Voice & Data Same Time

My stock TMO HD2 does not allow data while using voice. Is anyone else having this issue?

gprs/edge can only be either data or voice. You shouldnt have this problem with 3g turned on.

It says 3g most of the time. I am in Chicago which has excellent 3g coverage. My TP2 never had this issue stock or cooked ROM.

I was under the assumption that only ATT had this capability.

Both T-Mobile and AT&T have the ability to handle voice and data simultaneously. I have found that the HD2 sometimes drops to 2g even though there is great 3g coverage here. I will say that the Nexus One was MUCH worse about this as it only allowed me to succesfully browse while talking one time over a three month period of ownership.

im in philadelphia and hav the same issuse now i know that the 3g server says voice and data and i hav seen sum things with data while in a call but not picture message i do remember seeing gps weather and facebook updates

4G problem

I did the fix and i am on stock updated all the way from one of the threads in the dev section and before 4G worked with the old radio but cut out all the time So i decided to do this fix and now the 4G connects for about a minute and it disconnects and i am in an area with excellent 4G coverage. So if anyone knows of a 4G connection problem in the Kansas City area please tell me or if it is just my phone tell me how i can fix this problem.
Edit: It appears that 3G cuts in to do data instead of 4G because as soon as it cuts out 3G uses data.
Edit 2: Now if I go in to Setting>Wireless & Networks>4G Settings It says fair - Poor connection, Assuming because i am inside, but i am not connected.
Edit 3: After disabling mobile data in the network settings it now holds the 4G connection well but now i have to wonder why 3G would over take 4G while it is on.

I been having 4g problems since the recent ota update. I hardly get 4g and it's considerably slower.. I'm running full stock with no root. What fix is available?

[Q] Why use 3G when you can use 4G?

I work at my local grocery store. Inside the store, there's little to no signal with 2g/3g...but when I turn on 4g, I have nearly full signal. I tried sending some texts while 4G was active, but they said it could not be sent due to not having 2g/3g signal. Same goes for phone calls. Does 4G really only apply to my browser/speed test? Pretty lame if you ask me. I should be able to send texts through 4G.
Is it just a setting on my phone?

You can't send SMS or Phone calls over 4g. The SMS and Voice rely on 1xrtt protocols which 4G doesn't support ATM. Give it time - its new tech still. At least you have 4g near you - i have to drive like 100 miles.

4g is data only. 3g is data only. 2g is voice and text. I'm not sure, but you may be able to send texts via google voice over your data connection.

I see. It's not a huge problem because I can still use Pandora while working. Muhahhaaha

One more question, sometimes tether doesn't pick up my 4G signal, is that a setting issue?

Internet Calling on Nexus S---Over 3G

Hi
One question
Is there any way to override the limitation of the native sip calling app and make VoIP calls over 3G on the Nexus S?
Until now I use local access number to do it on 3G but it uses my minutes from my plan...
I cant use google voice as i am not in the US....

yeah i'm sure if you root the phone and use cyanogen the SIP calling will be enabled over 3g.

confirmed, rooted running cm7 alpha3 and can make internet calling over 3g

No phone calls in 4g but

Hi,
I cant make calls or recive in 4g but I have full access to internet, When I force the networt to 2G it works (recive and make calls).
When the smartphone is in 4g and someone try to callme or I try to call someone the network to to 2g but it dont go to 4G after the call, I have to force the network to take de 4g.
I dont understand, I buy the phone yesterday.
