Its really no big whoop. I use my TF normally, I keep it stored in a small neoprene laptop case. The s/n sticker is peeling and the back sticker which hass all the model info numbers and such is also peeling. I thought they would last longer than a couple of months. I dont own a KB yet but I assumed the big rear sticker was really for being able to slide the TF into the slot so as not to scratch up the back. Anyone else getting peeling stickers?
Perhaps a little contact cement will hold them. I had a similar issue with one of my cameras and contact cement made the serial # sticker permanent.
sounds like you need to rma tablet immediatey

Mine is a bit, I would just take a note of the serial number etc and take the stickers off if it is annoying you, the sticker on the back just holds the FCC etc and isn't important.
Wow - one of the first things I did was to remove those stupid stickers!! Surely, then can get the S/N from the inside somewhere if they needed to, right??

Yes, but you do need it if you have to RMA your unit. As long as you have the box or the manual you should be ok (the S/N is on both these items).

Same thing here. Those stickers didn't look like they were meant to hold on except for in the box.

just to let you know, you can NOT get the s/n inside the tablet. I know this because my friend's tablet died and it was kind of a pain to RMA since his tablet never had the s/n sticker on the tablet itself and he threw the box away. But I did find out that the s/n is on the warranty card.
Ripped off stickers here as well, first thing I did. They should really be permanently etched into the case.
Does nobody keep their boxes anymore? The sn is on the box =p

A little clear finger polish might do the trick.

In today's market of get it out first then fix it later if customers complain enough you almost have to keep the box until out of warranty so it can go back.
Sticker definitely does not feel permanent. Disappointing considering the information listed. My old skool mp3 player (zune) has it etched into the back, looks good.
I don't think either of the 2 tablets I have received had serial numbers on the actual unit.
So does mine, I was considering tearing them off - is there any reason to keep them on?
I took the one on the back when I walked out of best buy
But the serial number one is still there. Might put some tape over it or something.
I placed my stickers inside my warranty booklet
Surely ASUS has another wat to obtain the serial number... Otherwise, if my 6 month old Transformer breaks, I can just go buy a new one, put the new one's serial number sticker on the old one and then return the old one as if it were only a few days old.... See what I mean? I woud hope that ASUS has another way of idetifying these things...
I was wondering if there is any way to replace the storage when you open up the phone for the more tech-savvy people?
Most likely no...the flash storage is probally soldered onto the board. Not like there is a secret SD slot under there

Nope. No way. Sorry.

ah well. a guy can hope lol
If you were really good at surface mount soldering and knew where to get a larger size flash chip from, you could do it. But otherwise it is very unlikely mainly because there isn't a place to get new flash storage chips from. So essentially no, it's not going to happen. It would be nice if there was a way to get larger flash storage chips from.
Last week I got a shiny, new Nabi Jr NV-5B. The 16GB Nick version. It was dead less than 48 hours later. Since I'm an Android noob, I searched around the 'web and just found the same useless reboot keys. Today I decided to void the warranty and pull the battery. What do you know, the Nabi came back to life!
Here's a couple of pictures in case anyone's interested about whats inside this tablet.

I guess my noobness prevents me from sharing the pictures of the internals of this tablet. It seems I am not allowed to post images.
As seems a common issue with these phones i wondered if to replace the sd card/sim tray was a easy repair in the sense its clip out and in job once the phones in bits obviously

No mate, tried several cards which all wotk fine in my note 2 but not the 3
The tray itself is soldered on to the board. So might be tricky, depends how confident you are at removing and re-soldering one.
I have the same problem.. Any tutorials?
My SD Card reader is dead as well. Samsung refused to repair it because Knox was tripped. I am wondering if there is a tutorial for how to repair/replace it. I have searched youtube and Google and have not found anything yet.
Best thing is find a phone shop (independent) and pay them the 20 or so to fix it for you tbh

I replaced the motherboard on my bricked hdx 8.9 also had to order a daughterboard as it was borked also.
I tested with the daughterboard from my wife's tablet.
Works like new.
Total cost was about $50 from ifixit
They are out of motherboards but I'm sure you can find one somewhere online.
With the proper tools and watching a few teardown videos on YouTube and some patience it's not a hard job at all really.
Hope this helps those out there that are stuck with a paper weight.
Be gentle removing the screen from the back, there are tabs on top and glue in the middle on each side. Don't just try to pull it apart, go slow and be careful.

Could you make a video or elaborate the process cause even my Kindle Fire stopped working and doesn't turn on . I really think it's a hardware problem. Any help is appreciated.

Works like a brand new device. If you need a teardown video look on youtube.
I was able to find the motherboard and daughterboard for a little over $50 total.
I've been looking for more but they aren't easy to find.

You will likely need a daughter board too. Depending on cost it may be less expensive to pick up a used HDX 7 at an auction site. If you decide to repair no one can say if it will work or not as your situation may be different than others.

I've got some parts coming in. Probably get them next week. The fire hdx 7 mother and daughter boards are supposed to be good.
I won't really have a way to test them.
I'll pm you when I get them in if you'd like?

Just watched the hdx 7 teardown. It's more difficult than the 8.9
If anyone is going to attempt it I'd suggest watching as many videos as possible.

Fixed another one today. This one only needed the motherboard.

Hello, when you replace the motherboard or daughterboard, do you need to reregister the device and download apps again, or are you still able to run existing apps and access the database to see pictures, etc? Thanks

Mainboards include internal storage. So similar to starting with a new device or whatever the previous owner left behind.
Hmm...is there a way I can pull data off my dead hdx? Looking to get pictures off it.
Device is dead...tried all the soft and hard reboots, with charger, etc...just blank screen.
Trying to get a working hdx 8.9 off ebay for parts. Was thinking to try battery, then daughterboard, then motherboard...but it seems if the motherboard is the culprit, my data is hosed.
Hoping some way to hot wire something...mount it or something to get that data if possible!
Any advice?
Thanks

Identify suitable pad connections is above my pay grade.
Not sure anyone has had any real success with this approach. There was a flurry of activity early looking for boot exploits and ways to recover bricked devices. Also getting power to the USB port for OTG support. AFAIK nothing came from those efforts.

Thanks Davey,
Guess should save some money and accept the loss...will wait for the 2017 models to come out and get one of those.
Contacted a pro recovery place and they wanted 900-2000 to do the recovery!!!
Saw some wild post about sweating out the chip from the motherboard and solder it onto another one...wish I took those electronic courses all those years ago
Davey,
Thinking of doing something radical.
Do you or if anyone else wants to chime in, know if I get identical motherboard with same internal storage size, could I just swap out the storage chip from the bad motherboard and move it to the working motherboard, or are there other things on the board that would differ that would cause an issue?
Thanks

Little community experience in this area. You would likely be the first to (publicly) travel this path.

whoa! Pressure is on!!!
I'll give it a go in the next week or two.
I already got a working doppelganger device that I will start replacing components to see if anything else is truly defective.
If that doesn't yield any results, I got another scrap kindle off eBay to practice my IC chip removal process. It seems pretty simple and actually quite forgiving.
I will need to maybe get a more fine solder tool...one I got maybe too big of a needle...used it for soldering pipes...also need to get some removal items...but other than that...just need time, steady hand and lots of luck!!
If it is a success, I'll document the process and post it here, if it fails, I'll post as well and state what issues I came across for prosperity sake!
Thanks

Hi... any news on the topic?
Other than that: I also have a bricked and a working HDX 8.9 here. I am wondering if I could just somehow dump the software from the working device and flash it onto the bricked one. Does anybody know how to do this or know if this would be possible somehow?

Unfortunately not possible (or at least practical) on a locked device. Even when unlocked 'bricked' HDXs are not easy to work with.
