how to get back my original rom data - Desire HD General

well it's not much here, just before i did my first messing with rom change, i deleted some files from my original rom (friend stream, photo gallery, some themes...)
now i did a full wipe and install the stock rom again, i get back everything except the sample photos gallery, so basically there is something missing, is there a way to get everything back as original?
thank you

in another word, where are the default htc desire hd photo samples located on the device, is it on the internal or sd card?

again it's a simple question for those experienced, and yes i did a search, and no i couldnt find anything related to the subject, so plz can anyone at least with a non modified, rooted or sd formated device, check the sample photos folder and tell me where is it located, if it is on the internal memory or SD card?

Did not you get a full back up on the stock rom before you for another rom?

no dint, just full wipe, flash rom

The sample photos are on the sd card /mnt/sdcard/DCIM

help me get my photos back

hi guys
i took some pics at a family wedding and since upgrading ROM i don't see them anymore
so they must have saved to phone not card . is there any way i can get them back
please help
tia
you can check your phone memory location using file explorer go to device, my documents, they should be in my Pictures.
Another way is go to Camera tab and press Album (left corner) this will give an overview of what is stored on your device and Storage card check each one
I suggest also going into your camera options and changing the storage option back to storage card

Click to collapse
If you flashed a ROM then all prior data is technically unrecoverable. Sorry! ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR DATA!!!!
Oops I missed that you had upgraded your ROM bugger
You could try a data recovery software search google there are lots of freeware
Run the program choose your SD card and see if it finds any JPEG files
I have done this before and was successful
Good Luck
thanks but the photos must have been on the phone all the other photos are still on the card , can you run recovery software on the phone itself
cheers
marty
Ok i've found tons of software to recover from the card but none to recover from the phone itself does anyone know if any exists or a way to see the phone with pc software cos only the card shows up
thanks in advance
marty
I hate to tell you this but once you flash a rom it erases everything on the phone and rewrites it so those pics are gone.
There's no such thing as a photo recovery software for a flash ROM.
I'm sorry for your lost, but once you flash a different ROM, everything is wiped clean. It happens to the best of us, OP. I had similar things happen on my Diamond. Just remember to go through your checklist of the things you need to backup/save before you update the ROM.
Ok strange things
i ran recovery software on the card and found photo's taken on the correct date,
recovered them to pc, can see a thumb nail of 1 which is the wedding but none open , anyone know good recovery software ? i've used kroll ontrack recovery pro
seems flashing the rom did do something to the card (i think)
note to self "always take out card when flashing "
thanks for all help
i live in hope

You wouldn't happen to move the HTC album cache to the SD card, did you?

what is daf(clean)

hi
i have tried several cwr roms but only one daf rom , the imilka desire z rom. the good thing about the rom was that i could copy the data file on my sd card which made me install all the basic built and applications on sd rather than in the internal memory. however i dont know but the rom was really buggy and slow. so i switched to cwr, an another desire z build . the problem with this rom is that the internal memory is now only 120 mb. not all applications are movable to sd card using app 2 sd and again the phone has become very slow
i looked around boyppc and wanted to try their desire hd rom. but it gives many option like cwr, cwr(clean) , daf and daf(clean)
please tell me what is with the (clean) thing
2) also let me know if i am using zip rom is there any way i can copy the data file on my sd card like that of daf so to make internal space more.
thanks in advance
A daf(clean) or CWR(clean) version mean that a lot of apps like, twitter, Facebook, flicker, etc... have been left off the Rom to improve System space. In addition certain wallpapers or ringtones and anything else that might be seen as an add on may be left off as well. Most of these apps/ wallpapers can still be downloaded from the market
As for your second question, I have a Tmous phone but I will usually install an EU version (if applies) of a Rom because it is usually set up with an SD-ext
Hope this helps!

accidentlly formatted SDcard need help!!!!!

I accidentally formatted my card and lost all of my data, i was able to recover some of my photos and video's and song's but lost my nandroid backups and htc usb drivers and all.
can some one pls help me and give me the image or content of wildfire default sdcard which is provided by phone itself.
need one more help, how can i get my default froyo back since i lost my nandroid backup now.
right now i am at cm7
please help me guys.....
That included HTC Drivers EXE file can be found here:
http://www.multiupload.com/W04IW5QDZK
I can't provide you the other files since I have (deliberately) formatted the SD lots of times.
For getting back to Froyo, you will now have to depend on Froyo RUU's at Shipped ROMs. Since you say you already have tried recovering data from it, don't think there's any other way, (Unless obviously you send it to some professional data recovery service person).
Thanks alot mate.....

[Q] Internal Storage read problems

Hi guys, i need your help with something.
So, im using Nexus 5 Experience CM11 based 3.1 with hellscore kernel and since yesterday have this huge issue:
It seems that the rom doesn't recognize the internal storage very well, i mean i can see the storage in root explorer, and i can acces it like viewing pictures and stuff ... but in the gallery no picture or video shows up, neither in mxplayer ... and when it rings it has the default ringtone ... i cant set one from my internal storage.
If i take a picture with the camera it shows up in the gallery ... but just that picture, when i use root explorer i can see all my pics and the new one,
Any idea how to fix my problem ? I tried re-flashing rom, clrearing cache, tried stock kernel and other kernels and it didn't help
Huge thanks in advance !
EDIT:
I just restored a backup from 2 weeks ago and i have the same problem ... wtf HELP
How about flashing back factory images? Maybe your internal partition got corrupted. Or just flash back stock recovery and do factory reset. It will format your internal as well. So you might wanna make a backup on your computer before doing that.

need advice from stock kitkat to custom rom

hi guys so i wanna try a new custom rom or even go bac to the cynogen 12.1. since i am currently on stock kitkat from a nandroid restore. Was wondering if i go to a custom rom will i have have to back up my images, contacts, sms etc all over again ? or just flash the rom with the normal procedures and i'll be fine ? please someone guide me to the best current rom for our forgotten device by samsung thanks guys for taking your time reading this and helping me
The most mature ROM(for the I9301I) currently is the official CM 12.1, although Project Lucky is pretty stable as well. I would suggest making a copy of SMS history, contacts and call logs - there are many apps on the Play Store for this(I've used Super Backup.) As a rule of thumb it's recommended that you change the backup path to the external SD card in case things go south. Backing up the internal storage isn't necessary (IIRC), but there is always a risk involved when fiddling with the OS, so keep that in mind if you have photos or documents on your phone that you would rather not lose.
TL;DR: Backup is never a bad idea. :good:
Thanks for the reply any ideas how i can back up my images and other files easire ? Because honestly using the normal way of connecting it through a usb and using the normal explorer to back up on internal memory takes agessss
Such is the bane of MTP unfortunately... You can download an FTP server app from Play Store and see if it copies faster via Wi-Fi. Your other option would be copying everything to a folder on your(hopefully fast enough) microSD card and then backing that up, if you have a card reader that is. Good luck!
