I work in the oilfield where Iphones and droid Run ramped. We was at the shop in a town of 100000 plus their iphone 4s couldn't get 3g in a medal building, so since their previous apples couldn't get signal I offered free wireless tethering with my superior rooted droid x... They were amazed and shocked and one of them dumped their iphone for an x lol

Ok, here's my story.
I currently have a HTC Droid Eris and I am in the need of a new phone. Other people with other Verizon phones get better service up here than I do, the GPS doesn't work, and my phone has broken 5 times with me getting the same replacement phone each time.
I've been researching the Droid X and I've really liked how responsive it was and how it didn't freeze up when switching screens and such. I know that the Droid (the first one) has a good signal up here because my parents had full bars when they came to visit me.
Ideas?
Buy a Droid 1 for half the price?

They told me that they don't sell the Droid 1 anymore and I don't want to buy a used one. They offered me a refurbished HTC Diamond for $250 or so which I think is total ****.
U should add a line. U pay a lil more monthly but u get the phone for 200

I always think it's worth it just to shell out the money to buy the phone full price. That way you don't have to worry about a contract, and worst case you always have the option to sell the phone if you needed money/moved/change carriers, and you'd recoup a decent amount of it because you wouldn't have an early termination fee.
The X is a huge step of from the Eris, I'd say go for it.
Agreed

Go for it. I stand by this phone completely. It's my favourite of the current gen smart phones.

What about the fact that Motorola is coming out with a 2GHz phone this year and that the recommended specs of a phone for gingerbread are 1GHz, 512RAM and something else?
Just found this out.
I say go for a droid incredible not as big a screen but a better phone and this is coming from someone that is carrying a DX

Having the droid X and coming from the eris I would 100% say that it would have been worth it to pay full retail. I added a line so that I could pay 200 now. In the end I will wind up paying full retail but not such an upfront hit.
Get the HTC Incredible. I have the droid x and after all the bs moto has pulled with their handsets released after the OG Droid, if I had known then what I know now I would have gotten the DINC. Of course my opinion is based purely on the ability to hack and customize. For someone wanting an " out of the box" non hackable phone the droid x would be a good choice.

Edit:
Well I lied...
I brought home a loaner X to check dbm readings against my facinate. The X is -15 to -20dbm better everywhere in my house which has the new 2nd generation verizon network extender. I think I am going with the X until April when my upgrade is due. My advice to anyone trying to decide between the 2 is, if you live and work where you have a strong verizon signal the facinate is great. If you have less than average signal (like I do) get the X. The voice and speaker quality is also better on the X.
Good luck

To make a long story short. I can trade my facinate in for another Incredible or a Droid X due to reception issues. If the Inc had a 4" display I might consider it but it doesn't and I can't wait until the Inc HD is out (My verizon store won't let me wait that long). After messing with my friends X, the picture or screen seems very "washed out" not near as vibrant as the facinate. I'm sticking it out and banking on Samsung to step up and support this phone more than they have done in the past on my previous Samsung phones...

I have Verizon and will be eligible for an upgrade this time next month. I have the incredible right now but am wondering what I should upgrade to. Are there supposed to be any phones coming with in the next month that will be worth upgrading to? Let me know what you think. Thanks

I wouldn't upgrade to anything that is getting the VZ8 upgrade...Just sayin
Verizon is supposed to, some time this month, get a successor to the Incredible 2, the Incredible 4G or HTC Fireball. Think their version of the One X that would be your best bet
I'm in the same boat as you. There's a few choices coming up, with my opinions alongside of each.
-Moto Droid Fighter - Specs aren't released, but looks like a well built phone. I've never been into moto blur, but I am considering it.
- Samsung Galaxy Journal - Verizon's version of the note. Old hardware in my opinion. The note has been out for a long time internationally.
- HTC Fireball - Rumored to just be a budget relative of the Incredible series. Budget phone is a no go for me. I need top of the line specs. I doubt this will be a One series device.
I'm hoping with all that I have that Verizon decides to go with the Galaxy SIII. Pretty promising to have some great specs like the GSII when it came out. I can't tell you how pissed I'd be if Verizon missed out again... So if I were you, I'd definitely wait a little bit.

I think that you definitely shouldn't rule out the Droid Razr Maxx. It has awesome battery life, is pretty thin and is getting ICS soon, if you care. But you could say that I have a biased opinion.

I'm up too in early May at Verizon, but willing to wait another month or so until the right phone comes out. I need a phone that's at least 5" and has a stylus. That leaves me with zero choices and just one rumor. Yeah my life sucks.
Just don't get a Razr and they do this to you:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDxJoGv3FLA&feature=channel if you use 12GB.
I have the Galaxy Nexus and absolutely love this phone. My first android phone was the nexus one and now this phone. Have found vanilla android the only way to go after playing with friends HTC phones. But then again I love installing custom rom's, maybe that's not as important to you.

Any new opinions now that more info has been released about the incredible 4g?

So currently I have a tbolt and its on its last leg. Everytime its time for me yo upgradr it seems like its always that transition period where its a while before any great new devices. Well I need an android device now. Not to thrilled about going with a moto device even if the maxx has great battery life. Nexus just doesnt seem well built. The lg spectrum looks good spec wise. Wondering if I root it to get rid of that terrible lg sw will be ok or should I just get an improved tbolt and go with the rezound. I really want an htc one x but mo timeframe vzw will be getting. Opinions on the spectrum? Rezound? Or anyone heard when they will be getting some new top of the line devices

You cannot go wrong with the Rezound.
Best signal of any phone I've ever used.
Development is getting going quicker now since we now have S-OFF.
It's a really underrated phone as it got lost in the Nexus/Razr Maxx craze and now the newer phones.

Totally agree.. rezound is.like a lost treasure. It's easily the best phone on the market. That's what happens with ****ty advertising. Verizon got more money to push the gnex and razor.

When exactly did they push advertising for the GNex? Retailers didn't even know the phone was supposed to be released on the release day. They advertise nothing but moto. I had to go to 4 different stores to get mine because they weren't sure if they could release it. Lol, vzw for ya.

The Rezound is a solid option great form factor. I've played around with the Razr maxx and it's shortcoming is it is a little too wide. I think Verizon is waiting to decide if they will carry the new HTC One X series so your options are the Rezound or the razr maxx at the moment.
They did announce the Droid Incredible 4G LTE at CTIA...

You're right! Looks like it is supposed to come out this month.
Verizon's CEO put out a press release specifying that they won't be getting any of the new HTC phones within the foreseeable future.
The Rezound has great development going on with it and is definitely a quality device. If you're getting a phone now it's what I'd recommend. VZ is going Nazi style on their Moto bootloaders so that's definitely something I wouldn't buy myself.
I would upgrate now before they take your unlimited data away.
you can`t compare , HTC - Simply the best !
Hi all,
I am on Sprint and I can't take it anymore. Sprint in Puerto Rico is crap... and it's been crap for the past 4 years. So, I am jumping ship to AT&T this afternoon, maybe...
So, I ask you... HTC One X or SG3?
Go! (and thanks!!)
One X rocks my world and is built solidly unlike the plastic fantastic of the GS3. Buy a one x then root and unlock the boot loader then have a LOT of fun!!
