Back when I had eclair my navigation was great. I would be cruising and I'd give me the arrow and a route to follow and the arrow would turn with the car. Now that I have custom froyo rom on my epic my gps works fine, but it wouldn't give me the arrow. It would just give me a map with the route.

Hi Guys,
Just a really quick question here. I have my telus HTC Touch still... I recently moved down to the states and now how the HTC FUZE. My Touch is still in great shape and I was wondering what your ideas were on how I could go about making it into a PDA with GPS running Tomtom or something like that.
I already have tomtom and what not installed on there (I used it tons when I was up in Canada) I just dont need the phone features really! So if someone could give me some direction on how to permantly shut off the phone features that would be great. Like I said. I like the thing as a toy still so to have it still be usefull instead of sitting in a drawer would be ideal. Maybe leaving it in the car as a GPS unit or something.
Thanks!
Aaron
edit.. and yes I realize that this is a Vogue but I rarely used the CDMA versions forum to discuss the phone
Well even if you haven't CID unlocked your Vogue, you can go into Comm Manager and just select the 'Phone' option, and leave it permanently in Airplane mode, and tada. No more CDMA antenna wasting precious battery life.
Then, just disable TF2D, to speed it up, and place a link to TomTom on your today screen, that about covers it doesn't it?
I'm thinking more along the lines of having even the buttons remapped so that the phone pad wont pop up. So when you press the call button tom tom is launched or if you press the hang up button another gps program is launched.. that way in order to actually GET to the dial pad I would have to open it up through the programs or something.
Is this even possible? Does anyone know how I would go about doing that?
I've discovered that my touch wont start up the GPS antenna. I left it sitting on the dash of my car as I was driving around. The service with telus is long since done and there was originally a hack on the phone that got it to get a gps signal in about 5 seconds from a cold start. It dialed into some server and bang.. worked perfect.
Now that I have no actual phone service on the phone it CANT dial into that service and there for it wont get a GPS lock. It's weird that the GPS antenna is tied directly to the cell antenna though. Kind of a downer cause now I literally do have a paper weight.
I DO have an external bluetooth antenna I could use but its a serious pain when compared to just being able to start up the phone and have GPS work.
I just replaced my Touch (P3050 Telus CDMA) with the Touch Dual (P3510). I'm currently using my old Touch as a GPS device. I have TomTom and AstroGPSLauncher loaded. GPS lock speed is about the same as before. Sometimes it was slow to lock or couldn't lock at all, but I also tried my Touch Dual and it had the same difficulties so it could have been my location, buildings, etc.
But in general, it still locks relatively quickly (between 5 seconds to 30 seconds). But I also found that if I disabled the phone, it goes into airplane mode and that mode also disables the GPS chip. It'd be nice to disable the phone, but keep the GPS chip/signal active.
Without AstroGPSLauncher, the GPS rarely locks.
Hope this helps.

Hello,
As everyone I have a GPS lag with my IGO 8.3 navigation software.
In the naviagiton properties you say "keep position on the way" you planned.
So is there is a fault in the GPS signal it keeps the arrow on the way
Is it possible with a registry key to, not oly keep the arrow on the way, but also put him 20 or 30 meters in front, so you reduce the GPS lag.
Thank you in advance.
have you encountered lag during Simulation or only in navigation ?
if you use a PDA you need find the settings about screen !
i lose the exact setting but when you check ON, a option like Screen always on or other like this after Lag appear...
i don't know if it s help you !
naviation
Hi
Only during naviagation.
But I am looking for a tric that pointers the arrow always 20 meters ahead. In combination with the option "keep position on the way".
ther must be a way to manipulate the GPs coordinates that are send to the navigation software.
Right now, when I turn the program on, nothing shows, just the default screen. Is it me or is there some issue with this program right now? Google Maps work right away though.
Ok tried to find out if this was common, saw a thread or two discussing possible toggle design change (to the location design) but as far as I can see that just switches on the location service which I really dont want. Even tapping disagree at the location notice there is no gps symbol in the bar at the top of the screen as before... cannot find the toggle in the swipe down bit either... how do we turn gps on and off as before or is that just not possible anymore...
ok if there is no way to turn gps on without using location now that the turn on gps button is gone, does anyone know of a way to make a button that turns on gps or is anyone trying to make one or indeed has made one... tia...

The icon of GPS changed in android 4.4.2 for LOCATION button.
COUNCIL: You can try to root ur device, install Xposed Framework and add the module: [KK] GPSNotification - Bring back the GPS Icon.

I have found that ok but it then switches on location which I dont want... if I select no to the share location blurb that pops up is gps still switched on?? my phone is rooted and thanks will looking into the xposed framework and do as you suggest...
Would like to know the answer to this issue, also if anyone knows how to change from high accuracy mode to use GPS only. I understand you can change modes by selecting it, however when I restart it defaults back to high accuracy mode.
Has anybody figured out how you "unpin" a "pinned" app when you are using the one button nav fingerprint gestures? Normally you would hold the Back and Overview buttons, but with one button navigation, these are occulted. When I have pinned an app I have had to restart the phone.
P.S. I am using Lineage 14.1 but I suspect that the answer to this problem (if there is one) would be the same for stock.
My Moto G5+ is running stock rom and I have one button nav on.
When I try to pin an app the navigation bar appears and then I am able to get back to the normal situation by holding Back and Overview. So the problem is on LineageOS I reckon.

Thanks it is also a problem on Resurrection Remix. The navigation doesn't appear. When the screen is pinned. So you have to reboot.
