Hi guys. i have a problem with my galaxy.
While i was playing a game my phone froze( not the first time), and i took out the battery to restart it, and now its stuck on the Galaxy S screen( the white one)
I cant get into recovery mode (I dont know why because befero this I could enter it), I can only enter in Downloading mode.
Can i do a clean install with odin if I have voodoo instaled? because it says in the guide to disable lagfix before flashing.
The ROM im using is Darkys 5.2, if this helps
Thx
You should be okay doing a reflash with Odin. Try that and report back. Just glad you can get into download mode which pretty much solves all problems Also this should be in general, please don't post on development for problems.

Ok Fellas! just got my phone last night, rooted it installed the stock froyo JK4.
I come from htc desire so my recovery was bit different installed rom manager & got cloworkmod 2.5.1.2.
Downloaded a rom on phone, rebooted into recovery, but this recovery has purplish text instead of green & there is no install from SD. I cant think of any thing at the moment can some one please help, I wanna install some other rom, other than the stock froyo. PLEASE HELP.
You need to install clockwork revory if you go to the rom manager application there will be an option to flash clock recovery right at the top when you open the application hope this claers things up
yep i did sir, but still there is no option to install from sd, it only allows me to install as update.
from teh rom manager im selecting Galaxy S I9000 for clockwork recovery and it successfully downloads and when i press reboot into recovery its still takes me to the purple screen....i think this means that im not able to get into clockwork recovery any help.??
you have to select 'install update.zip' the first time, this will install clockworkmod and then you can proceed.
The problem is your using 3e recovery and cwm will not work with 3e.
To get 2e recovery you will have to use odin and flash a kernel that has 2e recovery, I suggest hardcores kernal as it comes with cwm already , from there you can install what ever custom rom you want using.the update.zip or installing zip from sd.

the best way to get clockwork working on i9000m (personally i believe)
is to flash the kernel for Speedmod... you should see it in development forum... just flash that kernel with odin
and your recovery will work fine

Hey man thanks alot, do you mind pasting a link here. If you kindly can please and thanks again.

There are a few things i could suggest.
1. Keep your flashing to a minimum if you have the i9000m. There is a high probability that your phone's memory card is defective and you'll ruin it by accessing it more often. Froyo broke lots of bell phones, and being a rom junky means more flash activity. I am on my second phone, but some people are up to their fifth. Flash a good stable rom and dont go too crazy flashing after that
2. download ODIN, and most 3rd party kernels have 2e i think (http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2010/11/samsung-galaxy-s-download-speedmod.html) - pretty sure speedmod does. voodoo also does, all kernels can be found in the dev section easily
Just make sure you download the ODIN version of the kernel and not the CWM file, because since you dont have CWM already, you'll not be able to use it.
There is a problem with USB mounting your sd cards on your pc without patching, since you are running a stock 2.2, so you would need the patch unless you go to a 2.2.1 rom
3. 2.2.1 runs nicer than 2.2, but i havent flashed to a JPY because i am paranoid about my second i9000m dying before i get a backup phone . You may want to flash a jpy mod (like doc rambone's, or darky's), but if you have battery life problems flash a different modem, like the JK4 modem used in bell's latest official rom

Oh crap! really, i think imma sell this phone rite away then, cus coming fro desire im a rom junky. I guess this aint the rite phone from me.
Yeah, there are massive known problems with internal memory on these phones. I'm already on my second, and if i have more issues, i'll be buying the international i9000 from ncix.com. same phone, no internal memory problems.
hi,
info : bell GT-i900m
rom : darky's 9.2
so heres my problem. my phone crashed yesterday so i removed the battery and then when I launch it back i got stock in the Darky's boot screen. I was also unable to go to CWM to update to the last version of Darky's rom so i used odin to flash the original 2.1 and now whatever version of the firmware i try to flash on the phone install successfully in odin but i get a "Galaxy S GT-9000" that appear in loop every 5-10 second until i remove the battery. I still have access to download mode....
anybody have a solution ? should i install a stock rom and go to warranty ? or should I just trow it 2 second in the microwave so they dont see that i installed costum rom ?
Sounds like corrupt and faulty movinand. Send it back for warrantee. Don't even worry about what rom is on it, it's a hardware fault. I sent mine back with a half booting custom froyo with speedmod, they didn't care. If you want to be safe, just flash a stock rom quickly. Don't microwave it...
Sent from xda premium app on i9000m.
thanks a lot i'll send it to bell tomorrow
Can you boot the stock 2.1 you installed through Odin?
Flash jpc with repartition.
Flash jl2 on top. If that still doesnt work, then its most like the good ol' faulty chip.

Flashing the JL2 on top/after JPC is done WITHOUT repartition!!! just clarifying that, learnt from reading on here and helping a couple of people with them, lol.
(the i9000m's don't like repartitioning and flashing done at the same time, needs restart between them.. not a clue why, they're "special", lol.)
Flash Boot and spl.bin with heimdall. This is The solution.
It is definitely your bootloader.... flash jl2 firmware but there is a fixed one somewhere here on xda as the one from samfirmware is missing dbdata. Worked like a charm for me. (I also have it on my laptop somewhere pm me and ill find it) then you should flash superoptimized kernel or speedmod kernel via Odin with reboot unchecked. You should have recovery back. I've been through this issue and spent hours trying to get back to normal.
I have a few files to get you running if you get stuck....like I said just hit me up with a pm

Click on the below link, this might help you in getting back your tab to stock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
hopefully you know how to use Odin. You can odin back to stock with no problems bro. Future advice... never flash a kernel unless you know its compatibility with the rom your running. You can always ask first. Someone will always answer your questions here on xda
i downloaded the stock rom but it's in a zip format, how can i use that on odin? i thought odin only used .tar
Can you the zip onto the tab? If so just flash it from cwm. If not check here
If you took a nandroid prior to flashing the kernel on the tw rom you can do an advanced restore and restore just boot. It worked for me when i had that problem.

I've flashed the Bonsai & Touchwiz Roms, and a kernal. Now, when I first turn on my Tab I get the "noisy screen" too. I'll wait a minute or so, and the screen will change to different noise two or three times, then the Samsung logo comes on and everything is cool. Just wait for it... if it takes excessive time, it could be some type of bootloop. The bootloops I've had don't occur in the 'noise', but rather, on the samsung logo screen... it'll keep playing the power on sound. The only time I got the bootloop was when I tried to flash the kernal over the touchwiz update... bad idea.
Good luck... don't be scared.
thanks guys, i found the 3.1.tar and flashed it with odin and now am using the TW rom.
i did a backup this time and now let's go out playing with this amazing product.
Hi everybody, i got a nice big problem with Onecosmic's 4.0.3 RC2.
I flash it for the first time some day ago and all works good, yesterday i need to restore as factory by the menu and then..it is witch off!
My smartphone now:
If i plug the device to usb it doesn't do nothing, sometimes the little wheel appears , sometimes no.
If i press the central button appears again.
If touch the back and menu button they switch on.
If i switch on the device appears the logo Galaxy S gt i9000 and the color of picture of boot for 0.01 sec and then switching off, sometimes it reboot endlessly.
And then, i can sent my mobile in Downloading mode (Menu - Vol DWN - PWR) but i can't sent my mobile in the other mode (Menu - Vol UP - PWR).
Please i need help cos i really dont know what i can do
Onestly, is my first big problem with costum mod :s
EDIT: I fix up my phone, i need use Odin for flash stock rom and a .pit file, i think it is a good BUG report for One cosmic's 4.0.3 RC2. I can't post in dev. forum
This is a bootloop not a bug. Way too many people without a clue flashing ICS at the mo.
One moment, i dont like it. I think it is a bug or something becouse i went in setting and the i touch on restore data as factory (oh, i dont know the right translation cos i am italian) and the mobile phone bootlopping.

Let me know when you have some news I fix up my phone with Odin, flashing a stock rom and original .pit file but, as you can read, i lost ICS. I think i will waiting for a Stable release
This is a good site for troubles
ics.samsung-updates.com/trouble
see:
Phone is in boot loop
can't get to Recovery (I9000)
Put phone in Download mode and use FixRecovery.tar.md5 in Odin as PDA, uncheck auto-reboot option.
After flash reboot to recovery with 3-button-combo and CWM flash proper ICS kernel and reboot
For trouble after follow instructions from HOW TO FLASH section proper for Your device

Once you flash a ROM, whichever it is, you have to be very patient and don't panic...
Unplug it from your PC, plug it on the main... and wait !!!
That happened to me, and I can tell you this can take awhile before you get back to your main display...
May depend on the numbers of apps or how much space left on the eMMC or the micro SDCard ???
:silly: :fingers-crossed:

i actually dont really know what "plug it on the main" means
but i flashed a new rom from CWM and still stuck on Samsung Galaxy tab logo and i think the device is overheating right now from the left side of the screen. is that normal ?
Question: i did not delete/restore factory settings i just erased the dalvik and cache.. would that be a problem ?
for the sake of helping you... can you tell us... what firmware were you from before you flash a new one??? honeycomb??? ics??? and which custom firmware did you flash...
This happened to me as well, this weekend. Absolutely stock Tab 7.7, never flashed, and it suddenly rebooted while I was using it and got stuck on the "Galaxy Tab 7.7" bootup screen, and no amount of factory resetting would help.
I managed to fix it by following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25487137&postcount=22
Basically, the /data partition was corrupted, and had to be repaired with e2fsck through an adb shell.
Let battery go flat.
I only try to help you. Don't blame me if this doesn't works for you. Based on my experience, this is step-by-step guide you could try to flash a new ROM for your device.
1. Install Samsung Kies on a PC or notebook
2. Download PC Odin3 v.1.85
3. Download Stock Android 3.2 HC ROM
4. Open PC Odin
5. Click on PDA and search for your downloaded file (which MUST have been extracted into .tar.md5 format earlier)
6. Connect your device to the PC and wait until the PC finished installing your device ADB driver
7. Click Start to begin flashing your device for the Stock ROM
ps: Sometimes Device get stuck or boot looping. But, after wiping data and chace in stock recovery its became normal again. Revived.
Good luck!

After you've done flashing, your device is asking for password. That could be happen if you didn't flash with the right firmware or flashing isn't completed successfuly. Try to download your original stick ROM and flash again then if your device still asking for the password, enter the recovery mode, wipe data, chacek dalvik chace and reboot.
Or, else you need to send your device to Samsung.
Thanks.
