Phone Vibrate and haptics don't work after updates - Fascinate General

Hi I rooted my fascinate, installed CWR and froze the apps as instructed in this post.
Root-CWR-MOD-
The I installed voodoo as instructed in this thread listed here.
Voodoo Install for Fascinate
After installing Voodoo almost everything works fine. I get a quadrant score of 1500+.
However my phone vibrate and haptic feedback is completely non functional. It is turned on under system settings. Any idea what could be causing this?

You probably flashed a kernel (with voodoo) that is for the DJ05 rom. If you flash DJ05 you will have the haptic feedback back or you will have to flash to a kernel designed for Di01

Thanks for the help. Yeah that's what I did. I disabled lag fix and will try to install DJ05 and hope that fixes the problem.

You will also need the DJ05 modem flashed via odin. I you want everything to work right.
good day.

[Q] Suggestions? com.android.settings Force Close Issue

Well, first post is troubleshoot post for me but need some suggestions to track down a small problem.
Had my phone for a while and have had no problems thus far till yesterday and i'm stumped.
Main Issue: In the settings menu when I click on "SD card and phone storege" I get a "Sorry! The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. dumpstate...yada yada yada---->[Force Close]
Every other settings entry I can go into and they all work flawlessly from top Wireless and Network to bottomSoftware Update. Only the "SD card and phone storage" force closes on me.
Last thing I did was apply Project Voodoo Update3 for Vibrant and it worked fine. I was able to check the SD card/phone storage section than. I temporarily disabled voodoo to get clockwork recovery to install and work properly so I could add the latest J16 MobileAP over my existing older MobileAP. Afterward I uninstalled clockwork. Somewhere in between all of that is when it started.
I let voodoo reoptimize back to ext4 and had the issue still. So thought disabling voodoo lagfix but made no difference. Turned off and on phone 3 times, Once without the SD card even inserted. Each time I still could not enter the SD card and phone storage section in the seetings menu. Always same Sorry! Force Close message. Just bugging me. Guessing some file may be corrupted or missing in data/cache or android settings.
If anyone can steer me in the right direction to fix than I will be happy as everything else work perfect on my phone for me. Thank you for your suggestions and thoughts. tryign to avoid wiping or redoing all my apps and settings and contacts/contact pictures etc for such a small issue.
For reference the phone has been for over a month now rooted & unlocked, t-mobile startup/shutdown logos removed, battery circular icon mod, most bloatware been gone for some time, Captivate camera app installed, J12 GPS files, J16 baseband modem installed, Mobile AP J16 installed working, did not want the whole J16 update. Rather wait for froyo or full working froyo builds later. Project Voodoo lag fix installed and running. SD card is a genuine 32Gb Sandisk not ebay knockoff.
Also in case it matters, I can use gallery and view files effortlessly, Market still installs and uninstalls applications just fine as well. So has to be something minor I would guess.
I'm getting that while setting the System and Ringer Volume (volume set via side keys work fine).
Odin JI6 (after dead OTA)
root (will probably unroot since no remount prevents removing startup/shutdown sounds)
ROM Manager loaded
Mobile AP loaded
Well, this is depressing. I tried going to system volume and ringer volume and also get the Sorry! [Force Close] their as well just as you do.
Maybe for me it is the kernel that is installed when you apply the Project Voodoo lag fix. What do you all think? Do you think removing the voodoo lagfix entirely and flashing the backup orginal kernel back on would resolve it. I don't mind but i'm really just not sure what to try before changing too many things unnecessarily.
Just fixed it. Found the cause. Since i'm not fully on J16 update; installing the MobileAP J16 version caused the problem for me cause it re does the settings layout it seems. Flashed back original MobileAP for while i'm on JFD still.
Just thought you would like to know and noticed that you also have MobileAP installed. Make sure it is the right version for your firmware...guessing J16 your on now.
I didn't apply any lag fix.
I may reload JI6 and see what that does.
Yeah, lag fix was not the cause. Definitely my fault installing the J16 MobileAP. Put back old version and I was fine. System Volume, Ringer Volume and SD card and phone storage settings all work again. But since you are on J16 maybe thought you installed old MobileAP on your phone causing your problem . But reapplying J16 update may fix it too for you. Good luck

I noticed there was a JI6 MobileAP version. I had re-installed the already downloaded JFD one. I installed the JI6 MobileAP version and no longer get a crash pulling up the volume settings.

[Q] process com.android.phone has stopped working

When I receive a call, I get this error and the call does not go through. I can still place calls, and sms seems to work fine both ways. I first noticed this running blackhole 4.01, I wiped cache and flashed superclean 1.0 to no avail. I am running the dl09 radio. Any suggestions?
You running some sort of theme?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Nothing more than what I named. I did have a voodoo kernel installed, but I disabled lagfix before flashing any DL30.

[Q] Superclean 2.4 EB01 call/email problems

Ever since I flashed Superclean 2.4 EB01 (yes, I wiped data/cache first), about once a day I will notice that I stop receiving voice calls (I know because I still get voicemail and notifications for them) and I'm also unable to send email through either the gmail or k9 apps. A simple reboot seems to fix everything, but after another several hours of uptime, I will notice the same problems. I have no issues besides this. Any ideas?
Any other modifications to the rom? Did you edit the services.jar file?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
No, I didn't make any modifications. I used odin to load the modem, then flashed the red cwm I also found here to flash the SC 2.4 voodoo ROM taken straight from Adryn's SC post. This was done over SC di01 which did not have this issue.

Soft reboots in Kitchen-Builds

This doesn't belong here, but my lack of writing stuff prevents me from posting this where it is supposed to be
If possible, move this post into this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115958
So. JV5/JV9/JVO builds from kitchen with CF and HC kernels cause soft-reboots on my SGS I9000. I tested all of them by now. Tried the Talon Kernel 0.2.1 with JV5 and JV9, which caused boot-looping.
So I kept reading and found out that I was not the only one having this problem, but it seemed to be solveable by flashing a stock JVO first.
I already had Gingerbread Bootloaders, flashed JVK a while back, so I tried a few no-wipe ROMs as I mentioned above. All with the same problem. I lost connection to my cell network and it didn't come back. Somehow connected to the WiFi, I suppose. I could reproduce it by getting a GPS fix. But that was more or less related to my phone using wireless networks for positioning, which means that it switches on WiFi for just a second but without telling me.
Anyways, I thought I might have been wrong about the bootloaders being the reason to flash the stock firmware, so I did as it said: it specifically said JVO+ in the tutorial, so I went through the hassle and did the following:
- Flash an entire JVO firmware
- Reboot
(that one took a while)
- Full factory reset via dialer code
(that one took a while, too)
- reboot again, this time into bootloader, to flash a hc-speedmod kernel, to have root access and CWM
- reboot again, into CWM, to flash one of the ROMs I tried earlier
I ran back into my old trouble. So this is not an issue of the GB bootloaders or a previously installed version. The phone keeps soft-rebooting.
I re-installed the stock JVO firmware and flashed the speedmod kernel again, rooted via CWM menu and now I am just recovering my important applications via Titanium. Nothing bad happened yet, and it would have, with any of the kitchen ROMs Trust my, I almost tried them all
Nobody else wrote anything on that, so I thought I'd let you know there's no need to wipe all your data (like I did) and hope for the soft-reboots to be gone.
There's something seriously wrong there.
Anybody else having the same issues?
Cheers.
Andreas
Yep, I had a whole lot of trouble with the Kitchen JV5 release yesterday, ended up giving up and goind back to Darky's 10.1. Mine would boot, and when doing a media scan, would soft reset itself. I could get it to work eventually by powering down before media scanner completed then powering up. Bit odd - tried three builds of JV5 with different kernels but they ended up all being screwy. Ah well, will see what JVP brings...
glad to hear that I'm not the only one crazy enough to wipe his entire phone for a new (and fast) operating system.
Anyways... I am now back to my old status. Re-installed most of my apps, sync behavior, BT devices, wireless APs, etc. blayallah...
JVO with a hc speedmod kernel is by far the best and fastest ROM I have run so far.
Kitchen builds are dead to me until some of the people who ran into the same problems as I did confirm that those issues have been dealt with.
Just for your information:
- battery life seems amazing, at least regarding to the sensor. Hope it's any accurate. Had it unplugged over night and lost 22% battery life with WiFi on in a bit more than 10 hours
- it responds VERY fast, compared to any other ROM I had before
- bluetooth devices have to be set up again, for some reason my phone doesn't like my headset any longer. I can hear people talk but they can't hear me. However, the microphone does work when I use my headset for text2speech. Weird.
Anything else seems just the way it was before. Just faster.
I'd be glad to hear if someone could still help me out with the soft-reboots, if somebody else decides to use the kitchen builds either way I won't until somebody else tells me it's working now
Andreas
Why would u need to SOFT reboot ?
I don't *need* to soft-reboot. It just does that. Modem crashes, lost network connection. The phone doesn't actually entirely crash, it just restarts the network service and your phone is going to be offline.
That's a soft-reboot. No entire system crash or kernel panic, just the modem crashing.
That does happen when things are messed up
I'm having the same issue: on a JV5 and JV9 RomKitchen build with a JVO modem, as soon as I get a GPS lock, the phone soft-reboots.

guys, why dont you try the JVP v7 builds, its much better.
also, please select the default boot animation, else it will go into bootloop.
I can confirms that doing a no-wipe upgrade to JVP v7 fixed this soft-reboot issue.
Thank you for that information. I'm not in a flashing mood right now JVO is running just fine right now. Anything about JVP v7 that's worth the try?
JVO is running fine for now. So I'm not feeling like flashing everything over again.
Is there a simple way to just dump my current phone status, its ROM and everything somewhere to my harddrive and re-flash all of that over in case anything goes wrong?

its pretty much the same stuff except very good speed optimizations, 2.3.4, and few UI tweaks.
its been the same since the first gingerbread leaks. we flash it for new builds dont we
...and now it's just pissing me off. JV9 Kitchen Build. On GPS Lock I get soft reboots. What the hell?!
Trying another one now... crap. I thought That would be fixed by now.
So. Kept me busy, just to be sure: Each and every combination I tried using 2.3.3 from the kitchen caused soft-reboots on GPS fix. The phone was very fast with the Talon Kernel and Ext4 FS, but I can't live without GPS
So I tried a non-wipe install over one of the not working 2.3.3 roms.
I'm on JVP now, not as fast as Talon, so it seems, but GPS works, getting a fix at my window within 5-10 seconds, no crashes whatsoever.
So. If anybody else experiences crashes like the ones I mentioned in the opening post, I can also confirm that the JVP ROMs seem to fix the problem.

...as much as I hate talking to myself, it's still regarding the same issue, so I have to ask:
Saw the new kitchen build (JVR).
Two questions:
1. Is the soft-reboot issue finally fixed?
2. Is there a little language-switcher-button on the bottom left of the swype keyboard?
I use the JVO swype, and it has that button, and the new ones don't seem to have it any more? It's really nice if you need to switch between two languages all the time and you don't want to go into settings every time you need to switch.
Anyone know that? http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQC6orm5ZMAju2VzczB3MCbwEPeSH9yrYI6wxfdDGFCvkdpe7lQRg <- that one right here has it. Took me a long time to find that, because no swype version but JVO seems to have that feature.
I'd be glad about any answers to those two questions.

I have tried the JVR base available in the kitchen---nothing to write home about, went back to STOCK--far better!I imagine the Kitchen as we used to know and use way back is now a thing of the past and the last nail was Tricky also leaving...

Guess that makes me crazy too
I've also been tinkering with customising ROM's myself to get to the boot-loop - getting pretty proficient at it now (guess I should read up a little more first)

[Q] Blinky/BLN for CM7?

How am I supposed to know I have a text or email without it oh god!?
OK life without it isn't THAT bad, but I do miss it. This is something the kernel must support right? I'm kind of hesitant to try a different one because whatever comes preloaded is so good.
I have used both. They work good for a while then BLN quits working completely. The Glitch Kernel doesn't require either to work. My device seems to run better with Jt's so it's a little give and take.
There is an app I also use called "Easy Reminder". No lights just tones and vibration but does work well.
No, I mean for both Blinky and BLN I get a "not supported" message. The mod isn't built into the kernel that comes with the CM7 nightlies.
I'm sure Glitch would work, but it's not nearly as stable (it actually softbricked me last time) and even if I try it out I haven't seen the "stock" CM7 kernel posted anywhere to fall back on.
Grab jt's v5 kernel from Rom Manager. It has the bln module (nelder's). After flash it will work. But if you shut down to change battery or something and boot bln will stop working. At that point reboot into recovery and choose reboot system now from recovery and bln will work. In the future if you need to reboot device rebbot into rec and reboot from there and bln will work.
good day.
