I bought a used MyTouch 3G with the 3.5mm jack. Everything seems to work, except for connecting to either of my windows 7 pc's. I have the oem usb cable that came with the phone. When I plug it in, Windows says the usb device is not recognized and is malfunctioning. I attempted to install the drivers that come with pdanet to no avail. I also installed htc sync. When I plug the phone into my computer, it starts charging, but the taskbar message on the phone does not show it as connected to a pc.
Any ideas here?
try another usb cord?

Try to install the USB drivers that come with the Android SDK?
(I don't think you need the HTC sync stuff for that).
Depending on what ROM you are running, or if it was made by some paranoid network provider, you might not be able to use the phone as a modem (tethering)... I've heard that some network providers disable the tethering feature...
With CM ROM, I've had no problems tethering over USB in: Windows Vista, Windows 7, Ubuntu 10.4 (Windows XP didn't work at all).
You have to enable the tethering feature first on the phone before it will work (I'm not talking about installing some app from the market, I'm talking about the built-in setting: settings-->wireless&networks-->tethering).
Have you tried mounting your SD card to access it as storage device over USB?
If neither tethering or USB mount wants to pick up when you plug the cable in, I'm guessing your cable is bust or your phone...
Have you tried the same cable on another PC?
Are you using some dodgy USB add-in card or USB hub on your PC? Did Windows 7 install the correct drivers for your USB controller on your motherboard? (do any other USB devices work on your PC?)
same problem HTC my touch 3g
I have a google tmobile htc my touch 3g 32B 2.2.1 android and under vista i have a load of usb problems device not recognized. have tried many many things still nothing works. called htc they told me to call ms. perhaps some conflict with the device. problem rooting it with sapping and gold card method and sapping as well. any suggestions?
Maybe you have a corrupted misc partition :0|
just restart your phone... it will surely work

Hello.. i downloaded and installed Darky's rom on my Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 it maybe isn't associated with Darky's rom because it worked after applying it.. but as of few days back i'm unable to get mass storage connection, nor Kies recognizes my Galaxy..
when i click mass storage on Galaxy, and click 'Connect USB storage' i can hear sound it's recognized on my pc, but two drives do not appear on my Windows 7 and i'm unable to do anything!
i tried mount unmount external sd card, i tried debugging usb mode, nothing helped. i downloaded, installed and uninstalled latest Kies, nothing works. Please help!
anyone? ......
Remove Kies and all Samsung driver s reinstall .
Backup data and factory reset .
Remove deadly rom .

I've had problems in the past with crap aftermarket data cables. I never have a problem connecting with the stock issue one. But even then, if you hit the install driver button in the tools section, complete the install and unplug and replug the cable, this can also help connecting with the aftermarket ones.
And I know this may sound dumb, but did you uncheck the USB debugging and put it on the home screen? Just a thought.
usb cable works. i tried factory reset and reinstalling kies.. it appears all drivers are ok as shown in screenshot:

however, i'm still unable to remove my rom, and still cant access mass storage mode. it's not working with kies either ..
HELP!
come one guys
I have the same problem, nothing on google that helps
try using the stock launcher, not the one from darky's
since kies won't be able to connect if there are some other processes running in the background
let me know if it works
edit:
im running Darky's 10.1 and i just connected on kies using the stock launcher as i suggested
just force stop "launcher" and start using TWLauncher, afterwards you will be able to use Kies
Cheers!
thanks for the reply,
In the end it worked, I just had to disable / enable the phone from the devise management...
like this
"
Start Kies, put phone's USB settings in Kies mode. Connect your phone to the PC. Wait until MTP App show "Connected". Go to your PC's Device manager, find Portable Devices and select Disable on GT-I9000. Do not wait for the disabling process to be completed, just disconnect the USB cable. Now connect the USB cable again, wait the MTP App on the phone to show you the message "Connected" and choose Enable on GT-I9000 in Device Manager. After a few seconds your phone should be ready in Kies
"
PS: found the answer on this forum...
Kies won't install the MTP-USB Driver on my computer. There's always a warning "driver software wasn't installed". It works neighter on W7 nor on XP.

When I connect my phone with USB-Debugging enabled I get a message from Kies: "Reconnect your device in the Samsung Kies-(PC Studio)-mode again. The current connecting mode is not supported by Kies."
I'm sure you have already tried this....but have you plugged the usb cable into a different slot? preferably one at the back of the Pc. My phone wont sync with Kies if I have it connected to the front slots.
Still doesn't work.
Open kies.
Instal drivers from the menu.
Wait until it says complete. A couple of times it did not bring up the instal dialogue box. Keep trying until it says drivers installed.
It will then work. I had this problem on both xp and win 7. This sorted it.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
It installs the drivers. The problem is, once I uncheck the USB debug mode and reconnect the phone it installs the drivers again and fails.
Plug your phone into the PC, turn off USB debugging & select USB tethering. See if it installs the driver that way. Also do this while your PC is connected to the internet, when/if it fails leave it plugged in the PC and check windows update to see if you need to download an update for the drivers.
Still doesn't work. I did a Windows Update.
Gerät entfernt means device removed and Fehlgeschlagen means failed.
Guys its simple.....i was also facing this problem. just unchecked USB debugging mode....and try to connect again. Its Done.
Another useless thread...

Please Help Guys i really want to install Android!!!!!
Did you have USB connection before? If yes, the driver should be in your system.
To flash HSPL, you should go into bootloader mode with your HD2 (push vol. down and power at the same time while starting the device), and next step would be to connect to the PC via USB.

ya i have USB connection ...(driver means any HTC Specific driver for HTC HD2)
and i have done (push vol down and power at same time) but the serial appears at bottom of the screen and after attching USB to pc nothing will happen it stuck for whole time
Different usb port, use one around back of the PC, not one in the front or hubs or usb extensions or anything, it will only work in the ports directly mounted to the motherboard. Also, when it times out, don't touch the phone, just run hspl again. Keep trying different ports. Noneed to keep restarting the phone, just leave it in bootloader.

Restart a PC might help or else reinstall USB Driver (HTC Sync)
doesn't matter which os do you use either win7 or xp or vista - just use not the port which is giving you an error use the other one try it again if it fails just close your antivirus or firewall while using that flash tool it might help!
HI,
I'm facing an issue while trying to update my LG G2 to 4.4.2. LG PC Suite cannot see the device when connect with PC Suite mode. There is an icon in the phone notification bar saying Phone and LG PC Suite are connected via USB cable. The PC Suite itself keep trying to connect and after few seconds, it will show this pop up.

I'm not quite sure why the PC Suite keep asking me to install MTP driver because I can see my phone in the window explorer and device manager, I can transfer files between PC and Phone when connect with MTP mode, I can tethering the internet connection ... basically, I can do everything I'm suppose to except connect with PC Suite. Any idea or suggestion are welcome
Some Info
- My LG G2 is runing 4.2.2 (D80210e-ESA-XX)
- I'm using Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013
- Bootcamp with Window 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
- This is my first PC Suite connection with this Macbook
- But, I've been using it to transfer files (with MTP) and share internet for few months so far (still able to do so at the moment)
- I can connect to PC Suite MAC but it always failed to connect to update server so I have to try with window.
- I think cable and USB port is fine since I can do file transfer and connect with MAC PC Suite.
Same problem...
The same issue, but I had been using PC Sync for a month on Win 7 flawlessly before I have done (F)OTA upgrade to KitKat on LG G2. Since then I could't estabilish PC Sync connection with my phone. On the other hand I'm still using MTP for normal acces to device storage. Trying reinstall drivers and programs for 2nd time to get it solved with no effect. Have no clue what's wrong. Have anyone reported bug to LG with any response?
+1
the same problem. my phone will show only bettery charged and nathing elsa
any luck ?
Any luck for some of you. I am having exactly the same problem.....
thx for your help !
I am having same problem... cant connect with PC suite or OSP or LG Mobile support tool
Why the hell do we even have to his a 250meg "PC suite"? Why cant we just mount the damn thing as a USB device like every other phone/rom?
If you're still on KitKat just use On Screen Phone, that usually works no problem. I could never get my phone to connect to PC Suite, not with KitKat or now with Lollipop.

I recently bought a Nexus 7 (2012 - WiFi Version) on eB*y, the Device is Rooted, ROM is CyanogenMod-NIGHTLY-Grouper.
When i tryed to connect the Nexus 7 with my Laptop and PC it started to charge (but verry, verry slow) and i Windows says that the USB device cannot be identified (also i cannot install drivers for it becaus it cannot be identified) Fail-Code is: 43. I tryed it on Win7 Desktop PC and on a Win10 Laptop but no chance.
Also i tryed to install a Factory ROM via Recovery Mode (from SD Card) it says: Installation aborted.
I really dont know what to do now? I think it is the USB Flex Cable, what do you guys think?
Sorry for my bad English.
Hope someone can help me here.
On your Nexus 7, search for a setting called USB connections and ensure MTP is checked.
On your windows PC, Control Panel > Device Manager, go to your broken Nexus device, right click and update the driver for it... Select you want to install the driver yourself. Then it will ask you to browse to the driver, but underneath that you will have another selection along the lines, "select from common driver list". From there, look under portable devices and select either MTP Storage or MTP USB Storage. I had the same problem and only MTP USB Storage works for me.
For ADB and Fastboot stuff... Search these forums.
Hope that helps.

Don't forget to try other USB cables.
Just use the Nexus Root Toolkit and follow the easy wizard to completely setup the N7 on your PC:
