The data_1024 is all ready done to make a fast boot instantly but if I do not use it Android make the clean data into his root folder.
About the partition you get confused a little bit because when I used toporesize to made a clean data.img file to use it in android folder, the app ask me in which system the file have to be, ext2, ext3 or NONE. So no 1 of this data.img worked.
I hope I clarifide, I do not have ext3 partition on sd, is the data.img. that's all.

I don't know about that, currently I have a working Android (not jet set-up like I want too) but I will see if I sholud do all this stuff. I am not so deep in this stuuf and just reach when I reach now, get me tired. So I take in the consideration you advice but now I have to have 1 android working well.
Ok, some bad news:
I did in different way to set-up my storage image, I let Android to made a clean data.img into his folder, after he finished installation and start running well I take the data.img of 1GB and with toposize I resize the image to 3GB. Like I said before, he give me this crap error but I really do not understand why? If Android made a clean data.img in his folder which errors can be made?
So I click ok anyway and made this file and I replaced the 1GB with 3GB with unclarifide done error fix.
He works for feew hours, smooth and fast, I start installing appps and games. Like many games they ask for downloading some updated files so I start downloading 450mb for 1 game and after 20 minuts Android crashed and he do not turn on anymore, he stuck in Android logo.
Are you sure this crap "TOPOSIZE" working? or it's just ME?
Guys, please help, I get confused and I don't know how to do it.
Today I also try install on my android Chainfire and i can't install plugins for low storage so after few hours of serching I find this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16457164&postcount=14723 but after read what they saying I do not understand anymore which system file I have to resize to get more space AND to make working chainfire which I really need right now for few games!
Someone can tell me which files I have to resize? How? or Post the right thread? please.

Not enough memory to install anything

Hi,
Short / long story:
I have long time unused HTC HD2.
With Android (NexusHD2-KitKat-CM11.0_V4.5.zip is the file which I found in backup, so I assume this is what I install - sorry, it was long time ago.
Some time ago I need microSD card so I took it from my HD2, I did backup only windows FAT32 partition.
Now, I need to run my HD2 , I have install microSD 2 GB (800 MB FAT32 + 1GB Ext4) but is not working correctly.
It starting I can install Teamviewer, but when I need to install HTC module for teamviewer it's telling me that is not enough storage.
Quite often is restarting and after restart not keeping any settings (wi-fi) app installed (teamviewer) it's resetting each time to factory settings.
In Settings - Storage shows 'Total space' - Available 0.00 bytes
I did what is instructed on this webpage but it didn't help http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...mory-in-android-nand-roms-cannot-install-apps
Can anybody advise me which is the easiest way to make my HD2 working properly? Means have enough memory to do anything.
The purpose of restoring my HD2 is working as a router, tethering machine. I need to share internet from mobile network for smart TV and Tablet over wi-fi. It will be unattended so I need remote control access (team viewer host).
I'm open for a suggestion of changing the ROM if there is something reasonable easy and described (as I'm not big ROM expert). i've seen a ROM list for HD2, is too long.
Thanks in advance for your help.
it sounds like you are missing a data partition, perhaps the sdcard you used before had an ext4 partition which your new one does not have. Use recovery, in nand, to create an ext4 partition, then boot into rom, might work.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I did Ext4 by MiniTool Partition under Windows primarily.
And later in recovery, I have setup 1024MB and swap = 0 M.
It didn't help.
Should I mount it or so?
Update:
I have a look in log in nand - recovery and it's says that my second partition is Ext3 not Ext4.
And there is no way to change it.
What is your nand recovery? version?
Clk or magldr?
The recovery might say ext3 when it means ext4, but it does not seem right.
