Hi guys, the issue I'm having is: I try to flash a zip file in clockworkmod recovery, but it always brings me to the four option blue text screen, always trying to update the update.zip. I can't get into the many option green text screen where i can flash a zip from sd card. I uninstalled & reinstalled, but it won't ever go to that screen. Can anyone help? Thanks.
How are you getting into clockwork? 3 button boot or app? Of its the app, then you done have a kernel installed that is capable of doing it that way. Try 3 button boot. Vol down, cam, and power..

I did the 3 button recovery, which brings me to the blue recovery screen where i can't flash zips from sd. I can't get it to the green screen recovery, tried from rom manager but it also brings me to the blue screen. I don't know what to do.
somthing got bunked up when installing clockwork,,,try installing the new 2.5.5 clockwork, this also has the redirector, which is not going to help unles your using an app to get into clockwork, but you might as well have the latest version, use the one click.zip found on here, sorry I cant link you to it at the moment, see if that helps.

I have a fairly new Nexus One whose power/hold button broke recently...i figured i'd google things up to see if there's a way to live with it. Turns out, there's an option to set the trackball as the hold button, but i read that it's only available for the Cyanogen ROM...
What I did (respectively):
-Rooted using SuperOneCLick (This definitely worked)
-installed the ROM Manager app
-installed clockwork recovery
-Nandroid backup
-booted into recovery mode using Quick Boot app on the phone
-Chose to install from zip in SD card and chose the the latest cyanogen for the Nexus one (6.0.0)
-Chose to wipe
-Installed Google Apps
-rebooted
Now my phone is stuck at the Cyanogenmod boot splash screen and i'm not sure what to do since my power/hold button is no longer working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've had a Droid Incredible (AMOLED) for sometime, Unrevoked Forever. Flashed many, many ROMs and kernels, and numerous recovery backups.
Picked up a Droid X yesterday (still have my Dinc). Rooted using Z41, and have permanent root. Paid for and downloaded Bootstrap, and had ROM Manager from my Dinc.
I've spent a good six hours reading the various "how to" threads and Googling, but I'm not finding the solution to my issue.
I can boot into Clockworkmod Recovery from within Bootstrap.
But, I cannot figure how to boot into Clockworkmod Recovery from power off state. When I hold the Home button while powering up, hitting the Search button boots my DX into the stock recovery, NOT Clockworkmod Recovery.
I guess my question is, how / is it possible to make Clockworkmod Recovery the default recovery when booting from power off?
Looking forward to getting to know the DX community on XDA.
To boot into clock work from power off...hold vol down then press power. Hold about 10 seconds. You should be good to go...

That is the method on the Dinc, which I'd tried. But, just now did it and released the power button after the Moto logo appeared and continued to hold the vol down, and there was the familiar Clockworkmod Recovery glowing green.
Old habits.
Thanks!
Cool, glad it worked. Was not sure about the exact timing though!

Well, so I flashed a ROM (ApeX 1.3 which runs well), but once again I can boot into Clockworkmod Recovery via Bootstrap, but cannot (or have not found a way) boot into Clockworkmod Recovery from power down, even using the above method that worked with the rooted stock .340.
Not a biggie unless something bad happens, of course.
Thoughts? The ROM? Me?

From Koush's website:
What if my phone won't boot? How do I get into recovery without the app?
When the hijacker runs, it will automatically create the "/data/.recovery_mode" file after it finishes. This tells the system that the next time it boots, it should boot into recovery. But, when the system starts, the Droid X Recovery Bootstrap will then delete that file when Android is fully started, to prevent you from booting into recovery. So what does this mean? If you fail to boot, simply pull your battery, and your next boot will be into recovery (unless your /system is *really* hosed, in which case you need to SBF).
I'd probably just press bootstrap recovery in the app every time you turn your phone on. So just in case you DO need it next time you boot up, it'll be there. Damn moto and their locked phone..

That doesn't do it either. Must be the custom ROM.
Somewhat OT, but you're right about the "damn Moto and their locked phone." Coming from the Dinc, I'm not accustomed to this sort of hassle. Having said that, altho I've only had the DX for a couple days (and still have my Dinc), I am liking the big screen, albeit not as nice as the AMOLED, and the really solid build of the DX--it's a good phone. Looking forward to the Thunderbolt...

Reboot your phone, when it's on the Motorola logo a blue LED will flash, when it does press the volume down button.
From there you can navigate to ClockworkMod Recovery.

Not through that menu, but using Boot Manager you can dual boot roms. Your base rom must be 2nd init, however.

Having same issue as poster above: Can NOT get into CWM recovery. (Also have Rom Toolbox installed, and I can't get into Recovery via that app, either.)
Running Liquid 3.2, and no matter what I try, I can only get into stock recovery.
EDIT: Was able to get into CWM Recovery from ROM Manager: Select Reboot into CWM Recovery, then hold VOL DOWN button while phone reboots. Voila! (Still doesn't solve original issue, but it's progress.)
i rooted using the terminal method on mac. i cant post a link it wont let me but its on droid life. i cant figure out how to reboot into clockwork mod or stock recovery i want to flash this new liquid rom i downloaded. can someone tell me how to do this or provide a link i can use to help me? thanks.
I also have sbf'd liquid 3.2. I've had a terrible time with the radio. Wifi works, it doesn't. 3G works, it doesn't. Market works, it doesn't. So, I just sbf'd the rom again but the phone is stuck in a boot loop. I need to get into Clockwork to try "wiping", but I can't get in. Seems like it's yet another issue with liquid 3.2. Anybody have any ideas?

After SBFing you won't be able to enter ClockworkMod Recovery. Use stock recovery to format data and cache.

I'm unable to boot into Clockword mod recovery as well when I choose to do so from the ROM manager... It just reboots my phone back that's all...
I'm on stock 605 and just rooted my phone - no boot strap or bootloader apps I've installed other than the CWM recovery 5.0.2.0 I installed through ROM manager v4.8.0.6
I'm able to boot into Stock recovery (Search button and then volume keys) but not into cwm recovery....
Any suggestions what I'm doing wrong ? I even tried volume down key during power up - doesnt seem to help. I dont see any blue LED either during the moto logo...
Thanks...
EDIT/UPDATE: I installed the Droid X bootstrap apk, Install bootstrap, and Reboot into recovery and that seemed to start up CWM recovery fine I guess ROM manager was not installing the right CWM boostrap... From the ROM manager I was selecting the Droid X, (had tried Droid X 2nd init as well as Droid 2 - didnt seem to make any difference that time)....
On blur roms you always have to use the Droid 2 Bootstrapper app before flashing ClockworkMod Recovery in Rom Manager.

USB Debugging
I was having a terrible time getting into any kind of recovery, Bootstrap, Rom Manager, etc., that is until I remembered something I read sometime back. I unchecked USB Debugging and then had virtually no problem with getting into recovery mode.
So, having said all that, check to see if your USB Debugging is checked or not. That might make a difference for you.
I installed the latest build of Cyanogen Mod 7 on MyTouch 4G, and everything went smoothly, but now my phone won't turn on at all. Nothing happens when I hit the power button. Not even a splash screen which I thought was weird. I have a recovery file, but if I can't access the bootloader/recovery screen, can't really recover it.
Any suggestions? I luckily have a backup Windows phone 7 near me (HD2), but I'm just wondering if the MyTouch 4G can be recovered.
Thanks!
Edit: Also note, that I can't do anything, including hboot, fboot, get anywhere. It will not power on, and looks like it won't recharge as well.
Edit #2: Uh..looks like taking out the Sim Card worked.
Have you try pressing volume key down and power at the same time to get into Hboot then scroll down into recovery and wipe

this happened to me earlier when i pushed/flashed/installed (whats the correct term here?) CM 6.1.2 on to my phone. i thought i did it right then i went to reboot and it just shut off. wouldnt turn on or anything. thought i ****ed up and bricked it. after taking battery/sd card/sim card out it worked though.
it was SO relieving.
Is CM7 not stable?
Battery Pull
All you have to do is a batt pull (no sim or ext. sd) and go into H Boot ( Hold bottom volume buttton and then power on button & hold until you see letters and release both buttons and you will be in H Boot) then hit recovery. If that doesnt work and your flash screen is stuck, go back to H Boot, hit recovery...wait for green letters up top, go down to backup and restore then hit restore.
I have the same problem
I tried to Flash the cyanogen mod, i followed the prompts i click the button where its supposed to go into recovery, then completely blank screen. I left it for 15 minutes then took the battery in then out but now it won't power on and shows no sign of life. PLEASE HELP ME. the sim card thing doesn't seem to work for me.

No, it doesn't power on or show the LED screen at all.
And also doesn't show up on ADB.

If you are flashing cyanogen 6, use clockworkmod 2..x. If you are flashing cyanogen 7, use clockworkmod 3..x
Not sure why some roms don't work on clockwork mod 2..x.... Maybe a limitation in a past clockworkmod which was fixed in a later version.

it's because clockworkmod recovery 2.x only flashes up to ext3 filesystems. the new clockworkmod recoveries, anything above v3.x has support for both ext3 and 4 filesystems. since cyanogenmod 7 has an ext 4 filesystem, the ROM will not flash correctly on clockworkmod 2.x.
Hello,
I need a bit of help with my nexus s. I was trying to install ICS on it the other day and something went wrong so it is now stuck at the google logo with the unlocked padlock underneath. I would just go into recovery mode but the power button is broken, now i can get into fastboot mode but for some reason i cant do anything in it for example the volume buttons dont move the selection up or down and obviously i cant select anything because the power button doesn't work. If anyone could help me out with this I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks,
Alex
Well you cant get into recovery except from the boot loader I think
If you can somehow manage to get the power button working even once, you should be able to fix your phone by flashing a new ROM, for ICS I first installed GB 2.3.6 and then went into the stock recovery mode, held power + volume up and selected the ICS update zip file, which I had renamed to update.zip
I hope that will help you if you manage to get into recovery, maybe send it to the company, or try pressing the button somehow I dunno, sorry :S

You can also try flashing a ICS compatible kernel using fastboot, that is if the kernel is responsible for you being stuck...
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I havn't had much personal experience, though you might be able to find some information searching around for flashing a rom via adb, or something of the sort.
been there before
what i did is, flash a Custom ROM like MIUI 2.3.7 then flash stock 2.3.6 and then flash ICS stock 4.0.3
I think this app will help you:
http://www.mediafire.com/?2jx8xtx2602hi23
extract it and click bat.run
if your phone is at the 'google' kernel splash screen, it should auto-boot the phone into bootloader, if I remember correctly, and if you use command line adb to boot into recovery you should be able to use the capacitive buttons to navigate & select so you can get a rom installed. back=back, home=up, menu=down, search=select
Hi, I have a really strange problem.
I had this build of MIUI on my phone for a few months, no problems
droidforums[.net]/forum/dro...-6-stable[.html]
but a few days ago, my phone started giving whacky battery readings (would drop from 40% to 5% in a few seconds) and i wanted to go into CWM to reset the battery stats.
So I had my phone plugged into my car charger, and when I booted into recovery, it didnt do anything, and the screen stayed black for a few minutes (I assumed it was out of power)
When it booted again, ALL OF MY DATA had been cleared and MIUI WAS NOT EVEN THE SAME AS THE ONE I HAD FLASHED. Same version number, sure, but completely different theme and boot animation. (I believe its currently the stock theme)
Well whats even wierder is that I have no data or wifi. Wifi gets stuck on "Obtaining IP address"
And whats even wierderer than than is that every time i boot my phone up, I am greeted with the android activation screen, no matter how many times I hit skip the set up
I obviously cant activate my phone without a connection
it also resets itself every time i turn it on. Any app that I install from my SD card will be gone.
It gets worse. Droid 2 bootstrap does nothing, even though it reports success. I cant use ROM manager as it has to install CWM from the server.
The reboot recovery option from the boot menu just reboots the phone, and there is no blue LED on boot that I can see to press volume down.
(Holding volume down gives me the android with the box and arrow, and nothing else, I know this has to do with recovery but not much else)
So can anyone tell me how to get CWM working again???
THANKS!
Does your MIUI have a boot menu? If it does you should see a light right before it goes to the boot animation.
