Still Haven't Gotten 3.70. WTF - EVO 4G General

I still haven't been able to get the newest software upgrade. I'm not rooted and have 0003 hardware. I've tried everything from turning phone on and off to using wifi and 3g. I've clicked on Htc Software update and firmware update.
Has anyone else not gotten the update yet?

If you want to keep root dont wait for it. There are odexed and deodexed versions you can flash. They are waiting in the dev section.

I'm not rooted.

The RUU will wipe the phone, the OTA will not pretty sure.

Well the update is official htc has posted instructions on their website.

It won't install for many of us either.

Maybe there is a glitch in the matrix?

I'm in SoCal and still no update. :/

It is being released little be little to predesignated areas to prevent the servers from being overloaded with everyone downloading it at the same time. When your day comes, Sprint will push it out through you local towers and everyone will get it.

Well I spoke to a sprint representative and they said from 12/15/10 to 12/17/10 it should be rolling out with that update

Nothing in Dallas yet.

Question to ask - this a all EVO version patch, or a 0002 and 0003 but not 0004 or possibly 0004 and not 0002 and 0003 like the last MR? I have 0002 hardware and haven't got the update notification.

It is universal, this will allow htc to have all hardware revisions on one software version so they dont have to make separate roms. As for u not getting the update, it is being released by location. Sprint said they should have it rolled out by tomorrow (the 17th)

The various info I've been hearing is that the only people who have currently updated to the 3.7 are 0004 hardware version phones. Any truth to this rumor? I'm 0003, running software version 3.29.651.5 CL252548, and I've been hearing that similar phones to mine have not, and possibly will not get this update. I'll check tomorrow and see if the Sprint rep was right about the 17th being another wave of updates sent out.

Froyo. I know again.

Just wanted to say that I'm sick and tired of waiting on froyo, everyone has already gotten it or is in the process of getting it. Even the mytouch3g. Anyone who knows any valuable information on this please post and let us know. And by valuable info I mean when we will be getting it

This is true. Its reported on engadget today that the initial froyo updates where pulled due to "not awesomeness" but that Samsung promised increased performance along with all the other good **** that is froyo

The update may come from Verizon, but I'm guessing that they give Samsung a list of what they want the update to include (bloatware, settings, etc.) and Samsung is the one responsible for getting the update out with Verizon's specs. While I'd agree that you can't believe it until it's mentioned specifically, if they say all carriers and actually mean it, then it's better than nothing.
So after much thought I have decided to at least keep this phone until LTE. It has probably the most truly capable hardware ever put n a phone. The CPU/ Gpu is great. The camera/ camcorder is second only to iPhone. Screen is great. But Samsung lack of support for their products is discouraging at the least. The phone came out after phones with froyo(D2 ) had already launched. I love this phone. See why people hate Samsung

If we are rooted, will the update take without doing something special?
Sent from my Fascinate
more than likely not. As I am sure you have removed the bloatware. In all I would say the easiest thing would be to Odin back to stock with Odin(when the update comes). That would ne the easiest.

My first one update within hours of me turning it on.
I'll let ya know if I don't have it by tomorrow.
Amazing how quick my wife and I all if a sudden get the update when I tell them I am gonna return the phones and cancel the agreement! But I know why the update didn't come when it was suppose to. The imei was not correct in the system. The last rep got tech on the phone and said check the imei and sure enough it was not changed.

You shouldnt have any problem with the OTA update when rooted. You will lose root though when you install this update that is coming.

If your deodexed it will interfere with the update. You need the .odex files for it to complete the check for the update to be approved.

Wrong, I have webtop mod. I still got the update notification two days ago (I volunteered for beta test). I didn't actually update so I don't know if the update will go through or fail after the webtop mod.
supposedly there is issues with the update and rooted users? can anyone confirm or deny this?

Sorry I wasn't clear when I said it stop the update I didn't mean it would stop it from downloading it stops it from installing. Webtop mod causes update to fail during install. A couple of posts up umm (sorry I don't know your name you've commented on my posts before) the poster with the new York name said that being deodexed would also cause the update to fail. I can't confirm or deny this but that might be true as its a major change just like the webtop mod is.

Wrong. This doesn't cause any major problems, you simply lose root. There is currently no method of rooting if you update, save flashing back to 1.2.6 or 1.5.2.
I assume this is consistant with all Atrix owners. I've just GladRoot my Bell Atrix, but only so I can use setcpu. I have not modded anything else.
So, hopefully (one day) Bell might update their version of the Atrix, although its not looking good right now

Just a curiosity considering you're from Aussie Land...why did you get the Bell Atrix vs. the AT&T one? Since modding or romming wise, the Bell doesn't have much going on for it due to no SBF

There were 2 reasons
1) I was in Canada at the time skiing around the day of release (17th March), needed a phone that worked on the right bands (my T-Mobile Nexus S didn't work at all) and happened to go past a Bell store while I was grocery shopping that had them in stock for $599. So I got it and had it unlocked in store.
2) Wanted one without the AT&T branding
All in all, I probably should have gone the AT&T version. I didnt know that Bell was so crap releasing updates. Modding wise, I wasn't fussed there was no SBF. I actually don't mind the phone because it has less bloatware on it from what I have seen.
I'm happy to just have root, and it plays the games that I use with absolute smooth operation. Overall, apart from the lack of updates, I'm stoked with it.

Well you did end up getting a nice phone. But just an FYI for the next time you're in Canada that the Nexus S(Tmo) will work on 2 carriers, Wind and Mobilicity, as both use the HSPA 1700 frequency. Only negative is that they are currently only have towers in major metro cities.
