Will these work with ATT?
Hello All! I see all the Australian versions on Ebay you can buy, but I am wondering if anyone knows if any of these three links will work. Each one says it is the T9193 model, and each shows HSDPA frequency at 850, but they are titled Tmobile. But also, looking at the Tmobile phones on the US Ebay, many say it supports the 850mhz HSDPA band, so assuming ATT has the 850 band in your area, why would these not work?

So which, if any, of these will work? Thanks folks
p.s. sorry for the [dot]'s. Ive been a member for awhile now but Im not one that often posts (on any message board Im a member of) so I have less than 8 posts which means I cant post links. I hope Im not doing anything illegal by doing it with the [dot]. If so, I apologize Mods. I just really need this question answered as Im getting conflicting info and who better than the best here at XDA? Thanks again

HTC Touch HD2 (LEO) AT&T

Hi everyone. I am sure there are serveral threads already on here in which people have asked about the new HD2 and AT&T's 3G signal. I searched around and found tidbits of information here and there so I thought I'd start a new thread and ask some questions that some of us AT&T users here in the states have.
I purchased a Touch HD (T8285) from an Australian seller not too long ago that was branded with the Telstra logo on it and it worked with my AT&T 3G signal here in the US near the Washington DC area.
My question to everyone is, is there a Telstra version of the HD2 currently available that will also work with the AT&T 3G signal? I see that there are a bunch of vendors in the UK that are selling this phone and I believe they won't work with our 3G signal here but is there an Australian one that will?
If so, where can someone buy or preorder it from? Any help is VERY MUCH appreciated.
That's the answers we're waiting for (the other being that whether it'll come to AT&T at all).

Well any news is good news. Unfortunately we don't have any at this time. I read somewhere that Telstra is currently testing this phone on their Next G network and is hoping to have it Q1 of 2010 which is the same timeframe as when T-Mobile is going to get it. I can't wait that long.
I Live in the US - Could not Wait Bought HD2 Euro Version - WOW
Couldn't wait until Q1-Q4 of 2010... The phone is unbelievably fast. So fast that being on a Slow EDGE connection speed and toggling to WiFi is almost not noticeable? Windows 6.5 runs really nice, there is absolutely no lag(AT ALL). A Running talley of open applications without lag is 40 apps. Big hitters like you-Tub, GoogleMaps, Acrobat, Opera, MorphGear, TCMP player, IE, TombRaider 3d. Digital Compass, Mobile Market Place, Remote Desktop, Bing... they just all run and the phone is super snappy? I have not had the phone crash or had to reset because of the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS freezing up, WHICH IS A WINMO FIRST...
Coming from the Resistive Touch HD screen, I think my only complaint so far is actually the Capacitive touch screen... It takes a second to get used to this. It's not bad but I find myself having to do things a few times...Dude typing with the onscreen keyboard is little hard because of the multiple touch input... Using your finger as apposed to a stylus is a big change...the HD2 doesn't have a stylus so, it's sort of a trial by fire...
Over all the device is crazy awesome, and It will definitely be the Gadget of the Year If it hits US 3G?

There is already a thread on this topic. I am waiting for the Telstra version myself. Interestingly, Telstra has a website. Yeah, who knew? Anyway, they are an amazing resource on which phones are available to Telstra subscribers.
Ok. I have I answer to where you can get the Austrailian HD2 that runs 3G on AT&T. Email [email protected] as they will have this week. Ask for Kevin and say Jeff gave me info and it's yours at the best price anywhere. For real!

They've been available on eBay for a while now. Just make sure you get the right one.

Aquiring US version of HD2 in UK?

I was looking at the best deal i could get on the HD2 when i heard about the US version, has there been any news on the 'upgraded' US version coming to anywhere else? Namely the UK? I dont want to sign up to a contract to then see the better version released
Or would an imported handset from the US work in the UK?
3g high speed data wouldn't work in the uk. and before you ask no, flashing a different rom or radio wouldn't fix that, the frequencies are built into the hardware.
for the sake of the extra rom in my opinion it isn't worth it and to be honest I suspect they'll be difficult to get as they will be tmobile usa locked.

I don't see why 3G data wouldn't work. The handset is listed as 1700 (AWS) / 2100.
If it only worked on the T-Mobile USA bands they would have just listed it as 1700 (AWS) [even though it still needs 2100 to work on T-Mobile USA].
Without 2100 the phone could only be used in a tiny handful of countries - well, not even a handful really, which would very much destroy some of the appeal of the phone.
If you really want one then Ebay will be your friend. However considering all the problems this phone has had I wouldn't buy one that I couldn't return or exchange, I really wouldn't.
Oh ok thanks guys, just a thought.
Think i'll plump for the Uk one then & see what happens
Thanks
I asked htc back then, even if thair response was obviously the "commercial" one, it was clear enough, "that version of hd2 has been customized especially for tmobile usa and will not be available elsewhere also because it won't work on other networks." or something along those lines.

HTC HD2 or T-Mobile HD2

hi every body please help me in this
my cousin live in USA and his network is T-Mobile and he asked them for me if he buy the T-Mobile HD2 will give him the unlock code and their answer was yes .. so he will renew his contract and will get one for $250 >> and of course me who will pay ... this the first option
the second option is I buy the normal HTC HD2 from Amazon for $717
so now which option I should choose
- I am living in Egypt
- my network is Vodafone
- need Arabic on my mobile (read and write )
- need to try the roms
- this is the first time I use the windows mobile
and all of this I will be able to do it with the normal HTC HD2
so what about the T-Mobile HD2 ??
- can I apply on it the Arabic without problems ?
- can I use the Themes , games and the applications of the normal HTC HD2 on it easy ?
.
hope some one help me
I'll do my best to help you.
The biggest problem I see with you purchasing the US T-Mobile HD2 is the 3g band. People are pretty sure that the US T-Mobile HD2 will work on the 2100 band (Asia/Middle East/Europe 3g band), but no one has actually tried it from what I can tell, so we don't know if it works. You will receive Edge coverage of course.
If the 3g works in your area or you don't care about 3g, then definitely get the US TMO HD2. The US version has more memory and is substantially cheaper than the unlocked HTC version. By the way, your cousin can also buy the phone for $450 without having to extend his contract for 2 years.
Keep in mind that in most cases T-Mobile will not give your cousin the unlock code till 40 days after purchase to avoid returns. You can also pay around $20 to get the code from an unlock site. If he buys the phone for $450 he can get the unlock code within a few days from T-Mobile.
Yes, you can put all the themes, games, and applications made for the HD2 on either the US HD2 or the unlocked HTC HD2.
Yes, you can put Arabic language, or any ROM made for the US HD2. The ROM has to specify the US version or the larger memory size. You CANNOT use any ROM on the US HD2 because some ROMs are for the unlocked HTC HD2 with the smaller memory and can damage the US version if used.
I hope all this makes sense and your questions are answered.

You're welcome.
You can follow the thread below to see if anyone tries it in Europe or Asia and we'll have the answer to the 3g working outside the US.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=658567
As for flashing the ROM, don't be worried, a lot of the ROMs out there will work on the US HD2. The phone has been a pretty hot seller here, so a lot of people will be working on the US version and more ROMs and mods will be released for sure.
Don't buy it. Phone pretty. Windows killing it
You need both Upload and download frequencies in the mobile matching your provider to get 3G.
2100 is the download freq, which is common to both Americas and EU, but US had 1900/850/1700 for upload and EU uses 900.
You have to make sure both the freq are supported by the phone. At the looks of it I'm pretty sure the TMOUS HD2 will not have 3G for you in Egypt.
Everything else you asked for can be done in both phones.

HTC HD2
HSDPA 900 / 2100
HSDPA 850 / 2100 - American version
and it works great in Egypt
T-Mobile HD2
HSDPA 1700 / 2100
and I do not know the different and this will not work in Egypt ???
I can call My Network to ask them but I don't know what is the question ?

THe question here is, although T Mo us use umts 850 and 2100 for their 3g, one up one down, i also seem to remember when reading up on umts/hsdpa/blahblah that some networks use the same band for up and down. If that were so, is the hd2 capable of holding a two way connection on one band? ie 2100?
(I may be completely mistaken, of course )

That's exactly my thinking too. Europe and Asia use 2100 up and down for 3g data, and they use 900 for Edge and voice. The only question with the US HD2 is if the 2100 band supports up and down or only down. Some specs for the US HD2 show 1700/2100 and also 2100 by itself, which makes some of us believe it will handle Euro/Asia 3g. We won't know for sure till someone unlocks a unit and drops a 3g sim in Asia or Europe and reports back.
Let's keep our fingers crossed.
T-Mobile USA, FTW!!!
In my opinion, "de-branded" hardware is always superior, but for once... not in this case.

let your cousine buy you nexus one or htc desire wm6.5 is dead
I already bought one!
Hey Everyone
I'm from Egypt. I already bought a t-mobile htc hd2 (TM), after doing a hell of a survey about the differences between it and the international. They r different in size, slight taller in TM and ofcourse branded.
There r red and green keys(end and answer) instead of the white in the international.
Band differences, but i searched for the unlocked TM, ppl confirm 3g working for carrier networks outside the US(philippines, germany, sweden, UAE, brazil)!!! So i guess it will work in Egypt since the band is 2100, i hope it's for both ways up and downloads.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6735562
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=658567
Bigger ROM (1)
16gb microSD included in the box
The TM is alot cheaper even if it's sold already unlocked, i got it worth 470 $ unlocked from ebay but will come to me through a friend.
I will try my vodafone sim and see how it works and will give feedback.
I hope the 3g works as i guessed!!
Finally!!!
Wooooooooooooohhhhhhoooooooooooo!!!
Just got the phone, and the 3g network is working perfectly like a charm!!!
Thank God!!
Awesome phone!!! I love hTC!!
So that makes Africa included with the others and especially Egypt for the TMOUS working for 3g network outside the US!!
Go ahead HD2 lovers BUY........ and ENJOY!!!

[Q] HTC HD2 T8585 or T9193, worth the extra price?

Hi all,
my first post here! a definite newbie!
I am planning to get a new HD2, and from a few online stores here down under in Australia, I found that they sell both the T8585 and the T9193. The T9193 is around AUD$200 more expensive.
Search the forum, seems like they are pretty the same except the NextG freq difference, and possibly the larger ROM (1G). I am not with NextG so that doesn't really bother me.
As I would be interested in using Android instead of Winmo, I am wondering if it is worth paying the extra 200 bucks for the larger ROM in T9193. Would that be more 3rd party android ROM support for this?
Thanks for all the insights...
Hey, welcome to xda
T9193 doesn't have a bigger ROM...it's still only 512MB. Only difference is the band frequencies.
thanks for clarifying it the_scotsman... I must have mis-read some info then.
a $200 difference for just a freq band difference!
Anyway, if that's the case, then I guess I will go with a T8585 and follow the instruction here to put android on. I hope it will be a nice experience.
Depending on your provider, one version will give you 3g and the other will not. Thats what he means by different bands. Make sure the one you buy is compatible with your company's 3g bands.

[May 6] [Q] HD2 general stuff

Hello, I am Kingdomfalls, I am from Canada, and I have been looking at the HD2 for quite a while, and it's really starting to grab my interest.
However, I have a few questions.
First of all, I have seen, in my research, a number of different models given for the same specifications. For example, there is the T8585 from Australia that seems to have the same baseband as the T9193, also from Australia. My question on this is whether the phone, when stated to be a T8585 with the 850 mhz band would be the same as the T9193?
Second of all, as I have noticed a number of HD2s on eBay with cracked screens/broken digitizers, I was wondering how difficult it would be to replace the digitizer. I have done repair projects before, just not to anything with a touchscreen. On a rating of one to ten, how difficult do you think it would be to replace the digitizer?
Third, I saw the General T9193 discussion thread, however, of the links given, one is dead, one I cannot seem to find either the price or the a potential link to buy and the third is rather pricey and I would prefer alternative options. So, are any of you aware of a more accessible or less expensive option than those given on the thread.
Thank you to any one of you who responds in advance. These threads are excellent resources, and I am very appreciative of the amount of time and work must of gone into them.
T8585 is the worldwide version, or "regular hd2" or sometimes euro hd2,, the one that most people outside of the USA have.
T9193 is the telstra model, identical to the t8585 except for the supported bands.
The tmous, or "t mobile USA" doesn't seem to have a txxxx number, and is the only one to have different hardware specs, (not counting supported bands) namely more rom.
Replacing just the digitizer is probably tgw hardest of all, since it involves completely (and I do mean completely) dissasembling the phone, and baking in an oven at 60degrees for ten mins to separate the digitizer from the glass and screen. Though you can buy whole screen, digi, glass all in one which would be somewhat easier. There are the official htc disassembly vids on YouTube.
OK, thank you that is quite helpful.
Then, from what I gather from what you've said is that:
T8585 is 900/2100
T9193 is 850/2100
Are there any T8585s that have the 850? Only reason I ask is that I have seen numerous T8585s on eBay *supposedly* having the 850 band, and they were from australia.
Not so far as I've ever heard of, no. There are only three models.
However the 8585 (all three models, probably) does support 850 GSM band (edge, Gprs, calls, NOT hsdpa ((3g))l so perhaps that's where the confusion is?
Yeah, I got the 850 GSM at first, but it was actually this that got me ( if I'm violating any rules by posting this please remove):
http://cgi.ebay.ca/HTC-HD2-Mobile-Phone-/140540125334?pt=AU_Mobile_Phones&hash=item20b8d82096
The author states it's a T8585 yet it's specs are for 850 HSPDA, as well this posting:
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_hd2-2957.php
States that the Aussie version is the T8585 with 850 HSPDA.
I'm sorry if I'm being difficult, I'm just very confused at the moment.
No, you aren't being difficult, you're right to query it, but what can I say? No one has ever posted on this site with a t8585 that has the 850hsdpa band. There are only three versions of hd2.
The eBay link is wrong, the second link is just badly written in that yes the Australian version DOES have 850,,,, and also a different model code.
Why don't you phone HTC?
@everyone,,,,,,, anyone got a t8585 with 850mhz hsdpa?
