better in what way?

Same here. I'm having much better results because of this. 31hrs later and I'm [email protected] 25% battery life. With moderate use.
Sent from my G2 , Running HTC sense.

Any more feedback? I'm doing a couple more power drains using Launcher Pro instead of ADW. Love the simplicity of ADW and really just want more icons on the screen, but since trying Launcher Pro I've tripled my battery life! Please be advised that my device is still relatively new though. Was getting 12 hours with moderate to heavy usage, but still only about 12 hours with virtually no usage which didn't make much sense.
After I drain my battery a few more times I'll try CPU Tuner and I will comment as well. Cheers, guys!

somone post a damn link to a video of the process u guys are using to get good battery life
The process is to get rid of whatever is using your cpu cycles while your phone is inactive.
Yeh damage control I now get 22 hours if awake time
B efore id get 18 hours of uptime.
Dc is the best I have tested then all. I get 34 wakeups in powertop. Do that test on any other rom you ll get 2 to 3 times that
I clocked 32 hours with moderate use. And I am using an app killer... but I just watched for apps that were CPU hogs and found replacements for them. There aren't too many that affect it so much to trade them out, but you might be surprised by your findings

No way I'm beating thee crap out of it. Dc limits higher cpu speeds with dconfig so if you have that option checked its slower but who cares I don't notice it saves batery like crazy. I'm on speaker phone conference calls all day. Bluetooth/gps on. Exchange sync as items arrive. Its crazy good I'm using syspannel monitoring ilk posy screenshoys, tomorrow.
L I ikesais, powertop gives me 30-40 wakeups. Some roms, are in the hundreds or thousands, but the proof will be the screenshoys tomortow, or try it yourself

haha, great name for it. i'm having better results too doing the charging circle jerk. 20+ hours with moderate to heavy usage
My battery life has been great since the 1.4x update... As an FYI the facebook syncing from 1.3x caused SERIOUS battery drain if you had it linked to a facebook account and had the HTC people widget on your home screen. I used 2 gigs a week while having the phone on wifi at home most of the time due to this bug!
So, at what point do I just throw in the towel and ask for a replacement battery from Sprint?
I've done the "battery circle jerk" twice, now, with no improvement. In fact, this morning, after completing my third jerk (battery jerk - get your minds out of the gutter), my battery percentage fell to 95% after 10 minutes of almost no use. Either this battery is bad, or the EVO has some serious issues with topping-off a charge.
^I have the same problem.
Losing thee first ten percent q quickly is very normal with this phone.once it his 85% it'll start to even out. Personally I've notice charging with the wall charger seems trio make this problem a little better

Vibrant + LauncherPro = reduced battery life?

I'm hoping I'm wrong, maybe I've had too much beer , or maybe just bad luck, but am I the only one noticing poor battery life while using LauncherPro ?
As much as I like it, it's the only thing that has changed on my phone in the past few days and now I'm seeing 8, maybe 9 hours battery life with actually less usage than before (I'm on vacation, I removed my Activesync push-mail account from the phone for this week) as opposed to 16 hours or so before hand.
So, is it just me?
Any feedback is appreciated!
I've notice the same with lp pro. Switched to awd.launcher and battery life improved.

Not here, I switched to launcher pro and usually get 18 hours, also using Juice Defender.
I'm gonna try Juice Defender without LauncherPro, see how much of a difference it makes, then switch back and test if it was a decent bump.

I haven't really noticed my battery use since I started using LP. Where can I easily check battery use by application (or what software will show this)?
so I'm using TouchWiz now, with JuiceDefender and I'm going on 15 hours uptime and I'm at 70% battery. Pretty light use tho, since it sat overnight with no use.
Been using LauncherPro since I got the phone. Not having battery life problems with it over default or adw.
When on standby (ie not using the screen), this phone lasts a pretty long time. But one you use that bright, beautiful screen it can use up some battery pretty quick.
That said, i've been listening to music on my phone for the past 7 hours, watched 42 minutes of a chuck episode, checked personal emails, browsed some websites, ran a speed test, and i'm at 25% battery now. Display ate up 64% of that battery loss.

Currently at 18h 14m on and have 68% left. Cell Standby is the top battery user with 36%.
I got the phone on launch day and have used TW half the time and LauncherPro half the time. I can't say that I have noticed any difference in the battery life since I started using LauncherPro. It showed up once in the Battery Use screen (it was at like 2%) but that was the day I was setting it up and playing around with it. Since then it hasn't made a blip on the radar.

ditto home slice!
I swear I was gonna do a write up on this today, but it looks I got beat to it. Last week I thought I was going nuts, because I too noticed better battery life while using LP. So, I decided to run a test these last few days. This past Thurs, and Fri I ran LP all day for the whole day, and got great battery life! I was able use my phone all day without recharging the battery once. This past Sat, and Sun I ran with TW with the same settings, and Widgets as I did with LP. The outcome was not good at all. On both days I would be lucky to get a half day out of my phone.
So, all and all this leads me to believe that something is up with TW, and the amount of battery power its pulling. To me it just makes no sense to me as of yet, but for now I'm just gonna keep running LP. Hope someone can shine some light on this, because I would really like to know why this is going, and what causing it?

I didn't want to mention that I kind of think that I am getting BETTER battery life with LauncherPro. I figured that it was partially due to the "new" wearing off. Since you broke the ice I will admit that I have a feeling that LP is easier on the battery.

Best rom for battery?

Hey guys, I don't care if the rom is Sense or not. I just need the best rom for battery life. Or best rom/kernal without underclocking or sacrificing speed. All input is helpful guys. Thanks
Nobody? Man is this forum dying? 4 months ago, this would be 2 pages by now.
I just got 46 hours up, 5 hours awake on rEVOlution 2.1 with the stock .17 kernel with the stock battery
I've pulled over 32 hours on Virtuous Sense with the customer Virtuous kernel. Granted I also have a Seido 1750 maH battery, well worth the investment though.
EDIT: I had approximately 15% life left at that check in also, so I could have kept going. Next time I'll take a screen shot.
im gettin pretty good life out of this combo
Skyraider 3.3.4
Chads kernel
also running superpower xda app turning off 3g on screen off
I also use the juice defender app. I'm a big fan of that.

+1 on that.
Excellent speed and battery life. Best quadrant scores I have had with any kernel. Even more impressive since it runs at stock speed.
Also pick up a 40% charge in less than an hour.
Myn's Warm 2 point 2 with Ziggys kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809985
This one is best for me. I don't have to put my phone on the charger most days until I go to bed. If I ever use GPS in the car, I keep my phone charging while using it, with moderate use I can get by the whole day from 6 am till I go to bed.
I run Uncommon Sense 1.1 with SetCPU and JuiceDefender; I've been able to pull off up to 35 hours between charges with the stock battery and kernel.

Juice Defender With Ultimate Juice Benchmark!

Hey guys im in the process of doing a little experiment to see actually how much Juice Defender with Ultimate Juice actually improves the battery life on my Evo4G. I'm sure this has been done somewhere else i just couldn't find it so i decided to do the experiment myself and post my findings this may be useful to some people or may not!
Phone: Evo 4G
ROM: Cyanogen Mod 6.1.2
Kernal: Zendroid BFS @ 1.52ghz w/ smartass scaling
Launcher: Go Launcher
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Phone running Juice Defender With Ultimate Juice
Phone Unplugged At 11:42am
Phone Died At 8:59pm
Usage: For the most part it was moderate use, no gaming, 2 calls lasting for a total of aproximatly 45 minutes. 120 texts were sent and received 146 within the time frame. There was no browser usage just mostly texting like i said. 3 Pictures were taken. No Wifi. Bluetooth or 4G used either.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Phone running without Juice Defender With Ultimate Juice
Phone Unplugged At: 2:50pm
Phone Died At: Never
Usage: Well my phone has been unplugged since 2:50pm and its now 12:35am and my battery is sitting at 55%. Weird... very weird. I had about the same usage as yesterday i played 1 game for a total of probably 10minutes and installed 4 apps. A had wifi enabled for probably an hour total.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Final Thought: I think Juice Defender doesnt help at all, infact it seems to hurt your battery more than anything. I think it may be because its constantly turning things off and back on consuming battery? Thats the only thing i can think of. Does anyone else have any thoughts on why this is? Using Juice Defender reduced my battery life dramatically it almost cut its life in half as a matter of fact. Please share your thoughts on why this is people!

thanks for the info. i try to tell people that juice defender doesn't help. but no one listens so i gave up and just tell them cool app and walk away lol.
very helpful post. I noticed too it doesnt seem to really help it just monitors mobile data and turns it off when screen is off and occasionally powers it on to download emails and ****. I dont like it because i like to kno when i get an email instantly versus it checking every 30 min.
I also found that juice defender seemed to have a negligible impact on my battery life while also decreasing speed of sync/convenience. You'll notice that it also makes android system skyrocket towards the top of the battery use list.
On a related note, I also found that setcpu profiles don't have an impact on battery life and may even hurt.
Ultimately, android is optimized to manage a lot of these things on its own and introducing an app that consumes battery both monitoring and brute forcing some of these activities doesn't make sense. The only active monitoring app I use now is Tasker for some specialized automation activities.
i cant believe this is an app that most people recommend to improve battery life tho. Especially with how much it hurts rather than helps. Very disappointing.
It has helped mine because I use the widget to manually shut it off and on. I don't let it control it. Since the epic doesn't have the shut off data in the power menu its good for me. Otherwise I agree with you all. I keep my data off until I need it to look something up. Personal preference. But hey it does shut my data off when I tell it to.

32 hours up and only down to 58%? Mind if I ask how you set thigns up that your phone is so energy efficient?
It was a great application, Donut times, it literally made my Magic 32a survive the day against the not-even-a-day battery life at those times. Nowadays it is simply useless due to android better app management.
Hmmm...I have been using this for a few months now and I've seen dramatic improvement in my battery life. I usually unplug my phone at 7 each morning and by noon on moderate usage days I'm at 60%. Using JuiceDefender, my phone is typically at 80%. By 5pm with its only at %60. Normally I would get home at 5 and it would be around 30%. Interesting.
Running Samsung Captivate
Stock Android Eclair 2.1
Rooted
Zeam Launcher
With more iterations of Android they are improving power managment, Ya back a little bit ago this helped some people alittle it closing out processes and way to handle things but with android development alot of this stuff is getting worked into the OS, basically now all your doing is running a app constantley that does something handled by the OS now in newer builds.
I wonder in some cases if the juice defender and the OS both trying to do power management if it can actually cause more power loss due to a conflict in the two trying to controll items. Of course OS should have higher pid but could cause some of your increased power drain using both
try the beta
im using it on my epic and my evo i think it helps both but i am also using the free beta i dont think the regular one works
i'm shocked there's even a thread for this. i put it on a stock epic and it made a WORLD of difference.. especially in locations where my signal was poor and evdo service kept dropping. my issues with it are of a different nature. seems to get corrupt alot and the wifi locations service sucks
Hmm, i'm confused on how this could actually hurt battery life, especially by the amount you displayed unless you have it doing all kinds of other management as well. I have mine setup to only manage the data APN, disabling on screen off, and seem to have gained decent battery life from it. The widget to toggle data on/jd on/off is very handy as well.
Pretty sure android doesn't do anything natively that turns off data when phone is at rest/screen off, does it? Someone please correct me if i'm wrong.
I will admit, the new versions of JD do seem to be pretty bloated and sluggish.. i've been on the fence of whether to remove or not... The main reason i keep it on my device is because i work in a basement and get about 65% TWS and severe battery drain from that. With JD managing 3G, it helps mitigate that somewhat, and having it be automatic is much more convenient than toggling it manually all the time.
I may have to join you on some testing, because if JD is not gaining me anything, i'll definately be removing it as it sometimes causes some initial sluggishness when turning the screen on. From daily usage experiences (and i watch it like a hawk), my battery life has definately not been made worse.. older versions seemed to net me more life, and i'm undecided on the new versions. Not enough time with it on/off to decide yet.
Most Def Work
JD helps... it will slow down notifications and stuff, if you need always on data then this won't help. However, during the day I'm usually already online and don't need non-stop notifications and if you use JuicePlotter you can clearly see that while sitting idle with JuiceDefender on you use significantly less battery than if you don't have JuiceDefender active and have it sitting idle.
for those that think jd works...
are you using the free, pro, or ultimate version? looking to buy if it really saves battery life.
which configs did you use? I had it a few months ago and my battery did actually improve. Trying some different settings makes a huge improvement.
I am using superpower now. (from XDA actually) And this is really working, it also takes some configuration, but eventually it will benefit your battery life.
Superpower turns data to 2g when your screen is off, disables wifi and bluetooth and sets your cpu to a 400mhz cap (at least with my phone) I noticed a 1% overnight drain and a 200% increase in battery life. (basically I do two days with heavy use vs. one day before)
Hope this helps some people!
The only thing that actually changes the battery in an evo is a kernel. No quick fix app is going to help how your system interacts with your battery! Senseui is garbage and it sucks up battery life like no bodies business!

battery issues

Has anyone having issues with battery runs out drasticlly. Charge it and then with in minutes its dead. Get a full charge turn it off and back on then its dead.
I had that problem with my epic after flashing a custom rom. battery needs to be calibrated if it was not flashed at 100%. you can download battery calibration app from the market place.
Ya calibrate will help the readings but don't expect amazing battery. I have the seido expanded battery and it still can't make a day of heavy use.

I had this issue on a few ROMs, specifically the Anonymous i3. I would charge all night and by the time I got to work (1.5 hours on the bus) I would have only 50% or less battery from listening either to Pandora or other music and with 4G off. It's infuriating. I have not calibrated my battery as of the moment, however I did go to the RandomRom and my battery life is phenomenal in comparison so I would recommend (and my recommendations carry no weight because I am nothing more than a casual user who only recently began rooting) looking at what you are running and checking battery drain on other ROMs.
Your specific issue is calibration. Its that simple, its misreading you battery status

I figured that was likely it, but never worried about it since I still got good usage without ever calibrating. The anonymous i3 is the only one that didn't have decent battery life for me. Random has been the best so far, gets me about 10 hours with basic use.
