Good Afternoon Streakers,
I am keen to upgrade to Froyo and will be doing so (my notification has arrived) just as soon as I find out how I can backup my gmail and outlook notes.
How do I backup other application user data also ?
I know DELL backup and restore app will do everything else but I need to backup my emails and data created by apps
Anyone know how to do this ?
Many Thanks
I have heard that MyBackup Pro works great. I actually used it to backup my HD2 but have not been able to restore yet because I cant get my Streak until Saturday. There was an option for Data backup as well.
As for gmail, your gmail account is already backed up by google servers. Not sure what you mean by this?
You can also back up your Contacts, SMS, MMS, and Call Log with an app called "SMS Backup+" right to your gmail account, they will have their own folders and you can set it up to backup automatically as new data arrives on your phone.
May I ask how you received your update? Aren't they not coming out until January 2011?

Do You know any app which can backup and restore email accounts settings? I don't want to do a backup of anything more than email settings...
I don't think there is a tool that "only" backs up E-Mail Settings. (even it would be nice)
But as far as I know, most backup Tools can be customised to at least restore only some of your data. (in this case you e-mail settings)
Here, a link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416689
I got SPB Backup and indeed it have in customized backup option 'Emails' but it seems to me that it only do a backup of messages in email folders. I am not sure if it also do a backup of settings of email accounts...
Maybe Makisu works for you..
Makisu is some kind of a solution but with that I have to set up accounts again and I don't want that. I have already set up accounts and I don't want to touch that
Has anyone else had problems lately synching their contacts? I wiped my phone the other day to load JFv1.41 and I backed up my contacts using MyBackup (from the Market.)
When I re-synched with google I got my contacts back but I noticed that none of them had images. I restored using MyBackup (it said it would overwrite any existing data.)
That was 3 days ago. After it synched the first time I had duplicate contacts on my phone so I removed the dupes. When I went to sync again it said syncing was having problems and I should try again. That was on the 25th and it hasn't synced since. I remember it saying there were too may deletions made (77 I think.)
Just now, I logged into gmail on the web and I had 8 contacts! (I have 107 on my phone.)
Not sure where to go next with this. Should I re-back up my contacts, re-associate my phone with my google account (with an empty contact list) restore the backup and re-sync?
sorry no issue here, mine sync up fine after the new JFv1.41
It was definitely due to the MyBackup program. Apparently they say to not use google sync and restore from their program (so what's the point?)
I removed all contacts on the phone, all contacts in gmail.com then restored from their backup. My contacts wound up in gmail but I still get the error in data synchronization!
I'll have to make some changes and try to force it again.
So, basically, dont use MyBackup to backup your contacts.

I'll probably have to wipe the phone and re-sign up with google to really fix it. Uhg.

correction dont restore your contacts, backing up is fine, especially if you want to switch gmail accounts
One should only use MyBackup to backup contacts if one isn't using a Google account. Otherwise, just use the built-in contact sync.
If you made the mistake, as I once did, of trying to use both then you just need to clear the contacts out of your G1 by dumping the data (http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f12/delete-limit-exceeded-10275/) -- not deleting them, as those deletes may then sync to your Gmail and delete the contacts there. Then you can just re-sync.
If they've gotten cleared out of Gmail then you're hosed.
Is there a way to back up and/or sync SMS on Nexus One's stock SMS app? Should I use another app? If so, what?
I hope we can find a service like Microsoft MyPhone.

ScaredyCat and Dayzee,
Cool! Apparently, searching for "SMS backup" on the Market gives me a lot of results. Too bad buying from the Market isn't supported in my country, though. I have to settle with free or trial apps.
You know of any cool free app that would backup SMS and all other logs that are worth archiving (call logs, IM logs, etc)? It would be nice if it syncs with GMail or any other reliable cloud computing service.
RT, how to backup messages in wp7

I'm upgrading from a Nexus One to the Nexus 4. Can I restore the Contacts Storage (and other SMS, calendar, etc.) in my Titanium backup from Gingerbread (CM7) to JellyBean (PA 2.99) on the Nexus 4? Or are these data files going to be incompatible?
Exporting contacts to a .vcf file did not go well (upon import information was mixed up, photo data went in the the address blank, it was a mess).
[Edit: I already tried syncing to my Gmail account, which made a mess and didn't work well for the reasons indicated in my next post below. This isn't a solution for me. That's why I'd like to try using Titanium.]
Just sync them to your gmail account. When you sign in to your nexus 4 the info will be restored.
Edit: Use SMS backup and restore for SMS.

I didn't originally associate my contacts on the Nexus One with my gmail account and there's no option in contacts to do so after the fact. I tried using an app called ContactSync to sync to my gmail account after the fact, but this also made a mess with the contact information (perhaps it was also just using the .vcf format? I don't know).
Well, I willy nilly went ahead and did it with Titanium and it worked fine, addresses, contact images, and all.
[Edit: Oh, but first I selected the "Migrate system data" option in the restoration settings on Titanium.]
