!SOB! Just lost my HD2, advice 4 new cell. - HD2 General

Ok so here is the thing I just lost my HD2 and its gone for good. Now which device should I buy? Name me few.
BTW should I have the IMEI blacklisted? I know some prick found it and won't give it back, even left msg and sms saying ill pay more than the phone worth as I have Biz phone numbers. Also had this phone months b4 it came out in USA

Samsung Galaxy S or Nexus S.

YES !! Get it blacklisted why give someone else the pleasure of the device? Especially someone who has had to essentially steal it to own one.

Eh...
get another hd2? I did.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

If you were running android on a daily basis, just get a desire hd! Way faster and better touch screen is enough.
If you wanna stick to winmo I guess another HD2 is the only option for you.

I admit the Desire HD is a bloody good device and a friend of mine has one but i wouldn't claim it was that much faster and the screens are not all that different. The desire does feel alittle bit better in the hand though in my opinion.

Yeap, desire HD and moto droid x (cdma though) for android
HD2 for winmo
don't go for the Samsung I9000, it'll get really frustrating trying to find a decent lagfix which you'll have to "root" the phone b4 and it's battery is worse than HD2 running android off of sdcard (mainly due to the s-amoled screen)(oh, and it feels like holding a toy phone which is great for weight and shock resistance but not thtat great if ou like to feel your device, like me!!)
As for the Desire HD I think it doesn't have a scratch-proof screen like the HD2 (which is not that... you know... good for you)

Yeah it's not like getting into heaven, but the HTC Sense is as fast as launcher pro, which is fast.
What I meant with the screen wasn't the screen quality, but the touch.
The HD2 is very bad att multitouch even with two fingers (!!!, and this is the reason I changed my HD2 to desire HD), while the desire HD can handle two without problems, even three and to some extent, four fingers (pretty much how HD2 handles two fingers, which it does very badly).
But the screen itself is just LCD, no real difference there.

Well believe it or not I had Desire HD in mind but ATM as they have Desire Z, which would be better? Is Desire HD even 4G (HSPA+) capable? or is only in G2. I also had my eye on Droid X but as it being CMDA I didn't want it but the spec is +1 on HD2 on Desire HD, or should I just swtich boat to Sprint and get the Evo 4G. Help me deside guys :O Help me decide guys :O as I am basically handicapped without my phone. Who would have thought how dependent we became on it. I know I can always count on support on XDA members.

R.I.P. HD2, the ****er who got this is super happy ATM as I tweaked this HD2 to the max.
Update:
-------
So WTF is the point of getting Desire HD in USA when you can't even get 3G as its dualband, more phone guys Desire HD is out as it did look better than HD2.

You should have installed some security so that you could remotely backup/wipe/disable the phone.
You could have also set it to automatically wipe/disable phone upon changing sim card, its very unlikely that somebody bad enough to steal your phone will have enough knowledge to hard reset, plus you could get IMEI blacklisted as you say.
You could have even tracked teh phone via GPS
PS. Sorry to rub it in

Ya I know the thing is I just flashed my rom 2days ago and most thing is not installed. ATM I don't care about the phone as I can buy it but I have few numbers which is lost which is very important and I didn't have time to back it up. But the data on the phone itself is backed up 3x.
Within 2hours we called the phone like over 200+ times from 8-9 numbers along with text messages. So the prick who did find it later shut it off and swap the sim, I hope karma gets that mofo and someone break his ****ing legs lol or get run over by a bus. I even offer to pay for the phone and for them to get here and even give extra. But the prick chose to get his early XMas gift.
I was watching my text message and recent calls waiting for the mofo to call or send msg to somewhere so I get the number and contact it, but the prick must have fall asleep as it happend like after 2am. BTW I am aware of the GPS tracking, huh made no sense when I always had it on I didn't lose it lol when I lost it I didn't have it installed.
ATM yall help me get a new device, money is no issue as I am welling to pay $750-800 for phone which has to be revolutionary, as for HD2 I got it months before it came out in USA. So don't worry if the phone is not in market yet I have connections and my ways of getting it
Desire HD < no 3G in USA
Nexus S < screen to small, wtf 5mp cam? 15gb storage?
All the TMoUSA lineup for the current top device has very useless spec's and the phone looks fruity. ATM I don't want to pay money for HD2 as I can buy better phone with better spec. But man ill miss HD2, this phone changed my outlook.

Oh dude thats a sorry tale. Could cry for you.
Oh yeah I'd want to track the phone so I could have one of them "discussions" with the MF thats got it.
I think you're double unlucky - I honestly think most people these days try to return phones. My wifes a liability and lost hers twice for very nice local folk to ring up the last number in the history. Everyones got a phone that wants one - you've got to be picking peanuts out of poo for a living if a phone you've found has any value to you. Console yourself with what a peasant the twat involved must be.
Saddest thing is that 16 months on from launch there's nothing better out there since the HD2 runs it all. Aside from a certain very new OS that you wouldn't want to migrate to yet. But that it will soon probably.
You just can't beat the versatility of the HD2 - probably never be another phone like it.
RIP your phone and hopefully the MF too.

if i was you ! i would effin try my best to catch d prick n get the phone back......cos i have done it in d past...too....

Believe it or not I have actually returned an Evo 4-5months and HD2 just 2months ago. Also tons of cheap phones so idk wtf karma is punishing me for. This is what happened me and my girl was at the bar we were little drunk so we took taxi and when I paid the guy thats when I left it on the seat. Soon as I got out of it I realized I left it and I waved my hands but he didn't see it, now I could have ran but my girl was other side of the street and the ****ing bus came, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan and then I had to make a choice lol so I ran to my GF. This is bunch of bull crap so within 1min she called the taxi operator and the dude from Lost/Found send message to the cab driver by then he reported he picked someone else which is near HardRock casino and when he checked it nothing was in it. So I guess some ****er lost money and saw that sign from god lol.
Ya I also agree with you that HD2 is by far superior in the lineup even today and 6.5.X you can't even beat with my tweaks. The ****er will show it to his friends and kids would be like "OMG" why don't my HD2 act this way. The stupid ****er will see it as GOD wanted to have this phone lol. This is all BS now I am at my recent call logs writing down phone numbers for incoming/outgoing.

On this occasion its a sad indictment of human nature - very often like we've said its a refresher that most people are actually honest.
Don't lose the faith over it buddy.
I agree 100% too that WM6.5 with mods dumps all over Android - you're talking proper sense. It won't even landscape properly in the car for gods sake.

well if is the police same as in europe tell them taht you lost your phone and the guy who found dont want to give it back then they ask for your IMEI and they will track down the phone and push him to give it back to you....thats how it works in Europe.... you can try it i think they will find it

Ahh i feel for you bro, I was so angry when I lost my HD2 at work, luckily a mate found it. Somehow it had fallen into my sainsburys bag which had rubbish in it, which i then threw in the bin lol. when i got the phone back it had coke in it. Still works like a charm.
Off Topic: I happened to drop my phone in the bath (Yep fully submerged, with soap) touch screen didnt work for FOUR months, then one day I turned it on because of a mate and VOILA, phones works as normal and the speaker is LOUDER lmao. This phone must have 9 lives in it.

Well the GSM carrier in USA don't blacklist IMEI but they can still see it when call is made as its registered. ATM I am shopping for new phone and Desire HD has no 3G, wonder if it does HSPA+ which I doubt. Don't want to go with Evo 4G as I don't like CDMA based and has to go with GSM based phones. Most new phones I see has ****ty spec's.
What about Dell Streak 2?

Try the police as i told you they will track down the phone and push the guy to give it back to you...

Dude I know you are trying to help but I am in USA and in here they don't care. I mean what I don't understand is this phone is 1 year old and since then I still don't see one decent phone.
HTC Desire HD < EU based.
HTC HD7 < Good luck with that ill pick HD2 over it any day.
Nexus S < Are you kidding me what type of crap spec is that?
Driod X < New carrier and CDMA
Evo G4 < New carrier and CDMA
HD2 < Don't want it again
Vibrant < Will pick HD2 over it any day
GSM is lacking phones ATM even 1 year after WTF.

TC,
Why are you trying to sell your (broken/faulty/stolen/illegal) products here?
Good day.
in the picture you can clearly see it's not broken especially in the second one where the device is actually on... That was a very ignorent and prejudice post... if you're not interested... then ignore the post and go away....
Never make assumptions
because you will be an ass and the umm... will shun you!

TC,
It's nothing personal or prejudiced. It's called common sense. Something is clearly wrong with the phone. And it's also because of common sense (in other people) that you still have 2 remaining, as opposed to having already sold them all in your initial advertisement in which you were told specifically not to post more than one advert.
So I maintain my position, something is wrong with the phones and you're trying to minimize your loss by selling them off cheap.
Good day.
ok.. nothing personal
well yeah... so i posted something a couple days ago and sold one already? ok
and im sure the mod meant one advert that day... obviously posting so many in one i can udnerstand would be a problem... but if i come back a couple days later to repost shouldnt be wrong.... should it? especially if the other post is forgotten by my standards
also... im unsure on what you mean by cheap? how much do you want to pay for it? the reason i have so many are due to impulse for good prices... ive seen them go on ebay for a lil over 600 brand new... mines are used so i think im giving a competitive price

ebf_flores,
Alright, I'm curious then. Why exactly do you have 3 X1i-s to begin with, and why sell them off now? And what are their production weeks?
Cheers.
bought one when they were first released in America for about 800
last month saw a deal to get one for a lil less than 600 hundred and had to get it dont know why cause of the price (sold my ipod touch and sony mylo to get some money for it)
then a friend of mine saw them and decided he want one so i got one for him but then the time the thing got here he decides he cant afford so i stuck with it
now if i tell the reason im for certain you will use it against me... right?
the last two I have say 08W46 on the back under the battery... the one i sold was 08W44

Like I said, it's nothing personal. Now that you've explained more on how you came to own so many X1is, I take back my initial post and apologize if I came out as rude and offensive.
Good luck trying to sell them then, it's unfortunate that you have those production weeks. Whatever the reason you are trying to sell them for, I know it won't be as good as it can be, so if you'd rather not share it, that's fine.
Cheers.
understood... although it was a bid rude in my opinion but i guess i misunderstood your point of view
well there's no cracks on them by the stylus or on the battery so i dont think i got any of the bad ones... i can take pics if anyone wants to see em
well... my reason is i crashed my car (Audi A4) and semi totaled it.... i got another one (salvage... missing transmission) bought from New York and while i was able to afford the car itself... shippin from new york to my location is about a grand and something so i need to let these go to recover the cost

Sprint refurb full of previous owners info!

I feel like I need to get this off my chest, so my apologies of this isn't in line with the technical nature of this board.
I RMA'd my Hero a few days ago due to a blown ear speaker (sounded like a bee trapped in there whenever anyone talked), and was sent a refurb Hero that had a broken trackball button. The csr assured me the Hero had no trackball or center button (!!!) and after arguing with him that it did, he finally sent me over to Advanced Data Support or whatever they call it, where they agreed to send me out another Hero. That one arrived today, and refused to accept programming. After 45 minutes with support they finally got it to work by having me manually program it. The previous owners phone number, Sprint email (which is their full name), and city were all in there already, as it was obviously never properly reset at the factory. When they had me make a test call, voicemail, it dialed the old owner's phone number, and I actually spoke to them! When I explained it to him, he said "ohh...uh oh..." like he was pitying me for having his old phone. Out of curiosity, I googled the name, which revealed their myspace and facebook pages. I find this breach of privacy disgusting. Why is Sprint leaving so much personal data on their refurbished phones?
And I'd bet good money the other refurb I was sent, was originally sent in because of that damn broken trackball button, which they ignored and sent right back out as refurbished.
Maybe I'm overreacting, but right now I'm really disgusted with Sprint. Disgusted enough that the EVO looks a lot less enticing than it did a few days ago. :/
Thanks for reading.

Well, that's not very reassuring. If you don't already have one, I'd consider getting an account over at Sprint Users and putting it there as well. I'd not be happy having my phone go out full of my information!
Wow, this is really funny. I would definetly post at Sprint Users or Sprint Community Forums. Wonder if it is possible to wipe that data our selves before sending it back in. Seems like it would be difficult since Hands Free Activation pretty much populates all that info on the phone for you the first time you boot it up.
i hate the fact sprint takes these broken phones, fixes them and passes them off as new. the hero isn't even a year old and their doing this.
I had to get a refurb just this past Monday and before I took in my old phone I made sure to delete EVERYTHING. Although I really don't think it would hurt me too much for someone to be able to steal my identity.
This isnt something you would normally see. I had to edit what I was about to post. But phones are tested and remanufactured with new parts before being sent out. I would recomend if there is one close to you using a service and repair center for replacement rather than having them send one over the phone.... and you get the added bonus of not having to deal with the RMA kit

At no point ever, is an Advanced Exchange ever talked about as a "new" device. Every piece of literature anywhere says its a refurbished phone.. And a tech that tells you different is a liar..
Here you are again spreading lies to get a skewed point across..
I'm ashamed of myself for posting this because I'm so against it but this sounds like a case for bricking before submitting for a replacement.

Yeah, that's pretty much unacceptable. And it's not the first time it's happened, I've read about this before. I would call the news. Seriously. It's newsworthy. Maybe if Sprint feels a little heat on this issue, they'll be a bit more careful with their customer's privacy.
why would you brick a perfectly good phone because there is someone else's info in it? that's ridiculous. you can do into settings and factory reset yourself and you're good to go. no sense in killing a perfectly good phone for no reason....

I've read before that user data is stored in the mtd5 file or in mtd5ro. And i dont believe wiping clears out /dev/mtd/mtd5 and mtd5ro. But as nebenezer said you can always brick your phone, or possibly try
Code:
adb shell
rm -r /*
to delete everything. If you really wanted to.... or just delete the mtd5 files, if they actually are where userdata is stored.
So here is the thing.
When the phone is booted up - It polls the tower and says "HEY I'm MEID XXXXXXXXXXXX" - Then The phone says "HEY I DON'T HAVE ANY DATA WHAT THE HELL DO I CONNECT TO" and the Tower answers back "HERE IS ALL YOUR STUPID DATA NOW STFU" this is all of the login info and other stuff associated with the phones owner. The phone can now poll the tower for SMS, Calls, blah, blah, blah. THIS IS CALLED HANDS FREE ACTIVATION
Given overly simplfied.
Even after a phone has been completely reset out of the box brand spanking new. If the MEID is tied to a customer the phone populates automagically with that information. Thank you Sprint for this wonderful invention (which I think Verizon actually started)
So there really is no way to get all of your data off the phone since the phone will attempt to poll the data from the network once it is booted again. You need to make sure that the MEID is completly disassociated from your account to prevent it. Something Sprint has obviously failed at here.
Questions? None? Ok Good.
Kcarpenter, thanks for the explanation. The first phone I had did exactly that, immediately after booting it provisioned itself. The second phone however, did not. It just booted right up the home screen, where the HTC time/weather widget was already populated with the last known location. It appears the phone was never even turned on by Sprint after it was sent in to them. That raises even more disturbing questions regarding their refurbishing process. :/

The Process is very broken. I have heard this happen more than once.
In fact a story about me:
I bought a used phone from US Cellular, it was one of their "30 Day phones" that was only used for 30 Days by someone who didn't like it. I purchased the phone they set it up gave it to me. I got home and started playing with it and sure enough there where pictures on it of people I didn't know. I thought they may have been demo pictures, but I'll de damned if one of them was a naked black chick and another pic of a naked black dude. (not racial just not my thing). I was furious. I took the phone back and told them what had happened. They said it was impossible that had happened and the pictures where mine (Skiny pasty white guy) I had a few issues with this phones a few days later. Randomly dropping calls/signal/error messages. So I took it in to have it looked at. The water damage sensor had been lit up. No way this was my fault - the phone never left my desk at home because the damn thing didn't work worth a ****. They said this had to be my fault because they check this stuff before they sell the phone again. So I was out 200 bucks for a broken phone with pictures of ugly ass naked people on it.
Lesson Learned:
Drop US Cellular if you have them. If you ever by a used cell phone Check it thorughly for kiddie porn and water damage.

I'm about to rage on Best Buy for Zagg install

So I went to best buy a few hours ago to get a screen protector for my newly replace Evo. Sadly there was not much of a selection so I went with the Zagg invisible shield one. As I as about to go to the front to pay the mobile person said that he could install it for me if I wanted for $7. I said ok why not I hate installing screen protectors anyway. So he got it on and it was crooked so I told him that it's no good. He tried again and used more solution spray. I got a little worried about the amount he was using and told him maybe that's a little too much spray. He said don't worry it will be ok. Well flash forward to now, I just turned on my Evo and guess what? Solution leaked under the screen!!! I'm about to flip!

Yeah that's some **** you need to be on / get back on.
And I mean GET THE **** BACK ON. Like, some HELL NO ****.
I mean, BB is full of idiots - this we know - but **** like that .... pssh. LOL
Get back in there and explain that ****. And MAKE SURE they don't send you out. WIthout being physical and overly abusive - verbally I mean.
**** like that is what gives these places - and their employees - a bad name.
internet tough guys are funny so is gangster talk

Cheesy is CHEESY!
Honestly, sometimes it takes a push ... a verbal push, if you will. You know how many people probably have other people put screen protectors on - for whatever reason - and they just suck? And they just walk out with em?
Just being real.
There are people that won't stand for horse **** ... and there are others that will. It's not about "appearing" tough here or there ... it's like getting anything applied / installed and it not being right but "dealing with it." Shouldn't even have to ask. ****ing say something. LOL
Internet tough guy aside ... and you clearly jumped the gun.
Thanks though, I've seen you post before.\
edit: on that note; do you do anything but post bull**** and / or ask questions?
Honest question.
Because, honestly, I see nothing but - and in this case, nothing but a half decades old picture and bull****-run-of-the-mill-every-other-god-damn-forum-thread-post picture. And dude, you really did use that prematurely ... the bandwagon you're jumping on - this "internet tough guy" **** that has been going on for a while - AROUND HERE AT LEAST, is starting to get out of hand. In the way that people are starting to "diagnose" too much as such. It's a Forum. You clearly don't show up looking to impress the English Majors. Most folks are not worried about spelling errors and "complete sentences." Most, read; the majority - and even the people you admire and adore - couldn't care less about that ****.
So you post your cute pictures.
I hope you like mine.
Please, in the future, if you are going to TRY and be demonstrative ... don't post bull**** before the fact. Or at least as often as you do ... because, well, just ..... no.
If you couldn't install one of those by yourself kinda your fault bro... nit a hard process. I had one for months. It got mucked up underneath took it off been without it. No scratches. I'm on a dinc but same idea. It isn't needed

True.
But, to be fair ... those "liquid" applicators can throw a first timer for a loop ... or whatever.
It can be daunting because you don't know how much / little to use. And I've seen people go overkill with that ish.
That being said ... yes, do it yourself. That's the best way. I mean, these assholes' as BB know little more - if anything - than you do. At least when it comes to their "mobile department."
With that being said about that being said ... should you be so worried, I've heard of others having them do it and when / if they **** up then they are obligated to grab a new one and begin again. If I saw dude doing the same one over and over I'd say something ... can never be embarrassed to question someone who should know what they're doing.
It was like a kid, asking someone to cut out a cut in their griptape ... once I started to work a shop ... **** that, I nailed it or if dude asked for something stupid I said do it themselves. Always worked. I mean, your average consumer can only be so competent.
Make sure the solution isn't just under the protector and will evaporate in a day or so, I've heard that in the past referring to these type of accessories.
i would try using ghost armor. its the best screen protector out there. i had my whole evo done in ghost armor. they use the same material on helicoptor blades to keep it from chipping from flying debre. and you get a lifetime replacement as long as you have your phone. google it for a store near you
Same thing
Happened to me, left a visible shadow like mark on my screen for over a month, out did eventually go away completely,
I also left fingerprints on it so I went to the mall and a zagg booth replaced and installed for only 5 bucks
Zagg makes a good product for protection, it does however seem to yellow after time, of course that could be the oil in. my hands doing that.
Also the feel of it isn't as smooth, it kinda interferes if your a swyper like me.
In closing I will say my phone doesn't have evan a blemish on it, looks as good as it does second week of launch.
Swyped from a galaxy far far away......

Just Received HTC Desire HD

well i was in a law suite with HTC for the issues i was having with my HTC Desire issues so i received a new desire hd for all the issues i went through even though HTC took a year to settle lol
so do you guys like your Desire HD
Congrats on getting the HD. Your going to love it. Im delighted with my one.
I got mine on 2 days back. I am loving it with Gingerbread sense.
Sent from my Desire HD
congratz.. now go to DHD dev and flash the gingerbread rom on it..
+1, then you never look back on your desire anymore
lol that statement is so true i cant put this phone down, lol as well i have not touched my iphone in days my buddy has a iphone 4 as well and he was blown away by the htc Desire HD i know the GPU is not all that but what i use it for it is amazing he just fell in love now he wants one
I must be the only person who doesn't love this phone, its not that I dont like it, its just that there seems to be a lot of issues.
I got mine on Saturday, it was a Vodafone UK upgrade, and coming to this from the orginal Desire has been a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT
The one thing I noticed as soonas I took it out of the box was the seemingly sharp edges around the screen area, the phone itself is sluggish and the screen can be very non-responsive, I cant for the love of all thats almighty get the HTCSense to work - in fact cant even create an account, cant download Locations, the GPS wont work because it says it cant find the satellites even when I'm outside, and the list just goes on.
I loved my original Desire and chose it over the iPhone 4 and thought this would be the next step up buy boy was I wrong. Chances are Ive just got a bad one, but its hasnt half dented my confidence in what I originally thought was a great brand.
As I said, I had the phone as an Vodafone upgrade through Phones4U in the UK. Are they likely to give me a new phone or will they make me have this one repaired? To be honest, I dont want it repaired I just want a new one.
Suggestions please
It sounds like you got a bad one. You could try a factory reset and see if that speeds it back up to normal. If not I would suggest they change it for you. There are plenty of YouTube videos showing the normal (non-sluggish) speed. If your one doesn't match - ask them why it is so slow.
My 2 cents.
I would suggest the same as Grant Barker, sounds like you've got some kind of issuse!
Factory reset is always an good idea! ;-)

IANAL but distance selling reg's should cover this, you are entitled to reject the phone within seven days, personally I would speak with Phones4U as i have found them very helpfull in the past if no joy there try speaking to vodafone aswell.
But it does sound like you've recieved a lemon, even if I did find SENSE slowed the phone down over vanilla android.
1st thing I tried was a factory reset and to be honest, I think its made a blind bit of difference.
Thanks for the heads up people, I'll let you know how this progresses.
you will have to contact the company and explain to them u have a DOA

Same sh.t realy same sh.t.
Baterry cover, plastic frame with scratches and in the middle of screen big looks like somone try to pull it off.You can see parts inside!!!
Was canceled !!!
No HTC in near future! Nono!
Is this fault of HTC TW? or Phone4u UK is selling some sort of 2nd quality ****?
Welcome from the owners of SHD.
Sense is really nice, I think.
With other Nosense Rom's i took less pleasure to use my phone.
In addition, drivers included in HTC sense, allow the phone to be much less energy.
Otherwise, you must hack the kernel.

Parents--teaching them new technology is a pain in the a--!

My mother and father (69 and 70, respectively) have had very old and basic flip phones from AT&T Wireless for several years. Well, their service basically has sucked, and their monthly rates are way too much for what they have. So, my dad decided to do a major upgrade and get smart phones for him and my mom. Moreover, to save money--they're both retired--I recommended they go on my Sprint account and we get the family plan. I live 30 minutes from them and get a nice discount of 25% from Sprint, so everyone's overall costs would be less than what we currently pay. Plus, with a great promotion this week, I could get them a new HTC EVO and the Samsung EPIC at a total cost of $99 then two $50 rebates. Net cost = a credit of $1! Nice.
My mom demanded a slideout QWERTY keyboard; hence my recommending the EPIC. She didn't need the phone rooted, so I left hers as stock. I rooted my dad's EVO so his would be like mine and my sister's, whose I just also rooted. My brother in another state has a nonrooted EVO.
Well, I got the phones in Monday, worked on them yesterday (rooting, putting apps on, setting up some things for them, etc.) and today went to their house to sit them down and play Smart Phone Teacher for a day (well, for a few hours at least). As expected, things didn't go as I had hoped. My father? No big problem, because my sister can always help him since she has an EVO (she lives with them because she's a single mom, so she's there to assist him).
Well, got home about an hour ago. As I expected, it didn't go that well with my mom. She has all the patience of an ice cube in a frying pan set on high. My father is playing with his rooted EVO and seems to like it (he has always been a techie sort of guy, though he always ends up calling me for technical support--crap).
My mom just may be a lost cause. I was at their place at 1:00 p.m. I gave each of them their phones and tried to explain some basic stuff (what Android is, what these phones can do, etc.). Of course, my dad ignores me, toys around with his EVO, then just walks out and leaves to do other things. I remain with my mom to try and tell her how to do some stuff on the Epic (set up and check Emails, add contacts, make phone calls, send/receive text messages, go to the Internet, add/use apps, etc.). Of course, it didn't take her long to start *****ing about how she has "no patience for this crap." So I simply yelled at her and said, "Then learn to have some patience for a change and get into the 21st century!"
Within a couple hours, they had to leave for an early dinner engagement with her sister and brother-in-law (my aunt and uncle). Upon my parents' return, I was still at their house finishing up putting Warm2.2 on my sister's EVO and having dinner with her and her daughter, my niece.
My dad walks in and I hear him yelling at my mom, "...well, you can't get the old phone back. Learn how to use it!" They walk into the rec room and my mom tosses her phone down on the table near me *****ing, "Take this phone back. I don't want it. I don't have the patience to learn this!"
To this I retort, "You're frickin' retired. You have plenty of time to learn how to use it. You're just being lazy and not wanting to learn something new. Take the phone and the manual and go to your bedroom. Read the entire manual like you're reading a book so you can see just what the phone can and will do. When you're done, start playing around with it."
"I don't care. That won't work. I hate this touch thing. It doesn't work for me," she replies as she picks up the tossed phone and starts pressing wildly all over the screen. Of course, I have to tell her that she has to use the touch screen in a recommended manner. "You can't just go pressing anywhere on the screen to scroll around, because sometimes there's nothing to scroll or nothing to respond on the screen," I advised her.
I then reminded her that as a woman, she can't use her finger nails. She can use the slide out keyboard for that. I downloaded and installed both Iris and Vlingo for her, telling her that those apps might help do certain tasks that she otherwise would do using the touch screen or keyboard, but then she *****ed about having to learn those.
Unbelievable.

I told her that she had 14 days to decide if she wanted the phone. If not, then she'd get some basic flip phone with no Internet, no Email, no cool ring tones, and limited text messaging, among other absent, nice things.
Her biggest problem, again, is that she simply has ZERO patience (I'm not talking a little; I mean absolutely NONE). She won't listen; she won't pay attention; she assumes everything; she finishes my sentences when I try to explain things to her (it's like I'm playing a game of Mad Libs); then she *****es when she can't figure something out.
If I become anything like her, someone please--shoot me.

this has to be the stupidest topic I've ever seen on here. How disrespectful can u be to the woman who birthed u. Someone delete this crap.

I had several browser tabs open on this forum (was working on multiple topics) and wasn't paying attention to the section, obviously. I requested a mod move this, as I hadn't intended to post it in this section.
Hey! I'm getting old. Sometimes I can't multi-task that well.
interesting topic. thanks for the enjoyment darth . either way anyone responding to this topic with "why post this in this development section" is dumb enough to state the obvious.

I agree. That's why I've Emailed the mods to request it be moved, so people, enough. I know it was mislocated.

My parents aren't typical senior citizens. They admittedly don't look or act their age. They're in remarkable good, physical condition for their ages. Well, maybe my mom's impatience is more typical. Who knows?

Do you feel proud coming here spewing your tales of douchery and disrespect towards your mother? Have you considered the fact that not everyone can grasp the advancements in technology as fast as you? You should be ashamed of both the way you acted towards the woman that birthed/raised you, and the fact that you actually came here to tell us about it.

to those saying his disrespecting his mother get over it lol i found it rather amusing a and to the jerks saying why is it a in a dev thread come on once was all that was needed he explained himself on why it was here it happens. but i feel ur pain my grandpa is 100% lost when it comes to anything hell he can barely work his dvd player lol and my grandma isnt to much better with the tech she has. she got a reg flip phone and couldnt figure out how to answer it for like 2 weeks haha.
Thanks, CK. The sooner a mod can relocate this thread the better. Pay no attention to Kommodo, who obviously has no sense of humor. He/she would have to know my mother, because my father and sister both agree that she's being ridiculous.

First, its Kommodore not Kommodo. Second I have a sense of humor, but not when it comes to bashing your mother for not being technically minded. You said yourself that they had a basic phone for years. And yet you think that only after a couple of hours of training she was going to be an expert?

Wow, sexist much?
You are the one that needs the patients, not you mother. I had a similar experience with my parents moving from the Razors to the Evo. I never once spoke to my mother in the tone/language that you have. But after a couple of days she was calling me telling me how she used her phone that day.
