[Q] Unable to get into CWM and no service/WiFi - Droid 2 General

Hi, I have a really strange problem.
I had this build of MIUI on my phone for a few months, no problems
droidforums[.net]/forum/dro...-6-stable[.html]
but a few days ago, my phone started giving whacky battery readings (would drop from 40% to 5% in a few seconds) and i wanted to go into CWM to reset the battery stats.
So I had my phone plugged into my car charger, and when I booted into recovery, it didnt do anything, and the screen stayed black for a few minutes (I assumed it was out of power)
When it booted again, ALL OF MY DATA had been cleared and MIUI WAS NOT EVEN THE SAME AS THE ONE I HAD FLASHED. Same version number, sure, but completely different theme and boot animation. (I believe its currently the stock theme)
Well whats even wierder is that I have no data or wifi. Wifi gets stuck on "Obtaining IP address"
And whats even wierderer than than is that every time i boot my phone up, I am greeted with the android activation screen, no matter how many times I hit skip the set up
I obviously cant activate my phone without a connection
it also resets itself every time i turn it on. Any app that I install from my SD card will be gone.
It gets worse. Droid 2 bootstrap does nothing, even though it reports success. I cant use ROM manager as it has to install CWM from the server.
The reboot recovery option from the boot menu just reboots the phone, and there is no blue LED on boot that I can see to press volume down.
(Holding volume down gives me the android with the box and arrow, and nothing else, I know this has to do with recovery but not much else)
So can anyone tell me how to get CWM working again???
THANKS!

Does your MIUI have a boot menu? If it does you should see a light right before it goes to the boot animation.

Nope. nothing. not even su cat.jpg works

Is there any way I can avoid this? last time I sbfed it didnt work out so well

You could try a data wipe in stock recovery.

Actually, i cant even get into stock recovery. I see the android and the box after I press x, but pressing the search key does nothing and the search key works.

You have to press both volume buttons at the same time.

I did this, reset to factory deafualts, and absolutely no difference. I cannot find a single sbf file that is still up (megaupload and multiupload are the only ones I can find)
Can somebody please give me a mirror or give me a way to fix this?

Full GB sbf. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1505035

[Q] Blank Screen

So I just rooted my device and then tried to install a lag fix... when I rebooted my phone after the script, I heard the T-Mobile jingle and then it came to a blank screen. When I pressed the power button there was no response. If I press any of the white keys at the bottom, they just light up. I CAN turn my phone off and go into recovery mode.
This thing has kind of shaken me up so I am willing to go back to an unrooted phone.
PLEASE HELP!
Nandroid, my friend.
Since you are able to boot into recovery, do a nandroid restore.
If you do not have your own nandroid backup There is a thread in the Dev forum you can dowload one from. Just search "[ROM] OFFICIAL T-Mo Vibrant JFD ODIN/Nandroid Backup Images 7/29/10 (Tested/Working)" (I can't hotlink yet. sorry)
This is all assuming you have installed clockwork recovery, which you should have done before you attempted any modding of any sort. Also always remember to create a nandroid of your current system before trying something that is still in beta.
i got same problem here and a don't have clockwork recovery :-(
Then you have to use odin if you don't have clockwork...
My phones have been flashed more than Girls Gone Wild..

I think I found a fix that works...
I just went to recovery mode, and deleted all user data.
I then rebooted and still had a blank screen for about 10 seconds, and then my lock screen came up.
Worked for me! Thanks everyone.

Sorry to resurrect old posts, but I would like to know If after rooting and lag fixing it, it didn't show ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on boot screen and you were only able to hear the sounds and the buttons lit up...
I have a Vibrant on this situation and would like to know I this procedure can fix it.
Best Regards.
Just wait 10 mins if nothing do a battery pull...boot...wait another 10. It will boot after that. Had same issue on two vibrants.

Have i bricked my phone?

Hi. I were running a rooted stock rom with the newest radio and spl and ra recovery. I decided to try rom manager(i think thats what its called). I flashed the recovery, i believe it is called clockwork. When i rebooted my phone it just keeps rebooting at the htc logo. I cant enter recovery or anything. Is there a way out of this or can i just throw it in the dumpster?
Can you get into fastboot? Take the battery out and pop it back in. Then try powering on holding down back+power. You should get a screen with three Androids skateboarding. If you can get the port the information here. If you can and it just does the boot loop, do the battery again hitting the back button repeatedly, give that a few tries and see where it gets you.

Thanks for your reply but i cannot get into fastboot either. Ive tried holding every single key while booting xD. It just keeps doing the same thing. Reboot at the "HTC Magic" screen. I hangs for some seconds so ive also tried to see if i could grab it from adb but without success.
same incident happened to me. cannot reboot back at last sent back to htc centre.....

Did they take it back under the warranty? Did you mod your phone?
Do you get the blue led & black screen when pressing trackball + power at boot?
I get blue led but no fastboot or recovery

So that means your device isn't fully bricked - your hardware seems to be working, and you should be able to restore the device using JTAG (search the forums). Though I managed to restore mine by resetting some stuff with draining battery and repeatedly trying again. I'd recommend you to try too.

Did I brick my phone? Recovery possible?

I installed the latest build of Cyanogen Mod 7 on MyTouch 4G, and everything went smoothly, but now my phone won't turn on at all. Nothing happens when I hit the power button. Not even a splash screen which I thought was weird. I have a recovery file, but if I can't access the bootloader/recovery screen, can't really recover it.
Any suggestions? I luckily have a backup Windows phone 7 near me (HD2), but I'm just wondering if the MyTouch 4G can be recovered.
Thanks!
Edit: Also note, that I can't do anything, including hboot, fboot, get anywhere. It will not power on, and looks like it won't recharge as well.
Edit #2: Uh..looks like taking out the Sim Card worked.
Have you try pressing volume key down and power at the same time to get into Hboot then scroll down into recovery and wipe

For the longest time, I couldn't power it up until I took out the sim card. Which I finally figured out. I'm doing the wipe right now, thankfully. I'm trying to figure out now what I did wrong...
Thats gotta be scary im running cm7 now had no problems flashing any of the builds knock on wood lol

this happened to me earlier when i pushed/flashed/installed (whats the correct term here?) CM 6.1.2 on to my phone. i thought i did it right then i went to reboot and it just shut off. wouldnt turn on or anything. thought i ****ed up and bricked it. after taking battery/sd card/sim card out it worked though.
it was SO relieving.
Is CM7 not stable?
Battery Pull
All you have to do is a batt pull (no sim or ext. sd) and go into H Boot ( Hold bottom volume buttton and then power on button & hold until you see letters and release both buttons and you will be in H Boot) then hit recovery. If that doesnt work and your flash screen is stuck, go back to H Boot, hit recovery...wait for green letters up top, go down to backup and restore then hit restore.
I have the same problem
I tried to Flash the cyanogen mod, i followed the prompts i click the button where its supposed to go into recovery, then completely blank screen. I left it for 15 minutes then took the battery in then out but now it won't power on and shows no sign of life. PLEASE HELP ME. the sim card thing doesn't seem to work for me.

No, it doesn't power on or show the LED screen at all.
And also doesn't show up on ADB.
wrong recovery image
If you are flashing cyanogen 6, use clockworkmod 2..x. If you are flashing cyanogen 7, use clockworkmod 3..x
Not sure why some roms don't work on clockwork mod 2..x.... Maybe a limitation in a past clockworkmod which was fixed in a later version.

it's because clockworkmod recovery 2.x only flashes up to ext3 filesystems. the new clockworkmod recoveries, anything above v3.x has support for both ext3 and 4 filesystems. since cyanogenmod 7 has an ext 4 filesystem, the ROM will not flash correctly on clockworkmod 2.x.

Completely screwed up defy

Hi,
while I wasn't paying attention, my phone apparently was in a long state of booting/bootlooping. I finally noticed it and after some fidgetting with taking the battery out I decided that I wanted to update my phone (which had been in a quarx build from around the start of this year, I think), so I wiped the cache, not realising that I was not in the extended CWM bootloader but in a far simpler one. After my phone rebooted it was completely different and I was constantly told that the gapps package and setup wizard both kept ceasing to respond. My launcher, trebuchet, is also gone, and the only things I can access are the drawer and the time/date settings that are in the drawer. Everything else is off-limits, it seems (although I somehow did manage to get into wifi settings once, however I lost it after another reboot while trying to activate debug mode to restart into proper bootloader mode). I can't get into play store, no file browser can be reached and ADB doesn't seem to work either (no way to go into debug mode). I'm thinking that my only hope is the update.zip function in the bootloader but I still don't understand what exactly that is supposed to accept, I tried to rename a new quarx build to update.zip and it did not take. Also, the USB transfer mode from the power+vol up combo seems to do nothing whatsoever so I can't do anything through that either, I fear. What do I do now? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Leandros
You are confusing stock recovery with custom recovery. Custom recovery can be accessed by pressing the volume down button when the led turns blue. Flash rom from there

I'm afraid not - I pressed loads of button combinations and I never got any other menu, even though I've had root and various versions of CM for well over a year. I fear things have worsened, though, as I tried to fix the problem myself using RSD lite. I guess I used the wrong sbf and now the only responsiveness I get out of the phone is the white led flashing for a fraction of a second when I press the power button or plug the phone into a charger. Am I screwed?
If you can access bootloader, flash a sbf which is closest to your initial version. If unsure, and wish to remain on ICS+ custom roms, flash dfp 231

I flashed it and now it won't even boot :/. When it's plugged into the PC the led burns white, when it's in the AC charger it just flashes shortly when I plug it in. I'm fairly certain the battery isn't empty as it certainly wasn't when it all started, but is there a way to find out? For instance, do the other two terminals emit a certain voltage when it's charged to a certain level?

I9505 bootlooping & not booting

Galaxy S4 I9505
Phone was second hand to me at the start of this year, though had been well looked after, always in a case etc
I flashed it with the newest stock ROM in January this year
I9505XXUHOJ2_I9505BTUHOJ1_I9505XXUHOJ2
& rooted with CF AutoRoot
It has worked fine until about 2 weeks ago, when it randomly shut down. After restarting, it kept bootlooping.
Left it off & charging overnight, & the next morning it booted ok. Managed to use spotify for a few hours.
Then it started bootlooping again, sometimes getting all the way but then crashing after a few minutes.
Managed to boot into recovery & do a 'wipe cache', that didnt fix it.
'Wipe data' didnt fix it
Have flashed the PIT file & ROM (via odin), no errors in odin, done it twice now
wiped cache & data
still wont boot past the white splash screen, only sometimes boots into recovery
(also, only the menu button lights up, not the back button.)
I've checked the power button (clicks & dosnt stick)
Dont think the batteries the issue (charges fine, dosnt get warm, isnt bulging)
What else could stop it booting?
Have you tried booting into safe mode?
Safe mode, from what I read, can be accessed by holding the menu button while the phone boots.
But you should also do some reading about it, in case I'm wrong.
The other idea would be to try a custom ROM.

Can't boot into safe mode
(& having read up on it, it would only not run apps that arn't already in the ROM)
Any suggestions for a custom ROM
& why would it work when the original official one won't?
Well, it's booted far enough to get into android & add a google account, then it bootloops again.
Then after leaving it off for a while, it will boot & let me look at settings etc, then bootloop
however
the menu soft key stays lit all the time after a boot
the top half of the phone, around the camera, gets very warm
Does that indicate it's a hardware issue?
Could it be the battery?
If it's the top half warming up without you doing anything, it's the motherboard.
Boot into recovery and and let it stand by, see if it reboots.

The battery can't prevent the ROM from booting. It would have to turn off during the boot, which it doesn't. So, by my logic, it isn't the battery.
Try official CM.

Its the only thing i didn't tried till now, my phone crashes and reboots everytime during boot.
